Author: Ria, Maria, DreamingOfMax84.... Hell, I even answer to “Hey you!”
Rating: PG-13 ~ possibly NC-17.... so watch out kiddies!!
Couple: Mostly DREAMER, but M/M and A/I will be mentioned too.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.... wait I own my diamond engagement ring, my school books, my cell phone, and of course my lovely fiancé. Just kidding. I own nothing that has to do with Roswell or any of its affiliates.
Summary: Okay, I suck at summaries, so I don’t think I’ll even attempt it. Let’s just say that it’s a Dreamer fic with a twist. You’ll have to read it to find out the twist, though. Although I do have to add that Tess didn’t kill herself. (Dodges rotten food) Okay don’t kill me just yet, she’ll get her just desserts for her evilness, just not in the first few chapters. You’ll see....
Note: I just wanted to let y’all know that this fic was inspired by 3 fabulous things. Anne’s (Cookie2697) fic Hope Alone, great fic by the way; the song “Live for Real” by K’s Choice; and a dream I had. I guess I should also thank my muse because without her, this fic wouldn’t be this far.
I just wanted to give a huge thanks to Jen (Bordersinsanity) for making me this beautiful banner. You’re a peach!!
Prologue
May 18, 2012.
“Hey girl, you’re late.” Serena Martin checked her watch.
“I know, I know. I’m really sorry, but Jake’s been kind of sick, so I was just taking care of him before I left the house.”
“How is he? You said he’s been like that for a while now.”
“Yeah, the vet said that he’s getting old and I may have to put him down soon.”
“Yeah, I guess so. He wasn’t young when you got him and you have had him for a long time. Like 8 years or so. Ever since....” Serena trailed off.
Liz knew exactly what she was going to say, “Yeah, well he’s one of the things I’m really going to miss; you being the other.”
“It’ll be worth it, though. You gotta do what you gotta do. Right?”
“Let’s get to work before I start crying again.”
Serena sighed, “Okay.”
About five hours later, Liz sat down her screwdriver, “I need a break. What about you Rena?”
“Nah, I’d like to get most of this done by sunrise. Are you going to go....”
Liz cut her off, “Yeah, I am. I left the others a video letter, but I have to say goodbye to them in person. I’ll be back soon. Okay?”
“Be careful, it’s late and we still need to finish.”
Liz smiled at her, “I always am.”
Liz walked through the empty cemetery, finding his plot, she stopped and kneeled down. “Well, the project is almost finished. I think you’d be very proud of me. I’m a very successful scientist, not molecular biology, but I’m successful just the same. I know I haven’t been here since everything went to hell, but I thought that since the project is almost done, I’d come to say hello and goodbye. I’m going to make sure to fix everything. I’ll make sure that evil bitch dies. She may have taken you away from me once, but now I have the chance to get you back and I’m not going down without a fight. Your parents miss you a lot, the rest of the gang does too, of course. It’s sad, you know? Everyone’s unhappy; she made it this way. She ruined all of our lives, but once the project is done, everything will be better. Everything will be normal again, just wait. I have one more stop to make and then I’m back to the lab to help Serena finish everything up. Once it’s done, everything will be better and you’ll be back too.” Liz kissed his rose and placed it atop his grave.
She got up and dusted off her knees, walking down a few plots she kneeled once again. “Hey old friend,” she sighed. “I know it’s been a while, but the project has kept me very busy. When it’s done, I promise I’ll bring you back. I’ll bring you back and I won’t let her take you away again.” Taking a deep breath she continued, “Isabel misses you so much, you know? It’s still hard for her to get along with the days without breaking down and crying, saying how much she wished you were still here.” A few tears slipped from her eyes and down her cheeks. “I miss you too, it’s hard not to. But don’t worry, when we finish the project, I’ll make her pay.” Liz sat another rose on his grave and got up to leave. She walked toward the exit and shouted, “She won’t win this time!” Then to herself, “I won’t let her. I’m stronger now.”
So what do you think? Good? Bad? Honestly please, but not too brutal.
