Summary: This is loosely based on the idea of The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simmons. Liz and Alex are twins. Tess is their older sister. Max and Isabel are still brother and sister, but twins. Maria is Liz’s best friend. Liz, Maria and Alex are all juniors. Tess, Isabel, Michael, Kyle and Max are seniors. This isn’t going to be a happy story, well sometimes but I don’t really like happy-ended fairy stories much and this one is going to have a few sad surprises. I hope you enjoy and please leave feedback.

Part One

Liz walked along the sun-drenched sidewalk. It was hot and Liz’s feet hurt. Her shoes were silly, strappy white sandals which she had to wear because they were the only shoes that went with her dress. The dress. It was white with red roses. It was a silky material and fell to a few inches above her knees. The straps were shoe-string and it criss-crossed down her back. It was her favourite, although she did wish it had white roses rather than red but it was a gift from her father and she loved it.
She had just been to the supermarket to pick up a few things for her parents and a magazine for Tess. Alex hadn’t wanted anything - he never does. Alex is so much less demanding than Tess it’s amazing. Tess is Liz’s older sister, older by two years. She’s a senior at Liz’s school and really popular. She’s not a horrible older sister, they’re actually pretty close. She’s pretty with her blonde curls and big blue eyes and petite, shapely figure kind of the opposite of Liz. Liz is taller and slimmer than Tess with straight, long dark hair and big dark brown eyes. Liz is more like Alex, her twin brother. Alex is tall and lanky with dark hair and eyes. He’s five minutes older than her, so Liz is the baby of the family. And often it definitely seems that way. Tess always gets away with anything, Alex is allowed to do anything and Liz gets stuck at home, working in the Crashdown. Liz doesn’t much mind though, all she really wants to do is escape Roswell of course no one actually knows this.
Liz looked up from the sidewalk and in front of her is an ice-cream stand. Slowly she walks over and stands in the queue of two people. She reaches the front after a couple of minutes.
“What can I get you?” The man behind the counter asks her.
“A small caramel-fudge cone please,” Liz replies.
The man sets about getting the ice-cream and Liz stands waiting, waiting.
“There you go,” The man hands her the cone and Liz places the money on the counter.
“Thank you,” Liz smiles up at the man.
“Any time,” The man grinned back at her.
Liz walked off along the sidewalk, licking at the ice-cream.
It was delicious.
Holding the shopping bag in her left hand and the ice-cream in her right she wanted to sit.
Spotting an empty bench she increased her pace.
Setting down the shopping bag, she sat next to the edge of the bench.
She leaned her head back, tipping her face to the sun. It was so warm, and so red when her eyes were shut. She wanted white, like the rose on the card in the supermarket she saw.
But the sun could never make your vision white, it only made it red when your eyes were closed.
Red was so bold, white was so pure.
Tess - red. Liz - white.
Alex was a green.
Maria was yellow. So bright and energetic.
Liz loved to describe people as a colour, colour says a lot about one’s personality.
Everyone was a different colour, different personality.
Kyle, Tess’s friend, was a…well he was a…maybe an orange. Yes an orange.
Michael, Kyle’s broody friend was a brown - definitely a brown.
Liz continued to lick her ice-cream, it was delicious.
She looked up and across the road.
She felt the breath catch in her throat.
A boy was staring at her.
Staring at her with such an expression she had never seen before.
She stared back.
Liz felt something move inside her…she felt something change as she stared at the boy.
Maybe he wasn’t a boy, he looked a little older then Liz.
Boy or man he was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.
Maybe more beautiful than white roses.

Part Two

Liz had to look away.
She felt her face burn.
Is that the sun or am I embarrassed?
She hoped it was the sun.
Quickly she looked up again, and he was still watching her.
Liz looked down.
She waited a few moments before looking again.
He was gone.
Liz scanned along the sidewalk across the road, he was gone.
She looked back down at the ground.
She felt extremely sad.
‘God, what is that?’ she wondered.
She smiled at herself, feeling silly and she got up.
Turning towards the trash can she lifted her head.
And there he was.
He was walking towards her or maybe towards the bench.
He was watching her as he walked.
Liz looked away.
She reached the trash can and threw her cone in
Turning she sat back down on the bench.
He sat down on the bench, only about three feet away from her.
Liz couldn’t breathe again.
Slowly she turned her head and looked at him.
He was looking at his hands.
Liz looked at his profile.
Dark, dark hair.
Tanned skin.
Liz looked back at the ground.
Couldn’t let him catch her watching him.
But she had to look again.
Her eyes meet his.
He’s watching her.
Liz feels her face burn again, it’s not the sun.
Before she turns away she sees him smile slightly.
Probably at her blushing.
Liz did see his eyes before she turned away.
Dark eyes, beautiful eyes.
Liz didn’t want to leave the bench.
Not until he did.
And it didn’t seem like he was leaving.
“Are you waiting for the bus?”
Liz was shocked at his voice. Deep, but sweet and she turned to him.
“Um no, uh are you?” Liz said her voice shaking.
“No,” He said watching her.
Liz didn’t know what to say, so she looked at her hands.
She could feel his eyes on her and she didn’t know what to do.
Should she leave?
Should she stay and see if he’ll talk again?
She could be waiting forever.
‘This is crazy’ she thought and stood up.
Turning she stooped and picked up her shopping bag.
She had to look at him once more.
So she turned and looked at him.
He was looking at his hands.
Liz turned away, sad she hadn’t been able to see his eyes and walked towards the Crashdown.
She only got a few feet when the bag broke.
Her food cans and boxes spilled all over the sidewalk.
Dropping on her knees she tried to gather them up, but some had already drifted off out of her reach.
She didn’t want to look up, she knew her face would be flushed.
But she did and he was standing there holding her cans.
Liz stood up quickly, managing to keep hold of her food.
“I got the rest of the cans,” He said smiling at her.
Liz was amazed by his smile.
He didn’t show his teeth, it was a shy smile but confidant as well.
It was sexy.
‘Sexy?’
“Uh thank you,” Liz said feeling about to fall.
“It’s Ok,” He replied still smiling.
“I think maybe I should carry these and walk with you,” He said.
“Walk with me?” Liz asked.
“Walk with you to your house, you can’t carry all these,” He said gesturing to her full arms.
“Oh, are you sure?” Liz asked feeling a little stupid.
He nodded his head.
“Ok I just live at the Crashdown, so it’s not far,” Liz said starting to walk.
He fell into step beside her.
“The Crashdown? Is that the alien-themed café?” He asked.
Liz was a little surprised, normally everyone knows what the Crashdown is.
“Yeah, my parents own it,” Liz replied looking at the ground.
“I’m sorry I only moved here two weeks ago,” He said apologetically.
Liz looked at him.
“You’re new to Roswell?” Liz asked intrigued. No wonder she’d never seen him before.
“Moved here from Minnesota,” He replied.
“Do you like it here?” Liz asked.
“Yes, I really do,” He replied meeting her eyes then looked away.
They were silent then, and walked slowly to the Crashdown.
Liz reached the Crashdown and opened the door.
Walking in she felt the cool air from the air-conditioner.
“Maybe I should hang out here when it’s hot,” He said behind her.
Liz smiled to herself.
“Yeah, well that and the foods not bad either,” Liz replied and turned to him.
He set the cans and boxes down on the counter.
“Thank you,” Liz looked at him.
“No problem,” He looked at her.
Liz stared.
“I’d better go, I’m having lunch with my parents,” He said.
“Ok,” Liz said.
He smiled and turned away from her towards the door.
He walked away.
Liz walked after him, fast and when she reached him she touched his shoulder.
He turned.
“I’m Liz,” Liz said smiling.
He looked at her.
“I’m Max,” He smiled and walked out the door.
Liz turned towards the counter, smiling.
‘Max’.

Part Three

The rest of Liz’s Sunday had been pretty uneventful.
She caught up on some study during the day.
She had worked the evening shift at the Crashdown.
That’s about it.
Of course during the day, Max had been on her mind.
His eyes, his hair, his voice.
Liz had never felt like this.
She had never had that funny feeling in her stomach, like there was something pulling or squeezing.
It felt nice.
That night before she went to bed she had put her face into her vase of white roses and smelt them deeply.
The scent was beautiful, but when she opened her eyes she didn’t see the roses.
She saw his face.
Pulling her head away, his face faded and the roses appeared.
Smiling slightly she climbed into bed and drifted off to sleep.

Next Morning.

Liz wandered down the school hall with Alex.
“So I’ve got computer lab first period,” Alex said to a distracted Liz.
Liz kept walking.
“Liz?” Alex yelled into her ear.
Liz jumped.
“Huh? Oh sorry Alex,” Liz said sheepishly.
“Yeah,” Alex said looking at her oddly.
“You’ve been out of it for about 24 hours.”
“What? No I’m fine, just a little tired that’s all,” Liz yawned.
“Whatever, so have you seen Tess’s new guy?” Alex asked.
“Tess’s new guy? No, she hasn’t said anything,” Liz said interested.
“Well I heard her on the phone last night gushing to someone about a new guy in her life,” Alex said grinning.
“Doesn’t sound like anything out of the ordinary,” Liz laughed.
Tess was always gushing about a guy.
Alex and Liz teased her about it all the time.
“She sounded really serious,” Alex said reaching his locker.
“Oh well she always is…for the first three weeks,” Liz replied.
“Yeah that’s true,” Alex laughed
“Hey maybe we should have a bet on this one,” Liz saw a glint in Alex’s eyes.
“Yeah Ok,” Liz replied.
“I bet he’ll last at least three months,” Alex stated confidently.
“Woah three months?” Liz said incredulous “That’ll be an all time record for her.”
Alex nodded.
“Ok I’ll bet three weeks,” Liz replied.
Shaking hands and laughed at each other.
“Ok, maybe I’ll go bribe Tess some now, so I can win our bet,” Alex said mischievously.
“Uh uh no way, no bribing of any sorts,” Liz pinched his arm.
“Yeah but that’s cos you know Tess would go for it,” Alex said rubbing his arm.
“Exactly,” Liz said loudly as she walked off to her locker.

Just a quick part for now - post some more tomorrow or the next day.

Part Four.

Liz reached her locker and got her books out.
She had biology first period, her favourite class.
Moving back to shut her locker, she saw someone standing next to her.
“Hi.”
Liz turned and there he was.
Max standing next to her locker.
“Hi,” Liz said shyly looking at the ground.
“So my locker is next to yours,” Max said.
“Um yeh looks that way,” Liz replied quietly.
Max closed his locker gently.
“So um…what class are you in?” He asked quickly.
“Junior,” Liz replied just as quickly.
“Oh right,” Max looked at the ground.
“Are you a junior?” Liz asked hopefully.
“No senior,” Max answered.
“Right,” Liz was disappointed ‘No way would he be interested in me.’
“Um I better get to class,” Max started “Um maybe I’ll seeya at lunch?”
‘Lunch?’
“Yeah, um I’ll seeya later,” Liz replied smiling brightly.
Max smiled shyly at her, his eyes lighting up.
Liz felt faint.
“Bye,” Max said softly and he walked to his class.
“Bye,” Liz whispered after him.
Liz leaned back into her locker, staring after him.
“Hey Liz,” Maria’s voice entered Liz’s mind.
Liz jumped, surprised.
“Maria hey,” Liz exclaimed.
“Woah you were so a million miles away!” Maria laughed.
“Yeah sorry, I’m just a little tired is all,” Liz replied quickly.
“Yeah you must be cos the bell’s already rung,” Maria raised her eyebrows at Liz.
“Oh gosh, I have to get to Bio,” Liz said startled and ran off to her bio-lab.
“Yeah Ok Liz, but Bio is that way,” Maria yelled after her, when she saw Liz run off in the wrong direction.
Liz halted and turned, smiling sheepishly at Maria.
“Yeah, I knew that Maria,” Liz walked slowly past Maria and sprinted to her class.
Maria stared after her, confused.

Later

Liz was walking to lunch with Maria.
It was a hot day, so they were going outside to find a table.
Spotting a free one they sat down and got out their lunch.
“Liz you were weird this morning,” Maria stated.
“Yeah sorry, I didn’t get much sleep last night,” Liz replied looking at the table.
“Oh Ok then,” Maria continued eating her sandwich.
“Hey,” Alex came and sat down next to Maria.
“What’s up Alex?” Maria asked.
“Not much, my computer crashed this morning,” Alex replied cheerily.
“Your computer crashed?” Liz asked.
“Yeah I don’t know what happened, it just crashed,” Alex replied.
“Well now you can figure out what went wrong,” Maria said looking at Alex.
“Yeah, that’ll be fun!” Alex replied sarcastically.
“Are you Ok?” Liz asked looking at Alex.
“Yeah I’m fine,” Alex muttered.
Maria shot a look at Liz.
“Ok this new girl at school, well today she asked me if I could direct her to the library,” Alex started.
“Well that doesn’t sound too bad,” Maria replied.
“Yeah and then I heard her say under her breath that I would definitely know because I look like a library lurker, you know a geek!” Alex finished.
“Oh Alex we are so sorry,” Maria couldn’t stop laughing.
Liz was laughing too.
“Ok I’m so glad my geekdom makes you laugh, really I am!” Alex said outraged.
Maria stopped eventually “Sorry Alex.”
“Yeah I’m sorry Alex,” Liz replied.
Alex nodded “Whatever.”
“But you aren’t a geek,” Maria said.
“Yeah come on Alex, that girl was just an idiot,” Liz agreed.
Alex nodded.
“Yeah what does a tall, beautiful senior know about me right?” Alex replied cheerfully.
“Beautiful?” Maria repeated.
“Senior?” Liz repeated.
“Yeah this girl was like totally beautiful and everything,” Alex said in a dreamy voice.
“Oh my God, Alex has got a crush,” Maria said loudly.
“What? No,” Alex hissed checking to see if anyone had heard her.
“I am able to appreciate the beauty of a woman without having to fell head over heels in love,” Alex managed to say with a straight face.
Liz and Maria weren’t able to listen with a straight faces and burst out laughing.
“Oh my God Alex you really are the sweetest thing,” Maria laughed.
“Yeah Alex you are such a cutie,” Liz said reaching over and pinching Alex’s cheek.
“Hey, I’m not a cutie…I’m a man….a real man,” Alex said in defense.
Maria laughed.
“Of course you are big brother,” Liz replied grinning.
Liz then continued to eat her sandwich and the table settled with silence.
“Hey,” A voice came from behind Liz.
Liz turned and there was Max.
Maria and Alex stared at Max.
“Hi,” Liz said shyly.
“So I said I’d see you at lunch,” Max said feeling more than a little uncomfortable under the stares of Maria and Alex.
“Um yeah, do you want to sit down?” Liz asked blushing.
Maria caught the blush and was intrigued.
Max sat and was greeted by Maria and Alex still staring.
“Hey I’m Maria,” Maria stated looking at Max suspiciously.
“I’m Alex, Liz’s brother,” Alex said, his voice issuing a warning.
“Oh right, guys this is Max,” Liz said.
“Hi,” Max smiled to both Maria and Alex.
“Um Max is new here,” Liz said.
“Are you a junior?” Maria asked.
“No I’m a senior,” Max replied.
Maria raised her eyebrows at Liz.
Liz refused to look at Maria.
“Where are you from?” Alex asked.
“Minnesota,” Max replied.
“So how come you moved?” Maria asked.
“Um my father’s a lawyer and he took over a law practise here from an old friend,” Max replied.
Silence fell.
Liz finally worked up the courage to talk.
“So um do you like West Roswell,” She asked quietly.
Max turned and looked at her.
“I do…uh I mean I really like it here,” Max replied.
Liz smiled as she watched him.
Max smiled back shyly.
Liz looked past Max and noticed Tess approaching the table.
Tess was smiling broadly at her.
“Hey Liz,” Tess chirped brightly.
“Hi Tess,” Liz replied a little suspicious.
Tess looked down and noticed Max sitting there.
Tess smiled hugely at Max.
Liz looked at her.
She looked happy.
She looked too happy.
Max turned his head and looked up at Tess.
Tess’s face brightened even further.
Liz watched Tess and knew something was strange about this scene.
“Max!” Tess almost yelped, delighted “I can’t believe you two know each other, this is fantastic.”
Liz looked at Max, who had turned to look at Liz.
“You two know each other?” Liz said blankly.
Max’s expression had turned strange.
He had sort of turned off, his face was sort of closed off.
Liz looked from Tess’s happy face to Max’s blank face.
“Of course we know each other silly,” Tess replied “He’s the one I told you about.”
Liz felt funny.
“Huh?” Liz replied still blank.
“Oh maybe I didn’t tell you,” Tess mused “Oh never mind now you know.”
“I know what?” Liz was still blank.
“You’re a real dummy sometimes Lizy, he’s the new guy in my life,” Tess said impatiently.
Liz couldn’t move.
“Oh right,” Liz replied not able to look anyone in the eye.
“So Max why don’t you come and sit with me?” Tess batted her eyelashes at Max.
Max turned and looked at Liz.
Liz felt his eyes on her, but knew if she looked at him then everyone would know.
“I’ll seeya later Liz,” Max said quietly and only Liz picked up on the sadness.
“Goodbye,” Liz thought she said, or maybe she said nothing.
“I’ll see you guys at home, bye Maria,” Tess said cheerily.
“Bye Tess,” Maria replied.
Liz sat still and silent.
She tried to imagine she was surrounded by her white roses, but all she could see was his face.
And all she could feel was the pain, that was going to come.

Part Five

The rest of Liz’s day was strange.
It was like she didn’t feel or see anything.
Everything just passed her by.
She stood staring into her locker at the end of the day.
What had happened?
Tess and Max?
How could that happen?
Liz shook her head, trying to rid her mind of them.
The locker next to her opened.
“Liz,” He said slowly.
Liz tried not to hear anything.
“Liz, I’m…”
“It’s Ok,” Liz said simply.
“No…”
“Yes, you’re going out with my sister,” Liz replied “That’s great, I hope you two are happy.”
Liz shut her locker and looked at him.
“Really, Tess is great,” Liz said.
“No Liz please I…”
“Max, you and Tess look great together,” Liz said smiling.
Max looked down.
“I’ll seeya later,” Liz said cheerily.
Liz walked off quickly down the hall.
‘Please let me make it outside.’
“Liz wait…” Max’s voice was shut off by the door closing behind Liz.
Liz ran and ran.
She couldn’t run fast enough.
She couldn’t leave it behind her.
She slowed down to a halt and stared around her.
‘They look great together…I hope you’re really happy…My sister is great,’ Liz’s comments resounded in her head.
‘Had I actually managed to say those things to him,’ Liz wondered.
Liz wandered home to the Crashdown.
She got to her room and collapsed on her bed.
“Lizy, Lizy,” Tess yelled entering her room.
Liz lay silent.
“Hey Lizy,” Tess lay next to Liz on the bed.
“Hey Tess,” Liz replied tiredly.
“So what did you think?” Tess said excited.
‘I think my only chance of happiness had been taken away,’ Liz thought briefly.
“Of what?” Liz replied pretending to be dumb.
“Of what? Of Max of course!” Tess exclaimed.
“Oh he seems great,” Liz replied not able to look Tess in the eye.
“Isn’t he though,” Tess started dreamily “When I saw him in the park I just knew, you know?”
“You knew what?” Liz asked quietly.
“That I loved him,” Tess replied simply.
“How can you love him already,” Liz asked.
“I don’t know, I just do,” Tess answered still dream-like.
Liz couldn’t speak.
“So are you happy for me?” Tess asked hugging Liz.
Liz needed a moment.
“Yes Tess, I’m always happy for you,” Liz replied hugging Tess back.
“You’re the best sister Liz,” Tess hugged her again and leapt off the bed running out to the hall.
Liz lay quiet on the bed.
Tears started slowly running over her face.
Furiously she rubbed at her eyes, trying to stop them.
‘How can I feel this way when I’ve only known him for 2 days,’ Liz’s head screamed.
But she knew the moment she saw him, that everything was different.
She knew that everything had changed.
Her heart had changed.
Standing up she shook her head violently.
‘STOP IT. STOP IT,’ Her head screamed.
She flailed her arms out trying to rid the feelings inside of her.
One of her arms knocked over her vase of white roses and the other flung a photo across the room.
Dropping to her knees, she picked up the photo.
Tess, Alex and Liz smiled out brightly with arms around each other.
They all looked slightly warped from behind the broken glass.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE FEEDBACK!

Part Six

Liz woke the next morning with a dull ache in her stomach.
Sunlight was visible through her window.
Obviously the sun was feeling happier than she was.
Liz got out of bed and wandered out and down the hall.
Pausing at Tess’s door she slowly opened it and silently crept in.
Standing at the open door she looked over at Tess.
She was sound asleep and looked at complete peace.
Her heart was in one piece.
Liz closed her eyes and left the room, careful not to wake her.
Wandering back to her room she sat on her bed.
‘This is gonna be Ok,’ Liz told herself ‘I mean I don’t even know him so how could I have any feelings for him? Plus he’s with Tess, and she’s happy. And if he’s with Tess he would never want anything to do with me in that way. So it’s gonna be fine.’
Liz finally managed to convince herself that everything would be Ok.
But somewhere in her mind she knew this wasn’t true.

Liz wandered to school in a white skirt and yellow singlet.
It was a really nice day. The sky was blue and the sun was out.
She walked slow, not in any hurry to reach the school.
Alex and Tess had left earlier.
Alex had a computer class to get to and Tess was hoping to catch Max before class.
Liz looked up from the ground and noticed a jeep had stopped about 50 metres ahead of her.
Someone jumped out of it and was walking towards her.
The sun was shining so brightly in her eyes she couldn’t see who it was.
Liz walked with her head down thinking about Tess.
She was so happy.
“Liz,” The voice in front her said.
Liz looked up.
Max appeared to have a halo around him.
“Hi,” Liz said not looking him in the eye.
“Hi,” Max replied softly.
Liz shuffled her feet and looked across the road.
“Liz I want to talk to you,” He said quickly.
Liz watched the jeep drive off.
“What about your ride?” She asked.
“I’d rather walk,” He replied and Liz looked at his arms.
He was wearing a white loose t-shirt and dark shorts.
He looked so casual and comfortable.
Liz didn’t know what to say.
“Liz when I saw you the other day I…”
“So how did you meet Tess?” Liz interrupted quickly.
Max looked down and away from Liz.
Liz knew he didn’t want to talk about Tess.
“Um I was just walking down the street the first day we came here and she came up and chatted away,” Max said quickly, not sounding very interested in the topic.
“And then you started seeing her,” Liz finished for him.
“Yeah,” Max muttered still looking at the ground.
“That’s so great,” Liz was overly cheerful.
“You think so?” Max scoffed.
Liz looked at him sideways.
“Yes Tess is great,” Liz said slowly.
Max was silent and he turned and looked at her.
“Liz that day I saw you, from across the street,” Max paused.
“Something inside me moved, changed,” He continued “I was so sure of something, so confident of how I felt about…”
Liz looked at him.
“Am I completely off track,” He asked blushing.
Liz looked into his eyes.
“No,” She whispered softly.
Max smiled shyly.
“You know this thing with Tess is only really a casual thing and I could just…”
Liz had stopped still.
Max turned and looked at her.
“Max I can’t break my sister’s heart,” Liz said slowly.
Max watched her closely.
“I can’t cause her that much pain,” Liz whispered not able to look in his eyes.
“What?” Max croaked.
“I can not break my only sister’s heart,” Liz whispered faintly looking up into his face.
Max searched her face.
“What about your heart?” Max whispered walking towards her.
Liz faltered briefly looking in his eyes.
“I’m strong…Tess she just isn’t,” Liz replied faintly.
Liz looked at him.
Max had closed off, his eyes and expression were blank.
“Well I have to break up with her anyway,” Max said distantly looking away.
“What?” Liz was startled.
Max looked at her.
“No please you can’t,” Liz pleaded.
“No? You can’t tell me who I date,” Max said angrily.
“Please Max, please it’ll break her heart,” Liz pleaded, begging him with her eyes.
Max watched Liz for a moment.
“Why do you care so much about Tess’s heart? What about my heart?” Max whispered, and he brushed a stray piece of hair from her cheek and tucked it behind her ear.
Liz’s eyes closed involuntarily at his touch.
Opening her eyes slowly she saw him watching her, his eyes full.
“She is my only sister,” Liz whispered.
Max stared at her.
“Fine,” He stated “Fine, but can you handle this?”
Liz stared at him.
“Yes.”
Max stood for a moment searching her face.
“Fine,” He said resigned to her answer.
Turning away he walked off leaving her behind.
Liz watched him as he walked faster and faster away from her.
Slowly she turned and walked into the nearest side street.
Walking to the closest doorway, she sat down and cried.
She could still feel his hand on her cheek.
Max stopped and turned around to look for Liz.
She was gone.
Turning towards the wall, he walked towards it.
He couldn’t contain his frustration.
Flinging his arm out, he punched the wall over and over again.
He couldn’t feel the blood that poured from his hand.
He could only feel Liz’s skin under his fingers.

Sorry I know it isn’t that long.
