Disclaimer: I own nothing!
Summary: Okay so this technically isn’t sleeping beauty but I had it in mind when I wrote it…heh…anyways for a summary just read it. It explains almost everything in part 2.
Category: Max/Liz and everyone else mixed in. I’m still debating if I should add Jesse into this and get someone else for Alex. Hmm we’ll see I guess.
Rating: For now I’d say PG-13 but later who knows!!
Lizzie come on! Pleeeeasee?” Maria whined
“No. No way. Maria no.” Liz said shaking her head and staring at her cousin like she had two heads.
“God Liz you are such a baby!”
“Oh and you aren’t?” Liz replied amused “Look you took Kyle’s snake out and you can put it away” she said smiling at Maria.
“Hey! I did not take that thing out! The cage fell when I bumped into the table it was sitting on.“ she said innocently.
“Well someone has to put it away!” Liz said exasperated
“You know, why is he even allowed to have a snake? On second thought who in their right mind would even want one?”
“I don’t know. Just pick it up and put it back before Kyle comes home.”
Maria looked to Liz with a sense of dread. She bent down and just before her hand touched the snake she popped back up and shook her head “I…I can’t. I can’t do it. I can not touch that thing. I’m a girl Liz. Girls are not supposed to touch snakes.”
Liz laughed at Maria “It will be okay. Just pick it up and put it back”
“You don’t understand I can’t. It’s gross.”
“Fine. We’ll do it together okay. On the count of three. Are you ready?” Liz asked Maria who was closing her eyes and looked as though she might die at any second.
“Yup. I’m ready. You can just call me ready girl.”
“Well I might believe you a little more if you would open your eyes.”
“Right. Eyes opened. Lets just hurry up. Kyle and dad should be home anytime.”
“Okay one…two…three” Liz said and they bent down and picked the snake up then replaced it in its cage.
“Oh my god that was so”
“Gross!” Liz finished for Maria.
“Yeah” Maria said and then they both fell into a heap of laughter. They were jumping up and down and were too busy to notice Amy standing in the doorway watching them. As Amy watched them her thoughts drifted back to almost sixteen years prior.
It was a joyous day throughout the kingdom. Her sister the queen had just given birth to a healthy baby girl. Princess Elizabeth Aurora Parker. This meant that Jeff and Philip could finally unite their kingdoms. Elizabeth was betrothed to Philips son Maxwell only hours after she was brought into the world.
The next night there was a celebration at the palace. Philip and Jeff were going to announce the betrothing of Max and Elizabeth. Amy was wandering throughout the palace looking for her husband Jim when she overheard Kivhar speaking to his wife’s brother Nicholas. Kivhar was Philips trusted second in command and was plotting with Nicholas to murder Elizabeth before she came of age. That way his daughter Tessa would be next in line to marry Max and would be queen.
After hearing this Amy gave up her search for her husband and immediately went to her sister. Once she relayed what she heard to Jeff and Nancy they told Philip and Diane. Together they decided that they would fake Amy and her family’s deaths along with Elizabeth’s. The five of them would then go deep into the woods to a cottage where they would live as peasants. When Elizabeth’s sixteenth birthday came along they would her secretly back to the palace and she would wed Max.
Amy continued to watch the girls and was reminded of how it felt to have a sister. Sure Liz and Maria technically weren’t sisters but they acted as if they were. Amy and Nancy had been extremely close and it was horrible when they were separated. Especially on Nancy because she not only lost her sister but her child as well. That was something Amy hoped she would never have to experience. The loss of a child. She would never forget the look on Jeff and Nancy’s face as they held their toddler son Alex close to them while watching Jim and Amy disappear into the night with their daughter.
“MOTHER!” Maria yelled obviously amused. This broke Amy out of her trance and she frowned at her vivacious daughter.
“Maria. A lady does not raise her voice.” She said sternly while Maria rolled her eyes. “Now what was it you wanted?”
“Oh nothing really we were just wondering what you wanted.”
“What I wanted?” she questioned
“Yeah auntie you were just standing at the doorway looking at us so we figured you wanted something.” Liz replied.
“Right I did want something. I wanted you girls to come help me in the kitchen. I want to have supper ready for when Jim and Kyle get home.”
The girls shrugged and went into the kitchen. Amy let out a sigh and proceeded into the kitchen. Soon she would be back in the palace. Liz’s birthday was only two days away. And with that thought Amy felt a sense of dread. Something was going to happen, something bad. She just hoped that her suspicion was wrong.

Maxiesdreamgirl: I just wanted to tell you that I just started reading your fic Without you and I love it!!!! I haven’t left fb on it yet bc I’m still in the process of reading it but omg do I love it!!
Max was bored. He finished with his studies early and there was nothing else to do. He wandered around the palace aimlessly and came to halt when he saw her. Tessa was sitting on one of the garden benches next to the water fountain. He slowly turned around hoping to go unnoticed by her. She was a nice girl really, one of his sister’s best friends but she was always too pushy with him. She knew that Max had yet to choose a bride and frankly she wanted it to her. He wasn’t in any hurry though. He knew that when he met the right girl he would know. His parents never pushed him to find a bride anyways. Max figured it was because of Elizabeth. She had been betrothed to him but died when she was still a baby. He knew that they probably didn’t want to bring up the subject of marriage with him because of the fact that the Parkers were close to them and they didn’t want to remind them of their loss. He was pulled out his thoughts by someone calling his name.
“Max” Tessa said smiling at him.
“Hi Tess” he replied returning the smile.
“What brings you out here?” she asked
“Oh just boredom. I finished with my studies early and found nothing to do in the palace so I came out here for a walk. And why are you out here?” he questioned.
“I love it out here. It’s such a beautiful day I couldn’t stay cooped up in the palace.”
“I know how you feel. I think I may go for a ride this evening”
“How nice.” She smiled at him
A long awkward pause ensued her last remark. He didn’t know what else to talk about with her. That was how he knew she would never be someone he could love. She was beautiful and smart and everything that most men would want but for some reason he could never find anything to say to her. He saw his sister coming from behind Tess and was headed in their direction.
Thankful for the interruption he called out to his sister. “Isabel why are you out here? I thought you weren’t fond of the outdoors”
“Ha ha Max. I’m here because Mother and Father want to have a word with you immediately. They said it was extremely important so I suggest you go.
“Alright then. Goodbye Tessa it was nice speaking with you.”
“Bye Maxwell” Tessa replied
“See you” Isabel said to her brother and then turned to her friend.
Max headed to his parents living quarters and when he got there he found both his parents waiting for him.
“Max come in and have a seat.” His father instructed
“Is told me you needed to see me immediately” he said while taking a seat. “is something the matter?” he asked
“No nothing at all. Actually it’s time for a celebration!” his father exclaimed happily.
“What’s going on?” Max asked suspiciously.
“Max you’ll have to forgive your father. He’s just quite excited right now. He met with Jeff earlier and we have good news for you.” His mother said calmly. She knew her son and she knew that this news wasn’t going to be good to him at all.
“Well what is this exquisite news you have to tell me father.”
Philip smiled at his son and replied “Elizabeth Parker is alive and you are to be married on her sixteenth birthday!”
“WHAT!” Max shouted. “I didn’t ask for this! Why would you think it is a good thing?”
“Max watch your tone. I thought you would be happy to know that Elizabeth is alive.” His father said.
“Of course I’m happy she is not dead! I’m happy the Parkers have their daughter back and Alex gets his sister back but in no way am I happy that I have to marry her.”
“Max calm down. I have to explain this all to you. You are not tell a soul she is alive. Do you understand me?” he looked to his son and waited to continue until he was sure he had Max’s attention “I mean it. Not your sister, not Michael, no one”
“Maxwell, we always knew what happened to Elizabeth. Amy, Nancy’s sister, had overheard Kivar while he was plotting to kill Elizabeth. He wanted Tessa to be queen and she would have been if Elizabeth were dead. So Jeff faked Amy and James death along with Elizabeth’s and their two children. They went deep into the woods and have hidden there. Elizabeth will be sixteen in two days. She will be brought here in secret and you will have a secret ceremony. Once you are married Kivar will be imprisoned for his intentions against the future queen.”
“Okay dad this makes no sense. Why wait sixteen years before you take action against him? Why didn’t you immediately get rid of him?” Max asked perplexed
“It was safer this way. Once you are married to Elizabeth she will be the future queen of our people. Any act of wrongdoing committed against her is punished with death. Now I know that her father is a king but to our people that means nothing. He isn’t their king. So this way no one in the kingdom will try to harm their future queen.” Philip explained to Max.
“I’m sorry. But I won’t marry her. I’ll abdicate. Let Isabel have the throne. I don’t care. But I don’t want to marry her.”
“You will marry and that is the end!” his father shouted
“Calm down. Both of you. Philip let’s give Max time to think about this.” She said while dragging her husband away. “Maxwell I trust you will think about this. So many sacrifices were made so this marriage to take place and I would hate for them all to have been for nothing.” She said to her son and then left the room.
Max didn’t know what to do or think. It was all so much to take in. He stormed out of the room and headed out of the palace to the stables. He needed to clear his head so he went to get his horse and then rode off into the woods.

Liz was walking through the forest and she had been for hours. After her uncle and Kyle came home they had dinner and once they were through she excused herself to come out for a walk.
She did this all the time. Sometimes Maria or Kyle would go with her but mainly she went alone. She’d go wandering then sit down by a pond and write in her journal. She came there anytime she felt she needed to get away.
She approached her favorite spot and dipped her feet in the cool water. She sighed and sat down just taking in the sites. After a few minutes she pulled out her journal and began writing.
Max rode as far away from the palace as he could get. He didn’t want to be difficult and he was starting to feel guilty about the way he left things with his father. He knew his dad only wanted what was best for him. It just wasn’t fair though. He didn’t ask to be king and with all the responsibility he had he thought it was only fair that he could choose his own queen. He sighed knowing very well that even if he fought against his impending nuptials, in the end he would have to marry Elizabeth.
Max got off his horse and sat down by a tree. He didn’t know what to do about this whole marriage thing. What about Elizabeth? What if she was just as resistant about this marriage as he was? Surely their parents wouldn’t make the two of them marry if neither wanted to. He caught some movement out of the corner of his eye and got up to investigate it. Slowly he made his way over to a clearing and saw the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen sitting by a pond. Her dark chocolate hair stopped right in the middle of her back. She seemed so intent on what she was doing. Her face was scrunched as she furiously wrote. He thought it was the most adorable thing as her facial expressions changed as she wrote.
Quietly Max approached her and sat down. “Thinking hard?” he asked, a smile evident in his voice.
Startled her head flew up and her dark eyes were greeted with the most beautiful sight she had ever seen. This stranger was definitely the most handsome man she had ever seen. He had the most amazing amber eyes that had these little brown specks in them. She found herself being drawn into them. Her voice was caught in her throat and she couldn’t look away from him.
He smiled widely at her and Liz was sure that if she had been standing her knees would have given out.
“I hope you don’t mind me barging in on you. I could leave if I’m making you uncomfortable.” He said. When she hadn’t spoken he thought maybe he was wrong in coming over here. He just hoped she didn’t ask him to leave because he wasn’t sure he would be able to if she asked. He couldn’t stop looking at her and he didn’t want to leave.
Her eyes widened and she shook her head no vigorously. “No, I’m sorry I just…you startled me that’s all.” She smiled at him graciously.
“I’m sorry I startled you….” he apologized and realized he had yet to get her name.
“Aurora” she lied quickly while smiling at him
He returned the smile “I’m sorry Aurora I didn’t mean to scare you. I won’t do it again. I promise”
“It’s alright. I don’t mind.” She said “And since you know my name I think it’s only fair you tell me yours” she smiled
“Right. It’s only fair. My name is Philip.” He told her.
“So Philip do you always walk through the woods startling girls?” she asked playfully.
“Only the pretty ones” he smiled
She blushed. He was flirting with her! “Right” she rolled her eyes at him and laid down on the grass.
He looked down at her and grinned ear to ear. Liz melted. He had the most amazing smile. “Here lay down” she instructed while patting the ground next her.
Max did as he was told and once he laid down she turned on her side and smiled at him. “I love doing this when I come here” she turned and looked up at the sky. It was getting late out and the stars were shining brightly. “The sky it’s so pretty. I love just looking up at the stars. It’s so beautiful.”
“It is” he said then looked over at her. “And so are you”
She looked at his face but couldn’t meet his eyes. She was relieved it was getting dark and he couldn’t see the blush that had crept to her face.
He put his finger under her chin and lifted her face to meet him. He looked into her eyes and said, “You are. I don’t know what it is about you but I feel like I know you. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before.” He admitted
“Really?” she questioned, her eyes shinning.
“Really.” he assured her
“I feel the same way. Your familiar to me and that scares me.”
“Don’t be scared. I want to kiss you right now. Can I kiss you?” he asked
She nodded her head slowly and he leaned in. She met him half way and their mouths fused together in a gentle kiss. Soon the gentleness of the kiss was lost as she opened her mouth and his tongue found hers. They were caught up in the passion of the kiss as their tongues dueled. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down towards her. He weaved his hands in her hair and continued to kiss her. When the need for air became insatiable they let the kiss end. He rested his forehead to hers and both of them were breathing heavily.
Shyly she looked up at him through her downcast lashes. He smiled at her and she smiled back wrapping herself around him in a tight hug. They stayed like that for a while just enjoying being in each others presence, when the sound of someone’s yelling broke through the silence.
“Liz! Elizabeth where are you?!”
Liz’s head shot up and looked around quickly. She recognized the voice as Maria’s and she was trying to see if she could see her. Then another voice was added to Maria’s. It was Kyle’s. She was sure she could explain this to Maria but Kyle would definitely tell her aunt and uncle. She couldn’t let that happen because she knew they would forbid her from seeing him ever again.
“Looks like Liz is going to be getting into some trouble” Max joked when he heard the yelling.
Quickly she dislodged herself from his arms and stood up. She bent down and grabbed her journal and then looked to a confused Max who was now standing also.
“I have to go. I’m sorry I but I have to get home” she said hurriedly
“Right now? Let me take you then I don’t want you out here all alone.” He said
“No. I mean I’ll be fine. Really. I promise.” She flashed him a smile “But if I don’t get home now I’m going to get into trouble. I’m not even supposed to be talking to strangers let alone kissing them”
“Aurora please I just want to make sure you’ll be okay.”
“I know but if my uncle saw us…” she trailed off
“You’re right. I’m sorry. Can I see you again?” he asked hoping she would say yes. He didn’t think he could live his life without ever seeing her again.
“Of course. Meet me here tomorrow around noon. I can usually manage to sneak away at that time.”
“I’ll be here” he sighed
She smiled at him quickly and turned to leave “I’ll be waiting” she yelled over her shoulder and then suddenly she was pulled against him and his lips were on her. She sighed into his mouth and wrapped her arms around him pulling him closer. She opened her mouth to him and flicked his tongue in her mouth then pulled away.
“Sweet dreams beautiful. Now go. I don’t want you in trouble”
She smiled at him sweetly and leaned up and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. She then pulled away and ran off towards her house.
Sorry this was short. I will post part 5 tonight or tomorrow afternoon! I hope you enjoy this and Thanks to everyone who left me feedback!
