Title: Verona
Category: CC M/L and little bits of M/M, A/I, K/T
Rating: R for strong language
Disclaimer: None are mine
Feedback: Always welcomed.
Summary: Remix of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The story takes place in a different kind of Antar.
Author’s Note: The aliens in this fanfic have no powers whatsoever. They just have different molecular systems, but nothing phenotypic. This has been done before and I just wanted to improve on it.

Prologue

“And all the world’s a stage.”

Liz smirked, waving her fingers to a tuneless music; the smoke from her cigarette swirled beautifully out the balcony doors. Her abandoned journal lay sprawled on the seat beside her, its empty pages flipping on the whim of the morning wind. She glanced at it, the gold letters embossed on its cover, and laughed. What a joke. Diaries and journals were for people who had no one to speak to. She had 300.

The rising suns of West Antar glazed across the theatre. She counted them. There were only three today, circling the planet in blazing intervals. A low cloud passed through the green glass windows and a glimpse of a shadow disappeared across the theatre’s sidewalk.

Her golden eyes flickered inward, sharpened. Shadows were never to be taken lightly. She leaned forward, the sun warming her sharp bronze cheek. Her lips parted in deep concentration, eyes moving back and forth across the empty sidewalk, searching for anything out of the ordinary. A dove fluttered through the window and her fingers skirted to the edge of her jean leg, touching the unmistakable bulge of a weapon underneath. Her eyes slid green and she slowly leaned back on her seat.

You can never be too careful.

She grimaced, feeling her heart beat painfully. “I don’t know what it is. I feel like something’s going to happen. Something wrong.” Her heart sank and she grimaced in deep pain. Her face was beginning to hurt. “I don’t know why I feel this way. I have no idea why I feel this way.”

She picked up her journal, fingering its pages between her long fingers. She turned to the first page, already written in a scrawling cursive, a dedication.

To my dearest, Elizsabeth Julianna Capulet. Or so you would be called, Parker. A little advice I think you should have. A person who is ashamed of her name is also ashamed of herself. My utmost love, C. Capulet.

Liz took another breath of her cigarette, squinting against the introduction of her journal. Claudia’s words unsettled her. She became still then. Her eyes shifted to the chair in front of her; Liz tapped her cigarette on its post, picked up a pen and began writing.

Dear Journal, my name is Liz Parker.

It felt foolish and silly, but she didn’t stop.

And 5 days ago, I died.

It was furiously erased. That was too dramatic. She started again.

Dear Journal. My name is Liz Parker. And 5 days ago, Sean asked me to marry him.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am really glad that you like this fanfic. I've been thinking about this for a long time and I just wanted it to write. The next part is more serious than this (and longer too). Remember, this is Verona, Antar. Expect a Romeo and Juliet with a definite twist.
