Title: Joining Forces
Rating: PG-13 (for some violence...it is a Buffy Crossover))
Category: Crossover...Roswell and Buffy
Summary: It's a reply to Lilah's challenge which is posted below:

Crossover with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Couples can be decided by the author.

*After Kendra's death Liz is 'called' to be Slayer. Adjusting to this new lifestyle and the fact of being attacked by demons and vampires nightly, she finds that people are getting worried about her. That and the new people to town (the Sunnydale gang), they are more than a little suspicious.

Must include-
*A conversation in the Crashdown between Liz and her mother, with the Sunnydale gang sitting at the counter. It has to have Liz's mother holding a stake and asking why it was in Liz's room, followed by a public questioning. (Be creative. I'd pesonally like to see the following plus others: Are you in a cult? In a gang? On drugs? Messing with the occult? etc. You get the point?)
*Liz answering above questions by telling her mother something highly unlikely and her mother walks away disbelieving.

Disclaimer: I own nothing of either shows. If I did Roswell wouldn't be off the air and well Buffy would've never taken the road it did.

Liz leaned backwards on a swing in the park, dangling her feet...waiting for something, anything. There'd be action tonight. She was sure of it. her Watcher ahd sent ehr out for that purpose. The only thing she could think about though, sicne thengiht was slow was ehr family and friends. They were starting to suspect something. She was gone most nights. She snuck out. She wan't around as much. She wa sure even Michael was starting to notice. The only problem was that she could never tell them the truth. They could never know what she was really doing at night. It would put them in danger and she uderstood that, but she didn't want to lose them either. She sighed heavily.

She ehard leaves crunch on the ground behind her and she spun around to face her attacker....or friend, as the case was. "Maria," she said softly with a smile. A nervous one, but a smile all the same. Maria really shouldn't be out.

"Hey, Liz," Maria said,"Are you okay? I mean something's been going on with you the past few weeks. You're never home, you sneak out at night, you're talking a lot to that old new guy. I just want to know what's going on."

"Nothing, I'm completely fin," Liz siad for the millionth time. It was starting to sound fake even to her. Like it was some rehearsed line. "Maria, please, just go," she pleaded with ehr friend,"I'll talk to you tomorrow, I promise."

Maria studied Liz and nodded finally. "Alright, but I'm holding you to that raincheck," she said, not willing to let Liz off the hook this time. At all.

Liz gave her a nod as she watched Maria walk away safely. She sighed moving back to the swings. She was about to sit agian when something threw her to the ground. The wind was knocked out of ehr, but she recovered quickly, flipping herself back up to her feet.

The vampire advanced and grabbed her arms. Liz counter-grabbed taking his arms into hers and then violently headbutted him, while he was still staggering, her stake made it's way into the vampires heart. "Fledgling," she commented under her breath as she started the walk home. It was obvious nothing more excting would be happening tonight.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Liz pushed through the doors leaving the backroom and heading into The Crashdown to work ehr shift. She noticed the new people were here again. She'd yet to introduce herself. They seemed like such a tight knit bnch, always tlaking in hushed tones. She felt like she was intruding to simply take their order.
She moved forward, pulling ehr hair abck as she did, taking out the order pad. No sooner had the words,"What can I get for you today?" escaped her lips than her mother came crashing into the Crashdown.
"Liz," her mother said sternly in a tone that Liz didn't question. She moved over to where ehr mom was.
"Yeah mom?" she asked, hoping it wasn't any big deal, but her mom seemed to be making a scene already.
"What's this?" Mrs. Parker demanded holding up the stake. "I was doing laundry and found this in your sleeve."
Liz stared dumfoundedly at ehr mother. her mouth opened and closed, but no sound escaped. she was speechless.
"Are you on drugs?" her mother blurted to a shake of Liz's head,"In a cult?" Another shake of the head. "Dabbling in witchcraft?" Another shake of the head was the only response. "Joined a gang?" Another shake of the ehad. She wished ehr daughter would say more. Do anything more than shake ehr head. "Gone crazy?" her mother questioned almost pleadingly as a last ditch effort.
Liz shook her ehad finally. "No, mom, I'm completely fine. I've just taken up whiddling. You know, carving wood," It was more unbelievable than what she'd been saying...that she was fine.
She watched as her mom shook her ehad, dropping the stkae to the ground and walking into the abckroom again.
Liz bent and picked it up, slipping it into ehr apron, ignoring everyone's questioning or concerned loosk as she moved abck to the new guys table, taking thier orders.
Feedback please...I'll probably post more to this this weekend, since there's no school on weekends...YAY!
Okay, here's a new part *happy*
Buffy looked around at the others at her table as Liz walked away to get the orders. She was about raise a discussion when Xander cut in.
"Hey, did you see that?" Xander asked raising his eyebrows.
Everyone knew what he was implying, but Cordelia felt the need to emphasize it. "Yeah. And it means she's a freak like Buffy," she commented, receiving a glare from Buffy. "What?" she asked unaffected. It's not like she'd lied.
Willow looked at Buffy,"So she's the new Slayer, huh? Don't you think you should tlak to her?"
Buffy nodded,"Yeah. Eventually. Now not being the best time." She knew how tensions with unknowing mother's could be and right now Liz didn't need anymore scenes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Maria followed Liz into the back room. "Okay, girl, spill, what's really going on here?"

Liz sighed and sat on the couch. "Maria, if I tell you, you have to promise not to freak out and you can't tell anybody."

Maria studied her friend and finally nodded. "Okay," she siad, sitting down next to her. "So what's up?"

"Have you noticed all the weird incidents lately?" Liz asked.

"You mean people going missing? A few dead? All the sudden gnag members? Yeah I notice every few hours on the news," maria answered,"What about it?"

"Well they aren't gang members," Liz infomred her.

"Then what are they?" Maria aksed ehr friend, a little disbelievingly.

"They're vampire and demons," Liz siad. She saw a look of horror cross her friends face, replaced by laughter. She thought she was joking. "I'm serious, Maria," Liz said, tkaing the stake out of her apron again and showing to Maria.

Maria was stunned into silence and then started hyperventilating,"So you fight them?" she asked. She'd promised not to freak out and the lack of breath was definitely keeping her from screaming. she noticed Liz's nod in response. She started to get calmer as she finally answered,"This is nuts. You should've told us sooner."

Liz sighed,"You're not supposed to know, no one is." Eventhough she kenw they had been damn clsoe to finding out anyway. They would've started investigating soon. She sighed as she watched maria try tocalmly tkae eaverything. "Well I better get that order."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What?" Buffy demanded as Giles spoke. "You've got to be kidding. We just got here. It can't be happening already. Do you think her Watcher discovered it?"
Giles shook his head, removing his glasses, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I have no idea. He's a new Watcher. he might not ahve known to look."
Buffy sighed,"So, what, I go tell Liz, hopeuflly we handle it? Kick some demon ass..."
Giles looked at ehr,"That sounds like the best course of action to me." Buffy nodded and left his house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Buffy soon found herself oustide of Liz's window knocking. Please elt her be here. Let ehr not have left already. Just then Liz poppedup, completely ready for a night of slaying it looked like. And she was suprised Buffy was at ehr window, that much was evident.

"Oh, hi," Liz said, pushing the window open with a questioning look. She coudl sense something about this girl. Was it soemthing good or something bad?

"Okay," Buffy said,"This is goign to sound completley crazy." She paused, seeing that Liz hadn't flinched yet. "But you and I ahve the same night job, so to speak," she told Liz,"And something's coming. Something big...from the Hellmouth."

Liz nodded,"My Watcher just called me." She paused,"Do you know where it is, hecouldn't figure it."

Buffy nodded in response. "It's out in the desert," she noted to Liz, starting to lead the way, jumping down into the street. Liz joined ehr and then the two began swiftly moving towards the spot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Max, Isabel, Michael, and Tess had gathered at the Pod Chamber. "So we've all been feeling it?" Tess reiterated. "The feelign that something's going to happen."
Max nodded,"Isabel and I ahve been feeling it for the past week."
"Yeah," was Michael's simple, but effective answer.
"I wonder what it means?" Isabel mused. They'd gotten this feeling before, but for bothgood and bad, when they'd made discoveries and when they'd been attacked.
Just as Max was about to interject the ground began to shake beneath them, cracking, and even opening in spots.
Feedback please....so that I'll feel the urge to write more, lol.
Okay, being that things for the hour that's left of today will be really slow, I'm going to post. Not sure how things will go this next week with school starting back.
"What was that?" Liz asked Buffy warily as the ground began to shake. Buffy just shot ehr a look and the question didn't need answering. She knew. This was the Hellmouth opening. Both girls upped their speed to a sprint in hopes of making it on time. To stop whatever might be coming out of the opening.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As the ground shook, Isabel grabbed onto Michael for support. Max and Tess fell to their knees, unable to hold themselves up against the tremors.

From the Hellmouth came many demons and creatures. The rip that ahd beenmade was not only up to Earth, but through dimensions. Creatures from other Hells were leaking over into Earth too. The area was becoming over run.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One vampire reached down into the pit to help out a fellow blonde vampire.
"Thank you my darling boy," the blonde purred to the man once she was sfely on ground.
The other vampire smiled wickedly. "Anytime, Darla," he said to her, taking her hand. It was so ncie to be realeased from that prison and back on Earh. Especially with a wild one like Darla. "So what now?" he asked, wondering if ehr twisted brain ahd already some up with a plan.
"I'm hungry," Darla siad simply,"And I smell food." She began walking in the direction of the caves with Angelus.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Earth stopped shaking and the mouth to Hell closed up, after the key players, not to mention quite a few extras got loose. The aliens staggered to their feet and started to move out of the cave.

Max was taken by surprise when Angelus walked around the corner. What was wrong with his face? Why'd the blonde look the same way? And he still wanted to know what had just happened here. It's not like Roswell was known to get Earthquakes.

"Kill him," Darla spurred Angelus. She wanted to see it. And she was sure Angelus would give ehr what she wanted to see.

Angelus lunged at Max, knocking him to the ground. Michael was unable to stop the act before it had happened. He still tried to help max, but the blonde vampire grabbed him by the back of the shirt and threw him off. Tess tried to help Max, but this resulted in a backhand from Angelus that was strong enough to knock her out.

Isabel watched the scene unfold, dumbfounded. She wanted to help ehr rbother, but felt rooted to her spot. Michael had even been cast away. And it looked like it was laborious for him to restand and Tess was unconscious.

Angelus bared his fangs as he picked Max up off the ground, chuckling at his utter helplessness. The slam into the ground had obviosuly made everything upstairs a little bit foggy, not to mention he was breathing rapidly. The wind had been knocked out of him. He leaned into his neck prepared to bite.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Liz and Buffy had ran as fast as they could through the rumbling and shortly after. The scene they stumbled upon was the last thing that Liz had wanted to see. She had run until the blood in her veins had burned, until her muscles were tight, until she could hardly breath and she still ahdn't run fast enough. She watched as the darkhaired vampire dropped Max to the ground, freshly bitten. Please let him not be dead. She closed he eyes and then looked to Buffy, noticing a shocked expression register on her face. Did she know this vampire? These vampires? Liz pulled out a stake and was about to attack when the two disappeared swiftly into the night.
"Check for a heartbeat," Buffy said almost as if it didn't bother her that someone might be dead. "If they're still alive we'll call 911 annonomously." She sighed. Everything that had made it's way out of the Hellmouth was gone. Dispelled upon Roswell and the rest of the world.
Liz checked Max's whil Isable checked Tess's. Tess was fine, jsut unconscious. Liz had to focus and then a small smile graced her lips. "He has a faint pulse," she said happily.
Isabel pulled out her phone, making up some reason why the friends would be out in the desert and that he ahd been hurt in the Earthquake. Tess came to right before the ambulance arrived that rushed Max off to the hospital.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After hours of trying to revive the teen the head doctor finally shook his head. "Clock it," he said simply.

One of the other doctors looked up at the clock. "11:25," he said, writing the time of death down on the report.

Thank you so much for the feedback everyone. *happy* I really appreciate it. Here's the next part. And I forewarn you it's a little dark. Enjoy!

Liz woke up the next morning with a smile. She ahd renewed hope. Suddenly even with everything she kenw had happened, even with everything that was out there, slaying didn't seem like an impossibility. She wasn't the only girl in al the world anymore, she had an ally. Many of them, since all Buffy's friends seemed to be in the know. And now all hers were too. And two watcher's definitely ahd to be better than one. And Max wasn't dead. As strange as life was all that having been said, she couldn't find a single reason to be unhappy. She got ready for the day and went downstairs, into the Crashdown. When she heard the bell ring and glanced over to see Mr. Evans walk in.

Liz's heart immediately dropped. She knew what he was going to say already. it was written all over his face and in his I'm trying to be strong for you pose. "Mr. Evans..." Liz began and trailed off. This couldn't be happeneing. she hoped against hope that he ahd any other news than what she thought it was.

"Liz, can I talk to you?" he asked her the softest his voice ahd ever probably been. When he received a tentative nod from the girl he took her hand and guided her to a booth. "I have some bad news..." he began.

Liz didn't need to hear anymore, her eyes welled with tears and she took in a racking breath. She held up ehr hand to stop him from speaking. "He's dead isn't he?" she asked already crying,"Max is dead."

Mr. Evans hated seeing the girl so upset. "Yes he is," he answered, nodding slowly, crying himself as he reached across the table to give Liz a somforting hug. Her tears for his son yanking at his heart too. He sniffed a few times, gaining control. "I'm so sorry," he said to her comfortingly. Then he withdrew and rose to his feet. "I have to go," he said siply before walking out, leaving Liz to cry in the booth alone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maria had rushed over to Michael's. He'd called ehr. he'd actually called her, but he was so upset. She could barely make out anything from him, so she'd told him she'd be right over and hung up. When she reached his door, she didn't take the time to knock, she just rushed straight in. "Michael?" she called out.
"In here," he called back to her, obviously shaken from his bedroom.
Maria moved back to his room and her heart broke at whatshe saw. She'd never seen Michael upset let alone helpless looking. She moved over to the bed and sat next to him, placing an arm around his shoulders. "Hey, what's wrong?" she asked gently.
Michael turned into her embrace, gaining control of himself. His bet friend. His brother more or less was dead. And it was ahrd to think, but near impossible to say. He just hung onto Maria, trying to keep the peices together. And what was great was that Maria didn't make him talk, she just held him, let him take his time. Let him pull himself together. When he finally did that he pulled away only a short distance. "Max died last night," he whispered barely audibly.
Maria's eyes widened at the news. She knew Max was in the hospital, but he'd died. "Oh my God Michael," she said, skipping the are you okay question, sicne the answer was obvious. "I'm sorry," she said, her mind also skipping to Liz. Did she know? She'd have to chec on Liz later. "Do you need anything?" she asked Michael, trying to do soemthing for him.
Michael shook his head. "Just don't go, not yet," he requested, receiving a nod from the strawberry blonde as an answer. Good, she'd stay with him for a while. He needed that. He needed what Maria ahd. The love, the comfoting he'd always pushed away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Isabel had been numb since she'd found out. Absolutely numb. Like her body ahdn't quite processed it all yet. She hadn't cried or gotten angry, r anything. It was like her mind had gone on pause and was still trying to figure out where the play button was. her parents were both wrecks. And it killed ehr to be around them. And it probably killed them to be around ehr. As emotionless as she ahd become. She knew when it set in thought the tears would fall, and fall. And they may never stop coming. Her brother was dead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kyle had been worried about Tess, she'd spent the whole day in her room, refusing to come out or eat, or let anyone in. He knew it had to do with Max. And he kenw her heart was probably breaking, but he felt helpless to help her. Especially sicne she wasn't ready for it. Suddenly her door cracked open and Kyle snapped around to face it. "Hey," he said softly, waiting for her to coem to him, if she was going to.
"Hey," Tess added airily with a sigh as she moved out of the room. She looked to Kyle. There was now ay he could understand. Max was dead. Maybe not her soulmate here, but her soulmate in another lifetime. And with him had died her chance at being loved. As well as her hoeps and dreams. Everything she'd worked for was all gone now. All null and void. her life so far had been worthless and wasted. She moved into the room and sat silently next to Kyle. Out of all ehrtime in Roswell the only thing she'd gained other than enemies was this man's friendship. She leaned ehr head agisnt his shoulder and then the tears came again. The tears of everything lost. And then came comfort. Comfort to something she ahd thought would have no comfort. And then she thought that maybe she had done something afterall.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Liz rolled over onto hwr abck, giving her pillow some relief from all the tears that had flowed. That had never stopped coming. He was gone. Max was dead. And all she'd found energy to do so far was cry. Maria and Alex had come and tried to comfort her, talk to her, just sit with her, but Liz ahd sent her away. She didn't want company. she wanted to grieve alone. She wantd to grieve until she felt like doing something about it. Until she felt like getting revenge.

Then there was a soft rap at ehr window and Liz's head jerked up and she sat up, wondering who it could be, wondering if she wanted to find out. Then the knocking became more peristant and she sighed. Whoever it was. She obvisouly wasn't getting away with notseeing them. She slowly rose to ehr feet and amde ehr way to the window. Her eyes widened at what she found on the other side. "Oh my God," she said upon seeing ehr guest. "Come in," she ushered them into her room. Shocked that they were here.

Okay, so there's that part. Anyway, let me know what you think. Please post feedback, and I'll probably write more soon, but now I have to go do my piles upon piles of work, lol.

Okay, so here's the next aprt, or what I can writ in ten minutes anyway. Hope you enjoy. *happy*

Max moved in through Liz's wondow with a smile. He could hear ehr heart beating and smell the young blood coursing through her veins.

Liz continued to look dumfounded at Max. This wasn't possible was it? Could he really be here? Was she dreaming? "Is this real?" she said softly.

Max nodded his head,"It's real." he moved closer to her.

Yeah, right, like dream Max would answer that it wasn't. Liz's senses went off as Max moved clsoer to her, but not wanting to tie it to him, she brushed it off. As his body came closer and he pulled her into a kiss she felt the coldness that ahd taken him over and was eminating off of him. "You're freezing," she his kisses moved to her neck. She pulled away from him to see him in full vampire mode. her eyes widened for the millionth time that night it seemed. So it was too good to be true? Of course it was. No way would she jsut get Max back.

"What's wrong, baby," Max asked, a condescending lilt entering his tone, almost taunting her,"You could join me. It'd be a first. A Vampire slayer turned vampire. we could be together forever, truly."

That's all I ahve time for...hope it hold you over. And a sorry to Roswell Slayer...he's not staying dead, well not compeletely...undead Max ahd to come out and play for a little while. I'm a big fan of vampires, lol.

Sorry about the long hiatus. School started and well it's really kicking me all over town. I probably shouldn't even be on now, lol. But anyway here's another part.

Liz's eyes widend as she backed away from Max. Max was a vampire? It couldn't be. How could she have not known? How could she have let him in? Her head was spinning as she took it all in. Her mind went blank, completely blank, as Max approached her and brushed the hair away from her neck. As he leaned in, her hand found it's way to a vial of holy water. She untwisted the cap and threw it in his face without thinking. His skin immediately began burning and he recoiled. Her heart broke as she saw him in pain. She tried to force it not to, but it did anyway.

Max stumbled back a few feet as flesh caught on fire. he let out a cry of pain. "Damnit, Liz," he said angrily as he stood agian, to see, not the frightened girl he'd cornered against a dresser, but a girl ready to fight. And he knew that that was a fight he was not ready for yet. As Max ran out into the night there was a knock on Liz's door, preventing her from following him. She pulled the door open to reveal her parents. She let out a heavy sigh.

"Liz, are you okay?" he mother asked concerned as her father barked,"What are you doing in here?"

"Nothing," Liz answered quickly,"Everything's fine."

"Are you sure," her father asked, trying to see into the room with no luck.

Liz rolled ehr eyes and opened the door all the way. "I'm sure," she reiterated and ehr parents seemed content enough with the empty room, her father nodding as they moved abck down the hall.

Liz clsoed the door and sighed releaved as she leaned agaisnt it, blowing her bangs out of her face. That was most definately close. Buffy, she needed to tlak to Buffy. She grabbed her jacket and exited through the window.

When Liz finally reached where she knew Buffy was staying she knocked on the door. When no one answered she gave the door a good pounding. Moments later is was flung open by a freshly awakened distraught Buffy.

Buffy had expected it to be one of the old gang. She'd expected them to have something on their tale or a report, but instead she saw the other vampire slayer standing there. Not to say that it couldn't be a report, but judging from the look on Liz's face, it wasn't. She looked broken. And that look wasn't a stranger to Buffy. She reached out and barely got her arms wrapped around the girl before she broke down in tears. "He's dead," Buffy heard, the words excaped Liz's lips barely audibly.

"Who?" Buffy asked softly, confused.

"Max," was the quiet answer from Liz. Now Buffy knew why she was so upset. Knew what it felt like. She had had to kill Angel, or Angelus anyway. Her arms tightened around Liz as she tried to calm her down.

When Liz had calmedalittle she looked up at Buffy, feeling suddenly awkward. "I'm sorry," she said,"But he's not really dead. He's a vampire."

Buffy studied Liz in utter disbelief. How? How could it parallel to her own life so much? "Liz, I'm so sorry," she said honestly. Maybe this was something Buffy needed to do. To be strong for Liz. To help Liz through this since she'd been there herself. "I know what it feels like."

Liz looked at her incredulously. The look bordering on a glare. "And how could you know that?"

Okay, so maybe now wasn't the best time for a heart to heart, but it was too late to stop now. "My first boyfriend as a vampire slayer was a vampire....with a soul. We slept together and he went evil. I had to kill him, send him into the mouth of Hell to save the Earth." She decided to give Liz the cliff notes version, since this could be too much to handle at once.

Liz looked at her stunned,"So how did you deal?"

Buffy sighed. That was indeed a longer story. "At first I didn't. I ran. As in I really packed up all my things and ran away. And then when I came home, I couldn't talk about it, I wouldn't. I was hiding from everyone. But eventually, it gets easier, and you move on. And the hole inside of you doesn't seem so big anymore. And you meet someone new...." She trailed off, knowing at this point Liz couldn't possibly be thinking about meeting anyone new.

Liz nodded slowly,"So I guess it worked out good for you." Buffy nodded silently.

"And it will for you too," she finally said to Liz. Liz gave her a look that siad she hoped so before glancing away.

"Liz," Buffy said, not wanting to rpess, but wanting to make her aware that it wasn't over, that they'd have to kill Max.

As if knowing what Buffy was going to say, Liz looked at her and simply said,"I know what I have to do."

Okay, so here's another aprt...the stories been lacking...well almost anything itneresting lately, but my writer's block is gone..I'm not writing with a fever, and inspiration has returned. So here it is...a new part.

Part 8: The Difficulty of Choosing Sides (couldn't resist naming it, lol)

Buffy looked around at the group gathered in the Crashdown after hours. Everyone was here and it ahd been almost deafeningly quiet for the past few minutes. "Okay we've gathered you all here for some slaying 101," she began, sick of the silence.

"Well isn't it pretty self explanatory," Michael said beligerantly,"A stake through the heart, sunlight, crosses, holy water. Standard movie stuff."

Buffy rolled her eyes. She didn't like the way this guy was acting. It was grating her nerves. "This is nothing like standard movie stuff. It's not fake. It's real, very real. They fight back...and they kill," she siad. She sighed before continuing with more impotant things,"And beheading works too. You, a vampire, and an exact knife can get the job done. And they can't come in to private property, unless you invite them."

"And why do we need this?" Michael demanded,"I mean we don't have to fight unless we want to."

Liz took a deep breath,"Well with the Hellmouth having opened and everything coming out, we're going to need as much help fighting as we can get..." Liz waited for a reaction when all she really got was a few dumbfounded stares she continued,"And to protect yourselves...me or Buffy can't always be with you if you go out at night...And Max is a vampire..." She trailed off, her voice dropping as she said the last part.

"What?" Michael exploded raising to his feet.

"He's a vampire," Buffy restated.

Michael faltered slightly as the gravity of what was being said sunk in and he sunk to his seat again. Left speechless.

Liz looked pointedly to the Roswell crowd and said,"And don't forget that the Hellmouth wa near the caves." she emphasized the word caves. The vampires may have found a way in and that could be trouble.

"What about the caves?" Buffy asked slowly, suspiciously. There was something else going on here.

"Nothing," Liz said a little too quickly,"Just a reminder."

"Targeted at them," Buffy pointed out, implying they were hiding something, covering it up. "We can't work too well together if there's lots of secrets."

"It's nothing," Tess piped in, sounding more sincere than Liz had, trying to get Buffy off of there scent.

Buffy nodded, but she wasn't quite sold, she'd definately have to check out the caves later.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that night, Buffy walked towards the desert she and Liz had visited a few nights ago. Where the Hellmouth was. More importantly where these questionable caves were. When she reached them she gave the area a quicksurvey with both eyes and senses to amke sure no one was there. She then began circling around them. Okay, this was crazy. The caves ahd had an entrance the other night. They'd been caves, not rocks. Where oh where had th doorway gone? she wondered to herself as she continud looking.
She heard footsteps on the sand behind ehr and spun around to face the person standing behind her. She came face to face with Mr. All knowing. His name was Michael or something.
Michael had been waiting for ehr out in the desert. He kenw she'd come to investigate and completely intended to keep ehr from finding out their secret, however necessary.
"What're you doing here?" Buffy asked,"Trying to keep me from finding whatever you're hiding?" She raised an eyebrow at him.
Michael did falter. "I knew you'd come out ehre snooping wround," he accused.
"And you get a gold star," Buffy said dryly,"here I am."
"You should leave," Michael siad simply. he didn't want to do anything. If Liz found out eh wa here especially if he hurt Buffy he knew it would cause problems. For some reason though he just didn't feel he could trust Buffy with the information that they were aliens.
"Was that a threat?" Buffy asked simply,"Because I don't plan on leaving until I find a way inside there." She pointed at the rocks.
Well Good luck, Michael thought since the only thing that opened it was an aliens handprint. Then Buffy started to walk away. He reached out and grabbed her, spinning her back around to where she'd been.
Buffy instinctively countergrabbed, taking grip on his arm and pulled him into a knee in the stomach, to free ehrself from his grip. Michael doubled over grabbing his stomach and Buffy began on her search again. God, that guy was annoying.
Then suddenly Buffy felt the ground under her feet be replaced by air as she flew a great deal in the desert, landing on the groun unconscious.
"I didn't want to do that," Michael mumbles after he'd blasted her away from their caves.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"I'm telling you he's a demon," Buffy said again,"He had this power..."

She was met by Giles's critical glare again. "I'm serious," she continued her argument,"He's obviously hiding something. *They're* obviously hiding something. And I was getting to close tonight, so he used some demon mojo and threw me across the desert. And not with his hands either. And okay not *all* the way across the desert."

Giles sighed. Buffy ahd pretty compeling information. "Well perhaps he is, but before we jump to conclusions..."

"I should tail him, get evidence, do some recon," Buffy finished for him. she looked to the rest of the group,"And until then, we consider them enemies."
