Title: Goddess of the Night
Authors: Leah
Rating: Pg-13 for right now
Disclaimer: I don't own anything from Roswell or Daughters of the Moon book series, so don't sue
Summary: Read to fine out hehe
Note: Feedback is a necessity, good or bad, for me to continue my fic. And go read Buried Fears that I wrote with Juliette!! *big*

*The Into.*

I know what you're thinking right now. What is a Goddess of the Night? Sounds like an evil thing, I know, but it's not. There are two forces, good vs. evil to make it simple. The good being the Goddesses of the Night, which include my two friends, Maria and Isabel, and me. We each have a tattoo of a cresent moon with a star on the palm of our right hands. This is what keeps the followers away from us. The followers are evil, as you probably guessed. They turn innocent people into people like them; they take the innocent people's hope. Like us, followers can read minds, and force thoughts into others minds. That's how we fight. The Goddesses protect the good and the followers protect the evil. Right now everything is in balance.

Before I leave, I think there are some people you should know about:
Maria: Goddess
Isabel: Goddess
Max: Most powerful follower
Michael: Max's brother & follower
Alex: Follower
Kyle: Follower
Regulators: A group of evil that have the power of taking Goddesses and follower's lives. Thankfully they can't unless they have a good reason.

I am Liz Parker, a Goddess of the Night. This is how I live my life, and you still have much to learn about the good and evil forces.

Should I continue or not?

DragonFire and Bite Me: Thank you very much for the feedback!! You both are wonderful. *happy*

Juliette: Thanks hun for supporting my fic! I can't wait until I can do the same for yours! *happy*

dreamangel: Good questions! Yes everything is in balance even though there are more followers then Goddesses. Followers can make more followers, unlike Goddesses. Plus, there are more followers then I mentioned. I only gave you the names of the most important ones. You'll get the hang of it as everything moves along. OH! And def. Max and Liz forbidden Romance! How could a dreamer not incorporate that in a fic? *big*

~Part 1~

I’m walking down the street with Maria and Isabel, who are arguing the reasons why you can’t date followers. I’m getting very annoyed because we have been over this a million times already, but they just won’t accept it. I know more then they do because I’m the most powerful.

“Okay girls, if this is what it takes to make you understand why you can’t date a follower, then so be it,” I say aloud while I grab their right hands.

“Amy, they’re coming for us as we speak, and I can’t do anything. It pains me to know what our fate is, and I cannot protect the only I truly love with all my heart,” Shad says as he grabs Amy and holds her while looking around for regulators.

“Shad, we knew that this could happen. It is forbidden for a Goddess and a follower to see each other like we do. Liz warned us, remember? She knew, but she never told the other Goddesses because it would be easier to protect them that way. She said it was our choice, and we already made it,” Amy says while lifting Shad’s chin to make his eyes level with hers.

“I’m so sorry sweetie. If I knew that this would have happened, I never would have put you in this situation,” he says.

“I love you, Shad. I would not change anything that has happened in the past,” Amy says.

Before Shad could tell his true love that he also loved her with all of his heart one last time, a regulator showed up behind her.

“Watch out Am-,” Shad yelled, but it was too late.

The regulator that came to show Amy and Shad to their fate had a cape covering his whole body.

“It’s easy to kill a Goddess since they’re not immortal,” the regulator said. “But, it will be more painful for you. You went against you’re kind, and I reckon that’s why you suffer more than the Goddess does.”

Shad had seen his true love die right before his eyes, and he was not able to do anything. He had nothing to live for since he became a follower until her met her. Now, with Amy gone, he lost the only hope that was deep inside of him. The hope that Amy had found and restored by loving him. He was now left with nothing.

“Hurry and get it over with,” Shad yelled.

End of Flashback

“I’m not going to make you see the excruciating pain Shad went through because I think you understand why you’re not allowed to see a follower,” Liz screamed.

It hurt her to remember the past. She was more protective now. Liz felt that she let Amy die by knowing she had a relationship with a follower.

“I could have stopped it then. I’m not going to let what happened to Amy happen to either of you if I can help it. I care about you two way too much,” Liz said in a hushed tone.

“We understand Liz,” Maria stated. “I’m sorry we pushed so hard. We wouldn’t have if we knew…” Maria trailed off.

Isabel and Maria both went and embraced Liz. Liz stifled the tears that wanted to fall, and composed herself.

“It’s okay you two. You didn’t know. Now what do you say if we go look for some trouble?” Liz asked.

Liz, Isabel and Maria locked arms like they do when they prepare for a fight, and continued on their way searching for something dangerous.

Still want me to continue? *wink*

~Part 2~

Something was bothering Liz. She knew something was just not right tonight. They had walked around town for about three hours, and there was no sign of evil. These days, Liz could sense evil following them, or even hiding in the bushes. None of that tonight.

“This is so boring!” Isabel screeched.

“Just be glad we didn’t have to fight tonight sweetie. Especially against Max,” Maria said while glancing at Liz.

One thing I need is patience Liz thought to herself. She didn’t like the fact that the new girls were always slower. Every other Goddess, with the exception of Liz, had been killed in one way or another. Then Liz had to go find the other Goddesses Diana chose, and that really took a bite out of her time.

Liz had only met the Goddess Diana once before, when she had witnessed the killing of the most powerful follower at that time, Veto. Liz had fallen in love with him, as did he with her, but they knew better than to have a relationship. After all, they were the most powerful of their kind. But, to Liz’s nightmare, Veto couldn’t handle them being enemies, and the job he had to assign the lower followers to do: to kill Liz. So, he killed himself in front of Liz, after confessing his undying love for her. Liz could not show any emotion because the Goddess Diana was a witness to this brutal experience herself, and if Diana figured out what Liz felt for Veto, she thought Diana would discharge her as a Goddess, which meant that her powers would be taken away, along with her memory, and she had to start a new life with absolutely nothing. But, to Liz’s surprise, Diana sensed Liz’s feelings for Veto, but did nothing to her. Diana told her that because she did not act upon her feelings, there was no need to do anything.

“Tu es dea,” Liz stated simply while looking at Isabel.

“Yah, Liz, I know I am a Goddess,” Isabel challenged Liz.

Isabel was the most immature of the group. She had been Miss. Popularity before Liz recruited her as a Goddess. And damn, Isabel was stubborn. She would challenge Liz, but she had no idea how powerful Liz really was. The three girls had only been in two fights together, against Kyle and Alex, which did not force Liz to use all of their power. It was not the Goddesses job to kill followers. It was their job to prevent them from harming innocent people. The only exception to killing a follower is in the attempt of saving yourself or someone else.

“Grow up, would you Isabel?” Liz screamed. “I’ve been working my ass off defending the good of the world for the past three years, and I’ve seen four goddesses die in that period of time. One of those killings is my fault. My love killed himself because he was a follower and he knew he couldn’t be with me! I have no family, and no life! And you have no intention of making this any easier on me, do you?”

Isabel and Maria stood there staring at Liz.

“I’m out of here, I’ll see you tomorrow,” Liz said and walked in another direction.
“I wish she would just open up and tell us everything, ya know?” Isabel asked Maria. “If I knew everything that happened in her past, then maybe I wouldn’t be so harsh half of the time.”

“She does it to protect us Isabel. To keep our minds from fear and wandering when we are in a fight against the followers. To keep us from showing any emotions that could give us away. She is teaching us to be strong so we can protect our lives, and the lives of others. What I don’t understand Isabel, is that when are you going to realize you are a real Goddess? That you’re here to protect people, and be pure with all of your intentions?” Maria asked Isabel with tears falling freely from her eyes.

“Don’t you for one minute think that any of us like our jobs. We didn’t ask to do this! Just remember Liz said that after she feels we can protect ourselves, we could have some fun. But fun can also be located at a dangerous territory,” she said.

Maria gave Isabel a half-hearted smile, and began to walk to her home. Isabel stood where she was for a moment, and started on her way home also.

Liz sighed as she looked in the mirror at herself. She was one of the most beautiful Goddesses to ever walk foot on Earth. She had black, straight, silky hair that fell the mid of her lower back. He eyes were an enticing green color that caught the attention of every man that looked into them. She knew she was ready to move on in her love life, and that was only because she was never able to touch or kiss Veto. There was just this aura about him that she loved. Liz took one last glance in the mirror, and turn around and walked to her bed. She pushed back the covers and slowly climbed in. It only took a moment before she was in a deep sleep. Little did she notice the person that was climbing in her window from the balcony.

~Part 3~

Liz woke up in her bed drenched in sweat. Her nightmare had been horrible last night. She looked at her digital clock to see what time it was, but it was turned toward the wall.

“Damnit!” Liz shouted as she slammed her fists onto the bed. “You can’t even have a good nights sleep without watching your back!”

She quickly jumped out of bed and threw on a pair of black jeans, keeping the same black shirt on that she was wore to bed. Liz wondered if she should get Maria or Isabel first. She decided to go to Maria first because she would comprehend better and faster then Isabel would.

“Open the door Maria!” Liz screamed at the top of her lungs. She had no idea what time it was because she forgot to put on her watch and turn her digital clock around in her room.

Maria had no intention of opening the door until she heard Liz’s voice inside her mind.

‘Open the door now, Maria! Something is up, and we need to see if Isabel is okay,’ Liz said in Maria’s mind.

‘I’m coming Liz,’ Maria said back into Liz’s mind.

Thank god for mind talking, Liz thought to herself. Sometimes she didn’t know what she would do without it.

“What’s up Liz?” Maria asked as she opened the door. She was throwing on a pair of baggy pink jeans and a tight pink shirt. Maria was the free-style one of the group. Liz thought she had the right body style and attitude for it.

“My digital clock was turned around when I woke up this morning,” Liz stated simply.

“What does th-,” Maria asked, but was interrupted by Liz.

“Followers don’t like to see clocks or time because it reminds the of their immortality. So, that means a follower came into my room last night, but I don’t know for what yet. That’s why we need to see if Isabel is okay. They might know that she is the weaker one,” Liz said as quickly as possible.

“Lets go then,” Maria said as she threw Liz the keys to the jeep. It was black with gold writing of the word Goddesses on it, and was only used for work.

Liz had been pounding on the door, while both of the girls were trying to send mind messages to Isabel, but were unable to do so.

“What does this mean Liz?” Maria asked with a worried expression on her face.

“I don’t think she’s here. The followers must have taken her,” Liz said more to herself then to Maria.

“Lets go get her,” Maria said.

Liz didn’t budge from where she was standing.

“Now Liz!” Maria pleaded.

Liz grabbed Maria’s hand before she could run to the jeep.

“We can’t now Maria. We will be putting ourselves in danger. The followers would not have taken her without a plan of their own, and that’s what we need to figure out before we rush in and save the day,” Liz said as she looked directly into Maria’s eyes.

“Why not?” whined Maria.

“Because if Max has her, I need your top notch help to fight him. You know he is the most powerful of the followers, and I am the most powerful of the Goddesses. What happens if Max is fighting with me, and out jumps one of his friends, and his friend mind attacks me too? Then I’m gone Maria. I’m dead,” Liz said with tears brimming in her eyes.
She knew that her heart wanted to go right now and risk everything to rescue Isabel, but her mind told her differently. Maria and Isabel couldn’t teach another Goddess with what they knew now, and she new that she needed to stick around a little longer before she got herself killed. She also needed to finish teaching the girls before she turned seventeen. When she was seventeen, she had to make the biggest choice of her life. She had two more years before that day would come, and Maria and Isabel had four. I hate being in these situations Liz thought to herself.

“Where to?” Maria asked Liz.

“My house. I have all the things we need there,” Liz sighed.

Liz and Maria ran to the jeep and speeded to Liz’s house.

~Part 4~

Liz was sprawled out on her bed. She didn’t know what the followers would want with Isabel.

“Unless,” Liz said aloud.

‘Unless what?’ Maria asked through Liz’s mind.

Liz humped. She didn’t realize she had said anything aloud, and she was really not ready for Maria to put something into her mind.

“Hehe, sorry about that Liz,” Maria apologized. “But we seriously need to do something about Isabel. I really can’t just sit around on my ass Liz. Especially when I don’t even know if she is okay right now!”

“Okay, well, this is what I’m thinking. They must have taken Isabel as a trap to lure us to them. I think it’s time that they want evil to dominate,” Liz said as her voice wavered.

Just because she was the most powerful, it did not mean that she was scared and did not want to die.

“What do they have to do for evil to dominate?” Maria asked with a worried expression on her face.

“Kill all of the Goddesses before Diana has a chance to choose new ones,” Liz sighed.

“Well, I guess we are as ready as we’re gunna be. Maria, I need you to truly fight your best, and get Isabel and yourself out of there as quickly as possible. If Max is there, I’ll fight him. Just save yourselves.”

“But, what abo-,” Maria said, but was interrupted by Liz.

“No buts this time Maria. Just do as I say honey,” Liz said while looking deep into Maria’s eyes.

Maria nodded her head, and they headed out the door and got into the jeep.

“Where to now, Liz?” Maria asked.

“To the Crashdown. I have a feeling that they will be there,” Liz replied.

The Crashdown was a club for dancing. This was one of the places that Liz promised to take the girls to have fun, but thought they were not ready yet. She had no choice now, did she? It was a place where normal people, followers and Goddesses could go to party. Usually there were no fights there. This is why Liz thought they took Isabel there; thinking that the Goddesses wouldn’t fight back in an atmosphere like that. They were wrong. Dead wrong.

Maria and Liz pulled up in front of the Crashdown. Liz could feel the vibration from the music pulse through her.

“Remember, Goddesses do not attack first. It’s against the rules Maria,” Liz informed her.

“I know, I know,” Maria sighed.

Liz and Maria entered the Crashdown. Max was standing right in front of them. Liz put up her mind block. She was prepared to fight. But, before she knew it, Maria was in the arms of Alex. Startled, Liz let her mind block down. She was not used to having Goddesses being captured so easily in a fight.

“Mistake, Goddess,” Kyle growled.

He had a hold of Liz’s mind. She was more powerful then he was, but before she could send a power surge back at him, Alex joined. Kyle and Alex both had a hold of her mind. She dropped to the floor moaning in pain.

“What now Goddess? Thought you could defeat us this time?” Kyle smirked.

Alex still had a hold of Maria, but Michael came and grabbed her so Alex could focus completely on Liz. It took all of Kyle’s and his strength put together to have Liz in a tight hold.

“Ready for a remembrance?” Alex asked.

“I’m here Veto,” Liz whispered.

This was the first time he had ever asked her to meet him. She knew something important had to be up for him to do so. They were always so careful.

“I’m sorry Liz, to put you in danger like this, but I had to…” Veto trailed off.

‘It’s okay, Veto. Just hurry so we don’t get caught,’ Liz said in Veto’s mind.

It was safer to talk this way.

‘This has got to be the saddest day of my life. I called you here today for a bit of bad news. I won't be able to see you anymore because of my obligations, and the ties that you have. We've been meeting here everyday, and since this is our last day together, I wanna hold you just one more time. When you turn and walk away, don't look back. I want to remember you just like this. Let's just kiss and say goodbye,’ Veto said.

Tears were falling feely from Liz’s eyes. Before she could make a move toward Veto, he was killed. The pain was unbearable for Liz.

“Goodbye Veto, mi amor,” Liz whispered into the wind.

End of Flashback

“Never got to kiss your lover, huh?” Alex teased. “Too bad Goddess. Really, it is. But the real question is are you ready to join him?”

Kyle, Alex and Michael were building up power. Liz was trying, but with the flashback of her last moment with Veto, and the pain that she was feeling, she couldn’t compose all her cells to blast a surge of energy. She knew she was going to die.

~Part 5~

“What’s up now Max?” Michael asked.

“I want to be the one to kill the Goddesses,” Max smirked. “All three of you get out now! And bring the fair one into this room.”

Michael left for a moment, returning with Isabel, unharmed.

“Get off of me!” Isabel screamed while trying to free herself from Michael’s grasp.

Michael and Max laughed.

“Leave me alone with them,” Max ordered.

Before Michael left, he put a trance on Isabel, and set her down on the floor. Alex held the mind control on Liz while Kyle quickly put a trance on Maria. When Alex let his mind control down, Liz was in too much pain to do anything to help her friends or herself.

Michael, Kyle and Alex left Max alone with the Goddesses.

‘Please don’t hurt me, Max,’ Liz begged into Max’s mind.

“You’re usually not the one to be begging,” Max mused. “Haven’t fought anyone in a long time, huh Liz?”

‘No, I haven’t. I’ve been training the other two,’ Liz replied.

Max could see Liz’s pain through her eyes. He wasn’t the one with the idea to have evil dominate. It was Kyle and Alex’s foolish idea. But because he was a follower, he needed to agree with the plan so the regulators couldn’t discharge him.

“Go, Liz. And I’m warning you, don’t put up a fight when you leave because you know what will happen. I need to fight a good one to let evil dominate. Not take the easy way out,” Max lied.

Liz was not recovering from the mental pain she was put through. She looked directly into Max’s eyes, and to her surprise, she saw no evil.

‘What do I tell everybody else Max?’ Liz asked into Max’s mind.

‘Tell them you power attacked me when I was not ready, and you took the trance off of your girls and fled,’ Max stated.

Max saw that Liz thanked him with the look in her eyes. She got up and Max took the trance off of Maria and Isabel. Liz ran to them, helped them up and started toward the door of the Crashdown.

“Shit!” Max beamed.

Before Michael, Kyle and Alex ran into the door, Liz, Maria and Isabel were already out.

‘See you next time my lovely Goddess. I’m looking forward to seeing your beautiful face when it’s not a time for fighting,’ Max whispered in the wind.

Liz turned her head.

“What’s wrong Liz?” Maria asked.

Liz heard exactly what Max said. Was he falling for her? Or was it a trap?

“Nothing girls. I’m glad we’re all okay. Let’s get out of here before they decide to try again,” Liz sighed.

They got into the jeep and peeled wheels.

~Part 6~

“What happened Max?” Kyle yelled.

“They got away,” Max said in a hushed tone.

“You let them get away?!” Alex asked astonished.

“I didn’t say I let them. I said they got,” Max replied glaring at Alex.

“Don’t worry Max, we’ll get them next time,” Kyle reassured him as he patted his back.

“Let’s get you cleaned up sweetie. A set of new clothes would be good. Maria could you run upstairs in my closet and grab something that Isabel would be comfortable in?” Liz asked.

“No problemo. I’ll be right back,” Maria said as she got up.

“Tell me what happened Iz,” Liz soothed.

While Liz was wiping up the blood on Isabel, she couldn’t believe that the Followers would use physical attacks on Iz, not when they had such mind control.

“Well, they were drinking,” Isabel said. “They said they just wanted to have some harmless fun before they got down to business. I thought they were talking about something else, but thank God I was way off.”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t have been there sooner, Iz. I just couldn’t put Maria and myself in danger without knowing what was really going on. Then there would have been no hope for any of us,” Liz explained to Isabel.

In the mean time, Maria had walked in and heard Liz’s speech.

“That was beautiful Liz,” Maria said as she came and handed the clothes to Isabel.

Liz gave a heartfelt smile.

“Bathroom is down the hall to the right,” Liz said. “Feel free to take a shower and use all my things.”

Liz got up and grabbed her purse.

“There’s something I’ve gotta do,” Liz told Maria. “You guys will be okay until I get back?”

“You betcha!” Maria eased Liz.

“I’ll be back really soon, I promise. If you need me, then call my cell. My number is on the fridge,” Liz said as she walked to the door.

“It’s okay Liz, really. We’ll call you if there are any problems,” Maria replied.

With that Liz was out the door. She had the keys to her yellow dodge truck in her hands, but threw them inside her purse. She felt like walking under the moon tonight. She wasn’t exactly dressed to kill..afterall, she did have a run in with the most powerful follower. It wasn’t like she would be able to fight in heels. Then what are you doing? Liz thought to herself. She had walked four or five blocks without realizing how far she had gotten. Then she heard a noise. She paused and quickly moved behind the bushes near her and cleared her mind. She needed to clear her mind so nobody could sense her presence. She peered from behind the bushes and saw who she wanted to see.

“What are we looking for again?” Kyle asked.

“We, Kyle, are looking for someone to cross over and join evil,” Max replied.

If only you really knew who I was looking for and why, Max though to himself.

“Shit,” Liz said to herself.

She had forgot to put her cell phone on vibrate.

“Hello?” Liz answered.

“Liz, we need you over here pronto!” Maria yelled into the phone. “Isabel swears she saw something from the future, and she’s flipping out. I can’t calm her down.”

“I’ll be right there Maria,” Liz said back. “Try to keep everything under control until I get there.”
With that, they hung up. Liz stood from behind the bushes. Little did she notice that Max had walked over and had been standing there since the phone first rang.

“Hello Goddess,” Max greeted her. “Trouble in paradise?”

“No. Yes. No. Well, yah I guess. Even though I don’t know what’s up yet,” Liz said coolly.

“Need any help?” Max asked.

“I don’t know. Maybe. Even if I did, I’m not sure exactly how you would help,” Liz replied.

Max smiled at her. He seemed to sense the little part of good that was deep down inside of him when she was around.

“Umm..I’ve really got to run Max. Maybe we’ll bump into each other sometime soon,” Liz said.

“Hopefully next time you won’t have to hid in the bushes,” Max said as he continued to smile at her.

Max kissed Liz’s hand. She was happy that it was dark so he couldn’t see the blush rising in her cheeks. Then she turned and ran with all her might home.

Thank you Juliette, Strawbehrry Shortcake and CRAZY 4 MAX for the feedback! This part is dedicated to you guys!

~Part 7~

I shouldn’t have left the girls home alone, Liz thought to herself. She knew what was up, but hearing Maria’s frantic voice on the phone, it troubled her because she knew they were scared. Liz just didn’t know what she could do about it.

She ran up the stairs to her house and threw open the front door. Maria had a wash-cloth over Isabel’s forehead. She knew that what happened were Isabel’s powers, but she didn’t know how to explain them to her exactly. She never did when the Goddesses first experienced their power.

“I’m home. How’s everything?” Liz asked Maria as she walked toward the couch.

“It was soo werid Liz. I mean, I’ve never seen anything like this happen in my whole life,” Maria said.

“Isabel’s sleeping?”

“Yup. She was worn out after she said she saw something from the future. She just zoinked out,” Maria replied.

“I’ll tell you what happened ‘cuz I know,” Liz whispered. “You can help me figure out a way to explain this to Isabel when she wakes up.

As Maria took the wash-cloth off of Isabel’s forehead to add more water, both Liz and Maria didn’t notice Isabel’s eyes flutter open. She had heard the last part of the conversation. She quickly closed her eyes and remained in the state she was before. She wanted to hear this conversation to know what they were keeping from her.

“Well,” Liz began, “every Goddess has a special power that they can use to help each other in the group. My power is reading the future through tarot cards. I also use my cards to see if Isabel’s premonitions are correct. Maria, Isabel experienced a premonition tonight. We need to see what it was because it always comes true.”

“Why didn’t you tell us before? Ya know, about our powers?” Maria asked.

“I thought it would be better for you guys to learn how to be careful in the beginning. You can’t always rely on your powers for everything.”

“You could have just told me like you told Maria,” Isabel said.

Liz and Maria jumped out of their skin, scared to death.

“Jeeze, we didn’t know you were awake,” Maria said.

“I just didn’t want you to get scared Isabel. About the part where your premonitions always come true,” Liz replied to Isabel’s statement.

“What did you see?” Maria asked Isabel.

“I’m not telling. It won’t happen if I don’t tell anybody, right?”

“I’m afraid so,” Liz said. “Even if you try to keep it a secret, it will still happen. The only way to help each other is for you to tell us what happened.”

“I’ll find a way to protect you guys, I promise,’ Isabel said as she ran out the front door.

“Should we go after her?” Maria asked Liz.

“I don’t think so. We should let her go and think about it. We could always read her mind when her block is not up,” Liz smiled.

“Why is she doing this?”

“Because she’s scared. She is the first one of you both to get he powers, and it scares her. She still thinks that if she doesn’t admit to it, it won’t happen. Unfortunately, she’s wrong. Totally wrong,” Liz trailed off.

“Well, is it okay if I call my Mom and just tell her that I’m staying the night here?” I can get a ride to school with you tomorrow, right?” Maria asked.

“Yup. You can use the phone in the kitchen. I’m gunna head upstairs to get ready for bed. Meet me up there?”

“You betcha,” Maria smiled.

Liz walked up the carpet stairs that lead to her bedroom & bathroom. She got on her PJ’s, pulled her hair back, washed her face, and brushed her teeth. When she was finished, Maria was standing at the door waiting for her turn.

“All yours babydoll,” Liz smiled with her pearly whites.
“Just wait until I brush my teefers! Mine will be pertyer!” Maria taunted.

Liz laughed in response and went to her bed. All she needed was to go to school tomorrow, she thought. Before Maria came out, Liz was sound asleep. Maria crawled into the twin bed next to Liz’s and fell asleep within minutes.

Maria woke up to the frantic noise of Liz screaming, moaning, laughing and talking in her sleep. This was weird. She has spent the night at Liz’s many times, but she never did this. Maria gently woke Liz up.

“What’s wrong?” Maria asked.

Shit, Liz thought to herself. Did she hear Liz talking to Max in her dream?

“Nothing, why?” Liz asked in return.

“You were making all kinds of noises in your sleep. Like you were talking to a guy that you liked,” Maria said. “I couldn’t take it anymore.”

It was so real though, Liz thought to herself. It was as if Max has traveled and planted himself into a dream on purpose.

“It was nothing Maria. I was probably just having a dream. Ya know, the ones you can’t remember when you wake up.”

Maria gave up and walked back over to her bed.

“You were right Liz,” a guy’s whispered said as he became distant, you could hear his laugh fading.

~Part 8~

When Maria woke up, Liz was already gone, her bed made and the smell of coffee in the air. She glanced over at the clock that read 10:33 AM. Where would Liz have gone so early? Maria asked herself. She put on her slippers and robe, and headed downstairs. Maria noticed a piece of paper pinned to the coffee machine. She took it, sat down, and began reading.

I went out to get some groceries. Parents are leaving tomorrow for their Vacation, so I’ll be home alone. Be back in 2 hours. Left at 9:30.

Great, another hour, Maria thought to herself. She poured herself a cup of coffee and walked over to the phone. She dialed and listened to the telephone ring.

“Hello?” Isabel’s voice wavered.

“Hey, I didn’t wake you, did I?” Maria asked.

“Yeah, but it’s okay, I needed to get up anyway. What’s up?”

“Nothing. Liz is out till 11:30, and I’m bored. Wanna do something?” Maria asked.

“Sure, give me about 20 minutes. I need to wake up and take a shower,” Isabel replied.

“Yeah, me too. I’m going to finish my coffee and get a shower too, then I’ll head over. Sound good?” Maria confirmed.

“Sounds like a plan to me,” Isabel said smiling.

The girls hung up. Isabel got her butt out of bed and headed into the shower. Maria finished her cup of coffee and hopped into the shower also. Then she headed over to Isabel’s house, which was only a few blocks away, so she could enjoy the beautiful day and walk.

Knock, knock, knock, Maria’s fist banged on the door. Isabel ran down her swirling staircase and opened the door.

“Come in,” Isabel greeted Maria with a kiss on the cheek.

“Don’t mind if I do.”

“So, what did you wanna do?” Isabel asked.

“Well, I left a note for Liz on the fridge and told her to call your cell if she needed us,” Maria explained. “We could go have some lunch..err..breakfast?”

“Great. Let me go get my purse. We can take my drop top,” Isabel said as she threw the keys to Maria.

-Back at Liz’s house-

Liz set the two bags of groceries on the steps while she reached for her keys and went to unlock the door. Funny, Liz thought to herself. The door was unlocked. She knew that she locked the door before she left to go shopping. Maria probably left and forgot to lock the door, Liz said aloud to calm her nerves. She picked up the two bags of groceries and went inside the house. She walked into the kitchen and saw a note hanging from a magnet on the fridge. Liz walked over and read it. I knew it was Maria, Liz thought to herself.

“What the?!” Liz screamed.

Liz put up her mind block, and searched through the house to see if there was an aura, which she did sense. Unfortunately, it was so faint, she couldn’t tell who or what was in the house. She ruled out the choice of being a human, because if it was, they couldn’t hind their aura like this. She knew that she was in danger. She began walking from room to room, looking for danger while trying to sense what was around her. She finished the downstairs room, and there was nothing unusual there. She began to climb the stairs. The last room to check was hers. She walked inside, and there he was, sprawled out on her bed sleeping. Confusion ran through Liz. What was happening?

~Part 9A~

Liz walked over to the bed and tapped his arm. What else was she supposed to do? It’s not every day that you come home and find your enemy in your bed. But, he didn’t wake up. She could smell the booze on his body, but she didn’t know what would cause him to drink himself to the passing out stage and what would bring him to her room…on her bed. She tapped his shoulder again. This time he came to and swung at her. Liz quickly jumped back, avoiding the clumsy fist by a second.

“Where the fuck am I?” he moaned while bringing his hand to his head.

Liz gasped. It wasn’t Max. Anger flared inside of her.

“Where do it look like you are?” Liz moaned. “And what are you doing here?”

“Goddess,” Michael hissed, “I passed out and I’m here.”

“Well, I’ll let it slide this time,” Liz teased. “But next time you won’t be so lucky.”

Liz heard a squeak on the stairs. She sighed. A normal day was turning into a hassle. She turned around to see Max standing in the doorway.

“What’s going on here?” Max asked in confusion when he saw Michael sitting on the edge of Liz’s bed.

Liz chuckled to herself. She could sense the jealousy that Max felt.

“You underestimate me Max,” Liz laughed. “Would you really think that I would go down on Michael?”

Max cringed. He knew that Liz had read his emotions.

“What are you talking about?” Max asked. “I was talking to Michael.”

“Right,” she replied.

“Michael, what are you doing here? I did not give orders to spy on the Goddesses. Especially the most powerful. What were you thinking? You could have got yourself killed.”

“Dude, I’m hung-over!” Michael stammered.

“Get out of here man,” Max ordered. “And get yourself straightened up.”

Michael moaned as he stood up, and walked out of Liz’s room.
“Here to save me?” Liz asked Max.

“I couldn’t let my favorite Goddess be harassed by anybody but this macho man,” Max said while flexing.

Liz giggled. She didn’t know what was getting into her. She couldn’t control her attraction towards Max.

Max smiled. He read her mind. He pulled her closer and put his hand up the back of her shirt as she pulled him in for a passionate kiss…

~Part 10~

Max’s hand slowly rose up the back of Liz’s shirt as Liz traced her hand around his rock hard chest. Hot flashes began to take over her body as a tingling sensation formed around her pleasure point. She knew want she wanted, and it had been such a long time since she had gotten it.

“Max,” Liz whispered in his ear.

As her words faded, Max grabbed her ass with his hands, picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. The passionate kisses began turning into longing and wanting kisses. Max knew what she wanted, and he was going to give it to her. His only wish was for her to enjoy and remember this night because he didn’t believe they would ever have the chance again.

Liz undid Max’s belt buckle and took off his shirt, leaving him standing only in his boxers. He threw Liz onto the bed and pulled off her skirt. Then, slowly unbuttoned her blouse until she was in her red bra and thong. Liz pulled Max on top of her and stared kissing him, but he pulled back.

“What’s wrong?” Liz asked.

“Nothing…it’s just..well..ya know…I don’t have a condom with me.” Max mumbled.

Liz giggled as she flipped around. She reached into the drawer and pulled one out, but before she turned over, Max slapped her ass, and she screamed.

“Max!” Liz squealed as she threw the condom at him.

“Are you ready for this or what?” Max asked.

“I’ll have a frosty with a large fry,” Maria told the waiter.

“Me too,” Isabel echoed.

The waiter walked away.

“Check that butt out,” Isabel moaned as she grabbed Maria’s hand.

Just as she said that, Michael and Alex walked through the doors of The Café. Isabel and Maria looked over, and saw that the boys were walking towards them. When Isabel and Maria glanced at each other, Michael and Alex sat down next to them. Pure silence was in the air.
