Title: Just a Helpless Human
Author: Sweetie Pie
Disclaimer: The usual
Summary: An old friend brings new complications.
Note: This story takes place after “Heart of Mine” but before “Cry Your Name”. So Alex is still alive. Couple wise: Alex and Isabel are together, Michael and Maria are together, but Max and Liz are apart. Sean does not have feelings for Liz.
I love feedback! I always want to know what my readers think!
Max and Michael are eating lunch at Michael’s apartment. Michael looks at his watch.
“Oh shit. I gotta go.”
“Yeah. If I’m late again Mr. Parker’s gonna kill me! I’ll se ya later.”
When Michael opens the door someone is standing in front of it. Her hand is raised about to knock. Michael is shocked. The girl smiles at him.
“Hi Michael. I’m back.”
Michael rushes at her and pulls her into a tight hug. She just hugs him right back. He is speechless.
“I’ve miss you so much.”
“I’ve missed you too. I’m sorry it took me so long to come home. It was just a little harder than I thought it would be.”
Max hears Michael talking to someone so he walks over to see who’s there. The second Max sees the girl he knows who she is.
“Kristen! Wow, I can’t believe you’re back!”
Max hugs her just as tight as Michael did.
“How are you Max?”
“I’m good. How ‘bout you?”
Both boys suddenly notice a small little girl hiding behind Kristen, clinging to the back of her pants.
“Ah, you noticed my little surprise. Guys this is Faith. She’s two years old, and she’s my daughter.”
At first they both looked a little confused, but then the looked stunned. Max was the first to speak up.
“You have a daughter? You go away for 3 years and come back with a daughter. Gotta say I didn’t expect that.”
“Tell me about it. It’s not easy being a mother at 16, especially when you have no family to help you.”
“Where’s her father?”
“It’s kind of a long story. I’ll tell ya later.”
She bends down and picks up Faith.
“Faith, this is your Uncle Michael, and Uncle Max.”
Michael looks at her with a confused look.
“Well, you guys are like family. They only family I have anymore. So I’ve always told her that you two, Alex, and Kyle are her uncles, and that Isabel, Maria and Liz are her aunts.”
“Oh. Cool. Hi there Faith. It’s nice to meet you.”
“Hi.” Her voice is so soft and innocent that Max and Michael’s hearts melted when they heard it.
“Why are you still standing in the hall, get in here.”
He motions for them to come inside.
“So, are there any other surprises you have for us?”
“No, that’s pretty much it.”
Michael looks at his watch once again.
Kristen covers Faith’s hears.
“Hey, small child in the room.”
“Sorry, but I gotta get to work.”
Max looks at his watch.
“Oh, me too.”
Kristen gets a sad look.
“Hey, why don’t you come to the Crashdown with me? I think Maria and Liz are working today.”
“Okay. So Max I guess I’ll see you later?”
“Yeah I’ll come by the Crashdown later, and if you’re not there ten call me.
“Okay. See ya.”
“Bye. Bye Michael.”
“Later Max. Okay let’s go.”
Michael holds out his hand for Faith to take, and she does. As he leads her out the door Kristen thanks god that she came home.

The second Kristen walks into the Crashdown Maria and Liz run at her, almost making her fall over as they both hug her tightly.
“Hi guys. It’s nice to see you too, but you are now cutting off my air.”
They quickly let go of her. They are both speechless, but it doesn’t take long for Maria to speak.
“I can’t believe this! You’re really back! I’ve missed you!”
“I’ve missed you too.”
Liz finally finds her voice again.
“Wow. It’s been, what, 3 years?”
“Not that I’m not thrilled that you’re back, because I am, but why are you back?”
“I guess I just thought it was time to come home. I missed you all so much, and I kinda wanted to graduate here at home with my family. And by the way this is my daughter Faith.”
Kristen picks up Faith.
“She’s two years old, and the best thing that ever happened to me, well besides all of you. Faith this is your aunt Maria, and aunt Liz.”
“Yeah that how I reacted too.”
“So I’ll tell you what I told him. You guys are like family. The closes thing I have to one. So I’ve always told Faith that all of you are her aunts and uncles.”
Michael smiles when he realizes his girl reacted the exact same way he did.
“Well, I’m so glad that you’re back, but we have to get back to work, and you better get in that kitchen before Mr. Parker kicks your ass.”
“You’re so right.”
He leans down and kisses her, and then they go to work. Kristen grabs Liz’s arm before she can leave.
“When did that happen?”
“Michael and Maria together.”
“Oh, they’ve been on and off for a while now.”
“That’s kinda weird.”
“Yeah. They fight a lot, but when they’re not ready to kill each other, they’re really happy together.”
“Good for them.”
Liz can tell that Kristen is sad about something, but she can also tell that it is something she doesn’t want to share just yet. Normally she would take her to the back room and pry it out of her, but Kristen isn’t like the others. When she doesn’t want to tell you something, she doesn’t. Liz knows that she has to come around on her own time, so she just goes back to work.

Kristen and Faith are in the back talking to Michael. Maria looks at her watch. Her shift is finally over. She goes into the back to see what Michael, Kristen, and Faith are up to.
“So what’s going on back here?”
Kristen turns around.
“Oh nothing. Your shift over?”
“Yes, thank god!”
Kristen and Michael just laugh under their breath.
“So Kris, where are you staying?”
“Nowhere at the moment.”
“Come stay with me. My mom is away for two weeks, so we have plenty of room.”
“That’s so sweet Maria, but I don’t want to intrude.”
“You’re not! Come on. You’re staying with me until you can get your own place, and that’s final!”
Michael leans close to Kristen’s ear.
“Best not argue with her. It’s never pretty. Believe me, I know!”
Kristen tries t hide her laughter behind a smile as she picks up Faith and follows Maria to her Jetta.
“See ya tomorrow Michael.”
By the time they get to Maria’s house they are busting out laughing over old stunts that they pulled growing up. When they walk into the house Sean is on the couch watching T.V. When his eyes met Kristen’s they both looked shocked.
“Oh, I completely forgot you were here. Oh well.”
She turns and looks at Kristen.
“This is just my evil cousin Sean. Sean this is…”
“…Kristen. We know each other.”
Kristen gives him an evil glare.”
“Well, well, if it isn’t Sean Deluca. I’d say it’s nice to see you, but then I’d be lying.”
“Well it is good to see you.”
Faith comes out from behind her mother.
“Mommy, who’s he?”
Kristen picks her up.
“He’s nobody baby.” She looks Sean right in the eyes. “He’s nobody.”
She walks past him and down the hall.
Maria just looks confused.
“What was that all about?”
She looks at Sean. She has never seen him look so hurt before. She can’t understand why there is so much anger and hostility between them.
Sean watches Kristen walk down the hall, and then suddenly looks confused.
“Who was that little she had?”
“That’s her daughter Faith. She's two years old.”
He thinks to himself. ‘Two years old?’
“Where’s the father at?”
“I don’t know. I guess I didn’t think to ask. So how do you two know each other?”
“It’s kind of a long story.”
Sean goes off to the guest room. Maria can’t help but wonder why he won’t tell her how they met, and he’s so curious about Faith’s father. She suddenly gets a horrifying idea. She begins to think out loud.
“No way! It couldn’t be! Could it?”

Kristen can’t sleep a wink. Not with Sean Deluca in the next room. So she just lays there watching her beautiful little girl asleep next to her. She thanks god everyday for sending Faith to her. Her life is hard, but without Faith it would all be meaningless. She hears the door open. She prays it is Maria, but it’s not. Sean is very quiet as he enters the room, not knowing if Kristen and Faith are asleep. He sees that Faith is, but he can tell that Kristen is faking it.
He whispers so he won’t wake up Faith. Kristen opens her eyes in defeat.
“You always could tell.”
“Can we talk?”
She gets up slowly and kisses Faith’s forehead lightly, without waking her. They go into the Kitchen.
“Okay, what do you want to talk about?”
“There is no us Sean. Not anymore. You made sure of that.”
“Don’t Sean. I don’t hear it. I don’t want your apology, or your explanation, or anything else you have to say. So just don’t.”
She starts to walk away.
“Who’s her father Kris?”
She stops in her tracks and turns around.
“That’s none of your business.”
“Isn’t it? Maria told me that she’s two years old.”
“If I remember correctly it was just a little over two years that we were together.”
Kristen refuses to make eye contact with him, hoping he won’t see right through her.
“So did you just go sleep with the next guy you saw after I left?”
She slaps him across the face.
“Bastard! How dare you talk to me like that after what you did!”
“Is she mine or not?”
“Yes she’s yours! Are you happy now? She is your daughter. I have never been with anyone else since you left me.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t even know until after you left.”
“You knew I was related to Maria, you must have! You could have called her to find me! Why didn’t you?”
“Because you left me! Without saying a word you packed your things and left me! I wanted you to be with me because you wanted to be with me, not because you felt obligated!”
She starts to cry.
“You destroyed me Sean! It took me weeks to actually believe that you weren’t coming back. I was all alone Sean. I had no one. All my friends were here, and couldn’t come back to them like that. I was too ashamed. I didn’t have my parents to help me because my pathetic mother is dead, and my drunken father is in jail for killing her and trying to kill me. That’s right I didn’t tell you about that did I? I was so scared. But when I had her and I looked into her eyes the whole world just seemed to fall away. She gave me Faith that life goes on. That’s why I called her Faith. But sometimes even the light in her eyes wasn’t enough. Do you know what it was like for me to be 16 years old, alone in world, with a baby? Do you? Do you Sean?! How could you do that to me?! How could you?!”
By the end she was yelling right in his face. He wanted to hold her and make all her problems go away, but he knew he couldn’t. Now he was crying as well.
“I can’t tell you how sorry I am. But I’m here now! You’re not alone anymore!”
“That’s right, I’m not. I have Michael, Maria, Liz, Max, Isabel, and Alex. And that’s all I need. I want you to stay away from us.”
“No, you can’t do that! I’m her father I deserve to a part of her life!”
“In what way have you been a father to her besides getting me pregnant with her? You’re a stranger to her. She doesn’t even know you!”
“You never gave her the chance to know me!”
“You didn’t deserve that chance!”
“Fine! You want me gone, I’m gone!”
“Yeah that’s what your best at isn’t it?”
He slammed the door shut as he left. She just sat at the table and cried. Neither of them knew that Maria had been listening to the whole conversation. She stood in the hall in shock. She was about to go into the kitchen to comfort Kristen, but then she went to her mothers bedroom. She opened the door and saw that Faith was still asleep. She could believe that she had slept through all that yelling, but she was very glad that she had. A fight like that wouldn’t have been easy to explain to a two year old. She closed the door behind her and sat on the floor next to it. She didn’t know what to do so she just watched that beautiful little girl that was created from all the hatred she had just overheard.

This is a short part, but I felt it needed to end here.
The next morning Michael comes over to Maria’s, but what he finds is not what he expected. He knocks on the door, but no one answers, so he just walks in. In the kitchen Kristen is asleep with her head lying on her arms. He can tell she has been crying, so he walks quietly passed her to Maria’s room, but she isn’t there. Next he goes to Amy’s room. Maria is still on the floor watching Faith sleep. Michael sits next to her and kisses her forehead.
“Did something happen last night?”
Maria explains the entire argument between Kristen and Sean. Now Michael is in shock.
“Sean? I never would have guessed.”
“Me neither. God Michael, they were so angry with each other. I still can’t believe she slept through it. But I’m definitely glad she did.”
Kristen walks in the room and sees them on the floor.
“Michael, when did you get here?”
“A few minutes ago.”
“Oh. Is she still asleep?”
“By the looks on your faces I’m guessing you heard the fight last night and told him.”
“It was kinda hard to miss. I’m sorry if you didn’t want Michael to know, I just…”
“No it’s okay. I’m glad you told him, cause I don’t think I could’ve. She didn’t hear any of it did she?”
“No, she slept through the whole thing.”
“Good. God I don’t know what I’m doing! I can’t believe all the things I said to him!”
“He deserved every bit of it.”
“I guess, but when I said I didn’t want him to be part of our lives, I was just saying that because I was angry. I didn’t mean it. I want him to be part her life, and part of mine. Even after what he did I think I still love him. I don’t know what to do.”
Michael pulls her close to him and hugs her protectively.
“You’ll figure it out. I know you will. You always do.”

Thanks for all the feedback! I love hearing what you all think!
Michael makes the four of them breakfast. They are eating at the Kitchen table and laughing about old times when Sean walks through the door. There is silence as he walks passed them to his room. Kristen gets a sad look on her face. Michael looks at her as if to say ‘Get off your ass and go talk to him!’ She nods in agreement.
When she gets to Sean’s room he is packing his things. He turns around when he heard her come in, but then goes back to packing. She can’t believe he’s doing this again.
“Isn’t that what you wanted?”
“That’s not what it sounded like last night.”
“I was angry last night. And I had a right to be. But I didn’t mean all those things that I said.”
“Yes you did. Don’t lie to me Kris, you meant every word of it. You never say things you don’t mean. And you’re right; you do have a right to be angry. What I did was wrong and stupid. I’ve done a lot of bad things in my life, but that was definitely the worst.”
“Then why did you do it?”
“Because I loved you too much. My life was a mess. I was afraid that I would ruin your life like I ruined mine. I couldn’t do that to you. You were too good to me. You know I… I never stopped loving you.”
She runs to him and kisses him. When the kiss ends they stare into each others eyes. Kristen whispers to him.
“Neither did I. I don’t want you to go.”
“No. I want you to stay and be with me, ands be Faith’s father as you should have been. Please stay.”
“Okay. I’ll stay.”
She smiles and kisses him again, then they hug, never wanting to let go.
They went back into the kitchen holding hands.
Michael looks at them, and then at their joined hands.
“So I take it all is well between you two?”
Kristen smiles and nods.
She bends down in front of Faith.
“Honey, can I talk to you for a minute?”
Faith nods her head and Kristen picks her up and takes her into the living room, with Sean not far behind.
She sits down on the couch and puts Faith next to her. Sean sits on the floor in front of them.
“Honey, do you remember that time you asked me where your daddy was, and I told you he went away?”
“Well he came back. This is your daddy. He came back to us.”
Faith looks at her mother, then at her father. She lunges at him, almost knocking him over. She hugs him tightly, and he hugs her back even tighter.
Kristen is now crying, and Sean is pretty close to it. He is so glad his little girl wanted him in her life. He was afraid she would hate him for not being there before, but she doesn’t.
“I love you Faith!”
“I wuv you too daddy!”
Now Sean is crying as well. Kristen looks toward the doorway, knowing Maria and Michael are watching them. Michael is smiling and Maria is crying. In that moment everything was perfect. Her life suddenly made sense. If only it could’ve stayed that way.

After the hour or so of waterworks at Maria’s, they all went to the Crashdown. Kristen hadn’t gotten to see Isabel or Alex yet so they decide to meet there for lunch. It was still a little early, but Maria had to go to her shift so they all went along.
When Isabel comes through the door and sees Kristen they both run at each other, almost knocking each other over.
“I missed you so much!”
“I missed you too!”
Kristen turns to look at Alex.
“Alex, I see you are still the same charming boy I once knew. I missed you.”
“I missed you too.”
The three of them sit down in a booth Alex and Isabel on one side and Kristen on the other. Isabel and Kristen get into a conversation as Alex just listens.
“God, you guys look so good!”
“So do you sweetie. So how is San Francisco? Things good there?”
“Yeah, things were pretty good.”
“Time out, were? Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“If you think I’m saying that I’m moving back to Roswell then yeah.”
“Oh my god, honey that’s great. It’ll be so wonderful to have you around again.”
“It’s good to be home.”
Alex interrupts them.
“Oh my god.”
“What’s the matter Alex?”
“Sean Deluca is holding a small child, and their laughing together, that’s slightly frightening.”
Kristen just starts laughing.
“I don’t find that funny.”
“I do! That’s our daughter, Faith.”
“And Sean’s daughter?”
“How on earth did that happen/”
Kristen explains everything that has happened from when her and Sean met until this morning.
“Wow. That’s some story.”
“Uh huh. You guys have meet her. Sean, Faith come here.”
Sean comes over with Faith on his back. He sets her down by her mom, and then sits down with them.
“That’s really cute Sean. Did they teach you that in Jail?”
“Play nice boys. Let’s not set a bad example for my two year old.”
They just glare in silent agreement.
Isabel and Kristen look at each other.
“Faith, this is your Aunt Isabel and Uncle Alex.”
“You consider us her aunts and uncles?”
“I think I’m gonna cry.”
The others laugh as Isabel cries. Isabel and Kristen are like sister’s since neither of them have any real sisters. They used to hang out all the time. Isabel is touched that Kristen considers her family.
Maria and Liz are in the back changing for their shifts.
“Liz, you are not going to believe what I found out last night!”
“Who Faith’s father is.”
“Sean, as in your cousin Sean?”
“One in the same.”
“Tell me about it!”
“Did she tell you?”
“Nope. I heard them arguing about it last night. Apparently he didn’t know she was pregnant when he left her two years ago.”
“Are you serious?”
“Totally. And this morning they made up. Now their back together and they told Faith that he was her father and that he’d be with them from now on. She was so excited. She hugged him and told him that she loves him, and he said he loves her. It was the most beautiful and precious moment I have ever seen.”
Max is in the kitchen talking to Michael.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!”
“Kristen and Sean? I thought she said there were no more surprises?”
“I guess she missed one. I swear I’m never letting her out of my sight again. Too much happens when she goes away.”
“I second that. But…”
They finish the sentence together. “…Sean?”

That night Kristen and Faith sleep in Sean’s room, with Faith in between Kristen and Sean. Both Faith and Sean are fast asleep, but Kristen is wide awake. She feels like something bad is going to happen, and soon. She gets up, grabs her jacket, and starts to leave the room. She turns around to look at her beautiful little family for just a moment, feeling like she may never see them again, but she knows that she must find out what’s going on. She grabs her keys and leaves a note on the kitchen table saying she couldn’t sleep so she went for a drive. As she drives she lets her feelings guide her, not knowing where they may take her. She ends up behind the Valenti house to see Tess kicking around trash cans and yelling. She gets out of her car and gets closer to hear what Tess is saying.
“Why can’t they understand?! I’m running out of time! If I don’t get up there with Max’s son soon Kivar will call off the deal! I have to do something now! I swear on my life I will make this deal happen, even if I have to kill every last human to do it!”
Kristen now knows that Tess is the danger she felt. She quickly gets into her car and drives away to Max’s house, but Tess hears her leave and realizes that she heard everything. Suddenly Kristen’s vision gets blurry. She can no longer control the car, and it swerves into the other lane. Another car is coming at her, but it can’t stop in time and smashes directly into Kristen’s side of the car.
Sean hears banging on the door. He wakes up to see that Kristen isn’t there. He gets up quietly so Faith won’t wake up. As he walks to the door Maria gets up as well.
“Who is it?”
“I don’t know.”
Sean opens the door.
“Sheriff. Something wrong?”
Maria can see he is not very happy.
“Kristen was in a car accident. She’s alive, but in critical condition.”
Maria sits down at the table in shock. Sean has to grab the door to keep from collapsing.
“Is she gonna be okay?”
“I don’t know. She’s at the hospital now.”
Faith comes in the kitchen half asleep.
“Daddy, where mommy?”
Sean just runs to her, picks her up and holds her tightly as he cries. He doesn’t know how to tell a two year old that her mother could be dying. Maria turns to the sheriff.
“Have you told the others yet?”
“Yes, I called them. They’re on their way to the hospital now.”
“We should go too.”
Sean nods his head.
Faith looks confused.
“What’s going on?”
“Sweetie, mommy was in an accident.”
“Is she okay?”
Faith is about to cry.
“We don’t know. We have to go to the hospital to find out.”
He carries her to the car and holds her the whole way to the hospital. He feels so helpless. The love of his life, and the one person that accepted him could die. All he can do is hold on tight to the little piece of her that was sitting in his lap.

When Maria, Sean, and Faith get to the hospital everyone except Max, Tess, and Kyle are already there. Maria runs straight to Michael who is crying harder than she has ever seen him cry. He holds her as tight as he can as they both collapse into a chair in the waiting room. Liz is sitting next to them, trying so hard to stay calm and strong for them all. Alex and Isabel are next to them, crying together. Sean sits down as well, with Faith still in his arms.
“Have you guys heard anything yet?”
Liz is they only one calm enough to answer.
“They won’t tell us anything. They just keep saying she’s still in surgery.”
Saying that out loud almost makes her fall apart. No one knows what to say. Faith sees everyone crying and knows that her mom is in trouble. She begins to cry as well. Her father holds her tightly as he cries with her. Max, Kyle, and Tess run in at the same time. Max was the first to speak.
“How is she?”
Mr. Valenti answers.
“We don’t know.”
He starts to fall apart. Tess walks towards him, but he runs to Liz. Although they are not together his first instinct is to hold her tight in his arms. She gladly welcomes his comforting embrace. In that moment they forget everything that has happened between them and just hold, and comfort each other. Kyle drops in an empty seat and begins to cry with everyone else. Tess sits next to him, trying to comfort him. She is obviously hurt that Max went to Liz and not her, but no one notices. After several hours a doctor finally comes to talk to them.
“She is still in critical condition, and she is in a coma. There’s nothing more we can do for her. Now we just have to wait and see what happens.”
Sean nods his head.
“Can we see her?”
“Yes, but one at a time. She’s in room 225.”
He turns to the others.
“Can I go first?”
“Yeah of course.”
They all agree Sean deserves to see her first. He hands Faith to Michael. Once goes in everyone turns to Max.
“Can’t you heal her?”
“I don’t know. This isn’t like a gunshot wound. I’ll try, but it may not work.”
Sean sits down next to Kristen’s bed. He is almost afraid to touch her, but he gently takes her hand in his.
“What have you gotten yourself into now? We’re all really worried about you, you know. Al your friends are right outside. So is Faith. She’s really scared. She misses her mommy. You gotta come back to her, and to me. I finally have you back you can’t leave me now. You can’t go. I won’t let you. We need you, so please don’t go, please. Please stay with me.”
He puts his head down on the bed and cries. He goes back out into the hall so someone else can come see her. He takes Faith back from Michael, and Max goes into Kristen’s room. He looks at her and almost breaks down. He walks to the side of her bed. He puts one hand on her head and the other on her stomach. He then closes his eyes and tries to heal her.
He sees the first time he, Isabel, and Michael met Kristen.
The first time Maria, Liz, and Alex met Kristen.
Kristen’s father beating on her and her mother.
Kristen saying goodbye to everyone and moving to San Francisco.
The first time Kristen met Sean.
Kristen coming home.
Kristen overhearing Tess talk about her deal with Kivar, and that she will kill any human that gets in her way.
Tess making Kristen’s car swerve into oncoming traffic.
The connection is so strong that it knocks Max out. He falls to the floor. Kristen isn’t completely healed but she looks much better than before. She is still unconscious, but she should wake up soon.
In the hall everyone is starting to calm down. Everyone except Sean and Faith. They are still falling apart and no one knows what to do to help them. Alex starts to get a headache. He brings his hands to his head as the pain gets worse. Isabel notices that something is wrong.
“Alex, what’s wrong?”
“My… head… I… ah…”
Alex closes his eyes. The pain is almost too much to bear. Isabel has to help him stay standing.
“Alex what is? Alex?”
Suddenly the pain is gone and his eyes are wide open. He turns to face Tess.
“What have you done to me? What have you done? How could you?”
Tess tried to look confused, but it wasn’t working well.
“What are you talking about Alex?”
Suddenly the door to Kristen’s room flies open. Max is standing in the doorway very pissed off.
“I think you know what he’s taking about.”
“Max, I don’t…”
“Don’t lie to me! I know what you did to Kristen!”
Everyone looks at Max, then at Tess.
“That’s right. Tess made Kristen’s car swerve into oncoming traffic because she overheard Tess talking about a deal she made with Kivar. And that she will kill as many humans as necessary make that deal happen. Isn’t that right Tess?”
Everyone looks at her with angry glares. Alex tells them what he just remembered.
“She used me all summer. She made me think I was in Sweden when I was actually at the university of Las Cruces translating your alien destiny book.”
“I had to find a way home. You have to understand I didn’t have a choice!”
“Bullshit, you’re a traitor!”
“I am trying to save our people. You don’t seem to care about them anymore, someone had to. All you care about you people care about is these stupid humans. You are not human!”
“Yes I am!”
“Fine! You wanna be human then you can die with them!”
She is about to raise her hand to kill them all when Sean grabs her should, turns her around, and punches her hard in the face, knocking her unconscious.
“Nobody messes with my family!”
They all know he doesn’t just mean Kristen and Maria. He means them all. Somehow he has become part of this group without anyone even realizing it. They all completely forgot that he was even there before. They know they have a lot of explaining to after everything he just heard, but after what he just said they know he will be okay with it.

“So you’re telling me that the four of you are aliens?”
“And you guys found out a few years ago.”
“Does Kris know?”
Max is about to say no, but Michael interrupts him.
Everyone looks at Michael with confused glares.
“She knows. One time when I went to her house I accidentally used my powers on her dad to stop him from hurting her. She saw, I explained.”
Max is now getting angry. How could he not have told them about this?
“Why didn’t you tell us?”
“Because I knew you’d be pissed at me for being so stupid.”
Isabel walks up to him with a comforting look on her face.
“It wasn’t stupid. You were protecting her. Max and I would’ve done the same thing. We just wish you’d have told us.”
“It’s okay. As long as it never happens again!”
Sean looks down at Tess who is still unconscious.
“What are we gonna do with her?”
“I think I have an idea. Alex do remember what our alien destiny book said?”
“Yeah. It said how to get you guys back to Antar.”
“Perfect. Where is it?”
“In an abandoned building just outside Las Cruces. Why, are you guys really gonna leave?”
Maria pulls Michael close to her. Alex tightens his arms around Isabel. Liz looks at Max, almost crying. Michael and Isabel are obviously not liking this plan. Michael looks at Max.
“I don’t want to go Max!”
Maria looks up at him with a giant smile on her face. He hugs her even tighter, showing her that he will never leave her.
Isabel looks at Alex.
“Neither do I.”
She kisses Alex softly on the lips. He smiles at her, then holds her close. He is so glad things finally worked out for them.
Max looks at Liz.
“Me neither. I want to send her back. She wants to go home so badly, why not let her. Without us she has nothing up there, but she needs to learn that first hand.”
A nurse comes out of Kristen’s room and walks towards them. They are afraid something is wrong.
“Is she okay?”
“Your friend seems to have healed very quickly. She is breathing on her own, and she’s awake.”
They all run into Kristen’s room. Kristen laughs at how they almost knock each other over trying to get through the door. They spread out and surround her bed. Sean puts Faith on the bed beside Kristen.
“Mommy okay now?”
“Yeah sweetie, mommy’s okay now.”
She looks over at Max.
Kristen suddenly remembers how all this happened.
Max interrupts her.
“We know. We’re taking care of it.”
She then looks at Sean.
“I’m not going anywhere!”
Sean starts to cry. She pulls him into a gentle hug. She is now crying as well. She looks around at the wonderful and yet strange family she has and thanks god for each one of them. Her life wouldn’t be the same without them. Things can get kinda strange around them, but she would have it no other way.

(3 days later)
Max Michael and Isabel walk into Kristen’s hospital room as she is getting ready to leave.
“So how’d it go?”
“Tess is gone forever!”
Sean walks in with a wheel chair.
“Ready to go?”
“Definitely! I hate hospitals!”
She sits down as Maria and Faith walk in.
“We go home now mommy?”
“Yes baby, we’re going home.”
Maria takes Max, Michael, and Isabel in her Jetta, and Sean takes Kristen and Faith in his car. The others race off to Maria’s while Sean takes his good old time helping Kristen and Faith into the car.
“Why are they in such a hurry?”
“I don’t know.”
She can tell that he’s lying, but she is in no condition to try to get it out of him.
Maria, Michael, Max, and Isabel almost knock each other over trying to get into the house. When they get inside Alex, Liz, and Kyle are putting up decorations all over the place.
“Are you almost done? They’re on their way! Sean’s stalling as much as possible he can’t do it for much longer!”
“We’re almost finished. Why don’t you help us set up these last few decorations?”
They finish putting everything up when they hear Sean’s car pull into the driveway.
“They’re here! Hide! Michael hit the lights!”
They all hide behind couches and chairs waiting for Kristen to come in.
When Kristen comes in she is very confused.
“Where is everyone? Why is it so dark in here?”
She turns on the lights and everyone jumps out of there hiding spots.
“Surprise! Happy birthday!”
Kristen looks like she’s about to cry.
“You thought we forgot didn’t you?”
“Honestly, yeah. No one said anything earlier so I just assumed…”
“Oh come on! How could we forget your birthday?”
Michael walks over to her and gives her a big hug. Everyone else does the same.
“Thank you so much! I always wanted a surprise party!”
“We know. That’s why we did it.”
“This is so great!”
She looks down expecting to see faith next to her, but she’s not there.
Sean looks around.
“I don’t know. She was right here next to me.”
“You guys probably scared her. Faith? Faith where are you? Come out sweetie, its okay. Faith? Faith?!”
Now she is starting to panic.
“Oh god Sean, where is she?”
He quickly takes her in his arms.
“It’s okay. We’ll find her. I promise!”

“She’s gone! My baby’s gone!”
Sean is trying his best to stay calm.
“It’s okay. We’ll find her. She probably just wondered off. She couldn’t have gotten far. I’ll drive around town.”
He turns to Max, Liz and Kyle.
“You three walk around the block. She may not have even crossed the street.”
He turns to Maria.
“Call the police.”
Kristen gets even worse when he mentions the police.
“Just in case. I’m sure we’ll find her. I promise we will!”
He kisses her softly on the lips, then goes to look for Faith. Isabel, Michael, and Alex sit down with Kristen and try to calm her. The others do as they were told. A few minutes later Sheriff Valenti is there.
“I’m doing everything I can. I have all my guys out there looking for her.”
Michael can’t stand to see her like this anymore. He goes into Maria’s room and she follows him. He starts to get very angry.
“Michael calm down.”
“Calm down. Calm down? How am I supposed to calm down?”
He gets so angry that he punches through the wall.
“Oh my god Michael are nuts?”
“Possibly. I think my hand is stuck.”
She gently helps him get his hand out of the wall.
“I’ll get Max.”
“Michael you just put your hand through a wall. You can’t even move it. Don’t you want it healed?”
“Our powers can’t help her, why should they help me?”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“It means that isn’t fair! We have all this power and we can’t do a damn thing to help her!”
He looks like he’s about to cry.
“She’s in there crying and worried and I can’t help her. It’s not fair and it’s not right! You know I was the first one out of all of us to meet her. She was the first friend I ever had. She and I became friends even before I found Max and Isabel again. We understood each other. We took care of each other. Now her daughter’s missing and I can’t do anything to help her. I hate feeling like this!”
“Like… like a helpless human.”
He breaks down and collapses on the floor. Maria dives to his side and holds him in her arms. She cups his face with her hands and looks him in the eye.
“You are not helpless! And you are certainly human!”
They both laugh a little.
“Maybe your alien powers won’t help faith, but you can still help. You can go out and look for her, or you can do what you were already doing, help Krissy stay calm. I think you help her more than any of us.”
“Thanks. What would I do without you?”
“I don’t wanna know!”
She leans in and kisses him. He then gives her a giant hug. ‘That’s my Maria. She always knows exactly what to do. I love her. She deserves to know that.’
They were interrupted by yelling coming from the front door.
“I found her! I found her!”
Sean comes in with Faith in his arms and a giant smile on his face. Faith looks like she has been crying. Kristen runs to them and takes Faith in her arms.
“Sweetie where did you go? I was worried sick about you!”
“I found her at the Crashdown. She got scared when you guys jumped out at us and ran off, but she didn’t know where she was going. She recognized the Crashdown so she stayed there for someone to find her.”
“Honey, don’t you ever run off like that again! You made mommy’s heart jump into her throat!”
“Sorry. I wuv you mommy.”
“I love you too.”

Now that they all know Faith is safe they can go home. Michael insists on staying a little while longer. Alex takes Isabel home, Kyle takes himself home, and Max says he’ll take Liz home.
“That’s okay Max, I’ll walk.”
She is about to walk out the door, but Maria steps in her way.
“Liz, let him take ya home.”
It sounds more like a command than a suggestion.
“Okay, fine. Let’s go.”
Max lips ‘Thank you’ to Maria. She lips back ‘your welcome’.
Max and Liz get into the jeep, but Liz notices that Max is going the wrong way.
“Max, this isn’t the way home. Where are we going?”
“Where we can be alone. We need to talk.”
“There is no us!”
“That’s exactly what I want to talk about.”
Finally he pulls over in the middle of the desert.
“Max, take me home!”
“No, not until we talk.”
“Liz, I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, I know that. But if there’s one thing I’ve done right, it’s loving you. Even after everything that’s happened, I still love you, and I always will. We are meant to be together. You are my destiny, no one else. For as long as I live that will never change. I want us to be together, forever and always.”
Liz is fighting back tears. Max can’t stand the silence.
She leans in and kisses him more passionately than she ever has. When the kiss ends she looks deep into his eyes and starts to cry.
“I love you too.”
Now Max begins to cry. He gives her a deep kiss, then holds her tight, never wanting to let go.
Michael is still at Maria’s, making sure that Kristen and Faith are alright. When they are finally asleep, along with Sean, he goes into Maria’s room with her.
“Hey Spaceboy, you think you could fix that hole you made in my wall?”
“Oh yeah, sorry bout that.”
“That’s okay. No big deal.”
He waves his hand over the hole and it disappears.
“Maria, we need to talk.”
She sits down on the bed next to him.
“Not here. Not with them in the next room. Would you come to my place for dinner tomorrow night?”
“Sure what time?”
“8 sound good?”
“Yeah, I’ll be there
He kisses her forehead, then her lips. He then gets up and goes home.
Maria is very confused. He sounded pretty serious. What could be so serious that he couldn’t say it then?

The next morning Sean is up first. He is in the kitchen making breakfast when Maria gets up.
“Don’t look so surprised.”
“But I am.”
“No problem. Krissy and Faith still asleep?”
“Yep. Maria, I need your help with something.”
“You need my help?”
“Yeah, I need a girls perspective on something I’m planning to do.”
“And that is?”
“I’ll tell you later. Will you help me?”
“I guess so.”
He gets up and puts everyone’s breakfast on the table. He is about to go wake up Kristen and Faith, but they walk in, half asleep, just as he gets to the door way.
“You made breakfast!”
“Yes I did.”
He walks over to her and gives her a soft kiss. Then he takes Faith and kisses her on the forehead.
After breakfast Sean and Maria grab their coats to leave.
“Where are you off to?”
“We have some… errands to run.”
She can tell that he’s lying, but she doesn’t bother arguing.
“Bye sweetie, bye Kris.”
They go into town to a jewelry store. They go in and Sean heads straight for engagement rings.
“Starting to get the picture?”
“You’re gonna propose?”
“Oh my god, that’s great!”
She hugs him in excitement.
“Thanks. Now what I need your help with is ring to get.”
“Okay, how bout this one?”
“Do I look like a millionaire?”
“Fine this one.”
“I’m not that cheap!”
“Oh, this one, it’s perfect!”
“Okay, this one it is.”
“Now how are you gonna ask?”
“I’m not sure yet.”
“I have an idea.”
“Should I be afraid?”
“Do you want to hear it or not?”
“Okay what is it?”
The phone rings at Maria’s house. Kristen picks it up.
“Deluca residence. Oh hi Michael. Sure, where? The Crashdown? Okay I’ll be there in a few minutes. Bye.”
She hangs up the phone and turns to her daughter.
“Come on sweetie. We’re gonna go see Uncle Michael.”
She picks up Faith and walks to the Crashdown, not knowing the surprise in store for her.
posted on 24-Jul-2002 3:28:18 PM by Sweetie Pie
She walks into the Crashdown and sees Michael in a booth. He walks up to her and takes Faith.
“Hey. So what do you need to talk about?”
Sean grabs her arm from behind and turns her around.
“Actually he didn’t need to talk to you, I did.”
“Then why didn’t you just call me?”
“Because I wanted to surprise you.”
He turns around and yells so everyone in the Crashdown can hear him. Max, Liz, Isabel, Alex, and Kyle walk in just in time.
“Can I have everyone’s attention please? I have something I need to say.”
Maria walks over to Michael and takes his hand. She couldn’t wait to hear what he was going to say. She came up with the idea to do it at the Crashdown in front of everyone. She also had Michael call her to get her here, but she didn’t tell him what to say. This was all him.
He turns back around and looks Kristen right in the eyes.
“Kris, I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life. I know that, you know, pretty much everyone here knows that. I once asked myself ‘what have I done right in my life?’ The only thing that comes to mind is you. You and faith. Being with you, making that beautiful little girl with you. Those are the best times in my life. You two are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I want that to last forever. Will you do me the honor…”
He gets down on one knee, takes out the ring, and takes her left hand in his.
“… of marrying me?”
Kristen has to wipe away her tears to see him. She can’t believe he is really proposing.
“Yes! I will marry you!”
He gets up, hugs her tightly, and spins her around as everyone cheers, especially their friends. Faith is so excited. Her mommy and daddy are getting married! Sean takes her from Michael and spins her around as well. None of them can stop smiling. The whole gang gathers around Kristen and Sean to say congratulations and to look at the ring. The girls steal Kristen away to the back room.
“Oh my god!”
Kristen turns to Maria.
“Did this have anything to do with the ‘errands’ you two had to run today?”
“Yeah, ya caught us. Do you like the ring? I helped him pick it out.”
“Do I like it? Honey it’s beautiful! Thank you so much!”
“Everyone one of you are gonna be in my wedding!”
Now the wedding Nazi starts her rampage.
“We will help you with everything. This is going to be the best wedding ever! I will personally make sure everything goes perfectly for you.”
She gives her a hug. She is grateful for the help, but at the same time afraid of what she might do.
The guys are telling Sean what a great speech that was.
“That was perfect man.”
“Totally perfect. You could see her go all weak in the knees. It was awesome.”
“Yeah, she definitely loved it! She did say yes!”
That night Max and Isabel agree to watch Faith so Sean and Kristen can have some time alone. As promised, Maria goes to Michael’s apartment. She knocks on the door and he let’s her in. Maria arrives at Michael's to find the room lit with candles a dinner made, and the table set.
“I know you like Italian, so... And I know Scooby's your favorite.”
“What's going on?”
“What's this all about?”
“Sit down please. There's a lot about you Maria. There's a lot about you, but I think what means the most to me is that you're open. You know I can look into your eyes and I can see you. I can see what you're thinking. I can see what you're feeling. How much I mean to you sometimes, how much I piss you off sometimes. But I can always see you.”
“I see you too.”
“No, no you don't see me. You know when Max and Liz would kiss, and Liz would get the flashes? And when we would kiss you didn't. I know how much that hurt you.”
“That doesn't matter to me anymore Michael.”
“The reason you didn't get the flashes is because I didn't let you get them. I didn't let you see me. I've never let anyone see me before...because there are things inside of me that I don't want people to see. There are things inside of me that I'm not so proud of. But I've thought about it, and I want you to see me. Take my hands.”
Maria gets flashes of Michael as a little kid, leaving the pod, fighting with Hank, finding Max and Isabel in the desert, and then flashes of their time together.
When she opens her eyes she can’t believe what she he just showed her. She thought he’d never open up, but he finally has. She leans in and gives him a passionate kiss.
“I love you Michael.”
“I love you too.”
He pulls her close to him and kisses her even more passionately than before. Without breaking the kiss he picks her up and carries to the bedroom.
Isabel and Faith are staring out Isabel’s window. She is showing Faith all the constellations she knows. Faith finds it fascinating. Max taps Isabel on the shoulder.
“You do realize she can’t even pronounce half of those names.”
“Neither can you.”
He gives her an evil glare.
“Come on Faith. Let me show you what your mommy and I used to do.”
He takes to the backyard. They lay on the grass, with Faith on top of Max.
“Your mom and I could never remember all those constellations your Aunt Izzy was showing you, so we made up our own. See look right there.”
He points up to a certain spot in the sky.
“What shape do you see?”
“Oh yeah, what about there?”
He points to another spot.
“A kitty. This is fun! Come play!”
She motions for Isabel to join them, and she does. She lies down next to Max.
“Right there I see a rocket.”
“Over here I see a notebook.”
“A sock, a sock.”
They are glad Faith is enjoying this. It reminds them of all the fun they had with Kristen when they were kids. Faith is so much like her mother.
Maria and Michael are laying in each others arms after making love.
“I think we just took a huge step in human-alien relations.”
“I’d say so.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too. You wanna go eat now?”
“No, I just wanna lay here with you for a while.”
He pulls her closer to him. He still can’t believe he let her see who he really is, but is very glad he did.

The next morning Maria wakes up in Michael’s arms. She loves being in his arms. She feels safe, protected, and loved. She looks up at him to see that he has been watching her sleep.
“How long have been watching me.”
“A few hours.”
He starts smoothing out her hair and touching her face. He loves her. He loves his Maria.
“We should probably get up.”
“Kristen and Sean might wonder where I am.”
“And yet I can’t make myself leave your arms.”
“I have to.”
She reluctantly gets up and gets dressed. Soon after Michael does the same. Maria suddenly realizes something.
“Oh shit, what is it?”
“I don’t know.”
“It’s Monday! We should have been at school hours ago!”
She is rushing to get ready when he puts his arms around her waist from behind. He whispers in her ear.
“Shh. It’s no big deal. They’re not gonna kill us for skipping one day.”
She calms down and leans into him.
“I guess you’re right. After everything we’ve been through I think we deserve a little time off.”
“And I know exactly how we can spend that time.”
They both smile. She turns around and kisses him. Just as the night before, he picks her up and carries her into the bedroom.
Liz, Max, Alex, Isabel, and Kyle are having Lunch together. Liz is worried about Maria.
“Where are they?”
Max puts his arms around his overreacting girlfriend.
“I’m sure they’re fine. Michael had a special dinner planed last night. They probably fell asleep and forgot today was Monday.”
“You’re probably right.”
Liz started to relax. She leaned into Max and he kissed her forehead.
Maria is once again lying on top of Michael. He is just staring down at the beauty in his arms.
“You are so beautiful.”
“You want a drink?”
“Be right back.”
He kisses he forehead, throws on his boxers and goes to the kitchen. Maria grabs Michael’s shirt from the floor and puts it on. As she climbs back into bed she notices a light blue glow coming from her stomach. She lifts the shirt to see two glowing handprint on her stomach. Under normal circumstances she’d be freaking out right now. She was only 17. She hadn’t even finished her junior year of high school, but all she can do is smile. She loves Michael and now she’s carrying his children. She couldn’t be happier.
When Michael comes back into the room Maria is still staring at her stomach and almost crying. He rushes to her side.
“Baby, what’s wrong?”
He looks down at her stomach and sees the glowing handprints. When he looks back up at Maria she is smiling at him.
“I’m pregnant with twins!”
Now Michael is almost crying. He takes her hand in his and puts them both over top of the glowing handprint. They both get flashes of two newborns, a boy and a girl. The best of both of them. When the flash ends he pulls her close to him and whispers in her ear.
“It’s gonna be okay. I’ll take care of you. All three of you. I promise!”
“I know you will.”

Maria has fallen asleep in Michael’s arms once again, but he can’t sleep. The love of his life is pregnant with his children. He is way too excited to sleep. He has never been so happy in his entire life. He was startled by a knock at the door. Quietly, without waking Maria he gets up and answers the door.
“Hey Kris. Come on in.”
“Hi. Max called me and told me you two weren’t at school. I thought I’d come by and make sure you’re alright.”
“Yeah we’re fine. Maria’s asleep.”
“What’s going on?”
“What do you mean?”
“I have never seen you so happy. And I’ve known you for a long time. You’re practically glowing, so out with it.”
“Yeah, last night we… ya know.”
“And you know already?”
“I am an alien.”
“Oh right. Well congratulations.”
She gives him a big hug.
“Thanks. I’m not sure the others will react so nicely.”
“Probably not. But I’ve been there. I know how much you need the support, so I’m here for you, both of you, and your baby.
“It’s twins. A boy and a girl.”
“That pretty much sums it up.”
Maria comes walking in the room, half asleep. She stands right in front of Michael and leans back on him.
Maria lifts her shirt to show Kristen the two glowing handprints.
She touches both handprints and gets the same flash that Maria and Michael got of them as infants.
“How are you gonna tell the guys?”
“Well we both have to work until closing tonight at the Crashdown so we can just gather them then and tell them all at once.”
“Sounds like a good plan.”
That night at the Crashdown Michael watches Maria like a hawk. He wants to make sure the three of them are safe. They don’t know how this pregnancy will go because of Michael’s alien side. She just needs to be sure that Maria and his children are in no danger. Maria notices Michael’s overprotection right away, but she isn’t bothered by it. She knows that he is only looking out for her and their children. ‘Their children’ she loves saying that in her head. She just hopes that the others will be as supportive as Kristen. After closing they gather everyone together to tell them the good news.
“Guys we have something we need to tell you.”
Maria looks at Michael with a nervous look.
“Maria’s pregnant with twins.”
She lifts up her shirt to show them the two handprints. The room is silent, but not for long. Max stands up to be heard.
“When did this happen?”
They can tell that he is getting angry.
“Pretty much today.”
“How could you be so irresponsible?! What were you two thinking?!”
“Don’t yell at her! I know this may not be the timing, but we’re happy about this!”
“How can you be happy about this?! You two are 17 years old?!”
Kristen rushes to Michael defense.
“I was only 15 when I had Faith. What does that make me?”
“This isn’t about you!”
“Maybe not, but it’s about something that happened to me too! I know what it’s like!”
The three of them keep arguing for quite a while. Maria starts to feel a sharp pain in her stomach. It hurts so much that when she first tries to yell for Michael it comes out a whisper.
She falls to the floor as she screams.
Everyone stops. Michael runs to Maria.
“Oh god Maria, are you okay? What is it baby, what’s wrong?”
“I don’t know. It hurts. Michael it hurts.”
She starts crying. Michael doesn’t know what to do. He squeezes her hand in one of his and massages her stomach with the other. When he touches the handprints he gets a flash of them growing inside of Maria.
“They’re growing Maria, that’s what it is. Look.”
He puts her hand on her stomach so she can also watch the twins grow. When the flash ends the pain is gone and Maria is smiling again. Michael pulls her close to him, and holds her tight. She tries to hold him as well, but she is very weak. He picks her up and carries her to the Jetta.
“I’m taking her home. She needs to rest.”
He carefully puts her in the passenger seat and buckles her up. When he turns around Max is standing in front of him.
“I’m sorry. You need my support more than my lectures. I’m here if you need me.”
He gives him a quick hug, and then drives Maria back to his place. He carries her upstairs and lays her on the bed. He kneels on the floor beside her and just stares at her.
“Yeah, but I’ll feel really good if you lay up here with me.”
He kicks off his shoes and throws his jacket to the floor. He climbs into the bed and Maria snuggles into his chest. He holds her close, and protectively. He was so scared in the Crashdown when Maria collapsed. He was afraid he was going to lose her and the twins. He can’t lose her. She’s his whole life, his whole world. Without her life wouldn’t be worth living.

When Michael woke up the next Morning Maria is no longer in his arms, and he panics. He hears someone singing in the kitchen. Thank god. It’s Maria. He gets up and walks into the kitchen. He sneaks up behind her and puts his arms around her waist. She leans her head back into his chest.
“You should be resting.”
“I have been, but I couldn’t sleep anymore. I suddenly have all this energy, probably from the twins.”
“You didn’t have much energy last night.”
She can feel his concern.
“Honey, I’m okay. Watching them grow inside me was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Yes it hurt, a lot, but you were there by my side. You helped me get through it. As long as I have you I’ll be fine, and so will they.”
She gives him a soft kiss on the lips, and then goes back to making breakfast.
“What are you making?”
“Eggs and toast. The toast is on the table.”
She finishes the eggs, puts them on two plates, and brings them over to the table. Michael sits down and pulls her into his lap. They feed each other breakfast, and then go to the couch to watch T.V.
“What shall we watch?”
“We are not watching a chick flick!”
“Hey, I’m the one who’s pregnant and going through more pain then I should because you’re not of this earth.”
“And your point is?”
“My point is give me the remote.”
“Michael give it!”
She climbs on top of him, but he keeps it just out of her reach.
“Michael, I swear to god I’m gonna hurt you!”
He just laughs as she tries to hit him.
“I don’t think so Blondie.”
She starts tickling him all over.
“Damn it Maria, stop that!”
“Not until you give me the remote!”
“Okay, okay I give!”
He hands her the remote. She stands up and dances around in victory. He finds it hilarious considering she is only wearing his t-shirt. ‘God I love this girl!’
Faith, Sean, and Kristen are at Maria’s watching ‘The Beauty & the Beast’ at Faiths request. They are watching the scene when Bell and the Beast are dancing.
“Dance with me daddy.”
He picks her up and starts dancing with her. Then he puts her back down.
“How bout you dance with your teddy, and I dance with mommy?”
She picks up her teddy bear and starts spinning around the room. Sean walks over to Kristen.
“No, Sean, no!”
“Come on mommy, dance.”
Sean pulls her off the couch.
“You are an evil man.”
“That’s why ya love me.”
“What can I say? I have a weakness for bad boys.”
He is obviously being sarcastic.
“Yeah, it’s just terrible.”
They both laugh.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”

Maria and Michael are fighting for the remote again.
“Maria, I’m not watching this!”
“Come on Michael, just give it a chance. You might like it.”
He starts chasing her around the room.
Her laughing suddenly stops and she collapses to the floor. Michael laughter stops as well.
He is instantly by her side, clutching her hand tightly.
“Is it the twins? Are they growing again?”
“Yeah. God Michael, it hurts! Make it stop please!”
He starts massaging her stomach as he did before. It is helping a little, but she is still in pain. He doesn’t know what to do.
“Shh. It’s okay. I’m here. You’re alright. You’re alright now. Shh. Shh.”
He carries her to the bedroom and lays her down next to him, keeping her close so she feels safe. She is latched onto him. He can feel her fear. He suddenly notices something that he hadn’t before. Her stomach has grown. She now looks about three or four months pregnant. He can’t believe how fast the twins are growing. At this rate this pregnancy will only last a few more days.
She looks up at him with those beautiful green eyes.
“I know what I want to name them.”
“Oh yeah, what?”
“When we saw the flash of them as newborns they looked like perfect little angels, so that’s what we should name them after. Her name should be Angel Marie Guerin, and his should be Gabriel Michael Guerin.”
She pulls her closer and kisses her forehead as she drifts off to sleep.
The next day Maria wears baggy cloths to school so no one will notice that she’s pregnant. She can’t wait to show Liz how much they’ve grown. Although it does hurt a lot when they get bigger she is okay with it because they are her children, hers and Michael’s. On the way to school she realizes that there is someone they forgot about.
“Michael, what are we gonna tell my mom?”
Michael couldn’t believe they had forgotten about her mother. She’s gonna kill him when she finds out about this.
“I don’t know. We’ll figure something out. Don’t worry.”
He takes her hand in his and smiles at her. She relaxes and smiles back. She knows that he will take care of everything.
They walk into school hand in hand. Michael is afraid to let her out of his site after last night. It helps her for him to be there when the twins grow. What if it happens again and he’s not with her? She can tell he is going to be overprotective, but she thinks it’s sweet that he cares so much.
“Hey. How are you?”
She puts her hands over her stomach to show that she means her and the twins.
“I came up with names last night.”
“Angel and Gabriel.”
“Oh that’s so cute.”
Max sees them and walks over to say hello.
“Hi Max. Oh, come in the eraser room for a minute. I want to show you something.”
All four of them go into the eraser room. Maria lifts up her shirt to show them how much her stomach has grown.
“I’m confused. It’s only been two days and you already look at least 3 months pregnant.”
“I know it’s strange. We don’t know why this is happening so fast but it is.”
The bell rings.
“We better get to class.”
Michael is thanking god that he and Maria have periods one, two, and three together. When they go to class he never takes his eyes off of her, and she notices right away. Every now and then she gives him a funny look to make him smile, but after a few minutes his worried look returns. At lunch they sit with the others as always. He pulls her into his lap and she lays her head on his shoulder. Everyone can tell that Michael is worried about Maria. He doesn’t try to hide it. They all think it’s very sweet. They are just glad that he and Maria are happy. Maria gets up from the table.
“Liz come to the bathroom with me.”
She turns to Michael.
“I’ll be right back. Relax.”
She and Liz go to the ladies room.
“Liz, you will not believe how sweet he is being.”
“I might. I’ve never seen him so concerned about anything. You really love him huh.”
“I really do. When he holds me I feel so safe and loved. It’s like we have this connection now. He is so wonderful. You know last night he actually started talking to the twins.”
“Oh my god.”
“Yeah. It was the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen.”
“I’ve never seen him so happy.”
“He loves you.”
Maria can’t stop smiling. Liz loves seeing her best friend so happy. They start talking about their boyfriends and how wonderful they’ve become, but suddenly Maria feels the twins begin to grow again. She collapses to the floor.
“Oh my god Maria!”
“Get Michael! Hurry!”
The pain is even worse this time, almost to much for her to take. She needs Michael!
Liz runs to their lunch table.
“Michael you gotta hurry, Maria’s…”
Before she can even finish the sentence Michael gets up and rushes to the girl’s bathroom with the others not far behind. When they get there Maria is laying on the floor screaming for Michael. He dives to her side, takes her hand, and starts massaging her stomach like before, but this time it’s not helping. He pulls her into his arms.
“I’m here baby. I’m here.”
Isabel uses her powers to seal the door shut. They can all see how scared Michael is, but no one knows what to do. Michael looks up at Max with tears in his eyes.
“Can’t you do something?”
“I don’t know.”
He bends down next to Maria. She is still screaming. This is lasting much longer than before. Max tries to help her with his powers, but nothing happens.
“I’m sorry. It’s not working.”
Michael holds her closer, knowing that the only thing that will help her is to be in his arms. The pain is starting to go away. He can feel that she is weak. He looks at her stomach. She now looks about six months pregnant. She looks up at him as she cries.
“Can we go home?”
“Yeah, we can go home.”
She gently lifts her up and carries her to the Jetta as she cries into his shirt.
“Shh. It’s okay. I’m here. It’s okay.”
He doesn’t know what else to say. He just tries to let her know that he is there with her, and that he will take care of her. No matter what.

Michael takes Maria back to his place. He lays her on the bed and holds her tight. She is so scared and he knows it, but he doesn’t know what to do to help her so he says the only thing that comes to mind.
“I love you Maria.”
“I love you too.”
Her voice is barely a whisper because she is almost asleep. A few minutes later she is fast asleep. Michael hears a knock on the door and only gets up to answer it because he doesn’t want it to wake her. He opens the door to see Kristen with a terrified look on her face.
“Is she okay? Isabel called me and told me what happened. Is she alright?”
“She’s okay for now. She’s asleep.”
He steps to the side so she can come in.
“Thank god! I was so worried I had to come over. I hope that’s okay.”
“Of course, you’re always welcome here.”
“Are you okay?”
“Not really. I have never been more scared in my entire life. I hate seeing her in so much pain. This is my fault. I got her pregnant. None of this would be happening if I had been more responsible.”
“Don’t do that. This is not your fault.”
“Yes it is.”
“No, it isn’t. Were you trying to get her pregnant? Did you force her to sleep with you against her will? No. None of us knew what would happen if a human got pregnant from one of you. And you didn’t mean for this to happen.”
“But it did. No matter what I meant to do this happened. She’s hurting because of me and there’s nothing I can do to help her.”
Neither of them knows that Maria is listening to the conversation.
“You are helping.”
Michael whips around when he hears Maria’s voice. He gets up and helps her over to the couch.
“Just by being here, by holding me in your arms you’re helping me. I probably would have died the first time they started to grow if you hadn’t been there. Hearing your voice, looking into your eyes helps me. And this is as much my fault as it is yours, so don’t blame yourself.”
He gives her a soft kiss and then pulls her close to him. Kristen smiles at their beautiful new love. She knew they’d be together one day. She’s been telling Michael that since the third grade.
“Well I should get back home. I don’t want to leave Sean alone with Faith for too long.”
“I’m sure she’ll be fine.”
“Oh I’m not worried about her, I’m worried about him.”
They all laugh. It’s good to see Maria laugh again. Kristen leaves. Michael looks at Maria and suddenly notices how sick she looks.
“Why did you get up? You’re too weak to be walking around.”
“I got scared when I woke up and you weren’t there. I came to find you.”
“I’m still here. I’m never gonna leave you Maria. Never.”
“I promise. It’s gonna be you and me forever.”
“Sounds good to me.”
“You wanna watch some T.V? I’ll even let you pick.”
They smile at each other. Maria snuggles closer to him and he holds her tight to prove that he’s still here.
When Kristen gets back Sean and Faith are in the Kitchen covered in flour and still throwing at each other.
“Whoa! What happened here?”
“We tried to make cookies, but it turned into a flour war. Here have some.”
He dumps flour all over her.
“I’m gonna kill you!”
“Faith get mommy with the flour.”
Faith starts throwing flour at her mother.
“No, honey don’t throw flour at mommy. Stop! Sean you’re dead!”
He runs into the other room and she chases him around the house.
She finally tackles him in the living room.
“Ha Ha. Gotcha.”
“Okay you win, I give up.”
Faith comes over and dumps a bowl of flour on both their heads. She starts laughing at her ridiculous looking parents.
“Let’s get her.”
Faith tries to run, but Sean picks her up and Kristen starts tickling her.
“You think you’re funny huh? How funny is this? Huh? Huh?”
After several minutes of tickling Faith Sean puts her down. Kristen starts to brush herself off.
“I think its bath time.”
“Yes! You’re covered in flour.”
“So are you and daddy.”
“Well we’re going to take a shower after we bath you.”
Sean smiles realizing that she said a shower and not showers. God he loves this girl.

Michael looks down at Maria to see that she has fallen asleep. He carefully caries her to the bedroom and lays her down. She looks so peaceful and beautiful. He lays down next to her and just watches her sleep. She starts to shiver, so he covers her with a blanket, but he soon realizes that she’s not cold, she’s having a nightmare. She is saying something, but her voice is so low that he can’t hear what it is. Suddenly her eyes shoot open.”
Michael quickly pulls her close to him as she cries.
“Shh. It’s okay baby. It’s okay. It was just a dream. It was just a dream.”
“Oh god Michael, it was terrible.”
“You wanna tell me about it?”
“I had the twins. They were so beautiful. I was holding them, and then someone came and took them away. He looked like an FBI agent. He took away our babies. I tried to stop him, but I couldn’t. I…”
He takes her hand in his and puts them over her stomach. The handprints start to glow brighter.
“See Maria, it’s okay, they’re still here. They’re fine.”
“It felt so real.”
“It’s okay. Shh. I won’t let anyone hurt them. I promise. No one is gonna harm them, ever. It was just a dream. It was just a dream.”
Now he’s not sure who he’s trying to convince. Could this dream be real? Could the FBI be coming for his children? Will he be able to protect them?
After putting Faith down for a nap, and taking their shower, Kristen and Sean sit down on the couch. Sean pulls her into his lap. He looks into her beautiful blue eyes. Her eyes are so deep that he gets lost in them sometimes. That’s how he first fell in love with her. Suddenly she says something he never expected to hear.
“I want to go see my father.”
He is thrown back to reality. He can’t believe what he just heard.
“I want to go see my father.”
“To tell him about Faith, and about you, and everything else that’s happening.”
“Do you really think he cares?”
“It doesn’t matter. I want him to know.”
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
“I need to do this.”
“Okay I’ll take you. We’ll get one of the guys to watch Faith.”
She gives him a soft kiss on the lips then snuggles into his chest. It won’t be easy seeing her father again. She hasn’t seen him in almost 8 years, since he went to jail for killing her mother. He didn’t mean to kill, but he did. Michael’s right. It what you do that matters, not what meant to do.
They drive over to Alex’s house. Kristen carries a half asleep Faith to the door. She knocks and a few minutes later Alex answers.
“Hi Alex. I need a big favor. Could you watch Faith for a little while?”
“Sure, but why?”
“I’m going to see my dad.”
“Oh. Well yeah I can take her.”
“Thank you so much! You’re the best!”
She hands him Faith and her bag.
“She has her teddy. In the bag is her juice, some cookies, and her favorite Dr. Seuss books. If she can’t sleep, or she gets cranky just read her those and she’ll be out like a light.”
“Thank you so much Alex!”
“No problem. Now get going.”
“See ya. Good Luck!”
Alex takes her inside and brings her to his room.
“Are you tired?”
“Are you hungry?”
“Are you thirsty?”
“Okay. What do you want to do?”
She shrugs. There is a knock at the door.
“You want to come get the door with me?”
He picks her up and carries her to the door. She lays her head on his shoulder as he opens the door.
“Hey. Hi there Faith.”
She walks in and gives Alex a kiss on the cheek.
“I’m watching her while Kris goes to see her dad.”
“She’s going to see her dad?”
“That’s gotta be rough.”
“So Faith, what do you want to do?”
“I don’t know.”
“Well how bout we play a game?”
They both look at Alex.
“Well I have monopoly, Sorry…”
“Well I guess we’re playing Sorry. Here take her and I’ll go get it.”
He hands Faith to Isabel, and she goes into the living room to wait for him.
Sean and Kristen get to the jail just outside of Roswell where her father is serving his time.
“Are you sure you’re ready for this?”
“Yeah, I’m ready. Stay here. I want to go alone.”
“Okay. I’ll be right here when you get back.”
He gives her a sweet kiss then sends her inside. She slowly walks up to the door of the facility. She goes through security and is sent into a big room where others are also visiting people. She sees her father sitting at a table in the far corner. She walks over and sits down across from him. Neither of them knows what to say.
“Why did you come here?”
“We haven’t spoken in 5 years and all you have to say is why did you come here? If you didn’t want to see me then you should have just said so.”
She starts to get up, but he grabs her hand.
She sits back down.
“I’m glad you came. I always wonder how you are, what you look like. You look just like your mother.”
“She always said I would.”
“How are you?”
“Happy. I have a daughter, Faith. She’s two years old.”
She pulls out a picture of her, Faith, and Sean from her pocket.
“That’s my fiancé, Sean. He’s her father. He left me two years ago, before he knew I was pregnant, but when I came back to Roswell about a week ago he was there. Now we’re back together. He proposed just the other day right in front of everyone. Faith is so excited. It’s good to be home.”
“She’s beautiful. What did you tell her about me?”
“I told her that when my mom died you got really sad and had to leave me. I just left it at that.”
He looks like he’s about to cry.
“I just came to tell you about them, and that I’m okay. I just wanted you to know that I’m happy with my life. And I want to tell you that… I forgive you.”
“Why? I don’t deserve to be forgiven.”
“You’re right, you don’t. You know I once asked mom why she always forgave you after everything you did. She said because forgiveness isn’t deserved, it’s needed, on both sides. She was right. You need me to forgive you so that you can forgive yourself, and I need to forgive you so I can move on.”
“I am sorry for what I did. I never wanted to either of you.”
“I know dad. I know. I do have one good memory of you. I was about five years old. It was the middle of the night and I woke up from a nightmare. I went into your room and climbed onto the bed. I told that I had a night mare, and you looked over and saw that mom was still asleep and you didn’t want to wake her so you took me to the park. Of course it was deserted; I mean it was like two in morning. I looked up at you and I asked you ‘Daddy can people fly?’, and you said ‘No baby, but you can because you’re an angel, and all angels can fly.’ I had always wanted to fly so I said ‘Help me fly daddy, help me fly.’ And you put me up on your shoulders and ran around the park. I held my arms out and closed my eyes and I really felt like I was flying. That was one of the best nights of my life, and I will never forget it.”
Now they are both crying.
“I’m sorry I stopped being that man, but I need you to know that I never stopped loving you.”
“I know. I love you to.”
She gets up and walks around to the other side of the table. He stands up and she gives him a tight, loving hug.
“I love you daddy. I will always love you.”
When they finally let go of each other he looks down at the picture of her, Faith, and Sean.
“May I keep this?”
“Yeah. Next time I come I’ll bring more.”
“I’d like that.”
“Goodbye my angel.”
She gives him another quick hug and leaves. Sean is still waiting by the car when she comes out. She is crying even worse then before. Once she gets to him she collapses in his arms. He holds her tight, trying to comfort her.
“Shh. It’s okay. It’s okay.”
He picks her up and carries her to the passenger side of the car. He sits her down and buckles her up. As he drives he is holding her hand the whole way home.

When Sean and Kristen get back to Roswell she is still crying. She’s been crying so much that she hasn’t been able to tell him what happened with her father. When they get home he carries her inside and lays her on the bed. He lies down next to her and holds her close, not knowing what else to do. He hears someone come in, but ignores it assuming its Michael and Maria, and it is.
“Sean? Kristen? Are you here?”
When they go into Sean’s room and see Kristen a wreck.
“She went to see her dad and came out like this.”
“What did he say?”
“I don’t know.”
Maria can tell that she just needs to cry. She just needs to be with Sean.
“Come on Michael, lets leave them alone for a while. We’ll be in my room if you need us.”
They leave and Sean just keeps trying to calm Kristen.
“Shh. It’s okay. I’m here. It’s okay.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
He kisses her forehead and pulls her closer to him. He is so glad she came back to Roswell.
Maria lies down on her bed. Michael sits on the edge next to her.
“Michael, how are we gonna do this? Am I gonna move in with you? Are we gonna get married? What are we gonna do?”
“I’ve been thinking about that too. I love you. I love everything about you. Ever since I kidnapped you and stole your car I knew you were the only girl for me. And now you’re carrying my children. The only way things could be any more perfect is if you were my wife, but only if you’re ready. I don’t want to rush you into anything.”
She smiles at his concern for her.
“I am ready. I want to be your wife.”
“Good. And you’ll definitely be moving in with me. We’ll need to get a bigger place, although I don’t know how we’re going to do that.”
“We’ll figure something out.”
“I know. Are ya hungry?”
“I’ll go make something.”
He kisses her forehead and goes into the kitchen. Sean is there getting a glass of water.
“How is she?”
“Better. How’s Maria?”
“So, how pregnant is she now?”
“About six months.”
They suddenly hear Maria scream.
They run to her room with Kristen right behind them. Michael rushes to Maria’s side. He squeezes her hand tight.
“Shh. Its okay, I’m here. I’m here.”
“Oh god Michael!”
“I know it hurts baby, but it’ll be over in a minute. I’m right here Maria. Squeeze my hand, yell at me, do whatever you need to, I’m here.”
A few minutes later the pain is gone. She sits up a little to look at her stomach. Her eyes get very big. Now she looks nine months pregnant.
“How is this happening so fast?”
Maria squeezes Michael’s hand tighter.
“Michael, I think I’m having a contraction.”
“Kris, call Valenti. Hurry!”
Kristen runs to the phone.
“Sean would you get her a glass of water?”
Maria looks very scared.
“Michael this is happening so fast. I’m scared!”
“It’s okay baby. I’m not gonna let anything happen to you! I’m right here! I’ll never leave you!”
posted on 29-Jul-2002 7:44:02 PM by Sweetie Pie
After a few minutes everyone is at Maria’s. Valenti is examining her. They can’t go to a hospital, so he learned how to deliver a baby. Because he is the only adult in the ‘I know an alien club’ they felt he should deliver the twins.
“Everyone out except Michael and Kristen. Kris I might need an extra set of hands, plus you’ve been through this.”
Maria gets worried.
“You do know what you’re doing don’t you?”
“Yes, don’t worry Maria.”
Everyone else is waiting in the hall right out side Maria’s room. Max is holding Liz tightly in his arms. She’s very worried about Maria. The others are just really excited, especially Faith. Now she won’t be the only kid in the group. After hours of screaming from both Maria and Michael, Kristen finally opens the door.
“Come on in guys.”
They walk in to see Maria holding two perfect little babies in her arms, and Michael crying as he looks at his new family. Liz walks around the other side of the bed to sit next to Maria.
“They’re beautiful sweetie.”
She turns to Michael.
“Do you want to hold your children?”
He carefully takes Angel and Gabriel into his arms. He can’t believe he helped create these beautiful little things.
“Hi there. I’m your daddy. I’m gonna take care of you, and protect you. I love you both very much.”
Now Maria is crying. She knows he’s going be an amazing father.
Michael hands Angel to Max, and Gabriel to Kristen. Everyone introduces themselves to the newborns as they are passed around the room. After everyone has held them both, Maria takes Gabriel and Michael takes Angel.
“What is going on here?!”
Everyone whips around to see a very confused, not to mention pissed off, Amy Deluca.
“Mom… You’re home early.”
“Well it looks like a good thing! Now what is going on?!”
Maria hands Gabriel to Liz and Michael hands Angel to Isabel.
“Mom please stop yelling.”
“No, I will not stop yelling! Who are these babies? Why do you look sick?”
Maria looks very weak. She looks like she’s about to pass out.
“I want an explanation now!”
Michael notices how bad Maria looks.
“Maria, are you alright?”
She nods her head.
“I’ll be okay. I’m just so tired. I can’t handle her yelling at me right now.”
“I’ll take care of your mom. You just rest now. Don’t worry.”
“Thank you. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
He turns to Amy and practically drags her out of the room. Kristen turns back to Maria.
“You’ll feel a lot better after you rest. Trust me.”
“We’ll leave you alone for a while. And don’t worry about the twins; we’ll keep an eye on them.”
“Thank you all so much. What would I do without you?”
“I don’t want to know.”
Everyone leaves the room so Maria can sleep, but it takes her a while to be able to. All she can think about is what Michael’s going to say to her mother.
posted on 30-Jul-2002 5:42:33 PM by Sweetie Pie
“Let go of me!”
Amy rips her arm from Michael’s grip.
“Look, the last thing Maria needs right now is you yelling in her face! You wanna know what’s going on?”
“Yes I do!”
He points to the twins.
“That’s Angel and Gabriel. They are mine and Maria’s. She got pregnant 3 days ago. They grew really fast because I’m an alien. Wanna see?”
He uses his powers to change a picture on the wall into a different picture. Amy is in shock.
“And by the way, I’m not the only one. Max and Isabel are aliens too. Maria and I are gonna get married and move in together, and I’m not going to leave her like her asshole of a father did. Now ya know the whole story, so if you’ll excuse me I have to go take care of my family.”
Amy sits down in shock as Michael walks over to the others. Michael takes Angel and sits down. The others heard everything he said to Amy. Kristen tries to change the subject.
“Hey Michael, I kept all of Faith’s old baby cloths. Angel could use them if you want.”
“That’d be great thanks.”
Suddenly they hear screaming coming from Maria’s room.
Kristen takes Angel from Michael and he runs to Maria.
“What going on?”
Amy stands in front of Maria as if to protect her from him. She grabs Maria’s old baseball bat from her closet.
“You get away from my baby you freak!”
“Mom he’s not a freak!”
“Don’t worry honey I’ll protect you! Get out of the way! We’re leaving Roswell!”
“Mom, are you nuts?!”
Sean steps into the room.
“Aunt Amy, just put the bat down. I know it’s weird. I just found out myself, but they won’t hurt you.”
Amy just grabs Sean’s arm and pulls him behind her as well.
“I’ll save you too Sean, don’t worry!”
“Mom stop this! They’re not dangerous!”
“That’s what they want you to believe!”
“Mom, you’re scaring me! Please stop this!”
“Not until I know you’re safe!”
Angel and Gabriel start to cry.
“Mom, my kids are crying. I have to go get them.”
“Oh no! They’re aliens too!”
Michael is now extremely pissed off.
He rushes at Amy. She hits his arm with the bat, but it doesn’t stop him. He grabs the bat and takes it from her. He shoves her to the other side of the room, grabs Maria and holds her close.
“Michael your arm.”
“Max could you heal it.”
After Max heals his arm he pulls Maria even closer.
“I think we should leave now.”
Amy is still afraid of them.
“You are not taking my daughter anywhere!”
Maria looks her right in the eyes.
“Yes they are!”
posted on 7-Aug-2002 6:14:56 PM by Sweetie Pie
They all quickly run out of Maria’s room and lock Amy inside.
“I can’t believe she’s doing this! I knew she’d freak, but I didn’t think she’d try to kill you!”
“Maybe we should just leave her in there for a little while to let her cool off. Then we’ll try to talk to her again. As long as there is not bat involved.”
The phone rings. Kristen picks it up.
“Hello. Is this Kristen Smith?”
“Yes. Who is this?”
“This is Mr. Evans. You know, Max and Isabel’s dad.”
“Oh yeah, hi Mr. Evans. It’s been a long time.”
“Yes it has, but this isn’t a social call. I need to speak to you in my office.”
“Okay, what about?”
“Your mothers will.”
“But my mom died 5 years ago.”
“Yes, but you weren’t able to receive what she left you until you were 18, which I understand happened recently. Happy birthday by the way.”
“Do you think you could come tomorrow?”
“Sure, what time?”
“Sounds good. See ya then.”
She hangs up the phone. The others are very curious as to why Mr. Evans needs to talk to Kristen, and why she mentioned her mother.
“What was that all about?”
“Mr. Evans wants me to come to his office tomorrow at 2:30 to talk about my mom’s will. He said that she left me something but I couldn’t get it until I was 18, so now I can have it.”
“Did he say what it is?”
“Nope, he just said we’d talk about it tomorrow.”
She sees Faith yawn and picks her up.
“I’m gonna put her to bed, although she may not be able to sleep with Amy pounding like that.”
“Let me out of here! Maria!”
Max shakes his head.
“I don’t get it. What did we do to make her think we’re evil? Why can’t she trust us?”
Kristen answers with a sad smile.
“It’s just human nature to fear what they don’t understand. And she really doesn’t understand.”
“We could explain if she would listen.”
“Give her time. She’ll come around.”
She goes to Sean’s room to put Faith to bed. Sean follows her. Faith falls asleep the second she hits the bed. Kristen sits on the edge of the bed and kisses Faith’s forehead. Sean sits on the other side of the bed and does the same.
“She’s so beautiful.”
“Yeah. Sean how are we gonna do this? Neither of us has jobs. You live with your aunt, who at the moment is locked in Maria’s room because she just found out that some of my best friends are aliens. We have no place of our own, and no money. I know the others will help as best they can, but that’s not much, and I hate depending on everyone else.”
“I know. We’ll figure something out. Don’t worry.”
Back in the living room Maria and Michael are trying to calm Angel and Gabriel. Amy’s yelling is scaring them.
“Shh. It’s okay. It’s just your crazy grandmother.”
“Unlock this door now! What are you doing out there, calling the mother ship?!”
“On second thought, crazy is an understatement.”
Maria walks up to the door, keeping her back to it so that if Amy some how gets it open it will hit her and not Angel.
“Mom, if you calm down and listen to us, we’ll let you out.”
“I’m not listening to anything those freaks have to say!”
“Hey, I’m in love with one of those ‘freaks’, and the other ‘freaks’ are my friends. Plus my children are half ‘freak’ as well. I know its weird mom, but I swear they don’t want to hurt anyone.”
Amy is silent.
“Do you remember a few years ago when there was a shooting in the Crashdown?”
“Well what you don’t know is that Liz was shot, but she didn’t die because Max healed her with his powers. He risked his life to save hers. And about a year ago he did the same thing for Kyle.”
Amy is speechless.
“And Michael even killed an FBI agent to save us. That was really hard for him to deal with, but he did it for us. They have saved all our lives on more then one occasion. Now, I can’t imagine my life without them.”
“Please let me out. I want to apologize to them.”
Maria smiles and opens the door. Amy comes out and hugs Maria. Then she walks into the living room to apologize to the aliens. When she comes into the room Michael, Max, and Isabel stand up.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize. Maria told me everything you’ve done for them. Thank you. Thank you for protecting my family.”
She turns to Michael.
“You better take care of my little girl!”
“Don’t worry. I will.”
She gives him a hug.
“Would you like to hold your grandson?”
She takes Gabriel from Michael. Maria cries as she watches her beautiful new family.

The next day Kristen goes to see Mr. Evans. Sean offered to come with her, but she told him to say at home with Faith. She was afraid that she might not be able to handle talking about her mother, but she still wanted to go alone.
“Hi Mr. Evans.”
He gives her a friendly hug. After all she is best friends with his children.
“How’ve you been?”
“Pretty good, and you?”
“Oh I’m fine. Let’s sit down. As I said yesterday, your mother left you some things in her will, but wanted me to wait until you were 18 to give them to you.”
“She just wanted you to be old enough to handle them.”
“What are they?”
“Money for one. And a house, and some of her old belongings.”
“Money and a house?”
“How much money?”
“How much is that?”
“5 million dollars.”
She almost fainted.
“Did you just say 5 million dollars?”
“Yes I did.”
“Where on earth or any other planet did my mother get 5 million dollars?!”
“Her grandmother left her even more. She only used what she needed and saved the rest for you.”
She still couldn’t quite grasp this.
“I can’t believe this. Why wasn’t I at least told about this when she died?”
“I thought since you couldn’t get it until you were 18 I shouldn’t tell you until then.”
Now she was getting a little angry.
“Let me get this straight. All that time I spent alone in San Francisco working three jobs to take care of my little girl after her father left me could have been avoided because my mother left me 5 million dollars!”
“I didn’t even know you had a daughter.”
“No one did.”
“Well I’m sorry. Had I known I would have found a way for you to get that money.”
“I appreciate that.”
He hands her a folder.
“Here’s all the information on the account, house, and belongings. I am sorry.”
“Thanks, but it doesn’t really matter much now does it?”
She takes the folder and leaves. As she’s walking to her car her vision gets blurry and she gets very dizzy. Suddenly everything goes black. Max sees her collapse from across the street and runs to her side.
“Kristen?! Oh god, Kris?! Wake up! Come on wake up!”
He pulls out his cell phone and calls 911. When they get to the hospital he calls Sean.
Sean is playing with Faith on the living room floor. Amy, Maria, and Michael are on the couch taking about Angel and Gabriel. When the phone rings Sean picks it up.
“Sean, its Max.”
“Hey Max, are you alright?”
“Not really. I’m at the hospital.”
“Why what happened?”
Michael, Maria, and Amy all get up and stand next to Sean, hoping Max is alright.
“I’m not hurt. It’s Kris. I don’t know what happened. I was taking a walk and I saw her collapse across the street. By the time I got to her she was unconscious. I couldn’t heal her.”
Sean drops the phone. Michael picks it up and Max tells him what happened. Faith comes over and hugs Sean’s leg.
He picks her up and hugs her tight.
“We have to get to the hospital.”
He turns to Amy and whispers so Faith can’t hear him.
“Could you watch Faith? I don’t want to bring her there until we know what’s what.”
“Mom will you watch the twins too?”
Sean looks at Faith.
“I have to go baby. I’ll be back soon. Aunt Amy’s gonna watch you okay?”
He gives her a kiss, hands her to Amy, and runs out the door with Michael and Maria right behind him.
Max calls the others as well and they all come as quickly as possibly. They all sit in the waiting room much like they did when Kristen was in a car accident. Michael holds Maria, Max holds Liz, and Alex holds Isabel. The men are trying to be strong, but it’s not an easy task. Sean is falling apart. He lost her once, and then almost lost her again. This is too much. He can’t bear to think about what he would do without her. He needs her. Faith needs her. She has to be okay.
A doctor is checking Kristen vitals when she wakes up.
“Do you know where you are?”
She looks around.
“And do you know what happened to get you here?”
“Yes. I’m just under a lot of stress right now.”
“That’s definitely what triggered it. Do they know?”
“Your friends, or family, whoever it is waiting down the hall for you.”
“No they don’t, and I’d like to keep it that way. I have it under control. I’ve just been a little too stressed out the last few days. I’ll be fine.”
“You can’t hide it forever.”
“I know, and I don’t plan to. I just can’t tell them yet. Please!”
“I won’t tell if you don’t want me to. But I suggest you tell them soon.”
She just nods. How can she? How can she tell them something like this?

Please give me some feedback!!!
As promised, the doctor just tells Kristen’s family that she passed out from stress, and considering what she’s been through lately, they believe it. When they come into her room she is dressed and ready to go. Sean walks over to her and kisses her. Then he gives her a tight hug.
“I was so worried about you.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. It’s not your fault.”
“No, it’s my mother’s.”
She can’t believe she just said that.
“Well, Mr. Evans and I were talking about her, that’s why I got so upset. So in a way it’s her fault.”
He kisses her forehead and hugs her again. She holds him tight, knowing how scared he must have been. She can feel his fear. His fear of losing her. Maybe she should tell him. No, it will only make things worse for him to know.
“You ready to go home?”
A nurse brings in a wheel chair, but Sean ignores it and carries Kristen to the car. When they get home Faith jumps into her mothers arms. Kristen is still weak, but she picks her daughter up and hugs her as tight as she can. She suddenly realizes she didn’t tell the others what her mother left her. She has them all come into the living room and sit down.
“Guys, you are not gonna believe what my mother left me.”
“Some of her old stuff, a house… and 5 million dollars.”
She has never seen them so surprised.
“Where the hell did your mom get 5 million dollars?”
“That’s what I said. Apparently my great grandmother left her even more, but she saved some of it for me.”
Sean can’t believe it.
“Well I guess are problems are solved.”
“You don’t seem as happy as you should be.”
“I am happy, it’s just… never mind.”
“I don’t want to talk about.”
“Well since you just got out of the hospital I’m not gonna pry, for now.”
She turns to Michael and Maria.
“I know how hard it is to be a teen parent. I had to work three jobs to take care of Faith and I. I didn’t ask for help and I should have. Things would have been a lot easier. So I’m gonna help you. I want to give you two some of the money my mom left me.”
“Oh my god Kris. That is so sweet, but we couldn’t take that from you.”
“I want you to. I want you to have a better life then I did. Please take it.”
They look at each other, then back at Kris.
“Okay. Thank you so much. We will pay you back someday.”
“Don’t worry about that.”
Sean sees that Kristen looks really tired.
“Why don’t I put you to bed?”
“Alright. Night guys.”

The next day they all go to see the house Kristen’s mother left her. Its two stories and white on the outside. The inside isn’t as bad as they thought it would be. A few holes in the walls, some broken windows, and some chipped paint. There is no furniture.
“Well, it’s not too bad.”
Isabel looks at Max and Michael.
“Let’s get to work boys.”
“What are you doing?”
They others are confused. Michael fixes the holes in the walls, Max fixes the windows, and Isabel takes all the old paint off the walls.
“Alien powers can really come in handy.”
“I see that. Thanks.”
“Sure. What colors do want the walls to be?”
“Well I thought the living room could be a light blue.”
Isabel puts her hand on the wall and makes it light blue.
“A little darker.”
She makes it a little darker.
They go to every other room and make them different colors as well. After that they go furniture shopping. The boys stand back as the girls go crazy. Sean doesn’t really care what they get, as long as Kristen and Faith like it. While they’re out they get furniture for Michael and Maria’s new apartment too. Thanks to Kristen they were able to get a beautiful three bedroom apartment. In a month Kristen and Sean are getting married, and the month after that Michael and Maria are getting married. Max and Liz are very happy together, and so are Isabel and Alex. Life is good all around.
(A week later)
Michael and Kristen are having lunch at the Crashdown.
“I can’t believe you’re getting married in three weeks!”
“Tell me about it. Michael, I wanted to ask you something.”
“Well, with my father in jail I have no one to give me away. So, I want you to.”
Michael is stunned.
“You and I have always been really close. It wasn’t easy to get that close to you, but I did, and I’m really glad. I think I’m closer to you then anyone, and I’d be honored if you would give me away at my wedding.”
“Yes, of course!”
She gets up a hugs him tightly.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
“You’re welcome! Thank you for asking!”
“I have to go tell Sean! I’ll see ya later.”
He can’t believe she wants him to give her away. Him! Michael Guerin! She was the first to break down his stonewall, but after she left he put it up again, and this time it was even harder to break through. But of course, Maria Deluca did it, and he couldn’t be happier about it. She comes in with a carrier in each hand, one for Angel and one for Gabriel. Gabriel is asleep, but Angel is wide awake. Maria sets the carriers on the table Michael is sitting at. Michael takes Angel into his arms.
“You are not going to believe what Kristen just asked me to do.”
“Who are you talking to me or Angel?”
“Very funny. She asked me to give her away at her wedding.”
“Wow, that’s great.”
Maria gets a sad look.
“What’s wrong babe?”
“My fathers not around either. Who’s gonna give me away?”
“Who ever you want. Just think about who your really close to, who you really love.”
Now she’s smiling again.
“I know who it should be.”

(3 weeks later)
Isabel, Maria, Liz, and Amy are helping Kristen get ready for her wedding. Isabel steps back to look at her.
“Honey you look beautiful!”
Her dress is simple, white, spaghetti strapped, and goes down to just above her ankles. Her hair is curled, with white flowers placed throughout it. Faith comes running in with Michael right behind her. When he sees Kristen in her wedding dress he stops in his tracks.
“Kris, you look amazing!”
“Thank you. Is everything ready?”
“Yep. Are you?”
“Yes, yes I am!”
She picks up Faith.
“Is my flower girl ready?”
“Okay. Let’s go.”
Sean is waiting at the alter with Max, Alex, and Kyle standing next to him. They can tell he is nervous, but excited.
“You ready Sean?”
“Yes I am.”
The ceremony starts. Faith is the first to come down the aisle, then Liz, then Maria, then Isabel. Now Kristen is standing at the end of the aisle with Michael by her side. God she looks beautiful. He thought this day would never come. This couldn’t be more perfect.
When Kristen’s eyes meet Sean’s she almost starts to cry. He looks so handsome. This is one of the most amazing days of her life. Her friends, or rather her family is here, her daughter is here, her love is here. They are all together once again. She is home and will finally have a real family of her own. This couldn’t be any more perfect.
As she and Michael walk down the aisle she and Sean never take their eyes off each other. They are both smiling and almost crying. When they get to the end of the aisle Michael kisses Kristen on the cheek and hands her off to Sean. They say their vows, and slip a golden band onto each others finger. When they hear the words “You may kiss the bride” Sean puts his arms around her waste, Kristen puts hers around his neck, and they share a deep kiss as their family cheers.
At the reception Michael stands up to get everyone’s attention to make a speech.
“Excuse me, could I have everyone’s attention please. In case you don’t know me, I’m Michael Guerin. Kristen and I have been friends since third grade. We met through art class. She is the most amazing painter I’ve ever seen.”
Kristen starts to blush.
“What I love most about her is her fire, her love for life. When we were kids she was so full of life, she lived everyday to its fullest. She was never afraid of anything. But then some bad things happened to her. I don’t want to say them because I’m not sure she wants every one of you to know, but they were bad, so bad that she lost her spark, her fire, her love for life. She just started drifting through life like everyone else, but that wasn’t right for her. She wasn’t happy anymore. Three years ago she went away to try to escape that sadness, but it followed her. Then something happened. She met Sean. When she came home with her beautiful daughter Faith she was happier then I had seen her in a very long time. And then when she and Sean got back together she was even happier. She got her spark back. She got her happiness back. She got herself back. She means so much to me and to her other friends, so thank you Sean for bringing her back to us. For making her happy. For giving her the life she deserves.”
Now Kristen is crying. She gets up and gives Michael and loving hug. He is fighting back tears as well.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
They wipe away each others tears. Sean comes over and gives Michael a friendly hug.
The DJ starts playing “Only Hope” by Mandy Moore. Sean leads Kristen to the dance floor. Everyone watches as Kristen and Sean have their first dance as husband and wife. Kristen lays her head on his shoulder as he holds her close to him.
“I love you.”
“I love you too. I have a surprise for you.”
She takes one of his hands and slides it to her stomach. His eyes get wide, she just smiles knowing he got the message.
He gives her a soft kiss on the lips then the forehead. She lays her head back on his shoulder as the song ends. Now everyone else comes onto the dance floor. Michael taps Sean on the shoulder.
“May I cut in?”
Sean dances with Amy as his wife dances with Michael. He sees her whisper something in Michael ear. When Michael’s eyes get as big as his did he knows that she told him about the baby. She does the same with Max, Alex, and Kyle when they dance with her. Sean tells Amy, Isabel, Maria, and Liz when he dances with them. They decided to tell Faith later when they go home. Kristen watches her husband as he and the guys B.S. He is so wonderful. She loves him so much. This has been one of the most perfect days of her life. She wishes it would never end, but she knows it will. That’s okay. As long as she has him, Faith, and her amazing family everyday will be perfect.

(A month later)
Maria wakes up and looks at Michael, who has been watching her sleep yet again.
“We have a big day today.”
“Yes we do. You ready?”
She gives him a quick kiss and gets up, but he pulls her back down and gives her a long, deep, passionate kiss.
“I just wanted to do that one more time before we get married.”
She smiles and kisses him again. They go to the nursery. Michael picks up Angel and Maria picks up Gabriel. There is a knock at the door. Michael answers it.
“Hi Jim, Hi Amy. Come on in.”
Jim smells something strange.
“Michael is something burning?”
He hands Angel to Amy and runs to the kitchen. Maria comes in, making sure to keep Gabriel away from the flames.
“Sorry. I forgot it was on.”
“It’s okay honey. Just fix it.”
He waves his hand over their breakfast and it becomes edible again.
“Hi mom, Hi Jim.”
“Morning Maria. Hi Gabriel. So are you two ready for the big day?”
“I think so.”
Michael gives her a look.
“You think so?”
“I know so. I’m ready.”
Jim takes Gabriel from Maria.
“Thanks for watching them mom. Did you two have fun in Arizona?”
“Oh yeah. We had a blast.”
“Me too. Well you better get ready. Bye.”
Jim and Amy leave with Angel and Gabriel.
Kristen is searching desperately for something.
“Honey, what are you looking for?”
“It’s something Michael drew when we were younger. At the time he didn’t want it so I took it. I want to give it to him as a wedding present. He probably doesn’t even remember it.”
Faith comes running in the room.
“Mommy I found it.”
“You did? Good girl. Thank you. Your Uncle Michael will love this.”
She turns to Sean.
“We’re going over there now. I have to help Maria get ready. And the little flower girl needs to get ready too.”
“Bye sweetie. Bye Kris.”
There is a knock at the door. Michael answers it.
“Hey Kris, Faith. Come on in. I’m just on my way out.”
“Oh wait. I have something for you. It’s sort of a wedding present.”
She hands him the picture he drew when they were kids of Maria with a sunset in the background.
“I can’t believe you kept this. We were in the forth grade when I drew this. At that point I didn’t think I’d ever have a chance with her.”
“I remember. I tried to tell you you were wrong, but you wouldn’t listen. You were so stubborn.”
“I remember too. Thank you. This is a great present.”
He gives her a big hug.
“You’re welcome. Where’s Maria?”
“In her room with Liz and Isabel. I’ll see ya later.”
Kristen and Faith go into Maria’s room. Isabel is using her powers to fix Maria’s hair.
“Perfect. Hi Kris. Hi Faith.”
“Hi. How are you doing? Any last minute jitters?”
“Not what so ever.”
“Good. I didn’t have any either. I guess we just have the perfect men.”
“I wouldn’t go that far.”
They all laugh. Hours later they are at the church fitting Maria’s veil.
“How do I look?”
Alex comes in to check on them.
“Are we ready ladies?”
“Yep, we’re ready. Is he ready?”
“Maria he’s been ready for years.”
“Okay, let’s go.”
The flowers girl and bridesmaids go down the aisle. Now it is Maria’s turn. She looks down the aisle at Michael. He doesn’t look the least bit nervous. Max and Sean and Kyle are standing next to him. Michael and Maria’s eyes never leave each other. Michael has a huge smile on his face. The smile that only Maria can bring out of him. Maria is smiling and crying. She has never been happier. When she gets to the end of the aisle she kisses Alex on the cheek as he hands her to Michael. Michael lips ‘I love you’ as the reverend speaks. She lips ‘I love you too.’ When they hear “You may kiss the bride” they share a deep passionate kiss as their family cheers.
Kristen stands up for everyone o hear her.
“Hi everyone. Most of you know who I am. I’m Kristen Deluca. I have known Michael and Maria for a really long time, and now I’m kinda related to Maria. I’ve seen first hand how much these two love each other. We all have, but I know a few things that you probably don’t. Like how Michael used to spend hours drawing Maria, even before they got together. He said she was just a perfect that he couldn’t help himself. And how she was secretly attracted to him for years, but would never admit it. How they fell in love long before they even realized it. And how no matter what happened, no matter what terms they were on, they always cared more about the other than themselves. I admire that about you two. You have an amazing love. Don’t ever lose it.”
They both get up and give her a big hug.
“That was beautiful. Thank you.”
Max stands up to make a speech.
“Well, how can I follow that?”
“Kris was definitely right. You two are perfect together. I haven’t really known Maria for very long, but I’ve known Michael almost my whole life. He’s like a brother to me. And I’ve never seen him as happy as he is when he’s with you. You took down his ‘stonewall’. Something very few people can do. He loves you more then anything. I hope, no I know you two have a wonderful life together. Congratulations.”
They give him the same hug they gave Kris. The DJ starts playing “Stranded” by Plumb. Michael takes Maria’s hand and leads her to the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”

A few days later Kristen goes to see her dad again. This time she goes alone. She brings pictures of Faith, Sean, her wedding, her friends, and Michael and Maria’s wedding.
“Hi Krissy. How are you?”
“As good as I can be in here. Wait did you say you’re pregnant?”
“Yep. And I brought more pictures.”
“Great. For both.”
They sit down and she shows him the pictures.
“This is from my wedding. It was a month ago.”
“Who gave you away since I wasn’t there?”
“Do you remember my friend Michael?”
“The one that used to come into your room through your window in the middle of the night? Oh I remember him very well.”
“He did. He just got married a few days ago to my friend Maria. I have some of those pictures too.”
“I can’t get over how much you look like your mother.”
“No I don’t.”
“Are you kidding? You look exactly like her.”
“No I don’t! I am nothing like my mother!”
She is now yelling at him.
“Kris, what’s wrong with you? When you were a child you loved it when people told you that you looked like her.”
“I’m not a child anymore dad! I grew up! I changed! Deal with it!”
She gathers the pictures and runs out of the building. When she gets to her car she just sits in the drivers seat crying. After a few minutes she drives back home.
Faith runs at her mother. Normally she would pick Faith up, but today she just doesn’t have the strength.
“Hi sweetie. Where’s your daddy?”
“In the kitchen.”
“Okay, let’s go see him.”
They go to the kitchen to find Sean. He is making them a picnic for lunch. Kristen smiles. He can be so sweet.
“Hi. How’d it go?”
Sean notices that she looks a little sick.
“Are you okay babe? You don’t look so good.”
“I’m okay. Morning sickness doesn’t always come in the morning.”
“Oh I see. Well maybe we should go on this picnic then.”
“No, I’ll be okay. Let’s go.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I could use the fresh air.”
“Okay. Let’s go.”
They go to the park for their picnic.
Sean is chasing Faith around while Kris lays on the blanket. She wanted to join them, but Sean ordered her to stay put. He is getting a little overprotective, but she thinks it’s sweet. He likes to be around for everything that has to do with Faith or the baby, most likely because he already missed two years of Faith’s life and he wasn’t around to help Kris with the pregnancy. She’s very glad he’s here this time.
(4 months later. Dec. 24)
Sean lifts Faith so she can put the star at the top of the Christmas tree.
Kristen, who is now 7 months pregnant, looks on as her daughter puts the finishing touches on their Christmas tree.
“You like it mommy?”
“I love it sweetie.”
Kristen gets up off the couch. Sean notices that she is in pain.
“Kris? What is it?”
“I think I just had a contraction.”
“But you still have two months to go.”
“I know that, but it’s happening anyway.”
“Okay, we need to get to the hospital.”
“Oh god Sean. It’s too soon.”
“I know. It’s gonna be okay. Don’t worry. She’ll be okay.”
posted on 3-Sep-2002 9:16:34 PM by Sweetie Pie
Michael, Maria, Max, and Liz run into the hospital at the same time.
Sean is holding a sleeping Faith in his lap. He slowly gets up and lays her on the chair without waking her. He walks up to the others and hugs Maria.
“How is she?”
“I don’t know. The doctor’s with her now. Max can’t you do something?”
“I have to understand what’s wrong to fix it. I don’t know enough about this to help her. I’m sorry.”
Sean sinks into a chair, puts his head in his hands and cries. He doesn’t know what else to do.
Isabel, Alex, Kyle, and Jim run in just as the doctor comes out of Kristen’s room.
“I’m afraid I can stop it. She is going to have the baby now.”
“But she still has two months to go.”
“There’s nothing I can do now.”
“Will they be okay, Kris and baby?”
“It’s too soon to tell, but I assure you Mr. Deluca we will do everything we can to help your wife and daughter.”
Faith starts to wake up.
“Is mommy okay now?”
He looks up at his friends, not knowing how to tell his two year old daughter that her little sister could die.
“Mommy’s gonna be fine. She gonna have your little sister tonight.”
Faith was sp excited when they told her Kristen was pregnant. She really wanted a little sister. He just couldn’t tell her the truth. She probably wouldn’t understand anyway. She’s only two.
“You wanna go see mommy?”
He picks her up and takes her into Kristen’s room.
Kristen has obviously been crying, but Faith doesn’t seem to notice.
She gives her little girl a big hug before another contraction hits.
Sean is immediately by her side, holding her hand tightly. Michael picks up Faith and tries to distract her from her mother’s obvious pain. The doctor comes back in to check on Kristen.
“Everyone out but mommy and daddy. It’s time.”
Faith doesn’t understand why she can’t stay.
“Sweetheart, I need you to be a really good girl and go sit in the hall with your aunts and uncles, okay?”
“Cause I can’t have your little sister and watch you at the same time.”
“Okay. Bye mommy.”
Michael carries Faith out into the hall.
“Are you excited Faith?”
A few hours later the baby is born and rushed to the infant intensive care unit. Because she is two months premature her body isn’t fully matured yet. Kristen, Sean, and Faith go to visit the new member of their family.
“What are we gonna call her?”
“Alison Sara Deluca.”
Faith lightly touches her little sister’s tiny hand.
A few weeks later Sean is staring at an empty incubator with a sad look on his face.

Kristen comes up behind Sean as he stairs at the empty incubator.
“What are you doing babe?”
“Making a wish.”
He turns around and looks at her.
“That if anyone ever has to be in that room like we were…”
He looks down at the beautiful baby in Kristen’s arms.
“… Things work out for them as well as they did for us.”
He kisses Alison’s forehead, and then picks up Faith.
“Let’s go home.”
When they get home the others have the whole place decorated. The jump out and surprise them.
“Thank you. Oh, where’s Faith?”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got her.”
“I’m so glad you guys left the Christmas decorations up.”
“Well, we thought the little Christmas miracle should get to see them.”
That’s what they all call Ali, their little Christmas miracle. She was born on Christmas Eve, and even though the doctors didn’t think she’d make it, she did. Kristen takes her to her room and puts her in her crib. She falls asleep right away. Kristen just watches as her beautiful new baby sleeps. Sean comes in and puts his arms around her shoulders. They are so glad things worked out so well.
(4 months later)
Kristen, Isabel, Maria, and Liz are shopping.
“Oh Maria, that looks great. It’s perfect for prom.”
“Thank you. Max is gonna drool over your dress.”
Kristen is waiting for Isabel to come out of the dressing room.
“Isabel, How long does it take to get a dress on?”
“Just a minute. The zipper got stuck.”
She comes out.
“Oh my. Alex is gonna die.”
“Thanks. We still have to find you a dress.”
“I’m not going.”
“Because I have two children to take care of.”
Maria gives her a look.
“So do I.”
“I also have a husband whose not allowed anywhere near the school.”
“So go with someone else.”
“What about Kyle? He doesn’t have a date.”
“I don’t think he’ll wanna go with me.”
They leave the dressing room and Kristen bumps into Kyle.
“Well, speak of the devil.”
The girls start laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
Isabel walks up to Kyle.
“Kyle, how would you like to take Kristen to the prom?”
Kristen is about to smack Isabel.
“I’d love to take you.”
“Great. Let’s go find me a dress.”
Kristen is making dinner as Sean comes into the kitchen.
“I sure hope so. Hey Sean?”
“Would it be okay with you if I… went to the prom?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t that be okay with me?”
“Well, you can’t go with me, so…”
“So that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get to go to the prom like every other senior.”
“You’re welcome. So who are you gonna go with? You do intend to inform this guy that you are happily married right?”
“Relax. I’m going with Kyle.”
Kristen starts to feel sick.
“Honey could you finish this? I have to go to the bathroom.”
She goes to the bathroom and throws up. After a few minutes she gets off the floor and washes her face. She goes to her room and gets her purse. She takes out a small bottle of medication and takes two pills. She hears someone come down the hall and quickly puts the medication back in her purse. Sean walks into the room.
“Okay. Be there in a minute.”
‘I can’t do this forever. It’s gonna happen. I have to tell them, but I can’t’

(2 years later)
Kristen is sitting on a roof writing in a journal.
‘A lot has changed over the past 2 years, but everything has been really great. Sean, faith, Ali, and I are now living in Los Angeles. Michael, Maria, Gabriel, and Angel are our neighbors. Maria decided not to go to college. Michael knew he’d never be accepted to college, he was just glad that he graduated from high school. Maria is 6 months pregnant, this time with a girl. Kyle stayed in Roswell with his dad who recently got back his sheriff job. Max went to the same college as Liz. They got married just after graduation.
Isabel is traveling with Alex’s band. They got engaged a few months ago. He proposed at the end of one of their shows in front of the whole crowd. The only thing that hasn’t changed is our friendship. We call each other everyday and visit each other whenever we can. Things are going pretty well right now. Isabel, Alex, Max, Liz, and Kyle all are coming here tomorrow night. They plan on staying for at least a week so we can all spend some quality time together. I love my family. The only thing that hasn’t gotten any better is me.’
“Kris, dinner’s ready!”
She tries to stand up, but gets dizzy and sits back down. Michael comes up on the roof.
“Did you hear us?”
“Yeah, I’ll be there in a minute.”
“I’m fine. I just got up too quickly and got a little light headed. I’ll be okay.”
“Come on. I’ll help you down.”
He helps her back into the house and down to the dinning room. After dinner Kris puts Faith and Ali to bed, Sean and Maria clean up, and Michael lays Gabriel and Angel down on the couch since they fell asleep a few minutes ago. While Kris is in the other room Michael and Maria talk to Sean.
“Sean, have you noticed anything strange about Kris lately?”
“Yeah. You’ve noticed it too?”
“Do you have any idea what’s going on?”
“I tried to talk to her about it the other night, but she just kept saying she was fine.”
“I don’t think she is.”
“Neither do I.”
Kris comes back into the room. She looks like she’s about to collapse.
She collapses into his arms.
“Kris? Kristen? Can you hear me? Kris, wake up! Call 911!”
Maria calls 911 and an ambulance comes. Maria stays with the kids and Michael and Sean go to the hospital with Kristen. Hours later the doctor comes to talk to them.
“What’s wrong with her?”
“She didn’t tell you?”
“Tell us what?”
“Kristen has cancer.”
Michael sits down before he collapses and Sean just stands there in shock.
“She’s gonna be okay right? I mean, there’s a cure isn’t there?”
“No, I’m afraid there isn’t.”
