CATEGORY: MAX AND LIZ
SUMMARY: Has nothing to do with the movie The Bodyguard, besides the fact that Liz is a famous singer and Max is hired to protect her. Sparks FLY!!!
“I’m still your dreamgirl…”
The lights on stage dimmed as Elizabeth Parker’s honey voice caressed the final melodious notes of her newest single, Dreamgirl.
Applause thundered through the packed auditorium as the stage lit back up to reveal a smiling Liz to the devoted fans.
“Thank you all for coming tonight and don’t forget “Fantasies” comes out this week!” she said into the mike before blowing a kiss to the crowd and heading backstage.
The sound of clapping still filling the air, Liz was met halfway by a stage-crew worker who immediately handed her a dry towel.
“Thanks, Javier,” she said, wiping the light sheen of perspiration from her pretty face.
As she headed back to her dressing room, she was bombarded by several fans and she stopped politely to sign autographs before making her way back to the spacious room she had all to herself.
Shutting the door behind her, she sighed in relief as she began taking off her skin-tight white dress and matching white boots.
As she stood in her lacy white bra and thong, the door suddenly opened and Liz turned to find her agent Jim Valenti standing there along with an attractive dark-haired man.
“Elizabeth, I need to… oh gosh! I’m sorry! I thought you were already dressed!” Jim said. Shielding his eyes in embarrassment.
Liz smiled wryly and raised an eyebrow. “Well, perhaps next time you should knock,” she pointed out and the older man’s face turned deeper red.
“Well, get dressed! I want you to meet someone.”
Liz’s eyes flickered to the dark-haired mystery man who was currently staring at her in a mixture of surprise, amusement, and approval.
Liz let her gaze travel up and down the man’s well-built body, taking in the broad shoulders, tapered waist and muscled legs before looking back up into his eyes.
They were a deep golden brown and added a soulful air to the sexiness that surrounded him.
As she met his gaze, Liz could see that he was checking her out as well, and she felt her body heat up in response.
Turning around, she pulled on a pair of comfy designer jeans and a v-neck – casual yet sexy – and turned back to the men.
“So… what brings you to my dressing room?” Liz asked as she took a seat on a satin brocade chair, crossing her legs as she got comfortable.
“I want you to meet Maxwell Evans,” Jim said, gesturing to the man standing behind him. “He’s your new bodyguard.”
Liz’s mouth opened and she shook her head. “I already told you, Jim. I don’t WANT a bodyguard!”
“Well, despite what you want, you NEED one,” Jim replied calmly. “Especially after the little fiasco in Seattle.”
Liz bit her lip, a cold shiver running down her spine as she thought back to the crazed fan that had been stalking her on her last tour.
“Well, that was a one time thing,” she declared, “I don’t need a babysitter!”
“Liz, it’s just precaution, practically everyone has a bodyguard these days. Britney, Christina…”
Liz’s face scrunched. “Please do NOT put me into a category with the Tramp Twins.”
Mr. Brown Eyes snickered and Liz glared at him in response.
“Liz, please, work with me here. It’s for your own safety,” Jim pleaded. “Anyway, it’s not like Max is going to be going with you to the bathroom! We’re just talking hanging out backstage at concerts, escorting you to a few engagements…”
Liz sighed. “What if I want another escort?”
“Fine, as long as they know that your bodyguard will be there too.”
Liz’s eyes narrowed, but she sighed in agreement. “If it will get you off my back then fine!”
Jim smiled happily and turned to Max. “Great! I’ll make sure that your things are shipped to Miss Parker’s estate in good condition. Meanwhile, you will get a ride there with Liz tonight…”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” Liz stood up, shaking her head in disbelief. “You’re not saying he is staying with me?!”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying, Elizabeth. He will be staying in the guest bedroom of your house.”
“No! I didn’t agree to that!” Liz declared vehemently. “I don’t want him there! I like it by myself!”
“Elizabeth… Max is staying with you until things die down. That is the end of the story,” Jim said calmly but with finality.
With that, he turned and walked out, leaving Liz and Max alone.
Max stood there, his amber eyes studying her intently as she paced the room. He chuckled softly as he watched her mumble to herself.
Liz heard the soft laugh and turned to him. “What do you think is so funny?” she snapped. “You think I need a babysitter?”
“No Miss Parker,” he replied, his deep voice rumbling through the room, sending a pleasant shiver through Liz’s body.
But she chose to ignore it and walked up to him. “Good, because I don’t. And while we’re at it, let’s get a few things straight. Fist of all, I am a very capable 22 year old woman and I don’t need some egotistical, chauvinistic, know-it-all male trying to dictate my life. You work for me, okay?”
Max raised an eyebrow, but nodded.
“Secondly, I am not looking for some kind of fling, so if you think you have a chance with me, think again. Just because you are living in my house does not mean we are living together!”
“It doesn’t?” Max asked, scratching his head. “Because, I just assumed that with my huge ego I could maybe persuade you to have a sordid affair with me,” he said sarcastically.
Liz stared at him in shock, then gave a small grin. Hmm… maybe this guy would be interesting after all. “Whatever. Let’s go, I have to get up tomorrow morning for a facial.”
“Whatever you say, Miss Parker,” Max replied, his eyes gleaming as he followed her.

|Um.. this next part probably sucks really bad! I am so sorry guys, but I wrote it really fast so I could have SOMETHING to post! Sorry to be AWOL these past couple days, but I am dealing with baby stuff! Anyway, hope this isn't too bad!|
"So, this is your place..." Max said as he and Liz entered a spacious three story mansion nestled in the hills of southern California. "You live here by yourself?"
"Well, not anymore," Liz said wryly, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. "But yeah, I did. I had some people who would come clean for me, but I like my privacy so..."
"Understandable," Max nodded, his eyes sweeping the interior of her house. "I guess that's why you are so adamant about me not being here?"
Liz flushed slightly. "Not YOU necessarily, just... anyone. I can take care of myself."
"What happened in Seattle?"
"What, Jim didn't fill you in when he hired you?" Liz spat out.
Max stared at her in shock. Her attitude had changed from nice to sarastic in point five seconds. "Excuse me?"
Liz sighed, slumping into a chair. "No big deal... a fan just got a little carried away one night and thought he could break into my hotel room."
"No big deal? Liz... he could have hurt you," Max said in concern.
Liz eyed him suspiciously. "Why do you care, huh? I'm just the job to you. Look... why don't you go upstairs and get comfortable. The guest bedroom is the third on the left."
Max opened his mouth to reply, but thought better of it when Liz clamped her eyes shut and began massaging her head. "As you wish, Miss Parker," he murmured.
Liz tried to ignore the shiver that went down her spine at his gentle tone. She opened her eyes to find him walking up the winding staircase towards his room.
As she heard the door shut, she sighed.
Why had she acted like that?
Max had been nothing but nice to her since she'd met him, and she still bit his head off for no reason. It wasn't his fault that her manager had decided she needed protection.
She heard the shower come on and sighed again.
She needed to apologize. Just because she didn't really need him didn't mean she had to treat him like crap.
A few minutes later, the shower turned off and Liz made her way up the stairs. She headed to Max's new bedroom and knocked lightly on the door.
"Come in," a soft voice called and Liz opened the door.
"Listen, Max. I am really sor-"
Liz's mouth dropped open when she caught sight of Max standing there in a towel, rivulets of water running down his behr muscled chest.
"Liz? Are you alright?" Max asked, taking a step forward. Liz's eyes fluttered and then widened.
"NO!! I'm fine! Ijsutwantedtosaysorry... goodnight!" she stammered as she slammed the door shut and fell against it.
Taking a deep breath she tried to keep shake the image of Max's chisled body from her mind.
Maybe this was going to be harder than she thought.
The next morning, Max awoke promptly at five, falling out of his bed and doing three solid sets of pushups before stepping into the shower.
After getting dressed, he headed downstairs to find Liz already dressed and heading out the door.
"Where are you going?" he asked suspiciously.
Liz whirled around, her hand to her heart. "Jesus! Max! Um... what are you doing up?" she asked casually after her heart stopped pounding.
Max smiled wryly at her innocent expression and crossed his arms over his chest. "I could ask you the same thing, Miss Parker."
"Well... I... I just..." Liz stuttered, then groaned. "Alright!! I was going out, okay? You caught me!"
Max became serious. "I'm not trying to catch you, Miss Parker. I just want to make sure you're safe. That's my job."
Liz sighed. "Then I suppose you're coming with me?"
Max flashed her a smile. "Let me get my coat."
Liz tried not to stare at Max as she ran over her latest dance choreography with her coach. He was standing up against the wall, his eyes trained on her intently.
She could feel her body heating up and she missed the intro completely.
"Elizabeth, Elizabeth!! Wake up! Where are you today?" Steven clapped his hands together as Liz snapped her head to look at him.
"Oh, sorry," she blushed, turning back to her dancers. "I um... I didn't get a lot of sleep last night."
Steven sighed and clapped his hands again, his high-pitched voice resonating through the large studio. "Okay, take fifteen everyone!"
A group of girl dancers began giggling.
"Wow! Did you see that guy with Liz?"
"Damn, he's fine! I wonder what the deal with them is?"
"He's probably not with her, right? I mean, isn't she dating Josh Hartnett?"
"I thought they were just seen at that premiere together?"
"Weren't they like childhood friends or something?"
"Well, if she's with Josh... than she wouldn't mind me moving in on Mr. Dark and Handsome," Pam drawled, licking her lips as she devoured Max with her blue eyes.
Liz stiffened as she heard Pam's comment. For some reason, the idea of Pam's hands all over Max made her want to scream.
She turned and walked over to Max, taking his arm and pulling him aside.
"Let's go get something to eat," she said firmly, glaring at Pam from across the room, clearly stating her authority.
Pam glared back, and Liz's grip tightened.
Max was oblivious to the war raging between the two. "But I thought you only had fifteen minutes?" he scratched his head in confusion.
Liz smiled sweetly at him. "Max... I am Liz Parker. If I want to leave and never come back there is nothing ol Steve can do about it. Trust me, alright?"
Max raised an eyebrow. "I don't know.... "
Liz bit her lip, then her eyes lit up. "Well, I'm going whether you like it or not. So if you plan on being my manly bodyguard, then you'll just have to come, too," she declared triumphantly.
With that, she turned and walked out the doors, leaving a bewildered and slightly impressed Max behind her.
