You guys are absolutly going to kill me...oh well. I have ANOTHER story in my head. If you guys like this one, I'm going to post new parts to all SIX of my stories tonight. Later!

Title: Escaping Destiny
Author: Xan (brigttabehr)
Disclaimer: the usual
Category: M/L FF
Summary: after Max and Liz jump off bridge in “Destiny”; they keep running and never look back. They’ve lived for ten years without contact with anyone from Roswell or the FBI. One day it all comes back to haunt them…

~Prologue~

February 8, 2010
Outside Colorado Springs, CO

“Matthew Alexander Evans and Azura Marie Evans, get your butts in here this instant!” Max hollered at his nine-year-old twins.

“Uh-oh,” Azura groaned.

Matt agreed.

“Busted.”

The two hopped off their horses and ran across the field to their three story mansion.

“We didn’t do it!” Azura said as they walked in the back door.

“Oh, so you two weren’t the ones who turned Belle’s hair green?”

“That was all Belle, Mommy,” Matt insisted.

Liz rolled her eyes.

“Right, your one year old sister turned her hair green,” Max snorted.

“Maybe it was Michael,” Azura suggested.

“What did I do?” the five year old asked.

“Nothing, sweetie,” Liz assured, shoting her daughter a scolding glare. “Azura was just playing around.”

“Without doing anything to your brother, can you two please take him upstairs and get ready for diner?” their father asked.

The twins nodded and lead their younger brother upstairs. Liz smiled and shook her head.

“I swear, those two are just too much sometimes.”

Max wrapped his arms around her waist and whispered, “Yeah, but they were so much fun to make.”

“You’re so bad!” Liz laughed.

“Wanna see just how bad I can be?”

“Well—“ Liz’s response was cut off by the phone.

“Evans residence,” Max answered cheerfully.

“Max? Is that you?”

Max paled.

“Alex?” he choked out.

Any playful thoughts Liz had vanished.

“Yeah. Wow, I can’t believe we finally found you!”

“Uh, what do you need Alex?”

“Jeez, Max, don’t you have anything else to say? We’ve been searching for you two for ten years now.”

“I’m aware of that. What do you want?”

Max cringed at his own hostile tone.

“Just wanted to make sure it was really you. Isabel, Michael, Maria, Tess and I are outside your gate.”

Max paled more.

“Wh-what?”

“We’re here. Are you going to let us in or not? We have some things to discuss with you two.”

“Sure,” Max mumbled and pushed the button to open their massive gate.

“Thanks, see you in a few minutes.”

“Uh-huh,” Max grunted and hung up.

“What’s going on, honey?”

“I think our past has come back to bite us in the ass,” he moaned.

Wow, you guys rock! As promised, here's part one...

~Part One~

“Look, guys, we don’t know what’s kept them away or what they’ve been through the past ten years or what their lives are like, so be nice. They’ll probably put up a strong front, but if I know Liz, they’re probably really troubled on the inside,” Alex said when they pulled through the gate.

“Well, it doesn’t look like they’re troubled financially! This place is huge,” Maria marveled as she took in the 700-acre plot with stables, a barn, a lake, a pool, tennis court, basketball court, mansion, and five-car garage.

“I agree. Look at those cars: a silver BMW Z3 Roadster, black Lincoln Navigator, black Jeep Wrangler, red Porsche Boxter, and a green Jaguar. Look’s like the're loaded,” Michael said.

“Like Alex said, its probably just for show,” Tess said.

Isabel turned to look at her.

“Right. A show for whom? They’re in the middle of nowhere!”

Tess shrugged and returned to her thoughts. ‘I’m going to see Max again! Wait until he sees how grown up I am, he’ll be begging for me to get with him,’ she thought with a giggle.

**********************************************************************

“God, I’m not ready for this!” Liz shrieked, pacing in the living room.

“Madame, calm down. You’ll be fine,” Franz, their butler, said reassuringly.

Just as Liz began to calm, the doorbell rang.

“AH!”

“Don’t worry, Madame, I’ll get it,” Franz said with a smile.

Max joined Liz in the living room and squeezed her hand.

**We’ll be fine, sweetie**he said through their connection.

Liz smiled weakly and stared at the doorway her old friends would be coming through momentarily.

“Wow!” she heard all five exclaim as they walked into the house.

All time seemed to stop as her five, well; four friends stepped into the room. Before any words could be spoken, two screams sounded from upstairs. A second later, little Michael ran by laughing evilly, followed by a pink haired Matt and blue haired Azura.

“I told you it was Michael!” Azura shrieked as she ran by her parents to get to the kitchen.

Another second passed before Michael came running back into the room, screaming about his now pink hair. The twins followed with shocked looks on their faces and Franz entered carrying baby Belle. Max and Liz looked at him for an explanation.

“Well?” Max asked. “What happened?”

Franz shrugged. “Belle thought Michael would look better with pink hair.”

“What did I tell you?” Matt said, looking at his mother.

Liz grinned.

“Well, you got me there. Franz, can you take them upstairs and change their hair back to their normal colors?”

“Of course, Madame.”

Franz bowed and led the children out of the room. Max and Liz turned back to their guests, amused by their shocked expressions.

Maria was the first to find her voice.

“Are—are those your children?” she stuttered.

“Yes. Well, them and Parker, but he’s at a friend’s house. Oh, Desire too,” replied Max.

“Where’s she?” Isabel asked.

“In Liz.”

“Oh.”

“So, uh, are you two married, then?” a pale Tess asked.

Max wrapped his arms around his wife and nodded dreamily.

“Nine years now,” Liz said while looking into her husband’s eyes.

“We got married a month before Azura and Matt were born,” Max added.

“When was that?” Maria asked.

“They were born on November 2, 2000,” Liz replied absently.

“What?” Michael exploded. “That means you were pregnant before you disappeared!”

“Actually, an Antarian pregnancy only lasts a month.”

“Oh.”

A silence fell over the group.

“Madame Liz, Master Max, Larek is on the telecom for you two,” Franz announced.

**Uh-oh**

**This can’t be good**Liz agreed.

“Would you excuse us for a moment?” Max asked.

The group nodded silently and the couple ran into the communications room.

“Larek, what’s wrong?” Max asked as he switched the screen on.

The handsome Antarian with blue eyes and black hair sighed and ran his fingers through his hair nervously.

“You’re not going to like it, your Majesties.”

“Tell us,” Liz said firmly.

“Khivar has escaped.”

“What? How the hell did that happen?” Max yelled.

“I don’t know, but that’s not the worst part. Zan, he took your mother with him when he escaped.”

“What do we need to do to get her back?”

“Return home as soon as possible.”

“Thank you, Larek,” Liz said.

Larek nodded and bowed to the screen.

“I’ll see you soon. Goodbye, your Majesties.”

Liz switched the screen off and muttered, “Great, now we have even more stuff to explain.”

**********************************************************************

Meanwhile…

“So much for your theory of them being all troubled and unhappy, Alex,” Maria muttered after her former best friend left the room.

“I don’t get it. They didn’t seem too happy to see us at all,” Isabel complained, upset that he brother hadn’t even hugged her.

“Why would they? It looks like they have the perfect little life they’ve always wanted. Jesus, they have five kids with another one on the way. I bet they haven’t even thought about us once,” Michael sulked.

“Tess? You okay?” Alex asked, realizing that the normally talkative girl hadn’t said a word since Max and Liz’s announcement that they were married.

“I just never thought that they’d be married or that they’d have kids or that they’d be so…so happy.”

Tess looked like she had been punched in the gut.

Isabel snorted. “Did you really think that Max would spend the last ten years with Liz and somehow fall in love with you when he couldn’t even stand to be around you ten years ago?”

Tess just looked at the floor.

Michael’s head snapped up as he realized something.

“Guys, who did their butler say was on the what?”

Alex thought a moment and his eyes widened as he came to the same realization.

“He said that Larek was on the telecom.”

“Telecom? Isn’t that an alien device?” Maria asked.

Michael nodded. “Yes, and Larek is the guy who contacted us trying to get in touch with Max, remember?”

The others nodded.

“What the hell is going on?” Isabel mumbled.

Part 2

“Franz, why are those people downstairs?” Matt asked.

Azura answered first.

“Dummy, that’s Aunt Isabel, Aunt Maria, Uncle Alex and Uncle Michael.”

“Oh. So who’s the other lady?”

Azura shrugged and looked at Franz. He sighed.

“That’s Tess,” he said with barely disguised disgust.

“I know who she is! She’s the hoochie who tried to take Daddy from Mommy.”

“Michael! Where did you hear that?” Franz asked.

“Uncle Larek. He was talking about her with Daddy at the palace before we left.”

The raven haired, blue-eyed butler chuckled.

“Larek would say that. He always hated Ava.”

“Why are they all here?” Azura asked.

“They’ve been looking for your parents since they disappeared ten years ago. They were worried about them.”

“That’s silly! Why would they look for us on Earth? We’ve only been here a year!” Matt exclaimed.

Franz smiled.

“Yes, but they didn’t know that. Everyone thought that they were still on Earth. They never thought that your parents would go to Antar.”

“Oh,” the three children said in unison.

“So, when are we gonna eat?” Matt whined.

Franz shrugged.

“I don’t know. Let me ask your parents what they wish for me to do. Do NOT use your powers on each other while I’m gone.”

Azura, Matt, Michael and even Belle gave him their most innocent smiles.

“Why don’t I trust them?” he muttered to himself as he walked down the grand main staircase.

“Hello?” seven-year-old Parker called from the front door.

“Ah, good evening Parker.”

“Hey Ranz. Where is everyone?”

“Well, your siblings are upstairs and your parents are in the living room with Isabel, Michael, Maria, Alex and Tess.”

“The gerbil?”

Franz laughed.

“Is that one of your mother’s?”

Parker nodded.

“Yeah, she’s the person Mom’s been dreading seeing the most. I think she’s part of the reason they haven’t bothered to track their friends down. How’s it going in there?”

“I don’t know. Larek called on the telecom so your parents had to excuse themselves after only a few minutes.”

Parker went pale.

“What did your brother want?”

“I don’t know, but I’m sure that everything is fine.”

“Will we have to return home?”

“Parker, this is your home.”

Parker shook his head.

“No, its not. Azura, Matt and I were born and raised on Antar. Mike was only four and Belle wasn’t even born when we came to Earth last year so its more their home, not ours. Its also Mom and Dad’s, but my home will always be Antar.”

Franz sighed and placed a hand on the young child’s shoulder.

“I know how you feel. Don’t worry, you’ll see Antar again.”

“I hope so. Well, I guess I’ll go upstairs with the others. Don't forget to tell me all the gory details later,” said Parker, nodding his head toward the living room.

“I won’t.”

Parker grinned and run upstairs.

‘If only I felt that returning home was a good thing,’ Franz thought. Max and Liz, who were heading back to the living room, shook him from his thoughts.

“Did Parker go upstairs?”

“Yes, your Highness.” Liz rolled her eyes. “Oh, Matt wants to know when they’re going to eat.”

Max smacked his forehead.

“I totally forgot. Um, can you take their diners up to them?”

“Of course, your Majesty.”

Max grinned.

“Oh, come on, Ranz. Knock off the Majesty crap.”

Ranz smirked.

“Only if you knock off the Franz crap.”

“But Ranz is such an odd name! Our neighbors would get suspicious.”

“Liz, I highly doubt that. Besides, do I look like a ‘Franz’?”

Liz snorted.

“Okay, I’ll grant you that, but at least let us call you ‘Franz’ when humans unaware of our ‘alienness’ are around.”

“Deal. Now, I think you two should get back in there and sort things out.”

Max shook his head as they walked away.

“Taking orders from our butler. Who’d have thought?”

Ranz smiled and prayed that the King and Queen’s friends wouldn’t kill them.
