Too Late!
Prologue: Max never lived in Roswell. Parents moved there after his grandparents died, and inherited a house. Liz is a 19-year-old businesswoman living in her hometown. New guy comes in looking for work. She inherited her parents’ restaurant. Her brother Greg moved away, and she was left standing.

Part 1
Max couldn’t believe his parents were even considering moving to Roswell. It was in the middle of nowhere. There was no point in moving to Roswell. Roswell was the smallest place in the state, to him. He didn’t even know why he was going there. It was either that or drops out of college. College was very important to him. HE didn’t have the financial support to move out and stay in school. What other choice did he have? Isabel, his sister, had it easy. She was already married, and having kids. She was aloud to stay for her family.

They got to the welcome to Roswell sign. He was half a sleep. They had been driving all night, and tomorrow he needs to find a job. Then he needed to get school supplies, and fix up his room. They got to the house it was a disaster. It was much worse then the place in Chicago. Chicago was somewhere. This house was barley in the town.

Max helped his dad unpack the trucks and then went straight to bed. He had to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor. They hadn’t got their beds, and other stuff together. The house looked worse then it did before he got to the house. Stuff was everywhere; he was lucky he found somewhere to sleep.

The next day he walking down the street looking for somewhere that was would hire him. He saw many signs on the street saying not hiring. Does anyone in Roswell need employees? Just then he saw it. He must be kidding. A little restaurant with an alien theme. HE must be kidding himself. Just then he walked in the restaurant.

The restaurant was very weird. No wonder they nee employees. HE walked to the front and a young beautiful girl was running around with plates of food. HE tried to talk to her but she just kept running around. HE smiled. He knew how to do it. He went and sat at a table. A few later she came up to him.

She was gorges. There was something about her that sparked a butterfly in his stomach. She had dark long hair, and was wearying a short little waitress dress. He just looked at for a minute she was obviously she was getting irritated.

“What can I get for you?”

“Oh, sorry. I was just looking for the owner.” She laughed at him.

“Well you found her. Hi, I’m Liz Parker.” She put her order booklet in her pocket, and put her hand out for his. He took it. She sat in front of her. “What can I do for you?”

“I’m looking for a job…”

“Let me guess only place with a help needed sign.”

“Pretty much.”

“Well I am desperate. Sure you’re hired…”

“Max!”

“Max you are a waiter. When can you start?”

“Now if you need me.” A scream from one of the customers caught is ear.

“That would be great. Go in the back and ask for Maria. She will set you up with what you need.” She got up and left him sitting there.

He went in the back and it was allot less hectic. HE tried asking a cook who Maria was, but he just yelled at him. HE moved out of the way to find a coach a girl was sitting down on it.

“Excuse me but are Maria?” He asked her she gave him a dirty look. Someone behind him tapped him on the shoulder. He turned and looked it was a small girl, with short blond hair. She had a big smile on her face.

“Hi, I’m Maria!” He shook her hand!

“Hi, I’m Max, Liz told me to come to you for what I need to work.”

“You’re the new guy. Well come back here.” They went to a room in the back. “Put this on, and take this.” She handed him an apron, and book. “The special’s are Tuna sandwich and space fries. Okay, and remember to smile. Good luck!”

“Thanks!” He put his apron on and took the booklet in the pocket. He took a deep breath, and left the room. He got to the front of the restaurant, and Liz came up to her.

“You have that side of the restaurant.” She pointed left of him. He started to work right there, and then.

Liz couldn’t believe the cute guy that needed the job. She didn’t care about who he was she was desperate to get employers. Ever since her dad died, she had been struggling. She had to pay bills, go to college, run the restaurant, and work there. Her father taught all the hard stuff before he died, but it was still hard. She had to jungle everything in her life. Kyle didn’t make it easy either. He was her boyfriend. They have been going out for over two years. Her father died a year ago in a car accident. Her little brother Greg was sent to her aunts in New York to live. She didn’t leave because someone needed to work at the restaurant.

She was overwhelmed, because no one wants to work for 19-year-old girl. She had a problem just keeping up with the life she established already. Her life was hell since her father had died. It broke her heart. The new guy was cute though.

The day was finally over she closed. She flipped the sign, and clasped in a booth. Max sat across from her. HE looked at the exhausted Liz in front of him. HE through a wash clothe at her. She threw it back at him. He got up, and helped her up.

“Now what boss lady.” Max said almost falling on his butt.

“I have to go do some homework, and eventually call my boyfriend.” A knife was stabbed in his stomach she had a boyfriend. Liz looked at him she hurt him. Did he like her? Was it possible some new guy comes in and doesn’t know her, but likes her?

“Well I should get home.”

“Need a ride.”

“No I will be fine, thanks.” He gave her a hug. She was amazing. She owned her own restaurant, and went to school. “There is one thing I’d like to know.” He turned around and looked at her.

“Shoot!”

“How did a young girl like yourself run a restaurant, go to school, and have a boyfriend?”

“Well my dad left me the store when he died a year ago. I was going to college to get a better education so I can get out of this town. And Kyle was my boyfriend before all this had happened to me.” She didn’t even look at him.

“Well how do you do it?”

“Talent! Good night Max.” She turned and looked at him. He had the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. Amber! They were Amber eyes. HE smiled at her and left the room. She went up stairs, and went to her room. Liz laid down on her bed. She didn’t want to do her homework. She laid down, and passed out on the bed. The day was finally over.

The next day woke her up with a phone call. She didn’t want to answer it, but she had to. She picked it up, Kyle. He didn’t even give her a minute to speak, he already was.

“Liz, I heard you have some one at the restaurant.”

“Who told you?”

“Maria, only your best friend, which hasn’t heard from you in a week. You should call her she is getting worried about you.”

“Well I’m sorry I have a big life now. Why are you concerned that I have a new employee?”

“Well now that you have someone to cover for you, do I get to take you out for dinner.”

“Kyle, I can’t leave a new guy here alone. It wouldn’t be right, and you know it. I can’t keep doing this Kyle. I have a life. I have responsibilities, please stop bugging me.”

“Liz, I just need to talk to you, please.”

“Listen to me! As soon as I train this new guy, I will go to dinner with you.”

“I’ll be there tonight.”

“Kyle…” He hung up at on her. Dang him. He always did that to her. She looked at the clock; she was gong to be late for work. It was Sunday; she lived on top of her work and she was going to be late. She thought she had enough problems.

Liz Quickly got up and got dressed. The day had to begin. She ran down the stairs, and Maria and Max were waiting for her to open the doors. The Kitchen men already had a key to the back door, that way they could get in and prepare with out her. Late scrambled in and got stuff ready. Liz went through the register and opened, and filled it with certain cash she keeps in the volt. She got back and Max was talking to Maria.

“Hey you too! Do I have to be mean boss?” They through the rags that they were using to clean the tables. She through them back at Max. She meant to get both of them, but missed judged and hit Max instead. She started to laugh at herself. Max took them, and Liz ran into the back. He chased her to the back. Liz hid behind the coach.

HE crept into the break room, and looked around for her. Max knew where she was. He went behind her, and pulled her back. Liz looked up, and Max had a hold of her. She looked into his beautiful Amber eyes more clearly then she had before. Max was looking right back at her. Then she felt to wash clothes in her face. She moved them, and Max was still looking at her.

Max couldn’t move she was so beautiful. Her eyes full of love for something he was sure she didn’t even know. Her hair was all over his lap, and he could feel her breath on his face. He finally got conscious and got up. All of a sudden he realized he had his boss in his arms. They both got up, and went to the front of the restaurant. They started to work.

“So where are you from Max?” Liz asked when they started to work.

“Well actually I was born here, I think. I was adopted in New York, and my parents moved to Chicago when I was eleven. Then my grandparents died, and my parents inherited their house. They needed to get away and I need tuition money.”

“Oh, I see you live with them until you can pay for your own college money, and you move with them.” Maria said from her own corner of the room.

“Pretty much, how about you two?”

“We both lived here are whole life!” Liz said from behind the counter. “We met in Elementary, and have been best friends ever since.”

“Are you dating Maria? Because I have a great friend that would be perfect for you.” He tried to make it sound like he wasn’t asking her out.

“No! What’s his name?” Maria asked interested.

“Michael, last time I heard he moved down here a few years ago. I can’t seem to find him.” Both of them started to laugh, and confused Max looked up at them. “What’s so funny?”

“Allow me!” Liz said looking up, and turning but Maria stopped her.

“No, I’ve got this one. Hey hon.! Hon, get out here a minute I want you to meet someone.” Max was even more confused then ever. What were they doing? Max looked back to his work, and heard the door open behind him.

“Yeah, what’s up babe?” A voice came from behind him.

“Hey, I want you to meet our new waiter, Max!” Max turned, and sure enough there he was. Max was in shock. They had been best friends until the accident with Michael’s ex-girlfriend. He hopes he didn’t remember that.

“Max, all be. Look at you! When did you get here man?” Michael said smiling at him.

“Two days ago. Look at you, a cook.” Max noticed his clothes.

“Better then a Waiter… Way a minute how’s Rachael?”

“WHO?”

“Rachael, you know the girl you took from me in High school.”

“Oh, come on Michael that was a long time ago. She moved to Washington anyway.”

“She dumped you!”

“Pretty much!” Michael turned, and Maria was giving him an evil scowl. She was obviously mad at the topic of conversation. “Stay away from this one. I like her.” He bent down and gave her a kiss. For a girl who isn’t dating that was pretty weird. Max just figured that she said it to see what he said. “Well I’ll get back to work. Talk to you later man.”

“Yeah see you later.” Michael left the room.

The rest if the day was normal. They worked and opened the doors when it got to hot. They all thought it was too hot. Not just the out sider that happened to walk in town for school. An hour until closing he felt a weird sensation to go in the brake room. He walked in and found Liz and some guy in the same room. She seemed to be a little irritated with him. It must be the boyfriend he had heard so much about. Not really!

“Kyle, I told you I have to work!”

“Liz take the rest of the day off, please.”

“I can’t. God knows I love you, but this is important to me.”

“Liz, please.” He wrapped his arms around her, and she put hers around him. “I was going to wait, but now might be the only time I will see you.”

“Kyle what are you talking about?” Kyle let go of her, and knelt down on one knee. Max felt a knife in his heart. He wasn’t. Max got really jealous, and couldn’t take the idea of them together. Even though he was new to the town there wasn’t something about her that he really liked. Kyle took out a box from his coat pocket, an opened it. A ring! He was going to do it.

“Liz, will you marry me?” Liz was in shock they had been dating for almost three years, and she had never thought of the idea of marrying him. He put the ring on her finger, and she almost collapsed.

“Kyle I never really thought of it before. I don’t know.” He looked heart broken. None of them noticed the waiter that was watching them. Kyle got up and walked away from her.

“Well the ball is in your court.” He left her there. Liz looked like she was going to fall. Max walked up to her. She was sitting on the coach now. Max sat next to her.

“Liz are you okay?” She looked up and saw Max sitting next to her.

“I don’t know. That guy that just left is my boyfriend. He asked me to marry him.”

“What are you going to do?”

“I don’t know. What am I supposed to do? I don’t know if I love him or not. I never thought about it before. He’s a nice guy, and I do love him, but not that way. Max what should I do.”

“Tell him the truth. Tell him how you feel. That’s what I would want you to do if I were in your position. I wouldn’t want the girl I asked to marry me to just not tell me she didn’t want to marry me.”

“You are so sweet max. There is no one else though. I don’t want to be a lonely old woman running this restaurant forever. I want to get married, and sell this place. Then move away to another city. That isn’t going to happen though. Kyle is the sheriff of Roswell, and I don’t think he wants to go anywhere.”

“Then don’t marry him. There are other guys out there Liz. There are nice guys out there that would do anything to have a girl like you.”

“Like you!”

“Yeah just like me.” It registered what he just said. “Wait I mean…”

“You mean that you like me Max. You are the shyest guy I have ever met. When did you get to that conclusion?”

“When I looked into those eyes of yours this morning. I felt something that you felt too. I know you did.” She hated him at that moment. He was right. She did feel something, but she wasn’t going to say that to him.

“No, why what did it feel like?”

“Liar.”

“You know that the restaurant closes in a half-hour. You can stay little after, and help me clean up.” She looked at him with big eyes. Then got up and walked out of the back, and started to work.

Max was in shock. He usually flirted with the girls. Not the other way around. It wasn’t everyday he had a girl flirt with him. Even worse it was his boss. His boss of two days was hitting on him. Even worse she was practically engaged to someone else. Was he crazy?

The rest of work went easy. Maria left early to meet up with Michael. They must be a good item for him to do that with a girl. Michael had never really been that involved with a girl before. He would know they were best friends for almost six years. The end of all of it Liz went in the back. Max wasn’t sure what to do. How often was it that a girl asks you to stay after work?

Max finally got the courage to go over and talk to her. She must think he is a total doofus. He got in the break room, and she was sitting on the coach. He sat next to her. Both of them were really silent, and neither of them knew what to say.

“Liz I’m sorry about what I said I was out of line.” Max was practically telling her it was a lie.

“Max it’s okay. I laid to you.”

“What do you mean?”

“I did feel something when I looked into your eyes.” Max got anxious. He couldn’t believe she laid to him. That wasn't like the girl he met. "I was afraid that you would do something... Like what I want you to do."

"What do you want me to do?" Max got really close to her, and she touched his arm.

"I think you know!" She stared into her eyes. HE grabbed her face, and touched her lips with his. He softly touched them with a kiss, but then they both went a little deeper. He licked her bottom lip a little to tell her he was going to go in farther. SHe opened her mouth and welcomed him. He looked up at her. SHe was enjoying it. He pulled away.

"We can't Liz. You are almost engaged, and I don't think it would be right." Max got up and left he there, before she could protest. Max didn't know what to do. Liz couldn't believe what she did either.

Part 2 (rated R for a passionate night)

Liz went up in her room. She didn’t know what to do. All her life all she wanted to do was grow up, and have a family. Since her father died, and her brother left she had been alone. No one ever even wanted to be n her family. A family! She had wanted one of her own ever since she was a kid. She never realized she already had one with her brother and father. But that was ripped from her. Everything was ripped from her. Maybe Kyle is her last chance to have a real family of her own.

Liz picked up the phone and dialed a number. She wasn’t sure whose it was, but she knew what she had to do. Kyle picked up the phone, and Liz cleared her voice.

“Kyle it’s me, Liz.”

“Liz, What do you want?”

“To talk. I have a class tomorrow at eight, but I was wondering if we could talk before that.”

“Yeah, I will see you around seven okay!”

“That will be fine, see you then.” She hung up the phone. What has she done?

Liz sat on the bed waiting for a sign of what she should do. Then she turned, and looked behind her. She went put of her room. She went straight to her father’s bedroom. Which was the same as she had last seen it. She put her hands on the bed, moving her fingers through the blankets. Then moved to the picture on the dresser, her parents wedding picture. Her mother died giving birth to her brother. She missed him allot. Greg was an annoying brother, but he was her brother. She wanted all of them here with her. She wanted her dad to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

Liz really did love Kyle, but she wasn’t sure it was that kind of love. Was she sure she wanted to live the rest of her life with Kyle? Liz walked back into her bedroom. She wasn’t paying attention to her window. She jumped on her bed and started to cry. Just then the window opened. Liz jumped, Max! What was he doing in her room? How did he know it was her room? HE walked close to her, and sat on her bed. She felt like a child sitting there with tears running down her face. Max put his hand on her shoulder. Liz wrapped her arms around his neck, and cried on his chest. Max obviously didn’t know why she was crying, but was there for her.

Liz looked up at his face. Then in his eyes. She loved looking at them it comforted her in a way she would never have understood. He put his hands through her hair. Liz got light headed. “So are you going to tell me why you are crying?” Max said still touching her hair.

“I’m alone! Ever since my father died, I have had to grow up. Now I might be engaged, and I’m scared. Why do things have to happen to me?”

“Liz, your not alone. You have friends that care about you. A boyfriend who loves you. You own your own restaurant, and your own house. You have a great life, don’t be sad about it.”

“I miss my family. I miss the way my dad use to argue about my friends always hanging out at the Crashdown. Then when Kyle came in he would watch me like a hawk. I miss Greg, my brother. He use to read my journal and report it to my father. I hated it when he did it. So I found a hiding spot. HE would look for hours for it, but never found it. I still hide, though I don’t know why. NO one is here, but me. I hate going up in my house, above the restaurant, and be alone. No one waiting for me.”

“I know what you mean. I never knew my parents, and no one ever found out who I am. I never knew my parents, and all I had was my sister. She got married a year ago, and she is pregnant. I have no family. Though the Evan’s try to be like my parents, and they are great parents, I have an empty spot where only my own parents can fill.”

“What is your sister like?”

“She’s a ditz. Ever since she learned that she could have control over guy she did. She would walk around making everyone’s head turn. She got married to my father’s assistant. It was the only guy that she would do anything for. It was very funny. I was the best man at the wedding. I remember the bachelor party. He got really drunk, and I didn’t like him very much at the time. So as soon as he got on my bad side I punched him. We got into this big fight. Isabel was so mad. We made up though. So through the whole wedding he had a big black eye. We have been good friends ever since.”

“That is cool. You really care about your sister don’t you?”

“Well she is the only family I have. You do know she is my twin?” Liz shook her head no. “Yeah, I guess that the Evans found us together on a road not that far from here. Isabel and me were the only things around that were different at school.”

“ I know that feeling. Maria, and I were alone for a long time. There was another before the accident. When I was seventeen, we had a friend named Alex. One day he was in the desert alone diving his car somewhere. His girlfriend, Tess, had just broke up with him, and he was driving to get his mind clear. When a drunk driver hit him. Then a year later I lost my father.”

“That is terrible.” Liz pulled away from him. She stood up.

“How did you know this was my room?”

“I didn’t. I figured we should talk, and I saw the latter in the alley. So I climbed it, and I saw you walk in the room. I wasn’t sure what to say at first, but then I saw you cry. I didn’t want to watch you cry without doing anything about it.”

“You are so sweet, but you don’t know anything about me. You never will.”

“What makes you say that?”

“You just moved here. We just met a little over a day ago.”

“I use to go to school here, you know, back in Elementary. So how can you be sure we didn’t know each other at that time.”

“What class were you in?”

“Ms. Duluca, second grade, you?”

“The same class. Where did you sit?”

“By the window, next to the gerbil, Spot!”

“Oh, my god. I sat right in front of you. The one that knew all the answers. I hated you!”

“Hey what is that suppose to mean?”

“You use to answer all the questions that I knew. I remember going home and complaining because you knew the answers. I always use to be the smart one in the class, until you came.”

“That was you!”

“Yes, I was so glad when you left. I was the one that gave you the spoiled chocolate Hershey piece for Valentines Day.”

“You gave me food poisoning. See we have known each other for years.”

“We hated each other!”

“Actually I had a crush on you!”

“What…you had a crush on me. That is so funny, because I sort of liked you too. That just grew to hate, and well you know.” He moved close to her again. Sitting on her bed. She looked away from him.

“I never thought you of all people would like me!” He looked away from her. “Do you want to go for a ride?”

“Where?”

“I want to show you something. Please!”

“Fine, but nothing funny.”

They got up, and Liz grabbed her sweater. They walked down stairs, and went out the restaurant. Liz walked over to his jeep, and hoped in it. She didn’t have any idea where they were going, but she knew she wanted to go. Max was the nicest guy she had ever met. Ever since her dad had died, she hadn’t been able to get close to anyone. But Max was different. He made her feel comfortable. Max got in and sat next to her. They drove off.

Liz noticed when they got to the desert. What was out there that was important? Nothing was ever in the desert. Liz looked out of the window, and noticed that there were clouds forming out side. She didn’t like the look of that. She pulled her sweater closer to her. Then she turned and Max was focused on his driving. He looked really tense. She put her hand on his, which was on the clutch. He turned, and smiled at him. They went out to a spot of the desert, and noticed that Liz had never been at this part of the desert before. Now that she thought about it she hadn’t been out of the town since her father had died. Max stopped, and walked out of the car.

Liz got out of the car, and they were right out side of the high way. Liz stood next to her. Max looked down on the ground, and then looked up as if to remember something. Liz put her hand on his shoulder, and he looked at him. “This is where the Evans found me and me sister. Lets see we were walking from there.” Max turned, and started to walk. Max looked at Liz who wasn’t moving. He took her hand, and they started to walk in that direction.

Max pulled her around a big canyon on the side of them, until he stopped in front of a whole in the ground. Max let go of Liz’s hand and jumped down the hole. Liz wanted to yell for him not to go, but she couldn’t talk. What was he doing? Why did he bring her here of all places? She finally got her guts to jump down. The sun was just setting, and there were some light in the cavern.

Liz couldn’t see for a minute, then her eyes adjusted. She looked around, and there was nothing there. Max was knelt down on the ground in the middle of the floor. Liz walked over to him, and put her hand on his shoulder. He looked at her, and was suddenly swept with passion. He stood up, and grabbed her face, and kissed her. Max was hungry for her taste. Liz couldn’t help, but accept it. She put her hands through his hair. Max backed her up against the wall of the cavern. Liz was overwhelmed with emotions.

Max wasn’t sure what he was doing, but he knew he wanted to it. Liz looked into those eyes, as Max was exploring her whole body with is hands. She closed her eyes, as he kissed her deeper and deeper each time. He wanted her really badly. She wanted him too. All their emotions forming into one big desire. The desire to be there at the moment with the other. Liz didn’t care what things were going to be like now on. All she knew was she was there wanting him at that moment and no one could stop them.

Max’s hand went up her skirt, and grabbed her butt. Liz moaned at little telling him to continue. He smiled at her. She put her hand on his chest, he was so strong so masculine. She pulled his shirt from in his pants, and pulled it over his head only leaving his mouth for a second. She rubbed his chest in desire to touch him. She stopped kissing him for a second.

“Max, what are we doing?” He was millimeters from her face. She could feel his hard breathe on her face. She knew he felt hers.

“I don’t know! Why?”

“I don’t know!” They both smiled and Max was on her again. Max reached her zipper, and undid it. She felt her dress loosen, and she moved her arms to let it fall to the ground. Max picked her up and she wrapped her legs around him. She was there in her underwear with guy she use to hate. For the stupidest reasons of course.

Max put his hands around her back leaving her butt. Liz put her head on his shoulder, and then went back to him when he stopped kissing her neck. Max took Liz away from the wall, and laid her on the ground. Gently moving her to a soft spot on the ground. She just stared into his eyes. She reached his belt and undid it. Then moved to the button, and zipper. She didn’t have much luck with it, when Max started to kiss her stomach and her brest. She moaned. Then Max helped her out with his own pants. Leaving her lying there.

When Max was done he swept back down, and kissed her. Liz felt him even better without his pants. He really did want her for more then a boss. Max reached behind her, and undid her braw leaving only their underwear again. Liz took it off, and Max was I an 'Ah' state of being.

“Max I though you should know I have never done this before.” Liz whispered in his ear with a moan when he grab one of breasts, and squeezed.

“Don’t worry. Neither have I!” Max kissed her soft lips with a hard desperate kiss.

Max moved his hand to her panties, and put his thump through them. Then slowly moved them down. Liz closed her eyes, feeling him touch her. Then she moved her hands to his boxers, and pulled them down with his help. She felt HIM on her side. He kissed her again with raw passion and desire. She slowly kissed his ear. He slowly moved into her. They were both expecting it, and then with a big sigh he pushes it in. Liz tries not to scream as much as she can, reaching for anything that she can to hold on to. There was nothing near her on the ground. So instead she grabbed Max’s back, and held on to it. He moved through her quickly as possible. She could feel him pant for it. But all Liz was trying not to scream his name, but she was loosing with a loud desperate scream she yelled his name. She was lucky no one was around to hear it, because it would be embarrassing. Max was moaning her name under his breath too. They both needed this they both wanted it. Liz opened her eyes and Max looked flushed. He was fluttering his eyes, not on purpose of course, but he was. He kept moving in and out of her bringing both of them to the brink of destruction. Then there it was with one last stroke. Liz felt him collapse next to her.

Max couldn’t do it anymore. They both got their fill and he knew it. She was the most amazing girl in the world, and he had her with him in the way he wanted. He looked over, and her eyes were still closed. Max pulled her close to him. She brought her arm around his chest and closed her eyes. He held her for a very long time, just looking into her eyes. He had her for the moment and nothing can change that, nothing. They lay there trying to get their bearings straight. Then suddenly Liz got up, and started to walk to her clothes. Max decided to join her, getting his clothes on too. They were fully dressed, when Max went over to Liz who was putting her hair back on the other side of the cave. He grabbed her around the waist, and kissed her passionately. Liz felt her self melt in him at that moment. They both broke apart, and walked to the jeep.

The whole drive to the Crashdown they were silent. It was a little uncomfortable for them sitting there. Neither of them knew why they did what they did only a half hour ago. They got to the Crashdown, and Liz jumped out of the car. Max followed her to the door, Liz turned and Max was almost on top of her. Her heart was racing when he touched her face. What was she doing? None of this was supposed to happen this way. She loved Kyle, but was it the same way she felt for Max. This knew guy comes to town, and ruins her life, as she knows it. No it isn’t going to work, she made up her mind she can’t do it. Max brushed his fingers in her hair, and bent down to give her a kiss. They locked and it was as if the whole world went blank in that moment. Liz broke apart from him.

“Max, I don’t know why I did what I did, but this can’t happen again. Please don’t…” Max was hearing her, but knew that her eyes were telling him not to stop. He gave her another kiss, and made her melt again. “Max please you can’t keep that up.”

“Liz, no matter what you say your eyes, and your touch tell me that you want me to continue.” She looked into his beautiful amber eyes, and almost fainted into his arms. He gave her another kiss. He was right she did want him to continue, but it wouldn’t work would it. He broke apart from her. “Oh, Liz! I have never felt this way about anyone in my life.” He put his fingers back through his hair.

“Max, I know what you mean, but it…I mean it couldn’t…no it shouldn’t happen this way.” Max smiled at her she couldn’t stop looking into his eyes. He had her waist in his grasps and holding her closer to him then he was. She felt his breath on her, she wanted him right there. “Maybe we should go inside and TALK.” She pulled away, and unlocked the door. She walked in and Max was still right there practically on top of her again. She didn’t care though, because he was amazing. She also had never felt this way about anyone.

“Liz, I know you have a boyfriend, but will you consider me. Please. I haven’t stopped thinking about you ever since you hired me. Your beautiful long hair, soft skin, and brown eyes. Then what happened tonight I…I don’t think I ever will get you out of my head.” Liz closed her eyes, and felt him all over her body. She liked him around her. “Liz if I don’t kiss you right here, I’m going to explode.” Liz walked away from him, not saying a word. Max didn’t follow right away.

She walked in the back and sat on the coach. Where was he? She figured that if he really wants it, then he would come to her. After about minute, when he was deciding what to do, he walked in to the room. It took Liz’s breath away when he ran up to her, and almost picked her up. He fell to his knees and kissed her. She was in shock when he kissed her the way he did. She did fall into his arm this time. She pulled away when she needed some air. He needed her, and she needed him. “Max…you are the most amazing thing in the world. But why are we here? What are we doing?”

“Maybe because we both know we needed it. We needed each other at this point in are lives, and maybe because we want it. Believe me I know the way you feel. You are amazing, more amazing then anything I could hope for. The only question I have is it going to last?”

“I don’t know.” He smiled at her and kissed her again. Liz broke him off of her, and walked up stairs. She knew he was going to follow. They weren’t going to do anything but it would be nice to be with him all night long. She went into her room, and lay down on her bed. She scooted over for Max. Who came in a little bit later. He lay down next to him, and pulled her close to him. She lay there in her arms, and drifted off to sleep.

Liz woke up the next morning in Max’s arms. He looked so peaceful lying there with his eyes closed. She looked over at the clock it was 7:00. She had to get out of bed. She slowly got out from his arms, and got up. He rolled over, and fell back to sleep. She got some clothes she was going to ware for her fist day of the quarter. Then she went into the shower, and took a nice cool shower thinking of Max.

Max woke up alone in Liz’s bed. He wasn’t sure where she was. He listened for a minute to any clue where she was. Then it came she was in the shower. He got up, and stretched out. Should he go in and say good morning. A big smile grew on his face when he thought of it. Then he walked into the bathroom, and her clothes were on the floor. The shower turned off, and she came out. She jumped back in when she saw him. He laughed at her.

“It’s nothing I haven’t seen before.” She thought about that for a minute, and then walked out. She reached for her towel and wrapped it around her. She reached over, and gave him a hug good morning. He bent down, and gave her kiss though. “Good morning.”

“Good morning. This is very weird. I haven’t had someone else sleeping in my house since my dad had died, and my brother left for New York.”

“Well is this a good weird.”

“Definitely. I have to get ready for school. If you want you can borrow some of my dads clothes in the other room.” He let go of her, and she grabbed her clothes. She walked into her room, and Max left her to go in the other room. She got dressed, and brushed her hair. When she was done she went down stairs. Max followed her a little later. It was almost time for Kyle to be there, and she needed to talk to Max first. She took a breath, and sat down at a booth. He sat in front of her, and held her hands from the other side of the booth. He had changed his clothes to cute black jeans, and a silk black shirt. He looked so good to her. “Max can I ask you a question.”

“Of course! What is it?”

“Well I need to know if what happened last night meant anything to you. Because if it doesn’t I’m really not sure what to do.”

“It was amazing!”

“Yeah, I’m not denying that, but the thing is did it mean anything.” Max wasn’t sure what to say. He had thought of it. He looked into her worried eyes. Had it been her first time with anyone too. Could it be!

“It meant everything to me.” She smiled. So she knew it meant something to him, but she still wasn’t sure if she should marry Kyle or not.

“Is there a future with us?” HE didn’t answer, because that was her decision. “Max, please. I have a guy willing to marry me, and help me in my life. HE has stuck with me the whole time I have been going through all of this. Then there’s you who comes into town, and gives me this amazing feeling of comfort. Then we do what we did, and I am scared that I did something wrong. I have a lot going on in my life right now, and I need someone that will help me through all of it. I have a very hard life are you sure you want to be apart of it.”

“You’re not asking this, your asking if you should marry Kyle.”

“Pretty much!”

“Listen you know where I stand. You are the most beautiful thing I have ever met, and you make me feel amazing. But you need to figure it out. I will accept it anyway. You need to think do you love him? Can you live the rest of your life with him?”

“I don’t know!” Max got up, and she did the same.

“You need to figure that out on your own. I would do anything for you, but I can’t make the decision for you. It will break my heart a little to see with him, but I will get over it. You will be stuck with the burden of making the right or wrong decision.”

“Max I’m not sure what to do. Just tell me not to marry him.” He pulled her up, and kissed her passionately. She felt the greatest feeling at that moment. She had never felt this way before, but she didn’t want to ruin his life. It was hard enough that she had allot of problems right now in her life. She didn’t need to put him in the middle of it. Max left her there in her own thoughts. He got into his jeep and left the Crashdown. She watched him leave.

She was still confused. She loved Kyle and he could live with all the problems in her life. Kyle was the sheriff and she was the owner of the local restaurant. It was the perfect picture, but was it what she wanted. Max had so much going for him. He could do anything, but if she gets with him he would be stuck in this small town, miserably, for the rest of his life. She couldn’t do that to anyone. Though she did give her virginity to him, it wouldn’t be right. Max Evans deserved better then the restaurant owner. That was it then she would marry Kyle.

Just then there was a knock on the door. She got up, and stood there by the door. “On the other side of it was the man I’m was going to marry,” Liz thought. She slowly opened it and Max was on the other side of the door.

“I forgot my stuff.” Liz started to laugh and let him in the door. He ran upstairs, and she saw Kyle pull up in his car. She walked up to him. He was just getting out of the car.

“Hey babe.” He gave her a hug

“Hi!”

“What did you want to talk about?” Liz’s heart started to race. She looked behind her she hoped Max wasn’t there, and he wasn’t.

“Well........

Part 3

Max quickly grabbed his stuff and ran back down the stairs. When he got to the door he saw Liz and Kyle hugging, his stomach fell to the ground. HE should just leave, but he couldn’t move. He could hear what they were saying. He tried as hard as he could not to eaves drop, but he needed to know. He looked at his watch he had time.

She heard him talking first. “What did you want to talk about?” Max’s mind flew around in his head. She wanted to talk to him. Why? I saw her glance his way, but moved so she could see him.

“Well I was thinking. I’m not going anywhere in my life right now, and you have been there for me my whole life. God knows I love you more then anyone else. Last night I decided,” She looked back over to his direction. Max thought she was hoping that someone would save her from what ever she was going to say. “I want to marry you!”

Max’s heart dove to the ground. She had decided to keep him. Max straitened up and walked to his jeep. He couldn’t look at him, but he knew she was looking at him. He felt her gaze on him. He wanted to go over there and kiss her so hard at that moment, but she wanted him. He almost slammed the door of his jeep in pain. He thought he felt tears about to run down his eyes. He knew that this was an option, and he knew that Kyle knew her allot longer.

He started to drive off, and caught a glance of Liz hugging Kyle and looking at him too. He knew that she knew that he knew what she had said to Kyle. (Sorry, it does sound a little confusing, but it’s true she does that that he knows that she is going to marry Kyle.) He drove all the way home with out even paying attention what he was doing. Just playing it by memory.

Max couldn’t believe how much that hurt him. He knew that she gave her a choice, but he was hoping that she would choose him. H had never met anyone like her, and he could see him spending his life with her. Having her in his arms was the greatest thing in the world. He was just hoping that it wouldn’t be weird during work. He hoped he could make it through work without crying. His shift didn’t start till five so he was safe until then.

Max got home and walked in to see his mom had fully decorated the living room. He heard some noise from the kitchen. He wiped away the little tears from his eyes and walked in. He turned and saw his sister Isabel. She jumped up, and ran to give him a hug. They were twins so they had always been close. Max gave his sister a hug but his mind was on Liz. She pulled away from him, and gave her a confused look.

“Max can I talk to you in the other room for a minute?” Isabel asked him with a worried look on her face. AT that moment Max knew she knew that there was something wrong with him.

“Yeah sure of course.” He said trying to make it sound like he was confused. They walked into the living room. He tried to act casual. “So what are you doing here Iz?”

“Max! I came down here to help mom try to organize this place, but that’s not why I want to talk to you.”

“What’s up?”

“Shouldn’t I be asking you that question!”?

“Fine I guess you found out didn’t you.”

“I will soon as you tell me what is wrong, and don’t tell me nothing, because I know that look in your eyes.”

“Fine. Something did happen. I met the woman of my dreams, but she is engaged with another man.”

“Max does she know how you feel about her?”

“Yeah, believe me we made it clear how we feel about each other.” He said falling on the couch.

“Max what did you do last night? I know you were gone all night, but what exactly happened last night?”

“Well she’s my boss. During my brake I went in the back of the restaurant, and ran into her and her fiancée. He had just proposed to her, and she told him she would think about it. She was so upset when he left, she sat on the couch almost in tears. I sat next to her, and talked to her. Some how she got me to say that I liked her. After work she asked me to stay after to talk to her. We got to talk, and I kissed her. Stupid me! Well I left in shock that I had just kissed my boss. I felt like an idiot for leaving. I was pacing in front of the Crashdown when a light went on in side near the alley. So I climbed the ladder near it, and I saw her crying on her bed. She let me in, and we talked for a long time. Turns out that we knew each other when we were younger.”

“Wait is that the girl you had a crush on in the second grade.”

“Yeah that’s the one. Well we went for a ride, and I took her to the place our parents left us. I’m not sure what exactly happened, but we both lost it, and we did something. First I…”

“Whoa stop. I don’t want to know the details.” Isabel stopped him before she found out something about her brother she didn’t care to know.

“Fine. After that we went to her place and I held her all night. The next morning I told her she had a choice if she wants me, or Kyle. I found out a half and hour ago she chose him. I think I love her Iz. What do I do?”

“Did you say you loved her?”

“No. All she wanted to know was if there was a future in this relationship. Her dad died a year ago, and she is running his restaurant. She wants to sell it after college, and move. Kyle is the sheriff, and she is positive that he doesn’t want to move away. Her brother lives in New York with their uncle. She wants to have someone she will grow old together.”

“Alright Max I’m going to give you advice. Mom, and Dad said that you can move in with me to go to college if you want to, because your credits won’t transfer. So go up to her, and tell her that you love her. Then ask her if she loves you, and believe me she won’t say no. Tell her that there is a big future between you two. Tell her that you will get another job here, and support her.”

“I don’t know Isabel. I’m afraid she will say no, and I will be left alone. I mean I had this great night with her, and gave her a choice. She’s not going to say she loves me it isn’t possible.”

“Trust me. I know!” Isabel got up, and walked toward the kitchen. “Find her now, before it’s to late.” She left Max t here alone.

Max got up, and started to pace for a few minutes. Then he finally got the courage to grab his keys, and ran out of the house. He heard his dad come out of the kitchen. He guessed Isabel told them almost exactly what happened that night, and his dad wanted to give him a talk. He jumped in his jeep, and drove first to the restaurant, but she wasn’t there. Then he just drove around, and looked for her. There she was at the campus park. He parked the car, and walked over to her. She didn’t notice him walking over to her. She was reading a book. Max sat down next to her, and her head flung up from her book.

Liz couldn’t believe he found her. She put her head down in shame for what she had done to Max. Max took her head into her hands, and lifted it up where she was looking into his eyes. She melted in the glow of his eyes. She felt his hands all of him again. She wanted him to hold her right now. He wanted her to kiss him to, but neither of them needed that right then at that moment. They both needed to talk about what happened the night before. Max sat on his knees.

“Liz I need to tell you something.” Max took a deep breath and thought about what he was going to say.

“I need to tell you something too. I’m going to marry Kyle.”

“I know I heard you say that you wanted to marry him this morning. That’s not what I wanted to say though. I want to tell you that my credits aren’t going to transfer here, and my sister offered her home until I graduate. I don’t want to leave. I want to be with you. I want to grow old with you. I want to hold you every night for the rest of my life. I love you Liz, and I will drop everything in my life if you say you love me too. You know you are making a mistake by marrying Kyle. We will move away from here, and do anything you want.” Liz started to cry. Max wiped her eyes off. Liz knew that he was telling her the truth; she didn’t want to marry Kyle. “Liz, do you love me?”

“Max I don’t…” She couldn’t finish her sentence. She was to intoxicate by his hands on her at that moment.

“Say you love me and I will stay here with you. I’ll work two jobs, I’ll be by your side every step of the way.” Just then Liz understood what he was saying. He was going to support her, and what she wanted to do. He was going to drop all his dreams for her. She started to cry. She didn’t want him to ruin his life like she ruined hers. She loved him. She truly did love him, but because of that love she wanted the best for him. She wanted him to live a happy life away from all her problems.

“Max, I don’t love you.” Liz started to cry even harder of what she just said. Her face was full of tears. She loved this man, and she practically just told him to leave her life forever. She was willing to live a fake marriage so the man she loved could have his dreams come true.

Max couldn’t believe that she just said that to him. She said it. She said she didn’t love him, but he felt that she was lying to him. “Liz are you sure you don’t love me.”

Liz took another breath and tried to say it again with all her might. “I don’t love you Max.” That time it was a lot easier. It still hurt her allot, but she needed to do it for. Max bent down, and gave her a passionate kiss. She fell into his arms as she kissed him back. She pushed him, back and quickly picked up her stuff. Max was just standing there by her. She looked one last time at him and left. When she got to a quiet place she just cried. Then without warning she yelled out. “I love you. Max, I love you.”

Part 4

THREE YEARS LATER

Max jut graduated from college in Chicago. Everyone showed up for his graduation. After graduation he would take a long vacation in Roswell with his parents, and then look for a job. He hated the idea. The last thing he wanted to do was go there, but it was for his parents. Max never forgot Liz, and the others. HE thought about her every day for the past three years, and couldn’t stand seeing her again. She was the one that broke his heart. He never dated in the past three years. Though his friends tried to get him too.

As he made it to the sign that said welcome to Roswell, home of the Aliens. His heart started to race. What would he say to her? She was a married woman, and more and likely happy. She made it clear that she didn’t love him; maybe he shouldn’t even go see her. Isabel stopped at his parents’ house, and he got out. Said his good byes to his sister, and went into the house.

Max was there for a good month without seeing, or hearing from her. He thought he was scott free. He sat in the kitchen with his mother, and talked about his options for work. HE got a masters degree in parallel legal. Just like his dad! They were just talking about a way for him to get in contact with his fathers old buddies from his old job. When all of a sudden a knock on the door distracted them. Max got up and walked to the door. He answered it with a big smile, until he saw her. There she was the one girl he had been avoiding ever since he got there. He took a deep breath, and tried to calm down. He still loved her allot.

“Hi, Max!” She said looking down at the ground. “Michael told me you were in town, and I really needed to talk to you.”

“Max, who is it?” His mother yelled from behind him.

“Don’t worry mom it’s for me. I’ll be back a little okay.”

“All right but hurry your father will be back soon.”

“Okay Mom!” Max walked out the door, and Liz moved out of his way. They started to walk to a car in front of his house. Max looked in the car to see a little girl in the front seat. His eyes turned away hurt. “What do you want Liz?”

“You needed to know that I laid to you!”

“What are you talking about?”

“After you left. Kyle and me planned our wedding. Two months later I found out I was pregnant.”

“Congratulations! Kyle must be proud.” Max looked mad, and had to look away.

Damn it Max would you just listen…” Max looked at her confused. “Me and Kyle never had sex. I would never let him touch me Max. Kyle and I never got married. He called it off after he found out I was pregnant. Max the little girl is yours.” Max’s eyes got bigger, as tears ran down Liz’s face. “I laid to you. I did love you. I loved you to much to let you ruin your life, because of me.”

Max was in shock. What had just happened? He leaned against the car, and couldn’t move. Did she say that he had a daughter? She laid to him? For his own sake? He looked over a nervous Liz. “Will you please say something?” Liz almost screamed at him, tears still falling down her face. Max took her in his arms.

“Liz, I love you too.” He pulled her close, and held her in his arms for a few minutes. “What’s her name?” HE got out whipping tears from her eyes.

“Sophie Elizabeth Parker.” She turned, and opened the door to the car. She picked up Sophie, and handed her to Max. Max had tear fall down his face. He was a daddy. She was beautiful little girl. Black straight hair, amber eyes, and her mothers’ features. He gave her a big hug. Sophie wasn’t sure what to make of this man that was hugging her. “Sophie, I want you to meet your daddy.”

Sophie looked up at Max with these beautiful eyes. “DADDY!”

“Yeah, Sophie I’m your daddy. How old is she?” Max asked Liz with allot of interest.

“She’s two years old. MY brother moved back from New York, and has been helping me with her. He turns eighteen in a month.”

“Why didn’t you try to contact me?”

“I wanted you to do what you wanted. I had your daughter, and that was good enough for me. Then when Michael told me you were in town I thought maybe you should know. I’m not going to try to trap you in this. I don’t need your help, I just thought you should know the truth.”

“Liz, I love you. I would do anything to be with you. This is our child, and I want to help you to raise her, if you would have me.” Max sat Sophie on the ground, and sh esat down on the side of the car. He grabbed Liz’s thigh’s and pulled her close to him. Her heart raced, and as he got closer to him. When suddenly for the first time a three years he kissed her.

When they let go. Liz moved quickly and picked up Sophie. Max took her from Liz. Then he look her hand, and they started toward the house. “So how do you think we should tell my parents?” Liz laugh's hystericaly.

The End!!!
