Title: You Have No Idea
Author: RoswellChic4ever

Rating: Um.... well lets just say PG - 13 at this moment in time.
Disclaimer: If I owned it, would it be off the air?
Summary: Well lets say it goes up to the end of season 2, becuase I really just wasn't liking what Jason Katims did with M/L in season 3! It's basically 17 or 18 years into the future. A look at the lives of our favorite characters. It starts out pretty screwed up, but I'll fix it don't worry! Also only M/L are in it at the begininning but I'll slowly include the other characters and introduce new ones.
Author's Note: PLEASE LEAVE ME FEEDBACK! If I don't get any, I assume no one is reading this and I won't write!

Prologue

The Evan’s household was never quiet, not with 5 kids running around the house. There was David Michael, 18 years old and heading off to college. He was actually Max and Tess’s son. She sent him to Max before she was killed by Khivar. Then came the twins Hayden and Haley, 17 and about to be seniors. And you couldn’t forget 15 year old Christian. He was about to be a freshman. And then of course there was the baby, Kelsey. She was 5 going on 20.
Yeah, there was never a dull moment around the Evan’s house. Of course it had nothing to do with the fact that 6 out of the 7 members had alien abilities. (David Michael was completely human due to the fact of genetics and ressesive traits.) Most of the problems were normal family things. Breaking up with boyfriends or girlfriends, sibling rivalry, what to cook for dinner, you know the usual things.
Of course they had their weird problems as well. Like when Christian went through a “special” phase and couldn’t help blowing things up with his mind when he was angry. Or the time Haley and Hayden decided to play a practical joke on someone and used their alien powers.
Max and Liz had done a pretty good job of keeping their lives normal. They lived in L.A. by the beach and in a big house. They had done pretty well for themselves. They had a good amount of money… well over a million saved for the kids. Max was a pediatrician and Liz was a molecular biologist.
They looked like the perfect family. They acted like the perfect family. But they had struggles all their own. You think you know, but you have no idea.

Part 1

Liz pounded on the bathroom door. “Haley you are going to be late for school! Hurry up!”
“I’m coming as fast as I can. Leave me alone!” she screamed back.
Liz sighed at the normal ritual of the morning. Haley would spend hours in the bathroom doing God knows what. Liz never wanted to know. Liz and her oldest daughter had a rocky relationship. Haley was moody and distant from everyone except a few of her friends. She was head cheerleader and popular but was an ice queen just like Isabel had been. She closed people off and built walls around herself not trusting anyone. It killed Liz to see her daughter they way she was. She was even cut off from her twin brother Hayden. They had been so close until they hit high school. Holly cared about popularity and boys and Hayden cared about…well not much.
“Haley get your ass down here or we are leaving without you! Geez, what the hell are you doing?” Hayden yelled at his sister.
Liz shook her head and walked into her room hearing her son use such language around the younger kids. Liz didn’t like it. But she didn’t have much control over her son. He pretty much did what he wanted. The only person that had ever been able to get through to him was Michael, and now that he was messed up, no one could touch Hayden.
Haley ran down the stairs and grabbed her backpack and the kids left for school leaving Liz and Kelsey alone. Liz would drop her off at kindergarten in 20 minutes and then go to work. Then pick Kelsey up on her lunch break and drop her off and daycare and then pick her up at 5 when she got off work. Then Haley would have cheerleading practice until 6 and Christian would have soccer practice till 6. Haley and him would come home and Hayden would stumble in around 11. Probably drunk and then he’d crash in his bed and get up the next day like nothing had happened. Max left around 6 A.M. and would come home at 7P.M, but he’d be on call all the time and sometimes have to leave at unknown hours of the night.
Liz had thanked God for David Michael. He kept the family in line, but he moved out to Boston University to study there. Which basically meant Liz was on her own. Max was always gone and the kids were just screwed up. This wasn’t how Liz had pictured her perfect life and most of the time she just wanted to leave Max and move back to Roswell to be with her parents. But she told her parents her and Max would make it no matter if they were 18 when she got pregnant with the twins. She wouldn’t let her parents win.

* * *

Haley smiled at her “friends” as they talked about shopping and what they were doing after the football game on Friday. She was an extremely fake, shallow, and high maintenance girl, but it was better then being hurt. If no one could get to her, no one could hurt her. That was her philosophy.
The reason that Haley demanded walls was that she had been hurt pretty bad by someone she trusted very well. When Haley was a freshman she fell hard for a good friend of hers named Justin. He had always liked her and she finally decided maybe she liked him too. But she fell in love with him and became jealous when other girls talked to him, she was insecure and always afraid he’d leave her. And he did. Justin fell out of love with Haley as fast as she had fallen in love with him. It broke her heart into a million pieces. But that wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was when one of her best friends started dating him behind her back. Holly couldn’t handle it anymore and completely shut out her friend and Justin.
Justin and Haley had been such close friends even after their breakup that it tore Haley apart to be without him. But that’s when she put on the ice queen act. She knew she hurt Justin badly when she pushed him out of her life. He fought for her. But the pain was too much for her. So she continued on pretending she was fine on the outside, but on the inside, she was a wreck.
“Oh my God Haley, Marc is so hot, I can’t believe you’re dating him.” Aura said snapping Haley out of her thoughts. Aura was a junior cheerleader and kinda just hung around. Haley couldn’t stand her.
“Well yeah he is pretty cute.” Haley smiled to herself thinking of her boyfriend. They had been together for 3 months and Haley was pretty sure it was going great. She was happy when she was with him. And it had been a long time since Haley had been happy.

Author's Note: Thanks for the feedback, it's been like an hour, but I have another part already! Enjoy!

Part 2

Max walked in to the house and into the kitchen to find his wife Liz cooking dinner. "How was work today Liz?"

"You know the usual." She said not turning around to look at her husband.

"Where are the kids?"

"Christian is in his room doing homework. Haley is out with Marc and should be home any minute. Kelsey is watching TV and Hayden is God knows where with his friends."

Max sighed. "Maybe I could have a talk with Hayden."

"Yeah, maybe you could be a parent once in awhile instead of spending time at the office." Liz said strangly calm, but turning around to look at Max.

"Liz, I'm sorry, I'm busy. I'm trying to provide for my family." His voice got louder.

"Provide what? Max we have everything we could ever want when it comes to material possesions. What are children need is not any more money."

"Don't blame me because you can't handle our kids."

"Oh, I'm sorry Max!" Liz yelled. "I forgot that you've been the perfect father always running them everywhere and doing their laundry and making them supper. I forgot you were the one that got them up in the morning and in bed at night. I'm sorry I can't handle our son who gets drunk and high every night and our daughter who hasn't said 10 words to me in almost a year." Liz stopped for a minute to breathe then added quietly. "What happened to the Max I fell in love with?"

* * *

Christian shut his door when he heard his mother start yelling. *Dad's home.* he thought to himself.

Christian had always been a good kid. He always got straight A's and was a star soccer player. He helped his mother when he could because he knew she got stressed. His dad wasn't around much and it had torn the family apart.

Christian looked at a potrait of his whole family sitting on his dresser. They all looked so happy and perfect. He knew they weren't. They had been though. It wasn't until 3 years ago everything started getting screwed up. 3 fateful years ago when the worst thing possible could happen to a family.

::Sorry it's kinda short! I hope to get more up tonight. It just depends on if the inspiration flows into me!::

Part 3

Haley and Marc sat quietly in his car on the way home. Not an awkward silence, but a nice silence. Haley smiled at herself and looked at Marc.

“What?” He asked laughing at her.

“Nothing.” She said looking down at her feet, semi embarassed.

“Can I ask you something?” Marc said kind of quietly.

Haley was kind of surprised. “Sure.”

“Don’t take this the wrong way okay.” He said.

Haley got kind of scared. Was he breaking up with her? “Okay.”

“When we are together and it’s just the two of us, you seem so happy. But when I see you around other people, you seem… well distant and kind of closed off. I know it’s not any of my business, but I’m kind of worried about you.”

Haley sighed and looked at her hands in her lap not sure what to say.

“Are you okay?” Marc asked.

Haley was on the verge of tears, but she tried to hold them in knowing that crying would go against everything she stood for. She never let anyone see her cry. EVER. “I’m fine” she said and put on her best smile.

“I shouldn’t have brought it up, I’m sorry let’s just forget it.”

The rest of the ride was awkward silence.

* * *

Hayden walked in the door around 10, relatively early for him. He walked into the living room about to go to the steps when he saw his father sitting on the couch.

“Hayden, I want to talk to you?” Max said.

Hayden rolled his eyes. “Gee, I didn’t think you knew I still lived here. You haven’t spoken to me in almost 2 months. What makes you think I want to speak to you now?”

“Well you know what. It doesn’t matter if you want to talk to me, but you are sure as hell going to listen to me. Because whether you want to believe it or not, I’m your father and you will respect me.”

Hayden sat down, slightly surprised by his father’s remark. “What do you want to say?”

“You will be home every weeknight by 7 to have dinner with the family. You won’t get drunk or high anymore and then come to this house. Not only will you respect me but you will respect your mother as well and treat everyone in this house like they deserve.”

Hayden looked Max straight in the eyes. “You haven’t been a father in 3 years. Ever since the accident you’ve been gone all the time working and who knows maybe even cheating on mom. You’re youngest daughter is growing up without a father and in a really screwed up family. So don’t talk to me about treating people how they deserve.”

Max was in shock. “First of all, I would never ever cheat on your mother. So just get that out of your mind right now. Second, don’t take my mistakes out on your mom. She tries her best to do what she can for all of you. And as I said before, you will not drink or do drugs or smoke anymore.”

“Fine.” Hayden said and went to his room.

* * *

Max walked into his room and looked at Liz sleeping on the bed. He wanted so much for things to go back to the way they had been. He loved her more than anything, he always would. Apart of him thought she’d always know that. But she didn’t know that anymore. Liz was unhappy and he knew it, and he knew he was to blame. He hadn’t been there for her when she had needed him. They went through an awful experience, but in his own pain he had abandoned her.

Max climbed into bed and kissed Liz on the cheek. “I love you.” He said quietly.

Liz turned to look at him. “I know, but I don’t know if that’s enough anymore.”

::Hmm.. what's going to happen to Max and Liz? And what is so horrible that happened? Find out soon!::

Here it is! This part is really short and all about Haley, but the end of this part is very important in the development of the characters.

Part 4

Haley cheered loudly at the football game, cheering on Marc more than any of the other team members. Haley loved being head cheerleader. It gave her a sense of pride. Cheering was the only other thing besides being with Marc that made her happy.

Haley looked and saw that half – time was coming up and she got ready to go on a break and get some water before starting the second half of the game. She left the field and went to the snack stand with her best friend Stephanie.

The idly chatted about the game and Marc, and what Haley was doing after the game. Stephanie was going out with her boyfriend James and asked Haley to come along. She declined saying she wanted to be with Marc alone.

Just as Haley got to the front of the line someone ran into her. “Excuse me!” She yelled, ice queen act on.

“Sorry.” The boy answered and Haley turned around.

“Haley?” He asked.

She turned around and looked Justin straight in the eyes. “Do you need something?”

“I was wondering if we could talk?”

Haley just stood there for a moment, not really knowing that to say to her ex – boyfriend and ex – best friend. “I really don’t think we have anything to say to each other.” And she turned around to talk to Stephanie again, trying to forget the boy behind her, but he wouldn’t let her.

“Haley, please. It’s been 2 years. Can we talk?” He begged.

This time Stephanie turned around. “I believe she said, no.”

“Fine.” Haley said.

Stephanie looked at her in shock. “What are you doing?”

“I don’t know.”

* * *

Haley and Justin went to a bench to talk after the game to talk. Marc had to shower and clean up and said he’d take awhile. She told him she had something to do and would meet him at his house when she was done.

“Talk.” She said rudely when they were finally sitting.

“Look, I just wanted to say that, I’m sorry. We were once best friends, we told each other everything and I know I hurt you really badly and I’m sorry. You have to know I never meant to hurt you.”

“And it took you two years to decide to tell me this. Why now?”

“Well you kind of did tell me to never speak to you again. Look, we are graduating in 9 months. We’re going to be off to college and may never see each other again. It’s just, seeing you so closed up and shut out, it kills me. What happened to the Haley that was always happy and always saw the best in people? What happened to the Haley that would call me up to tell me stupid things and we’d laugh on the phone till 3 in the morning. What happened to her?”

Haley didn’t say anything for what seemed like forever. Finally she responded. “She died, and you helped kill her.”

With that Haley left and ran to her car and drove to Marc’s. When he answered the door she had a tear stained face and he led her to his room when he held her while she cried.

::In the next part we'll find out what happened that broke this family apart.::

I can't post a new part right now, because I have to go to work, but I plan on posting it tonight. But I have a question for everyone:

The end is a long way off, but would you rather see Haley with Justin or Marc in the end? Or do you need to know more about each character before you decide?

Also I know I've been lacking M/L and the rest of the characters, I'm sorry. Don't worry though it's to come, I'm trying to set everything up.

Thanks for the feedback!

Part 5

~* All the glass, all the blood. Her head hurt horribly and she knew that something wasn’t right. Hayden and Michael were laying next to her, unconscious. Haley was alone and she knew it. She screamed loudly. “HELP.” *~

“HELP!” She screamed and she awoke with a start lying next to Marc. She looked at the clock. “Shit!” It was 3:00 in the morning. Her curfew was 1:00.

Haley grabbed her cell phone and keys and quietly left, not wanting to wake Marc. She got in the car and drove home, trying not to think about the awful dream she had just had.

* * *

Hayden laid in his bed and stared at the ceiling. He couldn’t sleep. He knew his sister wasn’t home yet. They had adjoining rooms but the doors were always locked between them. Hayden had been awoken by a strange feeling, one he hadn’t had since the accident. It was fear. But it wasn’t his. It was the fear felt by his twin.

Hayden and Haley had a bad relationship. After the accident both of them dealt with it in their own way and Hayden turned to drugs while Haley turned to shutting the world out. He knew his sister had many problems since the accident. And then when Justin had broken up with her, they got worse. For awhile she didn’t eat and when she did eat she threw it up. He would still hear her throwing up once in awhile.

He was worried about her, as much as he hated to admit it. She was his twin sister and they had been through a lot together.

~* FLASHBACK *~

Hayden and Haley and Whitney were all sitting in the car. Michael was driving them to the airport so they could go back to L.A. after they had visited Roswell for 2 weeks. Hayden and Haley were 14 and their little sister Whitney was 10. Michael and Hayden were in the front, and Haley and Whitney were in the back.

It was dark and rainy, but they were having fun listening to music and talking. Michael never saw the on – coming car at the stop sign. It hit them on the passenger side, the side Whitney was sitting on. Haley and Whitney had fought earlier over the seat. No one really remembered. Something stupid. Haley ended up winning and sitting behind Michael and Whitney got stuck sitting behind Hayden.

The driver of the other car was a drunk teenage boy. He killed his girlfriend in the accident. He also killed a 10 year old little girl. And injured three other people. He though, had only some bumps and bruises.

~* END FLASHBACK *~

Haley snuck in quietly hoping not to wake anyone. She got into her room and sat in her bed and broke down into tears.

Hayden heard her and used his alienness to unlock the door and go into the room.

“Haley?” He asked quietly. “Are you ok?”

“I’m fine.” She said rudely.

Hayden sighed. “No, you aren’t. Haley, you have to get over this. It’s been three years.”

“Should I just forget her Hayden? Is that what you did?”

“I didn’t forget her, but I know she wouldn’t want us to be upset over this. It was no one’s fault. Accidents happen.”

“It should have been me.”

* * *

Liz awoke to the phone ringing at around 6 A.M. “Hello?” She said groggily.

“Hey babe!” Maria said into the phone. “How are you?”

“You know Maria, I’m fine.”

“Well, I just wanted to call and say that Me, Michael, Isabel, Jesse, and the kids are gonna come and visit next week. The kids are off for some teacher thing, I don’t really know what it is, but we were wondering if that was a problem.” She said excitedly.

Liz smiled at her best friend. “No Maria, that would be great.”

::Tell me what you think! Also, who should Haley end up?::

Part 6

David Michael was determined to get his family back together the way they belonged. He knew that the death of his sister Whitney had been a tragic event that had seperated them all, but it was time that things went back to normal.

He had loved Whitney. They had been close even if Whitney was alot younger than him, but he knew his little sister wouldn't want to see her mom and dad and brother and sisters in so much pain.

David Michael had coped with the event in the best way he could. He showed his emotions and then eventually the pain lessened. He went to support groups and learned to move on. That was all he could do.

The rest of his family though had repressed the event. The only ones not affected were Kelsey and Christian. Kelsey because she was too young to understand and Christian because he had been only 12 and he reached out to his older brother who helped him through it.

David Michael hoped that the visit from his family and mom's best friend would help, but he also thought it might make it worse.

* * *

"Michael Guerin! Why do you have to be such an asshole!" Maria yelled.

"I don't want to go!"

"Well that's just too damn bad you are going."

"I don't want to go see my best friend and remember the fact I wrecked his family!"

"Michael, get over it! It was 3 years ago and it wasn't your fault. I know you feel bad, I know, but you have to go on with life, with our life."

Michael stood looking at his wife. He had been torn up by the fact that he was driving and killed his best friend's daughter. He knew that it wasn't his fault, but how could he go on living, when a little girl had died?

* * *

Hayden was lying on his bed reading a magazine when he heard the doorbell. He shot up and ran downstairs to see who it was.

"David Michael!" He heard his mother say with delight. "What on Earth are you doing home? This is such a pleasant suprise!"

"Hi mom." He said and hugged her.

"Hey." Hayden said casually. "What's up?"

"Nothing, where's the rest of my family?" David Michael asked.

"Well, your dad is at the office, Haley is out with Marc, Christian is at soccer practice, and Kelsey is out in the backyard." Liz said.

"Cool, what's for dinner?"

"I'm not sure, Maria, Michael, Jesse, Isabel and the kids will be here tomorrow, so maybe tonight we'll just get pizza."

"Sounds good to me!" Hayden said and turned to go back up to his room.

"Hey Hayden, you wanna do something?" David asked him.

"Like what?"

"I dunno, let's just go for a drive."

"Umm, ok." Hayden agreed and the boys left.

Part 7

Hayden and David Michael drove around for a long time, just talking about things. David finally brought up the topic of the family.

"How's mom and dad doing?" He asked.

"You mean when dad's home? Well usually they are fighting or not talking to each other." Hayden said.

David Michael sighed. "What happened to them? They used to be so in love it was sickening, and then after the accident they just... seperated."

"Yeah, we all did."

"How's Haley?"

"I wouldn't know. No one does. She doesn't talk to anyone and when she does she's just a bitch. The only person she's nice to is Marc and of course Stephanie."

"But at least physically she's ok." David Michael said.

"Except for the fact of her not eating, or throwing it all up."

"Do mom and dad know about that?" David asked suprised by his brother's comment.

"Who knows what dad knows. He's at the office all the damn time and mom, well, she knows alot more than she lets on, of that I'm sure."

"She always was smart."

* * *

"What was up the other night when you came to my house crying?" Marc asked Haley as they sat down to dinner.

"Umm... I don't know." She said.

"Well, it must have been something, you were pretty upset."

"I know, I'm sorry."

He looked at her in a funny way. "Sorry for what? For getting upset about something? It's not a big deal."

"Yes it is. It is a big deal. I don't get upset." She said sternly.

"Ok, sorry. Just forget it."

It wasn't that Marc didn't like Haley, because he did, he liked her alot, but she had a lot of secrets and it bothered him alot. He knew that she had a hard time dealing with the death of her sister, and then he knew something had happened between her and that Justin kid, because he had always seen them together and then one day she was mean and rude to him.

Marc knew that Haley liked him, but Marc didn't think Haley was ready for the kind of relationship he was ready for. She had alot of scars and he knew it.

"Haley, I think we should break up."

"What?!" Haley asked shocked. "I thought things were going really good. I thought you liked me."

"I do like you, I like you alot, but you are so cut off from the rest of the world. You won't talk to anyone about what's bothering you, and I'm sorry, but it bothers me alot that you can't talk to me. I think we need a break."

Haley couldn't speak. Her mind was numb and she just sat there.

"Haley, I'm so sorry, I didn't want to hurt you, and I want to be with you, but I think you need some time to decide what you want."

Haley got up and walked to the bathroom pulling out her cell phone. She called the first person she could think of.

"Justin? Can you come get me?"

Part 8

"Do you want to talk about it?" Justin asked Haley in the car.

"Not yet." She said just staring out the window.

"Ok."

"Justin?"

"Yeah?"

"What happened to us?" She asked quietly.

"You got too good for me."

"No, I mean before, we were so happy, and then you decided you liked Sarah more than me and..."

Justin stopped her. "I didn't like her more, you were just so insecure somtimes it drove me nuts, like nothing I would ever do for you would be good enough. That no matter how much I loved you, you'd still doubt me. I couldn't go on like that, I felt unappreciated. And then you're sister died and you were all the more distant."

Haley sighed. "Can I tell you something that I've only told Hayden?"

"Of course."

"I feel so guilty. Like it's my fault. Me and Whit faught over the seat that she was sitting in. I didn't want it, no particular reason we were just being stupid, but I didn't want to sit behind Hayden. So I made her sit there and she complained and whined, and I still made her sit there. It should have been me that died!" She said and burst into tears.

Justin pulled the car over and turned towards Haley. "Haley, you can not think that. What happened was an accident and the fault of the drunk driver who killed your sister and his girlfriend. It was not your fault."

Haley leaned over into Justin and he hugged her, they pulled away and then something in Haley snapped and she kissed Justin long and hard.

* * *

Hayden and David Michael finished their drive and headed home. When they got there they heard alot of screaming from their father, and they bolted up the steps, but close enough they could still listen. They found already in their spot, Christian holding Kelsey. The two boys sat down. Shortly later Haley ran up the steps looking like a mess. She sat down and the 5 kids listened as their family hit rock bottom.

* * *

Max slammed the door and threw his stuff on the floor not even knowing where it went.

"Liz!" He yelled. He found her in the kitchen. "What the hell is the meaning of this?" He said throwing a packet of papers on the table.

Liz didn't know what to say.

"Liz, answer me right now. Why are you sending me divorce papers?"

Part 9

Maria, Michael, Isabel, Jesse and the kids stepped off the airplane and into LAX. Maria and Michael kept their 4 kids round up including, 16 year old Lindsey, 12 year old Seth, 8 year old Elijah and 6 year old Allysa. Isabel and Jesse had 3 kids. 17 year old Alex, 14 year old Leah, and 11 year old Josh.

They had arrived a day early, and decided to get a cab and surprise Max and Liz with their early arrival.

* * *

“Max, let’s not talk about this right now.” Liz said calmly.

That made Max even more mad. “The hell we won’t talk about it now! What is this?”

“Max the kids are upstairs.”

“I don’t care.”

“God Max, can’t you see how unhappy I am? I have a husband who won’t even come home except to eat dinner and sleep. My oldest daughter won’t even speak to me, my other son pretends I’m not there. Then there’s of course our daughter who died. I had to cope with that by myself because you were God knows where all the damn time. The one time I needed you and you were no where. David Michael who was actually helping me around here, got lucky and went all the way to Boston. Funny how the one person in this family to help me no matter what isn’t even my real son, and is the son of you and a woman that hated me with a passion. I love everyone in this family including you, but I can’t live like this anymore Max, I just can’t do it. You take care of 5 kids all by yourself and tell me how you like it.”

Max was speechless. He knew things had been bad, but he didn’t know it was that bad. “Liz, I… you can’t leave me, I love you.”

“Do you really Max? Or am I just your comfort zone? We’ve been together so long, it’s hard to tell sometimes.”

“Are you saying you don’t love me?”

A single tear slid down the side of Liz’s cheek. “I don’t know anymore Max, I just don’t know.”

Max and Liz stood in the kitchen in silence. While upstairs the kids left the steps and headed into their rooms, except Haley, who went into the bathroom.

David Michael saw this and stood outside the door. He heard her crying and then he heard her throw up, he opened the door to find his little sister with her finger down her throat.

“Haley!”

“Get out!” She screamed.

David shut the door behind him and went to his sister. “What the hell is wrong with you? Do you know how much danger you are in by doing this?”

Haley sobbed. “Like it matters. Everything is so damn screwed up, I can’t take it anymore.”

“Haley, I know that things with Mom and Dad are… “

She cut him off. “It’s not Mom and Dad.”

“Then what is it?”

“Marc and I broke up.” She said and started crying again.

David Michael hugged his sister. “Haley, I’m sorry.”

“And then, I called Justin to have him come get me and… “

“And?”

“Well, I kissed him and then one thing lead to another and…”

“Oh God Haley, when was this?”

“Like before I got home in his car.”

“So you had sex with him?”

“Yeah.”

* * *

Liz heard the doorbell ring and left the awkward silence in the kitchen to answer it.

“Liz!” Maria screamed and hugged her best friend.

“Maria, what a surprise!”

::Tell me what you think! Hmmm... what's gonna happen to Max and Liz now that the gang is back! And what is gonna happen with Haley and Justin and Marc.... Hmmm... It will all come out soon!::

Part 10

Everyone was gathered in the living room talking about how things had been.

"So David Michael how is school?" Isabel asked.

"It's good, Boston is pretty cold in the winter, but I like it there."

Isabel smiled. "Good."

"Well, hey what is there to do for fun here, because it has to be better than Roswell!" Alex said.

"Well there's lots of thing, what do you want to do?" Haley asked.

"Let's go swimming in the pool! It's really warm out, even if it is 9 P.M." Lindsey said excitedly.

"Ok." Hayden said and he, Haley, Lindsey, Christian, Alex, and Leah went swimming.

Allysa and Kelsey went to her room and soon fell asleep along with Elijiah. Josh and Seth decided they wanted to play video games and David Michael headed out to see some friends. The adults decided to stay in the living room and talk.

Maria could tell that something wasn't right with her best friend and their family. Liz and Max seemed to have some sort of hostility between them because everything Liz said, Max would contridict, even if Liz was right. The kids had been overly quiet and it bothered Maria.

"Liz, can you come show me something in the kitchen I want to make some coffee." Maria said standing.

"Yeah." Liz answered and the two of them went into the kitchen.

"Here's the coffee Maria." Liz said handing it to her.

"What's going on with you and Max?" She got straight to the point.

"What are you talking about? We're fine." Liz smiled the best she could.

"Bullshit Liz,I'm your best friend, I know when things aren't right."

Liz sighed. "Things haven't been right for a long time Maria. I sent Max divorce papers."

"YOU DID WHAT?!?!?!?!" Maria yelled.

"Maria, shut up, I don't want everyone knowing, Max and I were getting into about that before you came."

"Oh Liz, I'm so sorry. We can leave, stay at a hotel."

"No! Maria it's fine. I really don't want to get a divorce. I love him so much Maria."

Maria hugged her. "I know you do. You'll work it out, you're Max and Liz, you were meant for each other."

"I always thought that, but now I'm not so sure."

"I know things have been rough since... " she paused, "the accident, but don't give up Liz. I know it's hard, but you love him."

"Sometimes, love just isn't enough though." She said and left the kitchen

::Sorry so short! I'm kinda at another block where I'm not sure where I wanna go with it. I have a whole plan, but it's getting there that's getting me stuck! Hopefully I'll have another good part up soon, I know it's going kind of slow! Stick with me please!::

Part 11

Haley sat on her bed not really knowing what to do. She was very lucky that her family was so rick because it worked out that Haley wouldn't have to share her room while they had guests, which was very good because Haley liked her alone time.

Haley was so confused. How she had gone from hating Justin all to having sex with him in like 3 days had been beyond her. She didn't even know how it had happened... one minute they were sitting there talking and the next she was kissing him.

She felt like she had majorly betrayed Marc even if he had broken up with her. What was she going to do?

Haley felt the tears at the edge of her eyes and she did everything she could to push them away, but nothing worked... Haley broke down and sobbed on her bed.

Hayden heard her crying and went into her room.

"Haley, are you ok?"

"No."

Hayden sat on the bed next to his twin. "Everything's gonna be ok. I promise."

Haley sat up and looked at him, tears still coming. "You think so?"

"I know so." He said, and he hugged her.

:: Ok I know it's short, sorry, I'll get another one up soon! Thanks for the feedback and bumping while I was gone! I appreciate it!::

Part 12

**Of all the things I believed in
I just wanna get it over with
Tears form behind my eyes
but I do not cry
I'm counting the days that pass me by**

It had been 2 days since the whole Justin thing happened. Haley realized that despite everything, she was still in love with him and she always had been. She was ready to tell him.

She knocked on his door and he answered. "Haley, hey."

"Hey. Um, can I come in?"

Justin smiled. "Of course."

She walked in the house and they sat down on the couch.

"Haley, listen about the other night..."

"Yeah, that's what I came to talk to you about. I realized that, I'm still in love with you and I don't know how you feel about me, but I really needed to tell you. Wow, that was alot easier than I thought."

"Um yeah, I don't think that me and you would work out."

"What?" Haley couldn't believe it. What had she done that made her have such a horrible life?

"Haley, we are two different people, maybe if it had been 3 years ago."

"3 years ago you broke up with me! What the hell are you trying to play here? No wait, forget it. Goodbye Justin."

**I've been searching deep down in my soul
Words that I'm hearing are starting to get old.
Feels like I'm starting all over again
the last 3 years are just pretend
and I said**

Liz sat on her bed tears streaming down her face. She just couldn't do it anymore.

"Liz?" Max walked into the bedroom. She turned to face him and he saw the tears. "What's going on?"

"I'm leaving you Max."

**And I said
Goodbye to you
goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved.
The one thing that I tried to hold on to.**

Justin sat in his living room with not the slightest clue why he had just done what he had. He had been in love with Haley for as long as he could remember and he just didn't know why he always pushed her away.

He knew he had hurt her immensly again. All he ever seemed to do when he was around her was hurt her. He decided it was time to make a decision.

**I still get lost in your eyes
and it seems that I can't live
a day without you
closing my eyes and you
chase my thoughts away
to a place where I am blinded by the light,
but it's not right.**

Haley sat in her car and sobbed hysterically not knowing why she let him in. She should have known he'd hurt her. He was always hurting her and it wasn't worth it to her anymore. She couldn't live like this. It was too much.
She had hit rock bottom and there was no one there to help her out.

*Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved,
the one thing that I tried
to hold on to.*

Max stepped out of the room and into the bathroom away from his wife. He shut and locked the door, and there in his bathroom while his whole family fell apart he cried. He cried for his family, he cried for the love of his life. He cried for his daughter Whitney. He cried for himself.

**And it hurts to want everything
and nothing at the same time
I want what's yours and I want what's mine.
I want you, but I'm not giving in this time.**

Liz grabbed her suitcase and started packing her things. She packed her clothes, her makeup, and last but not least, she placed her wedding picture on the very top on the things and shut the suitcase.

**Goodbye to you,
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
the one thing that I tried to hold on too.
The one thing that I tried to hold on too.
Goodbye to you
goodbye to everything I thought I knew
you were the one I loved.
The one thing that I tried to hold on to.**

Max cried in the bathroom, Liz drove to the airport, Haley sat by the ocean, Justin laid in his bed and the rest of the family and friends sat outside by the pool having fun, having no clue what was about to happen to change their lives forever.

**And when the stars fall, I will lie awake. You're my shooting star.**

Part 13

Maria hadn't seen Max or Liz for quite sometime. Her and Michael had been having a great time at the pool with Isabel and Jesse and the kids, but she knew something had to be up. She dried herself off sufficiently and headed up to Liz and Max's bedroom. The door was shut.

"Liz?" She knocked. No one answered. She headed down the hall and saw that the bathroom door was shut. "Liz?" she asked again. This time she got a reply. But it wasn't Liz.

"Liz left." Max said.

Maria could hear something was wrong by the tone of her voice.

"What's what's going on?"

Max opened the door and Maria knew instantly that he had been crying.

"What happened?" Maria asked.

"Liz decided that there was no hope for us and she left me."

"What?!?! When?!?!" The confusion and anxiety in her voice was definetly showing.

"About 20 minutes ago." He said and he started walking towards his bedroom.

"And you didn't go after her?" She said angerly.

"She didn't want me to. She left."

"What the hell is wrong with you? You are sitting in the bathroom crying when you could be in the car driving to the airport to fix things. What happened to Max? Becuase this new one is definetly not an improvement?"

"Maria leave it alone, ok it happens. People stop loving each other."

Maria stopped and stood there for a minute, then said quietly. "Look me in the eyes Max and tell me that you are still not as much in love with Liz as you were in high school."

Max didn't say a word.

"That's what I thought. Now stop being such a damn baby and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Go fix your family. Get your wife back!"

With that Max headed downstairs and to the car.

* * *

Haley sat watching the ocean for a long time. She had always come to this spot when she uspet. It calmed her. She didn't know what to think about the Justin thing. She couldn't believe he'd be so mean.

She sat alone for a long time until someone sat next to her.

"Justin called. Told me what happened."

She sat in silence with her visitor.

"He said he didn't know why he said those things, that you were the most important person in the world to him, even if you hadn't spoken for 3 years. But he said he thought you'd be happier with someone else."

Still she said nothing.

The two sat there on the beach watching the waves crash onto the sand, saying not a word, just sitting and enjoying having the other there.

* * *
Max drove quickley to the airport. They lived fairly close so the drive was only about 10 minutes. He was grateful for that because it meant by the time he got to the airport Liz would still be there. Max drove in silence for about 5 minutes, but then turned on the radio.

"In our top story this hour there has been a shooting at LA international airport. Five people are persumed dead, and many more wounded. We will have updates on this story as soon as they come in."

Part 14

He ran as fast as he could but the security guards held him back.

"My wife, my wife is in there." He tried to explain to the guards, but they didn't care.

"Sir, no one is allowed in there, we will give you news as soon as possible." The first guard said. He was chubby and had a beard and the 2nd guard was pretty skinny and young.

"But you don't understand... my wife. I need to get to her right now."

"Sir we know you are worried, so are the other many people out here, you will just have to wait." Chubby said.

Max stepped back and called the house.

"Maria? There's been a shooting at the airport, Liz is inside. Get here. Bring Haley and Hayden. I need them here, leave the rest of the kids at home."

* * *

Liz wasn't sure what was going on. All she knew was on minute she was buying a ticket to Roswell and the next there was shooting and then she fell and there was imense pain in her stomach.

She had been shot for the second time in her life, but this time, Max wasn't around to save her.

::Ok I know it's short, sorry about that! There's more coming soon I promise! Let me know what you think of this part!!! *happy*::

Part 15

Haley and Hayden had been sitting in silence at the beach and decided to head home. On the way Haley got a call from Maria that her mom was in trouble and she needed to get to LA International immedietly and find her father. Maria met them there.

Haley and Hayden rushed to their father who was standing with his sister and 3 best friends.

"What's going on?" Haley asked.

"There was a shooting, you're mom is in there and something's wrong, I can feel it. I need to get in there." Max said.

Hayden and Haley knew exactly what he wanted them to do.

"Dad there are so many people." Hayden said.

"Wait.. what's can they do?" Maria asked.

"Hayden and Haley have Tess's power and when they are together it's very strong." Isabel answered. "We only just found this out recently."

"We don't have any time to lose. Just hold it long enough for me to get in there ok?"

Hayden and Haley grabbed hands and focused very hard on the numerous people. They got in easily and Max just ran in the airport. No one saw him.

* * *

It didn't take him long to find Liz. She was at the ticket counter... bleeding. He ran to her side. "Liz?"

"Max?" She said weakly.

"Liz, it's ok, I'm here now." In all the chaos no one noticed the two making a connection that was extremely strong.

Max rode in the ambulance with her, while Hayden took his car. He worried about a handprint, but luckily, there wasn't one.

The whole ride to the hospital, holding her hand, Max realized, he had alot to tell her.

::Next will be the hospital scene where Max and Liz talk. Will he be able to fix things? Or is he too late???::

Part 16a

Max walked into Liz's hospital room with a single white rose. "Hey, how you feeling?" He asked as he sat next to her.

"Ok, a little sore. Thanks for saving my life yet again." She said with a bittersweet smile on her face.

"How could I not? I love you."

"Max... things can't go back to normal."

"I know. But why not?" He asked.

"We've changed Max. We aren't in high school anymore."

"But I still love you just as much as I did then... I will always love you. We can fix this, Liz please..." He begged her.

"Max..."

"No!" He interrupted her. "I love you more than anything, and I can't change the past, I know that, I know I made mistakes, big ones and there is no excuse for what I did, but pure selfishness, but Liz, if anything, give me another chance. I need you, I can't live without you. You're my life... my everything."

"I just don't think we can make it this time."

"... Liz ... please...."

"I'm sorry Max."

Max turned to walk away.

*Liz what are you doing?!?!" She thought to herself. *Call him back here!*

"Max!" She said and he turned to her.

"Yeah?"

She hesitated. "Nevermind."

::Ok, I finally have the next part up! YAY!!! Anways I'm going to be out of town August 2nd - 5th, so I won't get to post until I get back! Just to let you know!::

Part 16b

Max walked into Haley's room and sat on her bed. "How are you feeling?" He asked.

"Not too great. How are you?"

"Not too great."

She looked at him and nodded, meaning she understood how he felt.

"Haley, David Michael told me about everything. He's really worried about you, and to be honest so am I."

"I'm fine." She said.

"Haley, you are not fine. Shoving your finger down your throat when you are upset, that's not fine."

"And you running away from your problems with mom, that's not fine either, but no one tells you how screwed up you are." Haley yelled.

"Haley, you aren't screwed up, you are confused and I'm sending you to see a psychologist."

"No, you aren't."

Max stood up. "Yes, I am. You can be mad all you want, but you need someone to talk to and since it's obviously no one around here, well then I'll pay for it. Because I want you to be better."

"Whatever." She said, and with that he left.

* * *

Isabel was sitting at the kitchen table, when Max came into the kitchen looking angry.

"Max what happened?"

Max sat down at the table. "My family is just... it fell apart and I didn't even care."

"You know Max, we all thought that you and Liz would lead this fairy tale life. That no matter what happened, your love would conquer everything. I think that we got that into your head, and we were all wrong. Love doesn't conquer everthing. I wish it did. But just a little lesson, don't assume that someone will always love you, just because. Love isn't something that can just be there, everyone has to work at it. You let Liz down, and now you have to make it up to her in the best way you can."

"I don't know what to say to her so that she knows how much she means to me."

"Maybe it's not what you say, but what you do. Actions speak louder than words Max. Think about it."

With that Isabel left her brother to his thoughts, praying that everythind would turn out ok.
