Part 1

The day had been beautiful with the wind whistling softly yet crisp. Temperature was steady at 15 degrees but that’s how the residents of Cahaba city liked it. The streets were buzzing with people walking and attending to their needs, friendly yet proud of the city. Though the streets were buzzing with people and laughter, not too far away tears and sorrow were reminiscent in the air.

For one family, life had changed dramatically in a span of a week. Born was a baby but the joy of it all was taken away too hastily. Looking down upon the people gathered at the cemetery, people sat in chairs and held their composure yet seven individuals couldn’t. Two women four men and a child all huddled together holding hands. Not far away, there was an older woman holding a baby bundled up in a pink jacket and blanket.

As the priest recited a verse from the Bible, the six individuals were lost in their own thoughts.

Isabel Evans Whitman kept looking at the baby and wondered how to tell her goddaughter that she lost her mother so young. While her husband, Alex Whitman, gave her hand tight squeeze. Married for almost a year she was glad to have him there, she wondered how she would feel if she ever lost him. ‘Imagine what Max is going through then,’ she said to herself.

Beside Isabel was her best friend, Maria Deluca Guerin, who tried to keep her emotions under control but she couldn’t. She would miss her so much; all three were like sisters to each other and now, it felt as if a part of her was gone. She looked at her child of two years with his father and was eternally grateful she still had them. While her husband, Michael Guerin looked at his best friend who remained motionless. He didn’t know what to say to him. ‘What do you say to someone after they have lost their heart?’ He thought to himself.

To the right of Michael was Kyle Valenti, the last member to join the group. It had been in grade school when he met, Max, his sister Isabel, Alex, Maria and Michael. They were inseparable, even to the point where each set of parents felt they had five kids. They went thru high school together but went to different colleges. While Max and Michael went overseas, Isabel, Alex, Maria and him stayed closer to home. He remembered when he first met her and was amazed at how instantly she fitted into the group. She was like a sister to him, all three were. Always nagging him about girls and his Buddha. ‘I’m going to miss you so much’, he cried inside.

As the priest ended the ceremony, all of them looked at each other and onto to Max who now just stood there as others began to scatter and head back to the house.

He stood there motionless as they poured the dirt on the coffin; he wanted to scream but there was no strength on his part. Life will get better as he was told but how? How was it to get better? He wanted to know!!

In a day his whole life changed, nobody could understand what he felt. Not his friends, his sister or his parents could fathom the idea of losing one’s love.
He had everything, his love, happiness, joy and success but then it all disappeared and left was sorrow.

Yet he had to be strong for he had another person to think about, someone who was precious and needed him. He would be there for her. He promised himself there and then that for now until the end of time, his daughter would be the centre of his universe.

So lost in his thoughts and private hell, he didn’t hear two bodies walking towards and standing beside him.

“Max. We have to leave.” As one said

“Max … buddy.” The other said, a little louder, not quite sure if he heard him.

Turning around, he saw his sister and his best friend, tear stained faces looking at him.

“Max, we have to leave, everyone is heading toward the house.”

He didn’t speak but just nodded and headed in the direction of where his friends were.

Michael: “You ride in the car with him, Is.”

Isabel: “Michael?”

Michael: “Yeah.”

Isabel: “How are we going to get through this especially Max?”

Michael: “I have no clue, Is.”

Isabel: “One day at a time, Right?”

Michael: “Yeah, we will help each other out and get him and her through this.”

Michael: “Now, come on, everyone is waiting for us.”

As they both walked towards their friends and piled into their cars, they hoped that somehow the laughter, joy and happiness that died, would once again be alive.

Part 2

As the cars headed to the house, one filled with eerie silence; you could hear a pin drop while the other, sobs of tears that were held back, now running a vengeance.

Maria: “I can’t believe she is gone.”

Alex: “Shh, it’s okay Maria.”

Maria: “I’m sorry, I am trying to be strong for Max but I already her miss so much.”

Kyle: “I know, I mean it seems like yesterday we found out that she was pregnant.”

Alex: “Yeah, do you remember Max went completely insane and bought presents for the whole company and showed strangers the sonogram of the baby?”

Michael: “Alex, you don’t have to tell me that, I worked with the man. I mean every time he talked about the baby, his eyes were filled with love.”

Kyle: “I am going to miss her; she was my meditation buddy and now she … “ The tears that he held for so long silently poured down his face

Michael: “All of us are going to miss her, Kyle.”

The tears that were held by the four friends so long silently poured down their face. As they rounded the house, each got out and wiped their faces and knew they had to be strong, not only each other but for her also.

As Isabel lead them into the house, Max ignored everyone and went straight to the backyard and onto the swing he built not so long.

He wanted to be by himself and wallow in his own misery. It really hadn’t sunk in that she was really gone. He looked up in the sky wondering and staring.

“Max, honey’’

Max looked down and saw his grandma Anna staring at him with love and affection. A woman in her late 50’s with blond hair that was now tied up in her bun and her eyes, so blue like the ocean. Her flawless complexion showed a few signs of wrinkles yet she was very beautiful woman.

Max: “Grandma, I didn’t hear you.”

Anna: “What are you staring at up there?”

Max: “I really don’t know.”

Anna: “You know, when your grandfather died, I felt a piece of my heart left with him and it did but you know what, I found comfort in?”

Max shook his head.

Anna: “Memories.”

Max: “Memories? “

Anna: “You know baby, you forget the specific conversations you had but you remember the memories. Though, the memories came after someone dies, it is what keeps you sane and moving on. Max, you were lucky to love and be loved back by such an amazing woman. There is a lot of hatred in this world but there is also love, people die and we can’t explain the reasons for they are unknown, but your love is still live and the strength to go is in that love.”

Max: “How did you get over grandpa’s death?”

Anna: “You don’t really get over it, but you move on, one step at a time and I know that it may seems too much right now, but it does get easier. Those memories in your heart cherish them because I do everyday.”

Placing her hand on top of his, she got up and asked, “ Do you want to come inside now?”

Max: “Not really.”

As Anna began to walk away, she turned around and looked at Max again, “You know it is ok to cry, mourn for her.” With that she turned around and headed straight back into the house.

Mourn her, but he had no more tears or the willpower to cry anymore.

Part 3

Later that night, almost everyone went home except for his friends who were sitting in his living room.

Kyle: “So I have a question to ask, what is the baby’s name?”

Maria: “What are you talking about?”

Kyle: “The baby doesn’t have an official name except for being called baby Evans.”

Alex: “He’s right. We can’t keep calling her baby Evans for the rest of her life.”

Michael: “Yeah, think about the names people might call her when she gets older,” he said as he chuckled.

Isabel: “I know that they discussed names but I have no idea if they chose a particular one.”

Maria: “The house is so quiet. It’s odd because it was always filled with chaos and laughter”.

Alex: “Hey guys, do you remember the time when …”

As the five friends talked about their memories and loss, Max, meanwhile was in his room looking at his sleeping daughter.

Max: “Look at you; you have no idea do you. Mom was right, at least all of us know that we lost your mother but you still don’t. To you everything is perfect. I promise you that I will try to be the best father that I can.”

At that moment, his daughter opened her eyes and smiled at him. She had dark brown hair along big brown eyes, reminiscent of her father but her complexion resembled her mothers, fair.

As he turned around, he noticed a white envelope with his name on it, standing beside the night lamp. As he picked up the envelope and situated himself on his bed, he knew it was from her. It smelled like vanilla as she always did.

My dear Max

If you reading this letter that means that I
am no longer with you and the baby was delivered
safe. I know you are angry and mad that I didn’t
tell you about the risks of the pregnancy but I
couldn’t destroy your happiness. I was told that
there was a chance that I couldn’t bear children
and if I did, it would be a risk. I didn’t tell you
because I believed in faith that I would have
children and I was right, a beautiful baby girl.

There are so many things I want to say to
you but for now, I wanted to tell you that you
made happy and I will always love you Maxwell
Philip Evans. Tell everyone I love them and I am
sorry for leaving but you all will be fine because
you have each other.

Max, I know we talked about baby names and
we decided on one but I changed my mine. Please
grant me this ok, I want you to name our daughter
Elizabeth, Elizabeth Anna Evans. She will be your
little Liz and hopefully one day, you can be
reunited with the other.

I love you, and no more tears, ok. I am in a
better place and I will always be with you and
her. Max, I know your always say, you only love
once and marry once but if happiness is at your
door, please don’t shut the door to it. Live for you
and her because I have.

Please take care of each other.

Remember, one for all, all for one. I love you Evans.

Love your Wife

As he put down the letter, tears graced his face; he walked over to his daughter who now become fascinated with his thumb and grasp tightly with all her strength into her tiny hands. Max smiled at the action and knew she was daddy’s little girl who had him wrapped around her finger, already.

The door to his room was then opened slightly with his sister’s voice filling in the room.

Isabel: “Max, can we come in? We wanted to see her.”

Max: “Come on guys. I want you to meet someone.”

“Who?” asked Alex as they all walked over to where Max and the baby was.

Max: “Meet Elizabeth Anna Evans. Tess wanted her name to be that.”

Michael: “Elizabeth, Huh?”

Both Max and Michael shared a look of understanding of where the name came from; the look went unnoticed by everyone except for Isabel.

As the baby looked at all of them, each began introducing themselves to their niece.

Isabel/Maria: “Hi Liz, We are your Aunts Isabel and Maria. Hello precious!!!”

Michael: “We are your uncles; I am your Uncle Michael.”

Kyle: “And I am your Uncle Kyle!!”

Alex: “And last but not least I am your Uncle Alex; I will be the one saving you from Michael and Kyle. Love you!!!”

Isabel: “This handsome man over here is your dear old dad.”

As Isabel pointed to Max, Liz looked straight to him and both father and daughter looked at each other sharing the same smile

Maria: “You know she is probably looking at us thinking, who are we? And why are we making these weird faces at her?”

Everyone laughed at the comment and it appeared so did Liz. It was the first time they laughed since a week ago at the hospital.

Isabel: “We are going to get through this, you know!!”

Michael: “Yeah, we are. What was Tessa’s favourite saying?”

Everyone replied, “One For All, All For One.”

Maria: “We are going to be ok!! Welcome to the world Elizabeth Anna Evans!!”

As the six friends stood around and were mesmerized by the sleeping baby, up above the highest sky, someone had a smile on her face.

Tell me what you think and I want to say thanks for all those who left feedback. It was encouraging because this is my first fic.

Part 4

Six Months Later …

As she got out of the elevator on the 11th floor, she wondered why she had been called. She couldn’t sleep last night and kept poor Alex up the whole night. She went thru all kind of scenarios and still she couldn’t come up anything. It bugged her when she didn’t have the control of the situation. She was used to being called the Christmas Nazi, because there were things that had to be done a certain way and she wanted done her way. Nobody attempted to question her. They knew to accept it and just go along with her. She loved that kind of control, as she admitted to herself. But this situation, she had no control at all. As she rounded the corner, she saw Michael.

“Michael, what are you doing here?”

Michael: “Isabel, I could ask you the same thing.”

Isabel: “Well, he called me last night saying he needed to see me about some unfinished business.”

Michael: “He said the same thing here”

Isabel: “I wonder what this is about, I mean why only the two of us and nobody else.”

As she finished her last statement, the door opened and revealed a man in his late 50’s staring at them. Charles Advan II was a friendly man that knew Diane and Philip Evans since they were kids. He grown to love their children and as well as their friends. They were like his kids to him. When Tessa died, he knew what parents felt like when they lost their child because that is how he felt. But he still had the others and Elizabeth, who was the sparkle in everyone’s eyes.

“Hello, Isabel and Michael,” he said as he came back to the present situation

Isabel: “Charles, how are you?”

Charles: “Good, please come in.”

As the three of them entered the office, Isabel silently prayed to herself that nothing was wrong.

“How is Max?” asked Charles as they walked into the office.

Isabel: “Good! Well, as good as expected, I guess. He is busy with Liz and adjusting to his new surroundings.”

Michael: “Liz keeps him busy and she is so adorable!! You have to see this new thing she does.”

Isabel: “She is so cute!! And the way she always smiles and never cries. She has to be the best baby in the world.”

Charles: “ Spoken like two godparents that are absolutely in love with their godchild.”

Isabel and Michael: “It’s hard not to fall in love with her, she is part of Tess.”

Michael: “Nice view.” As he looked out the window

Charles: “The perks of being the owner of the law firm. They say the water is calming.”

Both Michael and Isabel looked outside to the lake that had occupied the view. The water glisten as the sun shined down.

Charles: “Anyway, let’s get to business,” as he walked toward his desk.

Isabel: “What is going, Charles?” Isabel asked as she and Michael made their way to chairs that faced his desk

Michael: “I thought everything was taken care off.”

Charles: “Well, everything that dealt with estate and inheritance, yes but just one small thing.”

Isabel: “What?”

Charles: “Well, Tessa knew she might not make it after the pregnancy and she left me strict instructions on what to do with the stuff she gave me if something happened.”

Michael: “What stuff?”

Charles got up and walked to over to the closest and pulled out a fairly large medium sized box out.

Isabel: “What is this?” Looking at the box that was placed in front of her.

Charles: “Tapes.”

Michael: “Tapes?”

Isabel: “Of what?” Isabel asked as she and Michael both shared a look with each other.

Charles: “Tapes of Tessa.”

Isabel and Michael: “What?”

Charles: “Tessa made these tapes when Max went away for his annual meeting with the board members”

Isabel: “Max doesn’t know about this, does he?”

Charles: “No, he doesn’t”

Michael: “Who are the tapes for?”

Before the question could be answered, the intercom in the office buzzed and it was his secretary.

Charles: “Yes, Celeste?”

Celeste: “I am sorry to disturb you, Mr. Advan but you said when George Ford called, you wanted him patched through.”

Charles: “It’s ok, Celeste!! Set him up in the conference room, I will take the call there.”

Celeste: “Will do.”

As Charles got up, he looked at Isabel and Michael. “Look I am sorry about this but I have to take this call. But I know you have lots of questions to ask.”

Michael: “Yeah, we do but we will wait!!”

Charles: “Give me 10 minutes and while you are waiting, read this and it will answer your questions.” He handed the white envelope to Isabel

As Charles went thru the door that adjoined the conference room and his office, both Michael and Isabel opened up the letter.

Just as Isabel began to read the letter, Michael’s cell rang, “Damn it.”

Michael: “Hello? Hi, how are you? Did you get the proposal? Listen, can you hold for a second?”

Michael looked at Isabel, “I’m sorry I have to take this, me and Max have been waiting for him to call us back, I will be right back. Read it without me.”

As Michael went to the corner of the office to take the call, Isabel sat back in her chair and began reading the letter. It was addressed to her and Michael from Tessa.

When Michael turned around after finishing his call, he looked over at Isabel and noticed she had tears.

As he walked towards, he stood beside her and asked, “Isa, what’s wrong?”

Isabel looked up at Michael with tears streaming down her face, “I can’t believe she did this.”

Michael: “What did Tess do?”

Isabel: “She made these .… She wants us to … here, read this!!! I am going to pour some water on my face”.

As Isabel left, Michael wondered what Isabel was trying to say, so he opened the letter and read the contents of it

Dear: Isabel and Michael

Hey guys!!!

I know I said that part 5 would be coming very soon but I have been busy with a business project for school that it is taking a lot of my time!!! I dislike school right now, because just when you are done midterms, professors love throw at you an assignment that is worth 40%.

And also I am getting a major cold, my eyes hurt, my voice and throat are sore .

Good news is that the writing is going well but hopefully I can post at least two parts by the end of this week!!! I sent Part 7 to my beta reader so hopefully I will post three parts!!!

I promise to post as soon as I get rid of this cold . But until then I thought I leave with a teaser from part five to hold everyone until I post the whole part!! Would love some feedback meanwhile!!!!

Part Five Teaser

Charles: ”You read the letter?”

Michael: “Yeah, I miss her a lot, you know.”

Isabel: “Same here but now we have a new responsibility, to make sure that Liz gets to know her mother the way we did.”

Michael: “You keep them, Isabel and on her birthday, we will give it to her together.”

Charles: “What are you going to tell Max?”

Isabel: “That a mother wanted her child to know her thru her eyes.”

Michael: “We should be going. Thanks Charles for being there for her and carrying out her wishes. We are pretty lucky to have you.”

Charles: “You know, I never had children, she was like a daughter to me, all of you are like my children.”

Isabel: “Thanks Charles. Now, don’t be a stranger.” (Hugging him)

Charles: “Take care of each other.” He said as he and Isabel headed toward to the elevator with Michael behind them holding the box that the tapes had occupied. As the elevator came to the floor, both Isabel and Michael got on and looked to Charles and smiled before the doors closed.

As Isabel removed the tapes from the box and into the compartment, she looked at the tapes; each of them had been marked by Liz’s birthday, Liz’s 7th birthday, her 8th birthday and so on. As she took the next three tapes out of the box, one had been marked, To Maxwell, the other had been marked, To the Group. While the last tape, she did a double take to make sure she read the tape correctly …

Previously On Part 4...

Part 5

As Isabel left, Michael wondered what Isabel was trying to say, so he opened the letter and began reading …

Dear: Isabel and Michael

I am writing this letter because I want my
daughter to know who I am after I am gone. As I
sit here in the nursery and write this letter, it is the
hardest thing I’ve had to do because I may not see
her in here ever. I am not going to see her wrapped
in her blanket that Grandma Anna made for her or
come in all the times when she starts crying. You
have no idea how difficult this is, to plan things for
my little girl while knowing you may not share the

In the box there are 10 videotapes, each marking
Liz’s birthday starting from the day she turns one.
There are in total 13 tapes, 10 are for Liz’s birthday,
and the other three are for Max, Liz and all of you
guys. The three tapes should be kept with you guys
until Liz comes and ask them from you. Max doesn’t
have a clue about these tapes because I didn’t want
him to know at the time that losing me was possible.
I want you both to give her the tape on her birthday
and let her know it is her mother’s gift to her.

Isabel, I know it is hard for you to imagine how I
could keep all of this from Max, the tapes, and the
risks of the pregnancy. I knew that if something did
happen to me that all of you would band together to
take care of Liz and Max. I want my Liz to know
what kind of things her mom liked, her dislikes, how
her parents met and the simple fact that I love her.
I may not be there in person to tuck her in or wipe
her tears away when she falls but I can leave my
voice and image, letting her know that her mother
adored her from the beginning.
Hearing all these things from you guys is not the
same as it is hearing it from her mother, but at least
she can have some idea.
Whenever she misses me she can put these tapes in
and see her mother. Please Isabel, take care of both
of them.

Michael, you are his best friend and he always
told me that he thinks of as a brother. So, please
don’t let your brother close off his feelings or life.
Michael, you know he has a lot of love to give and he
should. I want him to be happy and though he may
think he is betraying me, please tell him to move on
when the time comes.

I love you both a lot, and thank you for accepting
me into the family with open arms. You are the best
friends a girl could have. Be happy all of you, tell
Alex, Maria and Kyle that I will miss them more than
words can express and tell Raze that his aunt Tess
will always love him. I will be always be in
your hearts and I will be watching you from up above.

One for All, All for one

Tess Evans

As he finished reading the letter, he didn’t hear Isabel walking back into the office and sitting beside him.

Isabel: “Michael?”

He turned towards her and she saw that the tears that had occupied her face were now threatening on his face.

Michael (wiping his tears away): “She planned everything … Do you realize the strength that she had to do this? She was a strong woman, wasn’t she?

Isabel: “Yeah, she was.”

Michael: “How do we keep this from Maxwell?”

Isabel: “We don’t, we’ll tell him right way.”

The door that adjoined the conference room and the office opened and in walked Charles. He looked at both their faces and knew they had read the letter. Their face wore the same expression as he had when he first read the letter addressed to him.

Charles: “I am sorry about that.”

Isabel: “It’s ok, Charles”

Charles: ”You read the letter?”

Michael: “Yeah, I miss her a lot, you know.”

Isabel: “Same here but now we have a new responsibility, to make sure that Liz gets to know her mother the way we did.”

Michael: “You keep them, Isabel and on her birthday, we will give it to her together.”

Charles: “What are you going to tell Max?”

Isabel: “That a mother wanted her child to know her through her eyes.”

Charles: “Take care of each other.” He said as he and Isabel headed towards the elevator with Michael behind them holding the box that the tapes occupied. As the elevator came to the floor, both Isabel and Michael got on and looked to Charles and smiled before the doors closed.

Later that night, when Isabel got home from work, she realized that she was home alone. She looked on her watch, 8:30pm, “Alex said he was working late, maybe I will take a long bath,” she said to herself. As she headed toward her room, she noticed that she forgot about the box containing the tapes. Taking the box, she headed up the stairs toward her room. She looked around her room trying to find a place for the box but she had no idea where to put them until she realized that her closest had a secret compartment built in. “Perfect.”

As she removed the tapes from the box and into the compartment, she looked at the tapes; each of them had been marked by Liz’s birthday, Liz’s 7th birthday, her 8th birthday and so on. As she took the next three tapes out of the box, one had been marked, To Maxwell, the other had been marked, To the Group. While the last tape, she did a double take to make sure she read the tape correctly … To Liz Parker.

Would love some feedback!! What do you think of the part?

Part 6

“Who is Liz Parker?” Isabel wondered to herself. In all the years she had known Tess, never once did the name Liz Parker ever arise.

As being the typical Isabel, her mind began to roll hypothesis of who she could be, and then she realized that she remembered the look that Michael and Max had shared when he introduced his daughter as Elizabeth Anna Evans. It had surprised everyone but to those two, it didn’t at all.

“Who are you, Liz Parker?” Isabel asked herself as she kept playing with the last videotape.

As she put away the last tape and closed the closest door, her mind was still on Liz Parker. She wanted to know who she was but she couldn’t ask Max, because it would be inappropriate but she wanted to know now. So the next logical person is Michael. “Please there’s no way he is going to tell you anything about Max,” but with reinforcements he could be persuaded to tell her.

So she decided to call the one person that could help her in this and get Michael talking.

Ring … Ring … Ring … Ring

“Come on, be there,” Isabel mumbled to herself

“Oh my gosh, I am so sorry about that Isabel,” answered the person

Isabel: “Ria, How did you know it was me?”

Maria: “Caller Id, Isabel.”

Isabel: “Oh!! What took you so long? How is Raze? Is Michael around? Can you talk?”

Maria: “Isa, breath!! Exhale and Inhale!!!

Isabel: “Sorry.”

Maria: “To answer your questions, I was putting Raze to sleep, he is fine, no he isn’t and yes I can talk!!”

Isabel: “Good, because we need to.”

Maria: “I am so here to listen, chica.”

Isabel: “Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure,” answered Maria

Isabel: “Did Michael ever mention a girl named Liz Parker to you at anytime?”

Maria: “Liz Parker, I don’t believe so. Who is she?”

Isabel: “That’s what I want to know.”

Maria: “What is going on?”

Isabel: “You know that we went to Charles’s office today because he wanted to talk to us.”

Maria: “Yes, Michael told me last night. What did he say?”

Isabel: “He gave us videotapes of Tess that she made for Liz for the next ten birthdays and … plus she made videotapes for us too.”

Mafia: “What? Does Max know? Did you see the tape that she made for us? What did she say?”

Isabel: “Ok, now who has to exhale and inhale?

Maria: “Sorry, you got me excited about Tess leaving us a tape.”

Isabel: “Max doesn’t know but me and Michael are going to tell him soon. I haven’t seen the tape yet because I have to wait until Liz asks for them.”

Maria: “I can’t believe she did that. She knew that she might not make it. Didn’t she?”

Isabel: “Yeah, she planned everything in case…. She made a tape for Max, for the group and for Liz Parker.”

Maria: “Liz Parker, interesting. Let me guess, it is killing you that you have no clue who she is, isn’t it?”

Isabel: “You know me too well and that is why I need you. Between the two of us we can gang up on Michael and make him tell us.”

Maria: “It’s not going to work, Isabel!! You know that Michael doesn’t share things between him and Max with me or anybody else.”

Isabel: “Well… he has to this time. I want to know!! Did you not find it strange that Tess wanted to name the baby Elizabeth?”

Maria: “Yeah, I was curious but I decided not to question it.”

Isabel: “Well start to question it!!!”

Maria: “So Sherlock, how do we get my husband who is a stonewall when it comes to sharing secrets about Max, to admit who Liz Parker is?

Isabel: “I don’t know but I know how Michael is also. So if that’s doesn’t work, we need plan B.”

Maria: “Which is?”

Isabel: “Hold on, Watson. I am thinking here okay!!”

Maria: “Wait a minute, aren’t you and Alex helping Max clean out his attic tomorrow?’

Isabel: “Yeah … Oh my gosh, you are a genius, Ria.”

Maria: “Well, I try my best you know.”

Isabel: “Oh, please!!

Maria: “So the attic is where the answer is.”

Isabel: “I have an instinct that if Michael doesn’t tell us, then the attic is where we could find the answer.

Maria: “You could be right because between Max and Tess, they kept everything.”

Isabel: “Just remember, this is between us. We shouldn’t tell the guys anything, well definitely not Max or Michael.”

Maria: “It will be between us!!!”

Isabel: “It makes you wonder, though.”

Maria: “About Liz Parker?”

Isabel: “Yeah, the fact that between Max, Michael and Tess, we have never heard about Liz Parker. There is a story there, Ria. I am sure of it.”

Maria: “And it is up to us to find out who Liz’s name sake is?”

Feedback please...

Big Thanks to my beta-reader Angelique, because without her these words would not make sense!!! (Trust me)

Previously on Part Six …

Isabel: “It makes you wonder, though.”

Maria: “About Liz Parker?”

Isabel: “Yeah, the fact that between Max, Michael and Tess, we have never heard about Liz Parker. There is a story there, Ria. I am sure of it.”

Maria: “And it is up to us to find out who Liz’s name sake is?”

Part Seven

“Tess …”

“Tess, is that you”

“Yes it is”

He turned around and was surrounded by a illuminating white light and the middle was his wife dressed in soft white.

Tess: “Hi.”

Max: “God, I can’t believe it’s you.”

Max: “I miss you so much. How could leave me and Liz?” as he walked up to her

Tess: “I didn’t want to but I couldn’t control it.”

Max: “Yes, you could have, you could have told me …”

Tess: “Max…”

Max: “Where are we?”

Tess: “In between.”

“In between of what?” He asked as he looked around his surrounding that was covered in complete white yet it was serene and beautiful for such a simple place. No trees, people or object occupied the place just reminiscent of soft clouds.

Tess: “I have no clue but someone up there told me.” (As she pointed up)

Max: “Why didn’t you tell me? I would have done anything …”

Tess: “Max, there wasn’t anything anyone could do, it was a risk. I am glad I took it, she’s beautiful.”

Max: “Like mother like daughter. I have no idea how to tell you how I feel.”

Tess: “It’s ok Max, I know.”

Max: “How I can move on with my life without you in it? I have loved you for so long and now you are not there.”

Tess: “I am always in your heart and you will learn to live without me.”

Max: “I don’t think that is ever going to happen.”

Tess: “Max, please.”

Max: “If you are telling me that I am going to find someone else and forget about you, well forget it. No one else is going to compare to you.”

Tess: “What about Liz, then?”

Max: “Liz will be fine with me in her life and she has Isabel and Ria to help guide her.”

Tess: “Max, you shouldn’t close the door on happiness.”

Max: “No, Tess. You fall in love and marry once, and Liz will bring happiness in my life so I will be content. I don’t need and want anyone else.”

Tess: “If there was one thing that bugged me about you it was your stubbornness.”

Max: “And you were difficult.”

Tess: “Two peas in a pond, I guess. (Laughing) Imagine how Elizabeth will be with a mixture of both.”

Max: “She’s amazing Tess but how do I this by myself?”

Tess: “You can and will and plus you have Isabel, Maria, Michael, Alex and Kyle to help you and the rest of your family.”

Tess: “Remember Max, things happen for a reason, and in times where hurt and sorrow occur, happiness is not far behind.”

The white light surrounding her began to vanish as Max called out to her, “No, you can’t leave just yet… I have so much to say. Please.”

Tess: “I love you Max.” With that she disappeared leaving Max in tears.

He got up with such force that he fell down the bed. “It was a dream, again” he said to himself. But as he rubbed his face he noticed that he had tears rolling down his cheeks.

He got up from the floor and put the blankets that surrounded him up on the bed. As he straightened the bed he noticed the alarm was at 9:30am. “Today is Saturday, better go shower” he said to himself.

He went to his closest to pick his attire for the morning. Kyle, Alex and Michael would be by soon for their Saturday ritual. Saturday mornings would be when the guys got together and shot some ball at Max’s house. Isabel and Ria would call it male bonding. Both Maria and Isabel were also coming by to help reorganize his attic that so desperately needed organization and take care of Liz, while he hanged out. “Oh my gosh, Liz.” He yelled to himself as he totally forgot about his daughter. As he walked through the adjacent door that led to the nursery, he came to crib and panic went through his head when he found the crib empty. “Where is she?” He yelled to himself but soon he heard commotion from downstairs and he heard his daughter’s laughter.

He could hear voices that belonged to his sister and her best friend as Max made his way downstairs. As he walked to the kitchen and came to full view, what he saw made him smile. Alex was holding Liz while Isabel was feeding her, meanwhile Michael was seating at counter tool with Maria and Raze, who is making funny faces at Liz. None of them saw Max at the foot of the kitchen.

Michael: “I can’t believe the two of you dragged us at this hour to Max’s house. I mean the man hasn’t even been up and here we are eating breakfast in his kitchen.”

Maria: “Michael, it’s 10:00o’clock!!!”

Michael: “Ria, it’s Saturday!! People sleep in until noon unlike us here.”

Isabel: “ Well, we wanted to start early because we have a lot of work to do.”

Alex: “Then why are we here? We are not helping you clean the attic.”

“To keep us entertained,” Isabel answered as she smiled at Alex

Michael: “So you are telling me that I got up just to keep you two entertained.”

Maria: “Yes!!!”

Michael: “I can’t believe this …”

As Michael continued his protest, Raze looked at the corner of his eye and saw his Uncle Max standing at the doorway, laughing.

Raze: “Uncle… Max!!”

The three year old got off his stool and ran to Max, hugging his leg as he reached there.

Max: “Hey Partner!!” (Scooping him up)

Isabel: “Max, you are up, finally!!”

“You know Isa, you gave me heart attack when I found Liz missing from her crib,” Max said as he walked up to the counter and settling Raze on top of the counter.

Isabel: “When I went in to check on her, she was up and she was looking at me with her adorable eyes begging me to take her, so I had to bring her downstairs.”

“What are you guys doing here so early?” Max asked as he went to Alex to take Liz into his arms.

Michael: “Well, Sherlock and Watson here wanted to start early in the attic cleaning and we are here apparently to entertain them!!”

Maria: “Would you quit complaining, Geez?”

Alex: “Guys, can you cool it with your bickering, we are after all in front impressionable children here?” He pointed to Liz and Raze

Max: “It never changes between them, pre-school, grade school and high school, all they did was bicker!!!”

Michael: “Glad to have some silence in college.”

Maria: “You missed me during college, buster!”

Michael: “Please!!”

As Isabel watched the banter between her best friends, she decided it was time to seize the opportunity and ask away about college.

Isabel: “Did you guys date a lot in college?”

Michael: “Umm… not much.”

Max: “A little, but we just mainly hung out with our group.”

Alex: “Well, who was in this group?”

Michael: “People!!”

Alex: “People, thanks for clearing that for me Michael. And here I thought you hung out with aliens.”

Max: “It was just friends that we met our first year and we became close thru the remaining years.”

Isabel: “Do these people have names by any chance or were they nameless?”

Maria: “Oh, come on guys, you never talked about college when you guys got back all those years ago!!”

Alex: “Ria is right. Did you have fun at college, I mean the way you keep it hush-hush, it’s like you had a miserable time.”

Michael: “Look, we had a great time and there were ups and downs we experienced but it was normal.”

Max: “Yeah, guys. Nothing happen, we went, had friends, met Tess and graduated. End of story.”

“Gee, besides meeting Tess, your lives must have been boring,” a voice echoed thru the kitchen and stopped at the foot of the kitchen.

Michael: “Well, look what the cat dragged in?”

Part 8A

Michael: “Well, look what the cat dragged in?”

“Well, nice to see you too, Guerin,” the figure replied as they walked into the kitchen.

Max: “Hey.”

“Hey Max and how is our little princess this morning?” the figure asked as he kissed Liz’s forehead.

Isabel: “She is an angel.”

Alex: “Of course, she is.”

“So getting back to what you guys were talking before I entered …”

Alex: “We were bugging Michael and Max about college.”

“Right, so from what I could get of the conversation when I entered the house, we had more fun in college than you guys did, which makes me sad boys,” he said as he grabbed a cup from the cupboard to pour coffee into.

Michael: “Why?”

“Think about it Guerin. Both of you were overseas, nobody knows anything about you and you probably had girls begging to go out with you, well especially Max over here and you did nothing. NOTHING, I find that hard to believe.”

“It’s college, you are supposed to do wild and crazy things but you didn’t, while me and Alex were stuck with Sherlock and Watson hovering over us.”

Maria: “Just be glad that we did, ok”

Max: “Look guys, we had fun in college!!”

Michael: “Yeah!!!”

Maria: “Ok, Jeez, we get it. I don’t understand why you two are so defensive on this.”

Michael: “We are not defensive, Ria!!! We never bugged you guys about your college days!!”

Alex: “Because we told you everything.”

Isabel: “Exactly. So … there wasn’t anybody else beside Tess in college? Was there Max?

Max: “No, Isabel. After I saw her I knew what I wanted and went after it.”

“Oh, you are such a romeo.”

Max: “You be quite Mister. Why the sudden interest in my life?”

Isabel: “Hey, I just wanted to know what my brother and his best friend did in college overseas!!”

Maria: “Yeah, why is it so wrong for us to know?”

Max: “No, it’s not wrong for you guys to know … but guys there nothing there, ok!”

As Max spoke, Isabel noticed that Michael avoided looking at everyone and developed a quick fascination of the floor. She nudged Maria to make her notice what Michael was doing.

“There is something there, what is it, Michael,” Isabel silently said to herself

Alex: “So Valenti, how was your night?”

Kyle: “Like every other night, I went on a date and all she did was talk about her.”

Maria: “Another one of those, huh?”

Kyle: “Yup! And I am seriously beginning to think if there is any woman out there for me? Because I am not finding her and I am not getting any younger.”

Isabel: “Kyle, you are 27 years old, like some of us here.”

Kyle: “True but let’s compare my life to all of yours. Michael and Maria are married and have Raze. You and Alex are married and Max has Liz while I have NO ONE.”

Maria: “Maybe me and Isabel should set you up with some people from work.”

Michael: “Kyle, don’t agree to it. Have you seen the people that they work with?”

“What do I have to lose? You know, hanging out with you guys all these years, I realize I want what you guys have,” replied Kyle who whispered the last few phrases.

“Speak up Valenti, I didn’t hear you,” Michael shouted as he had smirk on his face!!!

Kyle: “I said that I want what you guys have, ok.”

Michael: “Oh, my gosh!! Record this day Maxwell because Valenti just did a 180 on us!!!”

Both Alex and Max began to laugh while Isabel slapped Michael’s right shoulder.

Maria: “So Kyle, you ready to settle down?”

Kyle: “Not right way but I just want meet someone that is real and where I don’t have to pretend to be someone else, you know.”

Isabel came over and stood next to Kyle: “Kyle, somewhere out there a Mrs. Kyle Valenti exists,”

Maria: “You will find her, maybe at the most unexpected time!”

Michael: “Oh please!! Can we not go thru the theory on fate again?”

Maria: “Don’t listen to Michael!! He isn’t the fate believer!!”

Max: “Listen Kyle, we were all destined to be with someone, you just have to find them!! I mean, Alex and Isabel found each other, me and Tess and, believe it or not, Michael and Maria!!”

Isabel: “Yeah, there is a person out there for you because someone up there wrote it a long time ago but now, it is up to you and your special someone to find each other.”

Kyle: “Ok, how will I know?”

Max: “Trust me you will know! It’s something you feel in your heart and it is the most amazing feeling. It’s hard to describe it.”

Isabel: “Yeah, you never know, sometimes you could have two people destined for you.”

Max: “Isabel, you don’t have two soul mates, just one!!”

Isabel: “Max …”

Michael: “Ok, let’s just stop there because honestly, I don’t want to spend my morning listening to how fate plays a role in our lives.”

Michael: “So let’s get a move on, you girls go do your stuff and we will shoot some hoops.”

Isabel: “But before you leave boys, we need help moving some stuff in the attic.”

“Well, I am going to bond with my son and goddaughter here,” Michael replied as he took Liz from Max and held his hand out for his son.

Alex: “Take the easy way Guerin, why don’t you?”

“Hey, I am here to entertain as I was told,” Michael shouted back as he headed to the living room.

Max: “And I am going to take a shower before we head out.”

Both Isabel and Maria dragged Kyle and Alex upstairs to the attic, while Max went upstairs to his room.

As Isabel and Maria got to the attic and opened the door, all of them stopped mid-stride and were horrified at what they found.

Kyle: “Oh My Gosh …”

Part 8B

Kyle: “Oh My Gosh … where did Max and Tess find all this stuff?”

All of them were baffled at the sight before them; rows and rows of boxes were occupying the fairly large room at the top of the 4-storey house. The attic was fairly big yet there were so many boxes labelled that it made the room smaller.

Maria: “You know, they didn’t like to throw anything out!!”

“I wonder what in the world they have in these boxes,” Isabel said as she tried to figure out how to get this task done.

Alex: “Oh My Gosh, here are pictures of us at your wedding, Ria.” He said as he opened one of the boxes that were lying on the floor.

Maria: “Oh My Gosh, look at us. Smiling, not showing any signs of the near disaster we went through that morning.”

Kyle: “Gosh, remember everything was set up and then out of nowhere, rain paralysed everything.”

Isabel: “All the chairs and flowers were soaked and you were screaming that it was a fate showing you a sign that you and Michael weren’t supposed to be together.”

Alex: “And then out of nowhere, you said, no matter how it had to happen that you were going to be Mrs. Maria Deluca Guerin.”

Maria: “We decided to get married in the rain, right there and then.”

Kyle: “We had a ball dancing in the rain, the whole day actually befitted to the way your relationship with Michael was, leading up to the wedding”

Alex: “We danced and laughed the whole night except when we woke up in the morning, we had colds that lasted for almost a week.”

Maria: “Wow, three years ago, it seems a like a lifetime.”

Isabel: “Yeah, it does and remember what Tess said; things with us never go according to plan, life always throws a crinkle at us but somehow we manage to work around it and have the time of ourselves.”

All four of them just stood a moment as Isabel finished her comment and stayed silent until Kyle spoke, “I miss her.”

Alex: “So do I.”

Isabel: “Ok guys, let’s move these boxes before we have another crying session here.”

Alex: “Sure, sorry just caught in the moment.”

“Caught in the moment of what?”

Maria turned around to see Max standing in the doorway of the attic, with his hands in the pocket of his shorts.

Maria: “Um, just memories.”

“Man, Evans, what in the world do you have in these boxes?” Kyle said as he and Alex struggled to move one of the boxes.

Max: “Tess kept everything, every picture, present, cards and odds and ends.”

Isabel: “This is so not going to be fun. I have no clue where to put all this.”

Max: “I was thinking we could donate her clothes to the local charity and other items of use, while pictures can be put into albums and put in the living room. The other stuff I guess stays here but in corners.”

Isabel: “Great idea, my dear brother.”

Max: “I am sorry Isabel, for asking you to do this but if I did this, I would never get it done. I would get lost in here with the memories.”

Maria: “Its ok Max, me and Isabel can handle this.”

As Max was about to speak he was interrupted of the doorbell.

Alex: “Were you expecting someone?”

Max: “No, Michael can handle it. Meanwhile, I was about to say there are extra boxes in the hallway closest so you can replace some of the old ones.”

Downstairs in the living room, Michael was occupying his time with son playing peek boo with Liz. Both kids seemed to enjoy Michael’s silliness as he hid behind the couch and kept creeping around to the front to scare them. As he headed back to the back of the couch again, the doorbell rang.

“I wonder who that is?” He said to himself as he got up on his feet and looked toward the doorway.

Michael: “Ok kids, I am going to answer the door, Raze watch Liz please.”

The little boy nodded at his father and got up from where he was sitting and sat beside where Liz was lying on her blanket.

Raze: “Like a … hwke, daddy”

Michael: “That’s my man, and it’s hawk, little man.” He said this with a smile as he walked to the front door to see who was on the other side.

Part 8C

As he opened the front door, a young man dressed in a Federal Express Uniform, early 20’s with bright blue eyes and fair complexion stood carrying a medium sized box and a smile.

Boy: “Good morning sir, looking for a … Maxwell Evans.”

Michael: “Good morning … Max is a little occupied.”

Boy: “Oh, well I have a delivery for him.”

Michael: “Well, I can sign for it and I will make sure he gets it.”

Boy: “Ok, please sign here.” He gave him his clipboard and showed Michael where to sign for the delivery.

Michael: “Here you go.” Michael gave him his clipboard back; in return he got the box.

Boy: “Thanks sir, have a good day.”

Michael: “Wait … I forgot to give you a tip.”

Boy: “Oh, no need sir. It was taken care off by the owner who wanted this delivered, and might I say very generous the owner was.”

Michael: “Oh, good day to you then.”

Michael closed the door and headed into the living room with the box in his hand. As he walked into the room he laughed at the sight before him. Raze lying on his stomach with his hands resting on his cheeks staring at Liz so intently while the little girl kept playing with her rattle.

As Michael put the box on the side table in the living room, Raze still hadn’t move an inch to notice that his father was back. “Little man, you take your job very seriously, don’t you.” Michael whispered as he bent down to Raze and Liz.

Raze: “You told me too!!

Raze: “Daddddy …”

Michael: “Yes, little man.”

Raze: “Lizzy preeetty, daddy.”

Michael: “Oh, really. Did you hear that Liz?”

“Did she hear what,” Max said as he entered the living room.

“Oh, you ready?” Michael asked as he got up and went to Max.

Max: “Yup, but Alex and Kyle will be a few more minutes.”

Michael: “Man, those girls are really making them work, aren’t they?”

Max: “So what did I miss?”

Michael: “Oh, I think my son has a little crush on your daughter.”

Max: “Really, interesting.

Michael: “Imagine if they get married?”

Max: “Ok hold off right there, Liz is not dating until she is like 30 or even 40.”

Michael laughs: “Right Max, we will see how that holds up.”

Max: “I am serious Michael and you just watch.”

Michael: “Oh, I will be there to tell you, I TOLD YOU SO.”

Max: “Whatever. Who was at the door?”

Michael: “You had a delivery. It is on the table there.”

“From who?” Max asked he walked to the table with Michael behind him.

Michael: “I have no idea but they tipped the delivery boy really well.”

Max: “Oh?”

Max opened the box with relative ease; he came across white roses tied in a bunch with a red ribbon while a small card dangled from the ribbon.

Michael: “Nice flowers but who is sending you flowers now?”

As Michael was speaking Max had opened the card and was reading the words that graced the page.

Michael: “Max? Max, who is it from?”

Michael kept looking at the flowers yet still received no response from Max. But when he looked at Max he saw his face was full of surprise.

Michael: “MAXWELL, Who are the flowers from?”

Max: “Serena …”

Chrissy --> Don't worry Liz will come into the picture!! That part is coming soon, well not too soon!!

Ok, here is Part 9A, and I don't enjoy leaving all of you hanging, it's just how the parts end!! Sorry!!

From Up Above

If you want see the disclaimer, check part one!!

Big Thanks to my beta-reader Angelique, because without her these words would not make sense!!!

Part 9A

Michael: “So, Max who are the flowers from?

Max: “There are from … Serena.”

“WHAT?” Michael exclaimed as he fumbled with the flowers making sure they didn’t drop on the Persian carpet.

Max: “Yeah…”

Michael: “Ok, repeat that again for me.”

Max: “There are from Serena, Michael.”

Michael: “Serena as in S E R E N A from college?”

Max: “Michael, how many Serenas do you know?

Michael: “Oh My Gosh, I think I need to sit down.”

Max: “Here, read the card.”

Max handed the card to Michael while he took the flowers and put it on top of the coffee table as he also sat down.

Meanwhile, Michael opened the card and began reading the words …

Dear: Max

Max, I am so sorry about Tess, my condolences are
with you. When I heard of her death, I was stunned
and couldn’t believe it. I wanted to come to the
funeral and I was but my mom called and said
that my dad was in the hospital. I have been at home
for the last six months and I just got back now.

Tell Michael, I said hello and wanted to say congrats
on his wedding and a son. I can’t believe he is father but he must be very devoted, Maria is lucky.

Speaking of children, congrats on your daughter!!
I am also expecting, in two months actually!!
My husband and Lizzy keep telling me that I don’t look huge but you should see me. I wish I saw Tess before she died because I will miss her a lot
As I am sure all of you will to.

I miss you guys so much and … just take care of yourselves
And my prayers are with you

From An Old Friend
Serena Parker Adams

Michael: “I can’t believe this.”

Max: “You are telling me, the last time I saw Serena was when we graduated.”

Michael: “Remember, she came back just for that.”

Max: “I wonder how she heard about Tess.”

Michael: “I have no clue, we lost in touch with them after graduation.”

Max: “I wonder where they are and what they are doing?”

Michael: “Who?”

Max: “Serena and … Lizzy.”

Michael turned his head around and stared at Max as he heard the name that hadn’t been uttered in almost 4 years.

Michael (slightly laughing): “You would always call her that and she hated it yet she never corrected you in the four years of school.”

“We were best friends, she knew I did that to bug her.” Max said as he got up and put the flowers on top of the fireplace.

Michael whispered to himself, “Yeah, You were and there wasn’t a thing she wouldn’t do for you.”

Big Thanks to my beta-reader Angelique!!!

Dedicated to Jayne, who I promised when she updated BACK 2 YOU, I would update mine ... here you go, sorry for the lateness but enjoy, hopefully

Part 9B

“Yeah, you were and there wasn’t a thing she wouldn’t do for you.” Michael whispered to himself.

Max: “What did you say?’

Michael: “Nothing, I was just remembering something.”

“I miss them both, I mean I didn’t see much of Lizzy in those last few months after the accident.” Max said as he stood beside the fireplace facing Michael.

Michael: “I know. You kept asking me what was going on?”

Max: “Yeah, I remember and I also remember you never gave me a straight answer.”

Michael felt Max’s eyes stare into him as he avoided looking into those intense dark brown eyes. If he did Max would know that what he was about to say was a complete lie.

Michael: “Max, NOTHING was going on, ok? I mean, you just got engaged to Tess and then in a split second you had an accident. She didn’t want to burden you with things.”

Max: “Why is it that I didn’t believe you then and I still don’t now?”

Michael: “Max you are being paranoid, now. Please, if not for my sake and then Liz’s let it go.”

Max: “I didn’t and I still don’t understand why she completely avoided me, I mean we never were the same. We were best friends Michael, you just don’t stop being friends!!”

Michael: “You had a lot on your plate, being engaged, recovering from the accident and trying to finish school, so you could graduate on time. She didn’t want to add to that.”

Max: “Oh, but she felt that she could burden you instead of me, then?”

As Michael was about to speak, he looked at Max and stopped, as the eyes that he stared into resembled the same eyes that he looked at 5 years ago on a girl whose life had been changed by a single emotion, LOVE. Hurt, vulnerability and confusion were what the eyes spoke to Michael, “Damn, you two are alike in more ways than one.”

“Max, I could never replace you in her life.” Michael spoke after finally finding the right words.

“And no one could replace her in my life.” Spoken in a whisper, Max walked to the window and stared out.

Meanwhile, Michael stood there speechless, making sure that what he had heard was true as his mind drifted into the past. “Michael, no one could replace him in my heart. He will always be there, you only fall in love once but in my case it was wrong timing. I guess this is fate’s way of saying, it is not happening.” As Michael came back to the present and stared at his best friend, he realized that fate hadn’t been good to both Max and Liz.

Max turned around and looked at Michael and asked the question that he wanted to know for so long. “What was going on, Michael?”

Michael: “Max, I told you, nothing.”

Max: “I don’t believe you. Now, I am asking you not only as a friend but as a brother, what was going on?”

Michael: “No Max, don’t put me in that position, please.”

Max: “WHY NOT?”

“Because …” Michael answered as he became more defensive each time Max asked.

Max: “Because why?”

Meanwhile in the attic …

Isabel: “Ok Alex, put that box in that corner and the one labelled Max’s Stuff in this corner.

Alex: “Your wish is my command, my Queen.”

Isabel: “Very funny Alex.”

Alex: “Hey, I try you know, and you love me for it.”

Isabel: “I do?”

Alex: “Very cute honey.” He said as he came beside her and gave a peck on the cheek.

“Well, it took her two years to finally tell you that,” Maria shouted from the corner of the attic where she and Kyle were buried.

“Ria, did I ask for your opinion?” Alex shouted back to her.

Maria: “No, but who came and cried to me about how a certain blond will never ever feel the same way about you as you do for her?”

Isabel: “Alex, you really felt that?”

Kyle: “Hell, YES.”

Alex: “Hey, so I was a little insecure about what Isabel felt for me but now I am not. By the way, where are you guys because I can’t see you but I can hear you?”

At an instant two hands popped up on each side of the boxes and waved to him.

Isabel: “I always loved you Alex.”

“AWWW, How Sweet.” Both Maria and Kyle shouted back.

“This is great, here we are stuck with these boxes and you two are having a moment. Can you do that at another time?” Kyle shouted back.

Alex: “Ok seriously, we need to find a date for Kyle.”

Isabel: “One that doesn’t talk about herself.”

Back into the living room …

Tension in the living room was filled so high that you could cut it with a knife. Both Max and Michael stood and stared at each other as Max played in his head over and over again what Michael had just told him. Meanwhile, Raze held Liz’s hand as he kept looking at his dad, his uncle and Liz to make sure she was ok.

He had never heard his dad raise his voice except a few minutes ago. Though he pretended to be strong for Liz as she became silent, he was afraid.

Michael was the first one to look away and saw that the two children were looking at them. While one was silent the other had confusion and fear in his eyes. He forgot that Raze had never seen him yell. “It must have frighten him.” Michael thought. He walked over, bent down and smiled at his son to reassure him that nothing was wrong.

As he saw his dad smile at him, he knew not to be frightened anymore. Raze looked at Liz and smiled at her and she began to giggle.

Michael: “I’m sorry, little man.”

“Ok, Daddy.” Raze said as he got up and gave him a hug.

Michael: “Love you.”

Raze: “Me too!!!”

As Michael set Raze back onto the floor, he looked over and saw Max who was still standing there and decided to end the silence between them.

“You always told me that the one thing that you respected about me was that I never break my promises, please don’t ask me now.” Michael said as he walked back to the sofa and sat down.

Max looked at him and spoke, “I am sorry Michael for pushing to know what happened but it hurts not knowing.”

Michael: “I know Max, I argued with her to tell you but, like you, she is stubborn as mule and made me promise her.”

Max: “Well, I am glad that she had you to confide in.”

Michael: “She became like a sister to me in those few months. The weird thing was that at times, she reminded me of you.”

Max: “Two peas in a pod I guess. I don’t know why I wanted to know so badly but I guess the letter from Serena and losing Tess just got to me.”

Michael: “It’s ok.”

Max: “I am sorry to put you in that position and you shouldn’t break her promise.”

Michael: “I asked her to tell you countless times but she never listened.”

Max: “Did anyone else … know what was going on?”

“Oh no, how do I answer this?” Michael asked himself as he looked at Max who went to pick up Liz from the floor.

Max: “Michael?”

Max called for Michael again, but he wasn’t listening as thoughts and ideas went through his head on how to answer the question he never wanted to answer. “Lie Michael, just lie …”

Max: “Michael…”

“What?” Michael spoke as he came out of his trance.

Max: “Did anyone else know?”

Michael: “Umm …”

So what do you think, should I continue or give up??

Feedback most welcomed

Part 9C

Max: “Did anyone else know?”

“Umm … no” Michael answered him.

Max: “Oh, I guess she could only trust you, huh?”

Michael: “Yeah, I guess so.”

Max went back to playing with Liz, who seemed satisfied with the answer that Michael gave him. Meanwhile inside Michael’s head, sigh of relief was felt, as he promised himself that he could never reveal to Max on who the second person was. “Don’t ever tell him that the other person was … “ His thoughts were interrupted by Max’s voice.

“I had … the dream again.” Max said as he put Liz down on the blanket and sat down beside Michael.

Michael: “Oh, … the one with you and Tess.”

Max: “Yep, she keeps telling me to move on.”

Michael: “Well, she is right.”

“How … Michael, do I move on? I mean, on the outside I appear fine but in the inside I am so lost.” Max said he ran his fingers through his hair.

Michael: “Look, I can’t tell you how I understand what you feel because I have no clue what its like to lose your other half because mine right now is upstairs reorganizing your attic. But … it’s not going to be easy. I mean you loved her since your first year of college. You were together for eight years. All I can say is that I am here for you and I won’t let you lose yourself in your grief. And you have Liz and she needs you now, not Tess. Max, it’s ok to miss her, cry for her or get angry with her but don’t shut emotions out because you still need to live for her. She needs you to be the Dad and the Mom and you are the only parent she has now.”

Max: “I honestly don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have her.”

Michael: “Look, why don’t you, take Liz and go somewhere and bond and do what you need to do so you won’t be so lost anymore.”

Max: “Seems like a good idea. You know I am lucky to have you as a friend.”

Michael: “I have been telling you that since I met you, Evans.”

Max: “Wow, being married to Maria really did wonders on your philosophy of life.”

Michael: “Yeah it did, just don’t let her know that or she will start harping on me.”

Max: “Are we okay Michael?”

Michael: “Yeah, we are. Now, how about we rescue the two boys and shoot some hoops?”

Both of them got up from the sofa with a child in their arms and headed toward the attic. While the letter that was on top of the coffee table flew to the ground as a draft of wind from the window blew.

In the attic …

“Kyle, what kind of girl are you looking for?” Maria asked as she emerged from the pile of boxes and stood up on her feet.

“I will tell you what kind of girl Valenti needs.” Michael replied as both him and Max entered the attic with Raze and Liz in their arms.

“Ok Guerin, please enlighten me.” Kyle asked Michael

Michael: “You need a girl that doesn’t laugh at your Buddha and your meditation.”

Kyle: “Funny, Guerin.”

Michael: “So girls, are the boys almost done?”

Isabel: “Yup, we can take care of the rest.”

Max: “Wow, I am impressed. The attic doesn’t look so claustrophobic. Thanks Isabel”

Alex: “Well you know Isabel, when she puts her mind into something, she puts her whole energy into it.”

Kyle: “Enough with the compliments or her head is going to get bigger than it is already.”

“Ouch.” Kyle screamed a second later as Isabel elbowed him on his right side.

Isabel: “That will teach you.”

“Ok boys, we are leaving. See you later little man.” Michael said as he placed Raze on his feet and gave him a kiss on his forehead.

“Come here sweetheart. Mommy needs her strong little man to help her.” Maria said as Raze came beside her and hugged her knees

Max: “Here Isabel, take Liz. She should be hungry soon and her diaper needs to be changed too. If she cries here is her rattle and if something should happen I am taking my cell phone and …

Isabel: “Max!?! You’re only going to be gone for a few hours. I think we can manage.”

Max: “Right.”

“We are going to have fun, aren’t we munchkin?” Isabel exclaimed as she twirled the little girl in the air.

Maria: “Have fun boys!!”

As soon as the boys left, Isabel came beside Maria and looked at her with a mischievous grin.

Isabel: “So find the box?”

Maria: “My Gosh Isabel, do you have that little faith in me? Of course I found the box!!”

Isabel: “Sorry, where is it?”

Maria: “In the corner”

Isabel: “Good work, Watson.”

Maria: “Well, you can always depend on me, Sherlock. Come on, Raze, let’s go find out who Liz Parker is, Huh?”

TBC ....

I know it's very short but I couldn't help it and if it's suck again, I am sorry but this part just needed to be there!!
So be truthfully, if it sucks, I can handle it!! I am not happy with the part either but then again you decide ....

Big Thanks to my beta-reader Angelique!!!

Part 10

When Isabel and Maria got downstairs, they headed straight to the kitchen with the children and the box. Isabel placed Liz on her high chair and proceeded to get cups from the cupboard while Maria settled in Raze at the counter stool beside Liz’s high chair. As both kids began to entertain each other, Isabel sat directly across from Maria and placed the cup directly on her right.

Isabel: “Ok, we got the coffee, kids are secure and now, let’s see what’s in this box. Where did you find the box?” Isabel questioned Maria as she opened the flaps of the box.

Maria: “It was between Max and her stuff in one corner, sitting there by itself. I decided to push it to the side and investigate it later.”

As flaps of the box were all opened, they came across pictures of Max and Michael and others that they didn’t recognize. As they looked at each picture, one by one, one suddenly caught their attention; it had Michael, Max, Tess and two other girls.

Isabel: “Do you think one of them is Liz?”

Maria: “I have no clue, but they look alike.”

“Oh, here is another picture at graduation. Look, how cute Max and Tess look.” Isabel said as she pointed the picture out to Maria, who seemed to have a peculiar face.

Maria: “Wait a minute.”

Isabel: “What?”

Maria: “Notice how not all of them are in this picture?”

Isabel: “Let me see that again? You’re right, there is Max, Michael, Tess, one of the girls and that’s it.”

Maria: “So, where is the other one?”

Isabel: “Mmmm?”

Maria: “Maybe she didn’t graduate with them?”

Isabel: “Maybe?”

As they put the pictures down, they came across yearbooks and other artifacts that belong to Max and Tess. Isabel flipped through the pages of the yearbook hoping to identify, which one was Liz Parker. As she skimmed through the pages she landed on the individual pics of the student body at the school. She gasped slightly as she landed on the name Liz Parker and her picture.

Maria: “What?’

Isabel: “She’s beautiful.”

Maria: “Let me see. … Elizabeth Claudia Parker.”

Both Isabel and Maria looked at each other and then to Liz who was completely oblivious to her aunts’ train of thought.

“Oh, here is the other girl from the picture, her name Serena Natalie Parker.” Maria said as she pointed to the girl beside Liz.

Isabel: “They’re sisters.”

As they skipped through more yearbooks, more pictures of Max, Michael, Tess, Serena and Liz would show up. Whether they were aware of the picture being taken, they always looked like a close-knit group, smiling and having fun with each other.

Isabel: “So we have a face with her name, now!!!”

Maria: “The million dollar question … where is she now?”

Isabel: “I have no clue, Ria!!”

As Isabel and Maria stared at the pictures lay out before them, Liz was becoming restless as Raze was trying to make sure that she didn’t bother his mom and aunt.

Maria: “Hey, Sweetie!! Nobody paying attention to you?”

Isabel: “Aww, Mucnhkin, Sorry!!!”

Maria: “Raze, can you go get Liz’s rattle from the living room?”

“Yup,” He said as he got off from the stool with some help from his mom

While Raze went to the living room, Isabel got up and picked Liz and twirled her around.

Isabel: “Were we ignoring you? I am sorry sweetie but we were trying to find out more about your namesake!!!”

Isabel grabbed a photo of Liz Parker and showed it to Liz, who giggled and then seemed to become fascinated by her.

Maria: “And according to your dad and uncle, she is going to remain a mystery.”

“Not if we can help it, right?” Isabel said as she winked at Liz.

At that moment, Liz broke into giggles, which in turn caused both Maria and Isabel to laugh also. Raze came back into the kitchen with the rattle, he gave Isabel Liz’s rattle and went to his mom carrying a mystery item.

“Mommy, look wht I foud?” He said as he gave Maria the piece of paper.

Maria: “Raze honey, where did you get this?”

Raze: “From floor.”

Isabel: “What is it?”

Maria: “I have no clue.”

Isabel: “Well, see who it belongs to.”

As Maria turned the letter around, she almost fell over once she realized who sent it.

Maria: “Isabel?”

Isabel: “Yeah?”

Maria: “You are so not going to believe this!!”

Isabel: “What?”

“It’s from Serena.”

Last time on From Up Above ...

Part 11

“Are you sure that this is the address, Ria?” Isabel asked.

Maria: “Isabel, for the billionth time, YES!!!”

Isabel: “Sorry, I guess I am nervous.”

Maria: “It’s ok; I can’t believe that Serena’s letter just fell onto our laps with her address. Someone up there must love us.”

Isabel and Maria had been driving around for almost ten minutes trying to locate Serena Parker’s house. When Maria had told Isabel that the letter found by Raze was in fact from Serena expressing her condolence for Tess, she almost fell over with Liz in tow. She grabbed the letter and made sure what Maria was saying was true. After reading the letter, she and Maria decided that this was their chance to find out where Liz Parker was, as they would locate Serena Parker. Leaving the kids with Isabel’s mom, Diane, and telling her to tell the boys that they had an errand; they were off.

Isabel: “Ok, there is the house.”

Maria: “I can’t believe this.”

Isabel: “You are telling me!”

Maria: “So what is going to be our alias?”

Isabel: “Alias?”

Maria: “Isabel, we can’t just go to the front door and go, hi, we are trying to find Liz Parker because we are curious and wanted to know the connection between Liz and Max.”

Isabel: “Ok, not really smooth. … So what’s our alias?

Maria: “Let’s just say that we are finding Serena Parker and the reason …”

Isabel: “The reason is?’

Maria: “I am sorry, ok!! It is not coming to me, maybe in the moment it will come to me.”

Isabel: “Well, here goes nothing. Come on, let’s go.”

Both Isabel and Maria got out of the car and walked toward the house. In front of them stood a brick house that was fairly large with three floors and windows all over that looked inside into the living room, dining room and possibly bedrooms. The front yard was decorated with Christmas ornaments of all sorts, as the holiday was approaching. As they got to the front door, both Isabel and Maria looked each other as Maria gave her the thumbs up before Isabel rang the doorbell. The door opened revealing a woman in her mid-forties with dark auburn hair with hints of grey hair that was worn loose, wearing a dark blue suit that suited her fair complexion and fitted well on her petite figure.

Woman: “Hello, can I help you?”

Isabel: “Hi, Umm… we are looking for Serena Parker?”

Woman: “Oh, you mean Adams.”

Maria: “Sorry, we meant to say Serena Parker Adams. Is she around?”

Woman: “No she isn’t.”

Isabel: “Oh, when do you expect her to be back?”

Woman: “Umm … actually never.”

Maria and Isabel : “Excuse me!?!”

Woman: “The Adams sold the house and moved closer to Serena’s parents, actually both sisters did.”

Isabel: “You wouldn’t happen to know by any chance where that is?”

Woman: “I am sorry, I never asked but you should have been here a little earlier, Serena, Liz and Damian were here to pick up the last remaining boxes.

Maria: “No forwarding address, no phone number, nothing?”

Isabel: “I am sorry but it was important to us to find Serena.”

Woman: “Well, I am sorry I can’t be more helpful. I hope you do find her and who knows, tis’ the season for miracles.”

Isabel: “Thank you for your time.”

The door closed, and both Maria and Isabel walked away with faces of sadness and defeat. As they got to the car, they looked across and saw an unoccupied park bench and simultaneously they both headed toward it without confirming with each other. Both sat and sighed and looked across the playground filled with kids going down the slide, monkey bars and the swings.

After many moments of silence and deep thought, Isabel spoke, “I really thought we would find her.”

Maria: “You know she is right, it is going to take a MIRACLE now to find them.”

Isabel: “I hear you and maybe we are not supposed to find them.”

Maria: “Maybe we will never know who Liz Parker is and what happened. I guess we just should accept fate telling us, you are not going to find her.”

Isabel: “Maybe but …”

“But?” Maria asked as she gave Isabel a questioning look.

Isabel turned around and faced Maria before she spoke, “But Tess made a tape for Liz Parker for a reason and she expected us to give it to her.”

Maria: “I understand that … but it may not happen.”

Isabel: “Ria, a woman who knew she was dying made tapes and wrote letters for people she loved. Now I understand making tapes for her daughter, Max and us but Liz Parker and top it all off, she names her daughter after Liz.”

Maria: “It’s bugging you a lot, isn’t it?”

Isabel: “I know it shouldn’t but you know how I am, I need to know things and take control of them. And this is completely out of my control.”

Maria: “Isabel, I agree with you and there is a reason to why this happened but how?”

“I think somehow we need that miracle.” Isabel said as she smiled at Maria.

“Same feeling here, chica,” Maria answered back with a smile also.

Maria: “So what do we do now?”

Isabel: “I have no clue but maybe we should give up and … accept we are never going to find her.”

Maria: “Do you really feel like doing that?”

Isabel: “In my world NO, but in reality, I think we should.”

Maria: “Yeah, before you know it, we became obsessed with finding her and all we do is breathe, eat and sleep Liz Parker and ignore our family. I don’t think I want that.”

“Definitely not.” Isabel said as she laughed along with Maria.

Maria: “What do we tell Max and Michael? And Alex and Kyle?”

Isabel: “Max and Michael, nothing and Alex and Kyle, maybe someday we’ll tell them.”

Maria: “Ready to go, Sherlock?”

Isabel: “Yes, Watson. For a while let’s stay away from being detective and live life because you never know.”

Maria: “You got it babe.”

As both Isabel and Maria walked out of the park, up above, she smiled to herself and told the elder gentlemen “Don’t worry, all is not lost.”

“Explain how this is going to happen?”

“ In due time!!”

“You know, I can see why my grandson married you!!”

“Thanks, Grandpa Evans!!!”

Both of them embraced and looked down as Isabel and Maria got into the car and drove away.

Hey, how are you?? Thanks for saying that the parts didn't suck but I'm always self-conscious about each part, hoping that it doesn't bore readers. Your assumption about Tess and Michael and how they knew about Liz loving Max, you are close, so close and I would love to tell you but then, the element of surprise would totally not work. Have I already told you that I love your feedback, because I do!!
Thanks so much for the feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays!!

Alien614 --->

Hey!! I am curious about what 614 stand for??
Thanks so for the feedback, *big* Happy Holidays!!

mpls muse --->

Robyn, how are ya?? I love your b-mails!! You know, you and angelbaby6977 should compare notes, because both of you are so close about the guesses. Ah, so you like how Little Liz became fascinated by the picture, good eye!! It is foreshadowing.. all I can say is, she is one of the vital keys in this fic!! The reason for Liz missing graduation, it shall be explained!!
Thanks for the great feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays

maxiesdreamgirl --->

I continue to amaze you, wrong girlfriend, I think it is the other way around!! tHe whole bit about the whole damn fruit stall, lol!!! Glad to see that you are craving this fic and Missy, Back 2 U, I am waiting on pins and needles here!! Love the nickname you gave Maria and Isabel, you know I think I am going to use it in one of my parts, of course with your permission!! Oh Goody, we could be giddy together waiting for her to come. I hope everything has calm down over there!!
[reaching out and hugging]
Thanks so much for the feedback. *big*
Happy Holidays

btw... how could I not after what you did, thanks

honeybee --->

Where oh where is LIZ?? the answer, she is coming and I hope that I don't disappoint all of you in that department, meaning how she makes her appearance!!
Thanks so much for the feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays

Meagzie -->

Loved the screen name!! Glad to have you on board!!! I love writing Maria and Isabel, they are so much fun because even though in the show, they don't act like this, I thought I would change the relationship a bit!!
Max and Liz, hmm... these two are a little hard to write because there is history that needs to be dealt with!!!
I am glad that you find this creative, that is a first!!
Thanks so much for the feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays

roswellluver -->

Hey, just wanted to say thanks so much for the constant feedback and the encouragement!!
Thanks for the feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays

Crazy4Jason -->

Hey Paula!! Well, Micha is short for Michaela, my middle name, and I don't also have the energy to write my whole name also!!! Thanks for loving the fic!!
Thanks so much for the feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays

Strawbehrry Shortcake -->

I would worry that I was boring my readers!! Hopefully, the parts I have written shall notch up the interesting factor!!
Thanks for the feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays

LegalAlien -->

Hey Joe!! How are ya? I am glad that you are liked the part!! Her disappearance will be explained and the connection to Max, some of it was explained in
Part 9B but the whole story shall be coming soon!!
Thanks so much for the feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays

kittens --->

Hey!! For the time being, there are no aliens in this fic but you never know I may change my mind!! and let me know what I can explain about the plot so you can have a clear idea of what is going?
Thanks for the feedback, *big*
Happy Holidays

SciFiNut111 -->

Hey!! How are ya? I think I decided to name Maria and Isabella, the Nancy Drew twins because it is only fitting. Geez, Max chose Tess over Liz? Guess he was heavily into the drug scene in college huh? ok, I laughed at that comment, funny!!! *big* You know as much as I hated her in the show, I wanted to write her as being a good person that she could have been if the writers went into that direction. But hey, I am dreamer and will always be!! As you know, Michael made a promise to Liz not tell anyone including Max about what
happened but I would love for Maria and Isabel to corner him and ask him!! Because there are lot things that each person knows, but not the whole story!!! See I posted one more part and I will post more as soon as I get back.
Thanks for your feedback, *big* Happy Holidays

You are also simply the best and thanks so much for your feedback, you always manage to put a smile on my face!! hugs to you!!!

Trust me, the screen name is creative!! Oh, I have a feeling that Isabel and Maria will be back and into the search mode again!! I like to call them the Nancy Drew Twins as Jayne called them!! Well, I am back and hopefully your restless mind won't annoy you for much longer, thanks so much for your feedback!! How was your holiday??

It's a shame that Maria and Isabel were so close yet nothing!! But trust Tess to have a backup plan, always trust her to know what she is doing because she does!!
Thanks so much for the feedback!!!

Oh, that's interesting with the idea, I hope you got my b-mail about that!! Good question about Tess wanting M/L together so why didn't she get them together before she die but you see things always don't work out that way, it will be all explained!! Thanks so much for the feedback!!

Again, always trust Tess, I know it's a little difficult but she knows what she is doing! oh, the plan will be interesting so stay tuned!!! Thanks so much for the feedback, how was your holidays???

Strawbehrry Shortcake

Can I just say that I absolutely adore your screen name *big* Did you really like the end with Tess and Grandpa Evans, I was a little unsure of what people might think but I am glad that you loved that part!!
Thanks so much for the feedback, how was your holidays???

Hi, Joe!!! Well, I can say that my Christmas stress is over and now I have a whole new term of stress to worry
about, exciting isn't it?? I hear you about giving presents to people, every year it gets harder and harder!! I think I have lost a couple of brain cells along the years!!
They are both Sherlock and Holmes and the Nancy Drew Twins all rolled into one, I have a blast writing about these two, they are so much and the need to know everything is hilarious!! but you know them , they won't give up!!! Thanks so much for the feedback, how were your holidays!!

I can't believe I actually shocked you, go ME!!! Let's just call it, temporary insanity on Maria for dropping the search!! But come on, this is Maria we are talking about!! Do you think she will sit for long and just let it go by and even Isabel!!! So far you've led us to believe that Max has lost his soulmate, Tess. (God, I can't believe that I wrote that in a sentence.)
Ok, I laughed so much at that comment!! I know can you believe that I, Micha, A DReamer in heart actually put
M/T as soulmates but.... Hopefully the next few parts we will find out how Max feels about her because we really have no clue on what his feelings are towards her are?? She will be introduced in the next few parts!!
Thanks so much for the feedback!! how were your holidays??

Welcome and I did see your feedback at the old board!! I am glad you think that this is interesting and different!!
I am trying my hardest to make it interesting and yet lovable!! You are good for my ego, you actually love the witty little things that they say to each other, WOW!!
stay tuned, there is more where that came from!!
Thanks so much for the feedback!

I hope also that Isabel and Maria can find Liz soon also, can you just imagine the scene when they finally find her!! the reaction, the tension and all the buildup!!! Stay tuned!!Thanks so much for the feedback, how were your holidays!!

WOW, I can't believe you are reading my fic and I actually made you cry!! I absolutely adore your fics and this is so cool that you are actually like it!! I am glad that you and everyone are intrigued by the past. Hopefully, inquiring minds will be eased soon!!!
Thanks so much for the feedback!!

Hey you! Don't worry I have a weakness for tall, dark and handsome also!! I am glad that your curiosity is peaked, and I am sorry about not posting a new
new part before you left!! I saw your feedback after I left!! Well hopefully when you get back, there will be a new part!! Where did you go? Did you have fun?

15B and 16 are almost done and here is a little hint to what's in there...may answer some questions!!!

I will be back later to repost!!

Part 12

Eight Years Later …the year 2017

Nightfall had slowly descended on the citizens of Cahaba City, yet the streets were buzzing with people coming in and out of shops, with many bags in tow. Everywhere, signs of Christmas approaching were evident along the sidewalks, lampposts, and trees and on shop windows. The centre of the city, Heart Square, was decorated with bright lights and in the middle stood a gigantic Christmas tree decked with all the trimmings. Christmas in Cahaba City was a jolly affair as people shopped while children of all ages skated to their hearts content at the skating rink that evolved around Heart Square. Sounds of laughter, joy, and happiness were heard all over, as people were in high spirits and wanted to spread the good cheers to everyone.

Though, Christmas was a month away people wanted to finish their holiday shopping ahead of time, and that was evident a couple of blocks away from the square at the Cahaba Mall. The rush of people grew and lines at the cash register were long, yet expected, but everyone stayed in good spirits. In the helm of the crazy line-ups, stood two women who kept looking at their watches to make sure they were on time for an important event.

“Ok, how much time do we have left, Ria?”

“We shopped in under two hours, I have to say that is a record for us, Isabel.” Maria said as both of them finally got to the cash register after waiting for almost 20 minutes in the line.

“We have everything, right?” Isabel asked as she paid the cashier for her purchases.

Maria surveyed the bags in her hands and Isabel’s before answering, “Yes, we have the presents, cups, plates, balloons, streamers and … the cake is being taken care of as we speak.”

“Ok, good, we have time.” Isabel spoke as both her and Maria got out of the Disney store with their presents.

“Time for what?” Maria asked Isabel as she gave her a questioning look.

“Time for you to give me an opinion on the present I am getting Alex for Christmas.” Isabel stated.

“What are you getting him?” Maria asked as she walked along side Isabel

“Something I saw at Winston’s Jewellers.” Replied Isabel

“Really!?!” Maria exclaimed

“Yeah, come on!!” Isabel replied as she took Maria’s elbow and whisked her into the crowds as they both made their way to the jewellers

Meanwhile in Winston’s Jewellers, it was fairly quiet except for two women; one had long dark brown hair that passed her shoulders while the other also had brown hair yet with mahogany streaks. Both had been sitting there almost an hour deciding on which bracelet to get, as many surrounded each.

“Do you think she will like that?”

“I don’t think so, Mom is not a flashy person and that piece is.”

“Liz, we have been shopping for almost three months trying to get the perfect bracelet. Everything we see is not right. Maybe we are too picky”

“Blame Mom for that, Serena. We got those qualities from her.”

“Where is Henry?” Liz asked as she looked around.

As soon as the name was uttered, an older gentleman in his sixties came out and greeted them.

“Ah, my two favourite ladies how are we?”

“Henry!! We have been waiting for you.” Serena spoke as she placed a kiss on his right cheek.

“Good to see you Serena and how are you, Miss Parker? Still working hard I assume? You know your father keeps complaining to me on how you should marry and have children.” Henry spoke with a raised eyebrow.

“Well, you know Dad, he won’t give up.” Liz said as she also hugged Henry.

Henry Winston and The Parkers had been close friends; Henry had known Serena and Liz’s grandmother Claudia, and when she died he still remained in touch with the family.

“So what can I do for you two?” Henry asked.

‘Well, we are trying to find a bracelet for mom, and we have been searching for months for it but nothing jumps out at us. Don’t take any offence but mom likes something simple.” Liz explained the dilemma.

“Give a minute and let’s me see at the back. Hmm … I think I have what you are looking for.” Henry spoke and with that he went to the back and searched

While Henry left, both Serena and Liz looked at each other and smiled hoping that they would finally find the bracelet they were looking for. As both looked around at other pieces of jewellery,

Liz’s cell rang. “Parker.” Liz answered. “Oh, hey Harmen.” Liz replied.

At the sound of the name, Serena looked up and winked at her while Liz gave her sister the don’t-start-with-me-again-look. As Liz took the call, Serena turned at the sound of two women who just walked in, one was tall with blond hair that was hanging loose while the other had shorter hair passed her jaw.

“What are you getting Max for Christmas.” Maria questioned Isabel as they both walked into the jewellers

“I don’t know, Max has always been the hardest to shop for, even when we were kids.” Isabel shrugged as both sat at the counter near where the watches were displayed.

“Well, I told Michael this great idea I had for Max’s present and he flatly said NO WAY.” Maria spoke as she flung her arms up in the air.

“What was the idea?” Isabel inquired

“Umm…to find a date for Max for Christmas." Maria replied back.

“A date for Max? Hmm … I know why Michael said no way.” Isabel smirked

“But come on, it has been eight years, I am not saying he has to marry her, just go on a date. Simple, no strings attached.” Maria spoke in frustration.

“For once, I am going to stay out of this, this is between you and Michael.” Isabel answered back.

“And you call yourself my friend. Thanks Isabel.” Maria said as she lightly hit Isabel’s right arm.

“Anytime.” Isabel smiled.

“So what are you getting Alex again?” Maria asked as she looked around at the watches.

“I was thinking of getting him a pocket watch and engraving it.”

“AWW that is sweet. Which is it?” Maria exclaimed and clapped her hands.

“Actually I chose it already, I just wanted to know what you thought of it.” Isabel told her.

With that said, Isabel waved to Fredrick, who worked there and always dealt with Isabel when she shopped at the jewellers.

“Ah Isabel, how are you?” Fredrick asked as he approached them.

“Good, remember that watch I put on hold, can I see it again before I buy it?” Isabel asked him.

“Ah, yes.” Fredrick answered and turned around, he opened the cabinet, pulled out a medium velvet box, and handed it to Isabel.

Isabel opened the box and showed Maria the silver watch, “Very ritzy.” Replied Maria and she turned the watch and saw the engraving that was displayed. ‘Feb 14, 2008. Love Always, Ice Princess’ Maria smiled at the pet name that was given to Isabel when she was younger. “He is going to love it, Isabel.”

Meanwhile at the other corner, Liz finished her call and turned around to see her sister smiling at her, “What?” she asked.

“Nothing. Just wanted to know how … Harmen is?” Serena replied, yet the smile on her face was getting bigger.

“He is good and said hi.” Liz answered as she turned her attention to the bracelets.

“Oh, that is good.” Serena answered back yet the smile wasn’t fading yet.

“Ok Serena, say what you have to say because we both know that you want to say it badly.” Liz said as she looked up at her sister.

“What?” Serena replied innocently. “I don’t have anything to say except maybe that … Harmen is perfect for you and you for him.” Serena continued..

“Oh No, not this again.” Liz groaned, as she knew where this was heading.

“Oh Come on, you are perfect for each other, he is good-looking, he has money, he is your business partner, funny, and …MAY I remind you that the man can hold an intelligent conversation and you love him.” Serena babbled.

“AS a friend, Serena. I love him as a FRIEND.” Liz quickly replied.

“Nonetheless, you guys are good together, even Damian says so. I don’t know what else you are looking for.” Serena replied back and turned around saw Henry walking back with something clutched in his hands.

As Henry walked back and presented them with a diamond bracelet, Liz was in her own world as she still replayed her sister’s words in her head, “I don’t know what else you are looking for.”

She stayed silent and also wondered what else she was looking for. Her and Harmen had been friends for almost 12 years, ever since her internship in Paris. She looked at her sister and Henry as they showed her the bracelet; she smiled weakly at both of them.

By her facial expression, Serena was pleased with the choice yet Liz couldn’t hear her as she still was thinking and then out nowhere a feeling that she suppressed so long ago came, she realized the answer to her sister’s question, “I don’t know what else you are looking for,” repeated again, she answered silently, “Love.”

“Liz, Liz, LIZ!!” Serena shouted silently at her sister who seemed to be miles away.

“Huh, what Serena?” Liz answered quickly in hopes that her sister didn’t suspect anything.

“The bracelet how is it? … Are u ok?” Serena asked with concern.

“Yes, I am fine.” Liz replied quickly. “The bracelet is beautiful Henry. I think we found mom’s gift, don’t you think Serena?” She continued on.

“I was thinking the same thing, we’ll take it Henry.” Serena said but she looked over at her sister again, not assured that she was ok.

“Do you think Alex will like it?” Isabel asked Maria as she handed Fredrick her visa card.

“Yes, Alex will treasure it for the rest of his life.” Maria smiled back

“What are you getting Michael for Christmas?” Isabel inquired

“Michael … You see he is little different to shop for.” Answered Maria

“How?” Isabel questioned Maria

“You need to get him something practical rather than sentimental. Like golf clubs or skis. Something he can use” Maria replied.

“Ahh.” Isabel replied as Fredrick came back with her visa card and the receipt to sign, while he put the box into a gift bag.

While on the other corner, Serena and Liz paid for their bracelet and were putting on their coats to head out as Henry came back with the gift bag also

“Here you are, ladies. Your mom is going to love it.” Henry exclaimed

“Thanks Henry, we will see you at the cabin for Christmas?’ Liz asked.

“I will be there with bells on.” Henry replied quickly

Both Serena and Liz then gave Henry a hug, walked out of the store, and headed to the right. Isabel and Maria also got up at the same time, thanked Fredrick for all his help, walked out of the store, and headed to the left.

What each failed to notice, or anyone else for that matter, were the two angelic figures that were standing in the middle of the store, both dressed in white and listening in on both conversation the entire time.

“Amazing, how they missed each other, isn’t it?” Asked the older gentlemen.

“Yeah.” The woman replied.

“What’s going to happen now?” the older gentlemen asked again.

“Now, it shall begin.” Replied the woman.

“You mean …” he gave her a questioning look.

“I have waited for eight years for this.” Replied the woman again.

Both of them walked out of the store and stood in the middle, looking onward in both directions.

“Their paths are going to cross … but…” The woman said

“Wait and see.”

Part 13

Author’s Note:
Liz Evans will be known as Liz (little)
Liz Parker will be known as Liz (older)

“Alex, do you think she will like the cake.” Kyle asked.

“Oh, Definitely. I mean what child is going to refuse a chocolate fudge cake.” Alex replied as he and Kyle crossed the street with their skates in hand.

Both of them had just dropped the birthday cake home and were headed to the square, everyone, including Maria, Isabel, Max, Michael, Liz (little) and Raze, were meeting at the skating rink for some familt bonding. All of them had been busy for the past several weeks, and this had become a ritual of sorts, day before Liz’s birthday they go skating and just have a ball.

Michael, Liz, and Raze were already there, Max was on his way while Maria and Isabel wanted to shop before heading over. As they approached the skating rink, they waved to Michael who was already on the ice with both children. He headed over in their direction after whispering something in Raze’ ears.

“So the cake is done?” Michael questioned Alex and Kyle as he approached them.

“The cake is made, sealed and sitting in the freezer as I sit here and tie my laces. Isabel will be proud of us, I can guarantee you that.” Replied Kyle

“Good to know, you know how Izzy is with Birthdays and Christmas.” Michael said

“The correct term would be Birthday and Christmas Nazi.” Kyle grinned.

“Hey, that is my wife and your best friend we are talking about.” Alex chipped in

“And we love her to deathAlex, but you know how she is if something is out of sync. She is sort of like the mother hen of this group.” Michael responded

“Can you believe she is going to be eight tomorrow?” Kyle asked, as he looked past the rink and at the little girl with the dark brown shoulder length hair as she was laughing at something Raze said.

“Who would have believed that she would look like Max, have the same amber eyes and those ears, the same stubborn manner?” Alex amused.

“She is a mini-max, I tell you.” Michael replied

“But she has a heart of gold.” Kyle offered as all three looked over at where the little girl was and stared.

Meanwhile, down in the skating rink, she turned around and looked at her uncles who were staring at her again and sighed, “Uh Oh, they are at it again.” She told Raze as they stopped for a breather.

Raze looked over and saw his dad and his two uncles staring at them, “Liz, do you realize they do this all the time?”

“Yup. That’s nothing, sometimes Aunt Isabel and Aunt Ria will just stare at me and have tears in their eyes.” Replied Liz.

““I wonder why?” Raze asked.

“Because of my mom and I am special.” Liz exclaimed.

“Ok, someone here thinks way highly of themselves.” Raze replied.

“What?? You don’t think I am special.” Liz asked as she gave him an evil look.

“No, not special but definitely spoiled, Elizabeth” Raze quickly responded.

“WHAT did you just call me?” She asked bewildered.

“Elizabeth, you know it is your name.” Raze amused

“Yes, I know. Thank you for pointing that out and it’s Liz and I am not spoiled.” Liz shouted before skating away.

“Spoiled Brat!?!” Raze said loudly as he went after Liz.

Both kids skated to where Alex, Kyle, and Michael were sitting and snapped them out of their staring trance.

“So are we going to skate or stare?” Liz asked as she gave her uncles a questioning look.

“Sorry, we are definitely skating.” Kyle replied first.

“So how is my munchkin doing?” Alex asked as he gave his niece who was more of a daughter to him and Isabel, a fierce hug.

“Uncle Alex, I am about to be eight, you think we could stop calling me a munchkin?” Liz smiled at him.

“Sorry. Once a munchkin, always a munchkin.” Alex replied.

“Ok, how about we never call me that in front of my friends?” Liz asked.

“Ok, I get it. You are embarrassed by us but may I remind you that we are the hippest and the coolest uncles on the face of the earth, isn’t that right Kyle?” Alex grinned.

“Right, we let you get away with stuff that if Max ever found out, his head would spin.” Kyle added his two cents in.

“See I told you, you were spoiled.” Raze chipped in.

“Was I talking to you? No I don’t think so.” Liz replied in annoyance as she turned around to face her uncles again.

“So, that stuff that dad doesn’t need to know about, stays between us right?” Liz asked innocently.

“I don’t know Kyle, what do you think?” Alex asked.

“It depends on …” Kyle responded but was interrupted by Liz’s voice again, “Depending on what?” “Yeah, depending on what?” Alex interrupted also.

“Whoever makes it on the other side of the rink, first.” With that Kyle skated past them, Alex and Liz looked at one another and then both sprinted to try to win.

Both Michael and Raze smiled and looked on as Kyle finished first and then both him and Alex tickled Liz, making her laugh loudly.

“They are crazy. She is crazy.” Raze spoke.

“Definitely, thank god I am the normal one in this bunch.” Michael exclaimed

“Ok, whatever you say Dad." Raze laughed.

"So... when are mom and Aunt Isabel coming?” asked the eleven year old.

Michael looked at his watch and saw it was 6:00pm, “They should be here soon.” He replied and with that both son and father went to join the others.

Meanwhile a couple of blocks away, in the northeast direction stood Max at the Sportsmen store, waiting for his skates to be sharpened. He had given his skates and now he was waiting for them to finish, he looked at his watch and realized he was on time and had a few minutes to spare.

As he waited, he noticed another man also waiting with his impatient daughter, “Daddy, can I go look around, I hate waiting.”

“Yes but Alexis, I want you back in five.” Replied the man.

“Ok DAD.” With that said, the girl went off to discover. The man looked around, noticed Max, and smiled at him.

He walked over and stood by him, “Kids, very little attention span.” He replied.

“Don’t worry, I have an eight year old, same way.” Max smiled and replied back.

“I am Damian, and that was Alexis.” The man held out his hand for Max to shake.

Max shook his hand and replied, “I am Max, and her name is Elizabeth.”

“Skating at Heart Square?” Damian asked.

“Yup, my whole family is waiting including my daughter, it’s a tradition.” Max replied and beamed as he spoke of his family.

All of them had been his family, though Liz (little) and Isabel were family by blood, Michael, Maria, Alex, Raze, and Kyle were family by choice. They were there for him after Tess died and helped to raise Liz. It amazed him, how much each of them loved Liz as if she was their own child, especially Isabel. Both Alex and Isabel were trying to have kids but they were always unsuccessful, and later found out that they couldn’t have any. They were devastated and Max remembered that Isabel went through several bouts of depression and she still would have been if it had been for everyone else and Liz. Both her and Alex devoted their time to her and were sort of like second set of parents to her. Though Isabel never tried to fill the void of Liz’s mother, she became very close and protective of her, all of them did.

As he came back to the present, he was glad that they had each other and their bond was stronger than ever.

“How about you?” Max asked Damian as they still waited around.

“Oh, my wife and her sister are shopping for their mother and are meeting us there also. I didn’t want shop with them. You see I hate shopping” Damian responded.

“Ah, my sister and my best friend are also doing the same thing and I for one cannot handle crowds at the mall especially at this season.” Max grinned.

“Good to hear that I am not the only one.” Damian replied.

While they waited, Max and Damian continued talking, Alexis came back few moments later and noticed Max for the first time, “He looks familiar.” Alexis said to herself.

As she walked back to her dad, Alexis kept staring at Max, trying to figure out where she had seen him. Max also noticed that the little girl was staring at him and got self-conscious about his appearance.

“Oh Max, this is my daughter Alexis Remy Adams.” Damian introduced them to each other.

Max shook her hands and asked her, “Is there something on my face?”

Alexis immediately broke the trance and giggled at him, “It’s nice to meet and you just look really familiar.”

“Oh really, from where?” Max asked but was interrupted by Gus, the storeowner who gave him his newly sharpened skates.

As he paid Gus and took his skates, he walked over to Damian and Alexis, “Well. It was nice meeting you, have fun skating.”

“You too.” Damian answered back and with that Max walked out as his cell phone rang.

“Honey, what ‘s wrong?” Damian asked his daughter in concern who kept looking atthe doorway.

“Nothing Daddy except that man that you met looks really familiar.” Alexis spoke and looked at her dad.

“Where have you seen him, honey?” Damian again asked.

“This is going to sound silly because I know it’s not the same person, but do you remember the picture that Aunt Liz had on her nightstand from college,” Alexis asked her dad.

“Yeah. I remember.” Damian replied back.

Alexis continued on, “Well, he looks like that guy in the picture, the one beside Aunt Liz.”

Both father and daughter looked at each other and toward the doorway that Max walked out of.

“Hello?” Max answered his phone as he turned the corner and proceeded to walk through traffic.

“Max, where are you?” asked his sister on the other end.

“Isabel, I am walking through traffic right now. I am two minutes away.” Max replied, as he looked both ways as he made his way through the oncoming cars.

“WHY can’t you wait and cross when the pedestrian sign is on? Are YOU TRYING to give me a heart attack here?” Isabel said, frustrated.

“Isabel, I live for that.” Max chuckled into the phone.

“You are impossible.” Isabel replied back.

“Yes, but you love me, still.” Max quickly replied and smiled as he finished crossing the street.

“Isabel, where are you guys?” Max asked his sister as he walked into Heart Square.

“We are coming … and …” Isabel answered

“And what Isabel…” Max asked but all he heard was a big thump and apologies exchanged on the other end of the phone.

Part 14

AN: The Revised version of 15A will be out tonight!!!

Maria and Isabel had walked out of the mall and decided to put away their shopping packages in Isabel’s car before they headed over to meet up with everyone.

“Did you hear about Kyle’s date last night.” Maria inquired.

“Bits and pieces from Alex, but what happened?” Isabel asked Maria as she opened the hood of her 2017 Camry.

“Well apparently, Kyle says that Sofia may be the one.” Maria replied.

“As in what? Is Kyle ready to settle down?” Isabel questioned Maria.

“Well, he took Michael with him last week to look at possible rings.” Maria replied back.

Isabel looked at Maria and asked her, “Are you serious? Michael, He took Michael!!! HE doesn’t know anything about rings, why the hell would he take him??”

“Have no clue but he did.” Maria replied back.

Isabel stopped what she was doing and looked at Maria, “OK, you are telling me that our Kyle is thinking of settling down and we haven’t met her yet? Oh, wait until I get my hands on that man.” Isabel exclaimed as she shut the hood closed and locked the car.

“Well, I am first in that line so get behind me, he apparently told the guys not to tell us yet. Can YOU believe that??” Maria exclaimed as she and Isabel crossed the street to head over.

“So how did you find out all this?” Isabel asked.

“I have my ways.” Maria winked at her.

“Ahh, you went to Michael and used your feminine charms on him, didn’t you.” Isabel grinned.

“I do not kiss and tell.” Maria laughed.

As they continue to walk, Isabel looked at her watch and wondered where Max was. He had told her that he needed to get his skates sharpened and would meet as soon as he was done with that.

“I wonder where Max is.” Isabel said loudly.

“Call him and see where he is.” Maria replied back.

Isabel pulled out the phone and dialled his number. The phone rang three times and Isabel was about to cut the connection when she heard, “Hello?” “Max, where are you?” Isabel inquired.

“What, why can’t you wait and cross like normal people? You know, when the pedestrian sign comes up. Are you trying to give me a heart attack here?” Isabel said frustrated.

“You do realize that you are impossible.” Isabel chuckled into the phone.

Both Maria and Isabel continued walking, and as they turned around the corner, Isabel didn’t see the figure on her path and both collided with each other.

“Oh, I am so sorry.” Isabel exclaimed as she looked at the woman in front of her

“It’s ok, I should have seen where I was going.” Replied Liz (older).

Both Isabel and Maria looked at each other and then onto the woman, who had long dark brown hair passed her shoulders, and was wearing a toque. Her eyes sparkled as she talked yet the light shadowed her face.

“Ummmm…. Again, I am sorry, I was on the phone and. …Forgot where I was walking.” Isabel said apologetically yet intently staring at the figure in front of her.

Liz felt a little self-conscious as both women were staring at her with gawking eyes especially the shorter woman, “Ummm…It’s ok, I didn’t break any bones. No apologies necessary” Liz replied and waved to them as she quickly disappeared round the corner.

“Isabel?’ the voice on the phone echoed.

“Oh Max, sorry.” Isabel said as she continued to walk, “I bumped into this woman and I was apologizing to her. Yeah I’m fine.” “We’ll see you soon.” Isabel answered and turned the phone off.

As Isabel continued to walk on, she realized that she was alone and Maria was still standing at the same spot where she bumped into the woman. “Maria, what’s wrong?” Isabel asked as she walked back to her.

“Was it just me or something about that woman was REALLY familiar?” Maria questioned Isabel as she kept looking back to where the other woman turned around.

“I know, it’s like we have seen her somewhere right??” Isabel asked Maria

“Yeah, but where Isabel? She looks really familiar, I know I have seen her somewhere and for the love of god, but I can’t remember.” Maria replied in a frustrated tone.

“I’m losing my memory and that is not a good sign.” Maria exclaimed as she and Isabel began to walk again.

“Well if you are losing your memory, count me in because my brain is drawing a blank also.” Isabel replied back as she turned around once more to look at the corner.

“But Isabel we have seen before, I KNOW it, but where?? ARGHH.” Maria sighed in frustration as they crossed the street.

Both Maria and Isabel continued walking, entered the gate into Heart Square, and saw Max walking from the opposite direction.

“Max!!” Isabel shouted as she waved to him.

“Hey guys.” Max replied, as he got closer to both of them and noticed the peculiar faces.

“What’s wrong?” Max asked as he looked at Maria who seemed to have something on her mind.

“Umm…What?” Isabel asked.

“Ok, what’s going on guys?” Max asked again.

“Nothing Max, it’s just the woman we bumped into looked really familiar and it’s bugging the hell out of me, because I can’t remember where I have seen her.” Maria answered back with irritation.

“Well, what did she look like?” Max asked.

“Long dark brown hair but we couldn’t see her face, the light from the lamp post shadowed her face but it’s the eyes, I have seen them before.” Isabel replied back.

“Shall we go look for this mystery woman?” Max asked as he looked at Isabel and Maria.

“You know what, now is not the time, we should go and see where everyone is.” Isabel responded back.

“Are you sure?” Max enquired.

“It’s ok we can handle the restless nights of wondering and contemplating, we have done it for the last eight years.” Isabel replied as she looked at Maria.

“What stuff did you two have to think about that gave you restless night for the last eight years.” Max asked, as his curiosity was peaked.

“ Things, lot of things Max, you wouldn’t believe the things that women can wonder about and worry about.” Isabel answered back as she looked at Maria.

“Trust me, you would be very surprised to know what we think about, very surprised.” Maria chipped in.

“Ok, how about I leave it at that, because I am never going to figure out how you two operate, so shall we go?” Max asked his sister and his best friend.

“Definitely, Let’s go find the rest of them.” Maria said as she looped her arm around Max’s arms.

“I wonder what mischief they have gotten themselves into today.” Isabel said as she also did the same and all three headed to find their family.

For the next two hours, Maria, Isabel, Liz, Max, Michael, Alex, Kyle, and Raze proceeded to have a ball. They laughed, tickled the kids endlessly, and took pictures of many great moments, thanks to Maria’s camera.

As each hour passed, the crowd at the skating rink got bigger and bigger. As Liz looked around her surroundings, she saw children with their dads and moms and felt a little sad. She skated away from the group and sat by the bench on the other side. Max had seen his daughter’s face as she looked at the children with their moms and he wanted to make it better but he couldn’t.

For the most part, Liz was a happy child; she was mature for her age of eight, never lacked in anything. She was an honour student at Western Academy, had many friends, and had Isabel for anything. She was like her second mother; she looked up to her and adored her. But there were times like now, she would be sad and Max knew why, she missed her mother and rightfully so. It was going to be eight years tomorrow that she had died giving birth to her.

Max skated to his daughter and sat beside her, “Liz?” He asked.

“Hmm, Dad.” Liz replied back and looked at her dad with slight tears in her eyes.

“Oh Baby.” Max said as he hugged her with all his love and might.

“Want to tell me what is going on?” Max questioned his daughter as he continued to hug her.

“I just miss her.” Liz mumbled into Max’s chest.

He pulled her up and wiped the tears on her face, “I know you do and so do I, it’s not easy, huh?” Max asked.

“Most of the time, it’s ok but it’s just my birthday and Aunt Iz is great but sometimes I just wish that Mom were here.” Liz said as she smiled weakly at her dad.

“ Well I know that if she was here, she would say that she loved you and she is proud of you.” Max replied as he smiled back at her before continuing on, “I know that you miss Mom and it’s ok but you know what?” Max asked.

Liz looked her dad, “What?” she asked.

“You have three uncles that absolutely adore you, two aunts that spoil you rotten, two sets of grandparents that spoil you more, you have Raze who annoys you but you love him and you have me and I love you more than my life itself.” Max said as his tears began to roll down his cheek.

“I love you Daddy. You’re BF4E.” Liz said as she took her hands out of her gloves and wiped the tears and enveloped her dad in another hug.

“Right back at you, my BF4E.” Max replied back.

“Can anyone join or is this a father and daughter moment?” Isabel asked as looked at Max and Liz.

“Of course, you can join in Aunt Izzy.” Liz said as she and her dad broke away from their hug.

Isabel sat down next to Liz and was engulfed in a hug in an instant, “I love you, Aunt Isabel.” Liz said in her ear.

“I love you too.” Isabel said as she was surprised but understood where it was coming from.

“Oh come on, give me some sugar also.” Maria said as she came in front of Liz.

“I love you, Aunt Ria.” Liz giggled before she hugged her feisty aunt.

“Me too sugar.” Maria answered back.

And pretty soon, the whole group had come by and gotten a hug from Liz, well all except Raze, who just got a handshake.

“How about once more around and then we go home?” Isabel asked the group.

“Let’s go.” Both Alex and Kyle said and sprinted off.

Raze took Isabel’s hand and chased after the two, followed by Maria and Michael who held hands and drifted away slowly.

“Want to go?” Max asked his daughter.

“Nah, I am tired but can I go across the street and get some hot chocolate from Mrs. Rossini?” Liz asked her dad.

“Umm …” Max looked at his daughter, “Please Daddy.” She pleaded with her dad, “Ok, but as soon you get it, you came right back. Understand.” Max said sternly.

“Dad, everyone is around, nothing will happen but to make you happy, I will come back right away before you send for the National Guard.” Liz chuckled.

“Funny.” Max replied back. As he took his wallet out and handed her a two-dollar bill, Liz got out of her skates, wore her sketchers running shoes, and put her gloves back on.

With money in tow, she walked to the Mrs. Rossini, with her father watching her every step. As she crossed the street, she walked into the café that was famous for their hot chocolates, the secret was never revealed but it was pure perfection as her aunt Isabel always said.

Mrs. Rossini noticed Liz Evans walking toward the café as she looked out before, “Ha, there is my favourite customer.” Mrs. Rossini exclaimed as she came around the corner and hugged her.

“Hi, Mrs. Rossini.” Liz replied.

“How is my Bella?” Mr. Rossini asked as he also walked around the corner and gave her a hug.

“Good, can I have a medium hot chocolate with no whipped cream?” Liz asked politely.

“Where is your father?” Mrs. Rossini asked as she placed Liz in the front stool of the counter.

“Oh, he is at the skating rink with the others.” Liz replied, as she looked at the front display of desserts.

She kept looking at the cookies that looked delicious but realized she couldn’t have one because then she would spoil her dinner but they were so attempting and she didn’t think that her dad would mind if she had a little nibble.

Mrs. Rossini looked at Liz and knew she was eyeing the chocolate chip cookies that were sitting on the counter, “How about we don’t tell you father that you had a cookie, huh?” She asked.

Liz smiled at her innocently and nodded, yet her eyes were full of mischief.

As Mrs. Rossini took a cookie out, the bell at the front door chimed again and in walked another customer.

The café was not busy as only several people were sitting around enjoying their coffees. Mrs. Rossini placed the cookie on a plate, put it front of Liz, and winked at her.

Liz giggled at her and went for the cookie while Mrs. Rossini greeted her new customer, “Miss Parker, how are you?”

Part 15A

“Hi Mrs. Rossini, I’m good.” Older Liz replied, “How are you?” She continued on as she kissed the café owner on both cheeks..

“Well, some days good and some days bad but can’t complain, where is your sister?” Mrs. Rossini asked as she walked back to the counter.

“Serena is good, she is at the skating rink with Damian and Alexis.” Liz replied back as she sat down beside the little girl.

“Ah good, what can I get for you?” Mrs. Rossini asked Liz, “Give me three medium hot chocolates and a small, to go. Oh, can I have mine mixed with the white and dark?” Liz asked.

Mrs. Rossini raised her eyebrows and looked at the little girl, “Ah, you see another one that likes hot chocolate the way you do.”

Both Lizs looked at each other and smiled, Little Liz brought her hand out and introduced herself, “Hi ya, my name is Liz, short for Elizabeth.”

The other Liz smiled and shook her hand and replied back, “Hi, my name is Liz Parker, short for Elizabeth also.”

“Are you here by yourself?” Older Liz asked.

“No, my dad is at the skating rink along with everyone else.” Little Liz replied quickly as she stuffed another piece of cookie down her mouth.

“Chocolate chip cookie, huh?” asked Older Liz.

Little Liz could only nod, as she knew it was impolite to talk with mouth fool.

“They are my favourite also.” Liz smiled at the little girl.

“Would you like a piece?” Little Liz asked as soon as she was finish eating her piece.

“Are you sure?” Older Liz questioned her. “Of course.” Little Liz chuckled again.

“I am guessing that your father would flip out if he found out you were having a cookie so close to dinner.” Older Liz inquired. “The biggest.” Little Liz replied and grinned.

“Don’t worry my dad was the same way when I was younger.” Older Liz replied.

“Where are your parents?” Little Liz asked.

“My parents are an hour from Cahaba, in Winchester.” Older Liz responded.

“Oh, my nana lives there too.” Exclaimed Little Liz.

“So may I ask where your mom is, I heard about Dad, is she also at skating rink?” Older Liz asked.

At that instant Mrs. Rossini looked up at little Liz with a sympathetic look, Liz saw Mrs. Rossini’s expression and immediately turned to see the little girl’s face had saddened by her question, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be asking that.” Older Liz retracted.

“It’s ok, my mom is in heaven. She died when I was born.” Little Liz quietly told the older woman.

“Oh, I am sorry.” Older Liz said sadly.

“It’s alright. I miss her a lot but as my Dad says, I have a lot of people that love me.” Little Liz quietly spoke.

Liz realized she needed to bring the smile back to the girl’s face as she ate her cookie in sombre.

“I bet you are the apple of your father’s eye.” Older Liz exclaimed.

“Yup.” Little Liz replied with a smile.

“My friend Raze thinks I am spoiled but I am not, Daddy loves me too much, and sometimes I have no idea what he would do without me.” Little Liz rambled on.

“Why?” Older Liz asked in curiosity,

“Well you see, my Dad has a hard time shopping for himself, and frankly he hates shopping so me and aunt Izzy have to go shopping for him. But he can be a bit stubborn so it takes us the WHOLE day to shop for him and I always tell him that I have important stuff to do.” Little Liz fully explained.

“Important Stuff like what?” Older Liz asked.

“Oh, doing homework, hanging out with my best friend Mirza, playing street hockey with my uncles and watching Roswell.” Little Liz answered back

“Wow, you are one busy girl.” Older Liz smiled.

“I know, but does my dad understand that, OF COURSE NOT, he thinks I have all this free time.” Little Liz said in a huff.

“So you must look like your mom?” Older Liz asked.

“Nope, unfortunately I look like my dad, my mom was very beautiful, and she didn’t have these wacky ears.” Liz said as she pointed.

“Max used to have wacky ears.” Liz said to herself. “Wait a minute, where did that thought come from?” Liz questioned herself.

“Miss Parker?” Little Liz called out.

“Sorry, …you do not have wacky ears and your dad must very handsome because you are beautiful.” Older Liz replied back.

“Oh, thank you.” Little Liz replied politely.

“So what does your dad do?” Older Liz asked, “My dad and my uncle own a advertising firm.” Little Liz replied and beamed as she mentioned her father.

“So what do you do?” Little Liz asked.

“I am a chemist.” Replied Older Liz.

As she looked at the little girl, she noticed a confused expression on her face, “Umm…what does a chemist do?” Little Liz inquired as she finished her cookie.

“Well, I work at a fragrance company and it is my job to develop new fragrance that people will wear and love.” Older Liz replied back.

“So do you have children? “ Little Liz asked.

“Umm…none so far.” Older Liz chuckled.

“Why not? You are beautiful.” Little Liz said.

“Thank you, but …I haven’t found him yet.” Older Liz responded.

“Him?” Little Liz asked in curiosity.

“The person that I guess I am supposed to spend the rest of my life with. He’s out there somewhere.” Older Liz smiled.

“Oh, my Dad has that same philosophy.” Little Liz slowly uttered.

“Which is?” Liz inquired.

“He keeps telling my aunt Isabel and Ria who try to set him up on a date all the time, that there is only one soul mate and you only fall in love and marry once. My dad is a head case in everything but he is my BF4E.” Little Liz giggled, as she was completely oblivious to Liz’s shocked face.

“BF4E???” That kept blaring her head as she looked at the little girl who was chatting away about something. “Max and I used to say that all the time to each other, nobody else knew.” Liz looked at the girl and examined her carefully, she looked at her “wacky ears,” and then her eyes and she gasped silently. The eyes resembled the eyes of a man that she hadn’t seen in almost twelve years, “It can’t be…uh huh, no way Liz. You are going crazy.” Liz repeated to herself.

“Liz, where did you pick up BF4E from?” Liz asked the little girl

“Oh, you mean Best Friends 4 Ever phrase, well, my dad used it all the time when I was little, and I just picked it up from him.” Liz casually explained.

“ Oh.” Older Liz blurted out.

“So how come you haven’t found your soul mate yet? Little Liz inquired.

“Are you always curious about things?” Liz chuckled.

“My uncle Michael calls me Curious Liz instead of Curious George because I need to find out the why, how, when and what.” Little Liz replied back.

“Well, tell your Uncle Michael that it’s ok to be curious about things.” Older Liz said and smiled at her.

Mrs. Rossini came back to the counter with five cups of hot chocolate, “Here you are.” She said as she handed Little Liz, her medium cup and placed older Liz’s cups onto a tray.

Both of the Lizs’ paid Mrs. Rossini for the hot chocolates and walked out together as Little Liz held the door open for the other.

“How is your hot chocolate?” Older Liz asked as both of them waited for WALK sign to cross the street.

“As my aunt Isabel puts it, it’s pure perfection.” Liz replied back.

The WALK sign appeared, Older Liz clasped her hand with the little girl, and both walked forward. “Where is your dad?” Older Liz inquired as they finished crossing the street.

“Oh, he is over there.” Little Liz replied as she waved to her father, Liz slowly turned with anticipation and chills down her spine, yet all she saw was the figure and couldn’t make his face, since they were too far away.

“Well, it was nice to meet you, Ms. Parker.” Liz said as she took her gloved hand and shook it again.

“It was nice to meet you too Liz.” Liz Parker replied and waved as the little girl continued to walk in the middle while she stood in the middle and contemplated. “What’s wrong with you? Just because she mentioned the phrase or the fact that she has his ears or eyes, doesn’t mean that she is his daughter, could it? OMG, Did I just meet Max and Tess’s daughter? C’mon, no way. What would he be doing in this city?” Liz chuckled at the thought and headed to the right to find her family.

As she reached her dad, she smiled at him and went to sit beside him, “Liz, who was that you were talking to?” Max questioned his daughter.

“Oh, I met her at Mrs. Rossini, she is nice Dad and she was telling me that I was beautiful. Liz exclaimed.

“Well, of course you are!! You got your good looks from your old man.” Max beamed at his little girl.

“Ok, whatever Dad. You know she was very easy to talk to and she has a cool job.” Liz uttered while drinking her hot chocolate.

“Really, what does she do?” Max looked at his daughter.

“She is a chemist who makes fragrance that aunt Isabel and Maria wear, isn’t that cool?” Liz asked excitedly

“Definitely.” Max replied.

“And she told me to tell Uncle Michael that it's cool to be curious about things.” Liz said.

“So what was her name?” Max asked Liz as he looked at the rink and laughed at the sight of Michael falling down on the ice.

“I called her Ms. Parker because you said that it is rude to call older people by their first names.” Liz answered and started to crack up at the sight of Uncle Michael’s fall.

Max suddenly stopped laughing and looked at Liz with a surprise look on his face, “Liz, what did you just say her name was?”

Liz replied back, “Dad, you are not getting deaf are you? Pay attention, I said her name was Ms. Parker.”

Part 15B

“Parker, Parker,” that name kept registering into his head, “Nah, it can’t be the same Parker, what are the chances of you two being in the same city? Max told himself.

“Liz honey, what was Ms. Parker’s first name?” Max asked his daughter anxiously.

“Oh, her name was…Liz Parker.” Liz replied and turned her attention to Michael again as he attempted to get up from his fall.

Max stopped breathing, “Her name was Liz Parker …it can’t be her. C’mon Evans, there are more than one Liz Parkers in this world. She can’t be my Liz Parker.” He thought to himself.

Max hadn’t seen Liz in almost twelve years; their friendship had suffered severely ever since the night of his accident and he confronted her for answers. He had pleaded but she didn’t give them. He went back the next day because she promised him they would talk, but it was too late, she left the previous night and that was the last time he had seen Liz Parker. A month later, she missed graduation and being valedictorian altogether due to her acceptance of the internship in Paris as Serena had told him.

“Another thing Evans, when did she become your Liz Parker? Max asked himself. “Where the hell did my Liz Parker come from?” He questioned himself again.

As Max’s mind was boggled with questions that needed answers; the whole group had approached to where Liz and Max were sitting and were taking their skates off as Kyle and Isabel tried to get Max’s attention.

“Max…MAX!!!” Kyle hollered. “Max, snap out of it.” Isabel cried out.

“He’s zoned out.” Kyle said to Isabel.

“Oh No, not again…I swear this is like the billionth time that he has done this, in the last week and half.” Liz shrugged as she looked at her father.

“Why?” Michael asked in curiosity.

“I have no idea but something to do with the attic.” Liz answered back.

“Attic?” Michael asked in a puzzled tone.

“Max!!! Max!!! Snap out of it.” Isabel said as she shook his shoulders.

“Huh? Iz, what are you doing?” Max asked as she saw his sister in front of him.

Max looked up and saw everyone was staring at him with a smile, “So Maxwell, penny for your thoughts.” Michael smirked.

“Just thinking… Ok, so are we ready to go home?” Max questioned the group.

“Oh hell yes, I need to soak my feet in hot water and salt, I think I have some serious blister.” Alex complained as he walked away.

“Max, is everything ok?” Michael asked as everybody began to walk away.

“Yes Michael, I am fine. Why the sudden interest?” Max asked.

“Just concern, Liz mentioned that you been spacing out for some reason. What’s going on Maxwell?” Michael asked sternly.

“Nothing is going on Michael. Liz is exaggerating things a little.” Max replied back but was interrupted by his daughter, “I am not exaggerating DAD. I caught you twice last week.” Liz yelled as she walked off, leaving Max and Michael trailing behind.

Everyone had walked their separate ways and as they reached the car, Max opened the door and was about to head in when he saw Liz waving to someone, ‘Liz, who are you waving to?” Max inquired.

“Oh, Ms. Parker.” Liz replied.

Max’s heart stopped beating for the second time that night and he quickly turned his head, looked across the street, and saw the female waving to her also, but he couldn’t see her face yet again. “She is not your Liz, get over it.” Max yelled at himself.

He kept staring at the female as she walked away and disappeared into a nearby car. “Dad, DAD!?!” Liz yelled from inside the car.

“What?” Max asked. “Are we going home or do you plan to stay here the whole night?” Liz smiled.

“WE are leaving.” Max said as he got into the car and drove away.

Later that night, everyone had left after they finished having dinner and decorating for Liz’s birthday. Liz was tucked in bed as Max locked the front door and hit the off switch for the lights and headed upstairs.

When he got into his room, he sat down on his bed, and lunged back as his head hit the soft white sheets. He began to think about the events of earlier, more specifically Liz meeting a woman named Ms. Parker.

He wondered if it was Liz, God he hadn’t seen her in almost 12 years since his last encounter with her, a month before graduation. He wondered what she was doing and how she was, and realized that he had missed Liz being in his life. He never admitted to anyone else but he had missed and never stopped thinking of her. There would be times when he would drift off and wander what she had done with her life.

He sat up again, pulled the drawer open on his night table, and pulled a picture out. As he touched the picture, he went back to the past to a memory that he wasn’t quite sure if it was real or his imagination …

“Come on Max, you have to get up!!” Liz yelled at his comatose state.

“Everyone needs you, Michael, Tess and … I … need you” Liz said in a whisper.

“Please wake up!! Just open your eyes, that’s all I want for my birthday.” Liz spoke as the tears ran freely.

As she bent her head and put it near his heart, she didn’t notice the eye movement, “I love you so much Max and I have no idea when and how that happened. I’m so confused and there is so much to tell you so please get up,” Liz pleaded with him.

“I… love …you… too.” Barely be heard, the raspy voice uttered.

“MAX!! ”Liz bolted her head up.

“L…I…. z.” As Max tried to regain some sort of conscious

“Max, shh don’t talk!” Liz exclaimed at him.

“Liz … “ Max tried to speak again as his head was throbbing with pain.

“Max, save your energy.” Liz said as she got up and opened the door and yelled, “He’s Up!!”

In an instant both Michael and Tess rushed past her and went to his side.

That was the last time Max saw Liz Parker at the hospital as she stood near the door and with tears streaming down her cheeks. Nothing was ever the same between them after that.

She never came back to visit him and when he was released, she wasn’t there at the apartment to greet him. The only thing he got from her was thru Michael, a brown teddy bear with the words [Best Friends 4 Ever] embedded into the bear stomach and a note.

Welcome Home. You gave us all quite a scare that night. Sorry I can’t be there with you but you are in my thoughts. I am back home and I need some time to work things through.
See u around when I get back
BF4E, Liz

When she got back, she came by once or twice but at times he felt that she avoided him for reasons unknown to him. It was also at the same time he realized that Michael and Liz hung out more and had become closer.

Max folded the note back up again, looked at the picture, and smiled as he ran his thumb across the picture of Liz.

Meanwhile across the city, Liz Parker shivered as she read her reports, wondering why, as the windows were closed and she had several blankets on top of her. Chills ran down her spines and goose bumps were felt all through out and the hair at the back of her neck stood up, she looked around wondering what had cause it, but she was bewildered. She felt a brush of static electricity on her arms and shivers all the way to her toes as if someone was gently stroking her. “Ok, I am losing my mind….” Liz said loudly to herself as she looked around and to her window that lead to a balcony. The only sound she could hear was the leaves rustling as the wind echoed thru the night.

Max had closed the drawer after putting Liz’s picture away and changed for bed and now, he tiptoed to Liz’s room and smiled as she was sprawled out on the bed. As he sat at the edge of the bed slowly, he looked at his daughter’s sleeping form and didn’t know what he would do if he didn’t have her.

She was his life and his purpose and he loved her beyond words, he turned his head slightly and noticed the picture of Tess on Liz’s night table. He smiled at her and instinctively touched his wedding ring that he still wore; he didn’t take it off yet and didn’t know if he ever would.

As he kept looking at Liz’s, something was on his feet, he looked down, and grinned as the brown teddy bear that Liz always slept with was lying on the floor, “Poor Mr.Yoda.” Max chuckled to himself.

It had been her favourite bear since it was given to her almost 8 years ago, she took it everywhere with her, even to this day, she couldn’t sleep until she had Mr. Yoda with her. He sighed as he placed the brown bear with the words [Best Friends 4 Ever] implanted into it from so long in her hands, tread softly across the room, and closed the door.

Max came back into his room, switched the lights off, and crawled under the covers; he looked up at the ceiling and sighed. He had one thought in his mind, his best friend and slowly closed his eyes and went to oblivion.

Meanwhile, she closed her reports and placed the pen on top of her dresser. As Liz Parker went to put the reports inside the drawer, her eyes darted at the picture lying inside and staring at her. “Max.” She whispered to herself. She had wondered all through out the ride home if she had met his daughter, she looked exactly liked him but what was he doing here? Would she see him? Did she want to see him? Did he want to see her? All these questions had plagued ever since she walked away from the little girl named Liz.

So am I forgiven for taking so long with this part? *big*

Part 16A

The arising sun shone warmly through the high clouds that were gathered within each other, the wind softly blew the still leaves surrounding the house while the birds chirped. As the night in Cahaba City transcended beauty with clear clouds and stars adoring the sky, the morning transcended calmness and peacefulness.

The sun peaked through the stained windows that occupied one of the bedrooms of the house, not a soul was stirring, but that would change in about 10 seconds, as the house would be jolted with the sound of an 8-year-old girl.

1 … 2… 3… RRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG, the alarm clock suddenly rang

In an instant, Winnie the Pooh blanket covers came off and she jumped up in the air and stood up on her double bed, “Happy Birthday To ME, Happy Birthday To Me, Happy Birthday To Elizabeth Anna Evans, Happy Birthday To Me.” Liz sang to herself as she clapped her hands and wore a huge grin on her face.

“Congratulations Liz, you are officially eight years old.” Liz quickly said to herself as she sat down on her bed.

She turned her head slightly and stared at the framed picture that occupied her black night table, “ I can’t wait to see you again, Mom!” She said as she got up from her bed and skipped all the way to her dad’s room.

Every year since she understood what the day was, she set her alarm at 8:22am on Nov 16, the exact time, and day she came into this world and lost her mother. Her ritual included singing to herself, going to wake her dad up, and then having breakfast with her aunts and uncles.

Later on the day, her and Max would go to her mother’s grave and lay flowers and she would talk up a storm as she told her what was happening in her life.

She always felt that her mother was around her, and plus she always loved her mother’s tapes that were filled with stories of herself, Dad and the whole gang. But she was excited especially this year as her mother told her last year, that the 8th-birthday tape was of importance and she couldn’t wait to find out.

When she got to her dad’s room, she opened the door slowly making sure that he wouldn’t wake up so she could surprise him, like she did every year. She closed the door and tiptoed to her dad’s large bed ever so quietly, climbing the bed until she was at the top and saw her father’s face.

His dark brown hair was ruffled and it was getting long as it fell on his forehead, “Note to Self Liz, tell Aunt Izzy that Dad needs a haircut.” She mumbled to herself.

His face was serene and the smirk on his face was a refreshing sight to see. “Hmmm…I wonder what he is dreaming about.” She wondered to herself.

As she kept looking at her dad, she realized how handsome he was, though he was 34 years old, he looked younger, and women everywhere were throwing themselves at him. Her mom would say “Your dad is the type of guy that would make women go weak on their knees and have butterflies.”

Liz also realized that her dad never did notice all the adoring fans he gained whenever and wherever they went, he would always listen and pay attention to her. For a momentary lapse, Liz decided not to surprise him but then her mischief eyes told a different story.

She went close to his face and near to his ear and screamed at the top of her lungs, “DADDD!?!?!.” Max quickly sprung up and looked everywhere to see where the fire was.

He rubbed his eyes and looked over to his daughter who gave the most innocent look ever, “Oh Good, you are up Dad.” She shyly said.

“It appears so.” Max chuckled as he began to tickle her. “Ok Dad, stop!! Dad … stop… please. I promise I will never do that again.” She said as she tried to breathe normally.

“You know you say that every year, and yet again you do same thing. I swear, I think you are trying to give your old man a heart attack here.” Max said to her.

“Dad, you are not old, you are just wiser.” Liz replied quickly as she sat cross-legged in front of her dad.

“You are good for my ego, you know.” Max smiled at his daughter. “I know.” Liz shrugged.

“Happy Birthday Princess.” Max said as he engulfed his daughter in a hug. “Thanks Daddy.” Liz whispered in his ear.

“You know, soon you won’t be my little girl anymore.” Max said as he pulled her away and looked at her face.

“I promise Dad, on scouts honour, that I will always be your princess and I won’t ever leave you.” Liz said as she held Max’s face in her hands.

Both father and daughter looked and smiled at each other before Liz began to chatter away about her birthday party. Max gazed at his daughter, tucked her hair behind her ear, and realized that time had really flown by, he wasn’t 26 years old anymore, and Liz wasn’t a baby anymore but becoming a young lady, his little princess.

He kept a semi-interest in Liz’s chatter as he wondered back into the memories of the past, he found himself doing this a lot especially the last week or so for reasons he had known clearly yet denying. He went through the flashes like glimpses of a movie in his mind, the joy, sadness, and happiness all rolled into one.

Liz looked up at her dad and stopped talking at once as she realized that he was in his world again, “Oh No, here we go again.” She thought to herself.

He was doing this a lot and whenever she caught him, he would shrug it off and change the topic, at first she thought he was thinking about Mom but something told her, it was much more. “DAD!! DAD!?!.” She yelled and shook his shoulders.

“Huh…What Princess?” Max quickly snapped out of his flashes and looked at his daughter who had a questioned look.

“What were you thinking about?” Liz asked.

“Just things, life, and you.” Max replied back as he lay down again.

“So is everyone coming to the party?” Max asked his daughter.

“Well, so far everyone is coming but I’m not sure.” Liz replied as she lay down beside her father,

“But Mirza, Gina, Kayla, Am and Kat are definitely coming.” She continued on. “Dad, can I ask you a question?” Liz asked.

“Anything.” Max replied back as he closed his eyes.

“Umm…Mirza and Gina has been teasing mercilessly, about…me and Raze.” Liz hesitantly spoke.

“What about you and Raze?” Max asked.

“That we like each other.” Liz said sheepishly.

“WHAT?!?” Max’s eyes popped open.

“Yup.” Liz softly replied back.

“Well, of course, you like each other, you are friends.” Max calmly replied back.

“No DAD, not in the friends way, the …OTHER way.” Liz rolled her eyes. Liz couldn’t believe she was talking to her Dad about this.

“Do YOU like him that way?” Max asked not really ready to hear the answer.

“OF COURSE NOT, I mean I think of Raze as a friend, he sticks up for me at school and calls me spoiled and Elizabeth, which I hate but I love him as a friend.” Liz exclaimed in defense.

Max breathed a sigh of relief at Liz’s answer, he wasn’t ready to deal with Liz liking someone, heck he couldn’t handle her being an eight year old yet. “Did you tell that to them, that you are friends?” Max asked.

“Yup, you know what Gina said, that girls and guys can’t really truly be friends.” Liz said in a huff.

“Well, you should tell her that they can, I mean look at me and Aunt Ria, Aunt Izzy and Uncle Michael and Kyle.” Max said.

“Exactly, but did she listen, OF COURSE NOT.” Liz spoke in another huff and sat up.

“Honey, she was teasing you, don’t let it bother you.” Max said as he kissed her forehead and got up from the bed and walked into his closest to change.

“Did you have any friends in school that were girls beside of course Aunt Maria.” Liz asked loudly.

“Umm...of course I did, I told you about Serena, the others and there was of course …Liz.” Max answered back from the closest.

As Liz heard the name for first time, she was curious, “Umm…Dad, who is Liz?”

“Oh, well, she was my best friend in college.” Max answered. “Damn Max, be careful of what you say or everyone is going to find out what you are thinking.” He scolded himself.

“How come I have never met her then?” Liz asked again.

“Well, I have no idea where she is.” Max shouted from deep within the closest.

“How come?” Liz asked again.

“Well, we lost in touch a long time ago.” Max replied back.

“Oh, why?” Liz began to get curious more.

“I don’t know.” Max solemnly said.

“What happened Dad?” Liz probed further.

“Well … give me a second, would you?” Max asked as he laughed at his daughter’s curiousity.

“AAH…CHOO.” Liz sneezed. “Are you getting a cold?” Max asked in a concern tone.

“No Dad, you know people do sneeze from time to time, lighten up dad.” Liz said looking exasperated, as she shook her head at her Dad’s protective nature.

“Where are the tissues, Dad?” Liz asked as she looked around for one to wipe her nose.

“Right drawer.” Max answered back.

Liz went to her right, opened the black drawer, and found the tissue box. As she was about to close the drawer, something caught her attention, she opened the drawer more fully, and what she came across shocked her.

Dedication - To those who kept this thread from being lost ...thank you for the BUMPS....

Part 16B

The front door of the Evan’s door clicked opened and in walked Isabel and Alex Whitman, “Do you think they’re up?” Alex asked as he walked into the kitchen with many packages in tow.

“Alex, this is Liz we’re talking about!!!” Isabel answered with a smirk.

“RIGHT, how could I forget? Is everyone on their way?” Alex asked as he took the big silver bowl to mix the batter in out of the cupboard.

“Yup, called Maria as I left the house, they were heading over and so is Kyle. Mom, Dad, Nana and everyone else will be coming in this afternoon.” Isabel replied as she cracked the eggs.

“Where did you put the tape?” Alex asked his wife.

“It’s still back at the house, I’ll pick it up when I go change.” Isabel answered back.

“You know, she is going to pester you the whole day for it, remember what happened last year….

She tiptoed around the hallway making sure not to attract any attention, she knew everyone was downstairs and didn’t want anyone to know!!

As she rounded the corner, she smiled to herself, “Good job Liz, very proud of you.” She said to herself as the room was only a few feet away now, and then she would be in and would get her birthday present.

As she attempted to open the door, she almost fell as she heard her name!!

“Elizabeth Anna Evans, what in the world are you doing?”

She turned expecting to see her aunt but instead she saw her uncle, Alex.

“Uncle Alex, you scared me, I thought you were Aunt Isabel!!” She breathed in relief.

“What are you doing?” Alex sternly asked the seven year old.

“Nothing.” Replied Liz, innocently.

“Right, I believe you. You wouldn’t be trying to get those tapes before your birthday again?” Alex asked as he crossed his arms.

“NO!! Of course not!!” Liz answered back.

“Well, in any case they are not there. She moved them.” Alex stated.

“WHAT!! WHERE? WHY?” Liz yelled.

“Well, she knew you would do the same thing this year so she moved them!!” Alex stated again.

“Unbelievable!! I mean they are my tapes, Uncle Alex.” Liz rolled her eyes, looking infuriated.

“Talk to your Aunt Isabel or Uncle Michael.” Alex countered back.

“Ah, this is where the two of you are. I have been searching everywhere for you two.” Raze answered as he finally found Liz and Uncle Alex.

“Well, here we are.” Liz said sarcastically as she stalked away looking defeated.

“OK, what’s wrong with her?” Raze asked in concern.

“She found out that Isabel had moved the tapes, She’s a little ticked.” Alex responded.

“She wouldn’t talk to me the whole day until I finally gave her the tape.” Isabel said as she came back to the present.

“Yup, one thing I can say is that she’s stubborn like a mule.” Alex chipped in.

“I’m going to see what’s keeping the father and daughter team” Isabel said as she headed toward the stairs.

“Probably plotting on how to drive you crazy…” Alex grinned.

She couldn’t believe her eyes as she kept looking at the picture of the woman clutched in her hands. “Liz, did you the find tissues?” asked Max who was still in the closest.

“Ummm…yeah Dad.” Liz replied back as she glanced into the closest making sure her dad was still in there.

The picture was of her dad and a woman who looked like the woman she met yesterday at Mrs. Rossini’s.

She was confused definitely, “How did Dad know Ms. Parker?” she wondered to herself.

“Why does Dad have a picture of her in HIS drawer?” She kept thinking to herself until something struck her.

“WAIT A MINUTE, Dad just said that his best friend from college was a girl named Liz, and Ms. Parker name is also Liz. Hmm… could they be the same people??” She thought to herself.

“What to do? C’mon Liz think, you’re smart, figure out a way to find out. Hmm…NEED to talk to Aunt Isabel and Aunt Maria, maybe they know something? Ok, that’s the plan, talk to them or even Uncle Michael. GOOD PLAN LIZ, very proud of you.” Liz congratulated herself.

She heard footsteps coming out of the closest and quickly placed back the picture and closed the drawer and as she did, the bedroom door flung open, “I wonder whose birthday today is.” The voice said.

Liz looked up and screamed, “Aunt Izzzzy.”

“Happy Birthday My Precious.” Isabel said as she took the little girl in her arms.

“Thanks Aunt Izzy, love you.” Liz replied.

“Back at you.” Isabel replied instantly.

“Aunt Izzy, I need to talk to you later about something.” Liz whispered.

“Is everything ok?” Isabel asked in concern.

“Yeah, it’s just I found something and I’m not sure of what to make of it.” Liz whispered back.

“Ok, why are YOU whispering?” Isabel asked in curiosity.

“Because I don’t want Dad to know.” Liz again whispered.

“You don’t want Dad to know what?” Max asked as he stood at the doorway of the closest.

“Oh Hey Max!” Isabel exclaimed.

“Isabel” Max acknowledged his sister but he intently looked at his daughter and knew something was up.

“So what is it?” Max looked at Liz. “Nothing Dad, just girl talk, right Aunt Isabel?” Liz stated back.

“Yup, just old-fashioned girl talk.” Isabel responded back taking her cue from Liz.

“How about some breakfast huh, Uncle Alex is making your favourites?” Isabel asked.

“Chocolate chips waffles…OH. Thank you!!” Liz exclaimed as she pulled her in for another hug and then dashed downstairs to Alex.

“Mention food to her and she is gone in an instant.” Max spoke up as he walked back to the bed.

“Well, she does have your appetite.” Isabel joked as she sat at the corner of the bed.

“So what was she whispering about?” Max asked.

“Sorry, I’m sworn to secrecy. If you want to know, ask yourself.” Isabel answered back.

“Thanks Isabel for being there for her.” Max spoke with sincerity.

“Come on Max, none of that, I love her like my own. I would do anything for her.” Isabel replied back.

“I am lucky to have you as my sister.” Max smiled.

“That what I have been telling since we were kids.” Isabel joked again.

“Eight years today, Isabel.” Max looked at her.

“Time flies huh?” Isabel answered back.

“Trust me, there were times I didn’t think I would get here.” Max spoke.

“Well here you are, but from what Liz tells me, you have been spacing out a lot this past week.” Isabel looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

“Does my daughter tell you everything?” Max spoke.

“Of course, so what’s that all about?” Isabel asked inquisitively.

“Nothing, it’s just…you know what, it’s absolutely about nothing.” Max answered.

“Hmm…Nothing huh. Ok, I will leave that for now.” Isabel replied as she got up.

“You coming?” Isabel asked as she stood at the doorway.

“Give me five minutes.” Max replied.

As Isabel closed the door shut, Max laid back on the bed with his hands behind his head, intently staring the ceiling and thinking back on his life. He was content with his life and for the last seven years it was filled with laughter and joy, he had his daughter, his friends, and his career. He was moving on with his life, he enjoyed being a single dad, going to the soccer games and being the soccer dad.

Liz was sort of a sport fanatic, all thanks to Michael who at an early age made Liz watch hockey games, baseball and soccer and she was hooked. It was a quite a trip whenever all of them went to see a hockey game with Michael, Raze and Liz as the main headliners.

His daughter was the light of his life and he often wondered how and why Tess wanted to name her Elizabeth. It surprised him when he read her letter so long ago that asked their daughter be named Elizabeth Anna Evans. They had agreed on a name several months before Tess gave birth, she insisted it was going to be a girl and they both decided on Katrina Anna Evans but the sudden change from Tess had been a surprised. “Liz Parker.” He said loudly as his memories drifted further into the past and landed onto Liz’s namesake, Elizabeth Claudia Parker.

Roswriters for FSMA is an informal collective of fan fiction authors banding together to help find a cure for FSMA. On May 7, 2002, we are launching an auction on e-bay, and approximately 35-40 original fan fiction stories will be gathered in eight separate tote bags
being auctioned off individually. You won't want to miss the opportunity to bid on these hand-painted totes, each with a different specialty theme, such as Dreamer Tote, UC Couple Tote, NC-17 Tote, just to name a few.

Participating authors will be LivE, Breathless, Kath7, Linda, Ash (Ash_a_Leigh), Tasyfa, RosDeidre, EmilyluvsRoswell, Majesty, BennieBA, Cookie, ShellSueD, Carol, Watcher Tara, and many others.

As a special bonus, three Dreamer Totes will also contain CDs of more than 800 of bigspam's original photos, including images from one of Roswell's last days on location, while filming the finale.

One very unique Dreamer tote will also contain a gorgeous, hand- designed "Max Quilt." This lovely work of art has been crafted by Cookieman789 (Stacey), and will be a great way to snuggle up with the Dream Guy himself.

Further, a special tote will be auctioned at the upcoming Philly Roswellian gathering on May 10th. Tote contents for this event:

Bound Compilation of these short stories: Majesty's PULSE, EmilyluvsRoswell's RIPPLE EFFECT, Carol's HOLIDAY DREAMER SERIES,
Tasyfa's THE FORGING OF A LIFEBOND (short version), Ash's FLOOD and

Additionally, there will be one of bigspam's rare picture CD's, featuring some 800 original photos from Roswell on location included in this Philly tote.

Here's a reminder of the high quality images Big Spam has shared with fans in the past:

Hello Guys....

It's Micha and I have some IMPORTANT NEWS to talk about regarding the future of the fic. Before I say nothing, I just want to say how much I love all of you for loving/liking this fic especially those who have been with it since the beginning.

Ok, So I am leaving on Vacation for four months due to a wedding (not mine) which means I won't have time that much time to work on it or have time to post it frequently. But here is the important news, I have decided after loads of searching for the answer that I am going to revamp this fic. Before anybody starts throwing things at me...the plot, characters and basic idea will still be the SAME. The thing that is revamping is the execution of the plot, meaning dialogue is going to be cut, added in and the flow of the fic moving a little faster. I know most of you have noticed that the fic is not moving as far as it could be. The reason for this decision was because I was unhappy with the parts that I already wrote, it sounded to blah and if I kept on going, the fic would be dragging instead of standing tall.

I hope that this doesn't disappoint anyone so much and I will be sorry if I lose many readers but in the end, I needed to grow as a writer and this is the best decision.

So when I come back, I am coming back with a much improved From Up Above and I hope most of you will come back.

Have a great summer and enjoy the finale of Roswell and thank you for your constant fb, bumps and encouragement.

Mucho Hugs and Love To all

First of all, thanks to all who have bumped this fic along! Mucho love to those! I have gotten several b-mails wondering where the heck the update/re-written parts are. I have to say that I am sorry for promising to post and then not doing so, I do apologize for that! Honestly, I haven't had time with taking 6 classes per term in university and working almost full-time.

Most parts are written, I just haven't had time to go and tweak at some things that I wanted so that's the delay! So don't hold too much hope but maybe just maybe in the second week of the new year, there might be a new part! But one thing for sure is that, I will finish this fic, before the lifetime is over!

Thank You
