Turn out the light
just say goodnight, to yourself
may I remind you
when you find you, you're all alone is when you've got to be strong
cause that's when they call you, in the night
he's got your picture in his mind
he's got your number on a paper at his disposal anytime
is it really true?
Could you save yourself for someone who, loves you for you?
so many times we just give it away, to someone who
someone who you
met in a bar
the back of a car
and for a moment you felt important but not in your heart
my self esteem, it's been low, go ahead and count it's been lower than low
I know the feeling of it stealing life out from under me
I want to learn, how you save yourself for someone who, loves you for you
so many times we just give it away to someone who, couldn't even remember your name
Could you save yourself for someone who, loves you for you, loves me for me?
give it away to someone who someone who will cherish your name
cause I want to learn, can you save yourself for
someone who will love you for you so many times we
just give it away, someone who, couldn't even remember your name
you save yourself for someone who, loves you for you,
loves me for me
give it away to someone who, someone who will
cherish your name
cherish your name
Liz opened her eyes after a deep sleep and sensed someone standing in the shadows at the foot of her bed. The hair rose on the back of her neck, but she lay frozen in place, shutting her eyes. Her pulse raced, but she forced herself to remain still. Max she thought in her mind. ‘What if the figure at the end of her bed was a premonition?’ Liz thought. She had been dreaming of Max tonight, like any other night, since he left her and Roswell to back to Antar. Tonight’s dream she had felt something that she hadn’t felt before in previous dreams. Like something nagging her in the back of her mind, was it a feeling of Max? Had he come back?
‘She had been waking up like this for the last several nights and tried to talk to Maria and Kyle about it, but they told her she was just wishing for something that would never happen. That Max, Michael and Isabel were gone, probably to never come back to her, to them.’
The rhythmic inhalations were growing fainter as they seemed to move farther away. Whoever stood at the foot of her bed was heading toward her open bedroom window. Her terror was suddenly replaced by the fierce need to know who had been watching her. Liz fumbled for the bedside lamp. But the light did not come on.
She kicked back the covers and rushed out of bed. In just a flimsy lilac silk pajamas, she guided herself through the darkness, until she found the wall. Liz paused by her bedroom door to feel for the switch to the overhead light. She turned it on - and nothing. She stepped out into the hallway - running toward the second bedroom. She opened the door, peered around the room and everything seemed to be ok. Closing the door quietly, Liz went back to her room and tried to go back to sleep. Realizing that this was going to be another sleepless night, Liz Parker pulled out her journal.
Liz opened her journal for the first time in three years. It used to be therapy for her, something she looked forward to doing at the end of every day. Her hopes and dreams were in here along with all her feelings. Everything she had ever felt for Max Evans was written in her journal.
Liz sighed and opened it to one of the last entry’s she had written after Max, Isabel and Michael left.
Journal Entry dated November 6, 2001:
Have you ever been so in love with someone, that every breath you take is like heaven? But then you instantly realize you will always breathe that breath and the love you had is not there to make it less painful to force out? That's what I felt like when he told me he was going back. He needed to find out what happened. He had to leave me in order to find his son. I nderstood but it didn't make it any less painful. Max Evans. He had my heart and now he is gone.
After reading a couple entries several times, a teary-eyed Liz put her pen to paper and let her feelings go.
Journal Entry dated June 14, 2004:
It's been three years since I've written. So much has happened over that time, I don't even know where to begin. I guess I should start with Max, Isabel and Michael going home. To Antar.
"We found a way to go back." That's what Liz heard over and over in her head.
"I have to go back, Liz. My son is there and I need to find out the truth. I don’t want to hurt you, it’s the last thing I want to do. But this..." Max waving his arm in the air as he walked up to Liz putting his strong arms around her "... needs to be finished, once and for all."
She gulped in a deep breath, knowing that was coming next. Liz didn’t have to say a word, he was so in tuned with her, he took a giant step, instantly started kissing her, trying to make her feel some sort of comfort in his words. He pulled back, looking into her wet eyes, "I’ll come back to you Liz, just know that. I promise you with every fiber of my being that I’ll come back. I cannot be without you Liz, it will be impossible."
She knew he had to go but it still didn’t make it any easier. After all, she had helped him try to find his son up to this point, they had worked toward this goal, together. 'Yeah, just keep telling yourself that Liz' she heard echoing in the back of her mind.
‘This is harder then I thought it would be. Sitting here tryting to write, my mind is going in fifty different directions. So much to say, my fingers can only write so fast. All these pent up feelings that are soaring through me, it’s still as painful as it was the night Max left. Only now, things are not what we had anticipated. I miss him. I’m still waiting for him to come home to me. How long can a heart ache?’
"Max. I always knew your plans to go home didn’t include me." He started to interrupt her.
"No! No Max, just hear me out. You are the love of my life. Nothing could change what you mean to me. I have waited so long to have you, now I finally do and you are going back. I understand, really I do, it‘s just so hard. I love you so much. It just seems like every time we begin to enjoy our relationship together, something always rips it apart."
Max felt a pang in his chest. He was selfish. He knew that he hurt her time and time again, but he couldn't help it. He could never let her go. He leaned in and gave her a long, passionate kiss, it took their breath away. Panting, Max looked into Liz’ eyes, bringing his hands to her face, forehead to forehead, stroking her cheeks with his warm fingers, "Liz. You will always be the one. You have my heart. Never forget that. Never doubt it. I will be back. I have to. Don’t you see? I could never survive if I didn’t have you to come home to. This is my home, Liz. You. This..." he looked around the empty Café. "... Earth. This is where it all started. This is where I belong."
"Max." That was all she could say. She couldn’t see through her tears and her crying penetrating her ears. The only thing that she could feel that wasn’t her own was his hard body next to her, he was gently rocking her slowly, shushing her as they wept together. It was clear that the tears weren’t going to be easy to stop but they didn’t care. Max, Isabel and Michael would be leaving in three days, and Liz was going to cherish this moment for as long as she could.
Outside, the heavens must have been feeling the same painful, emotion because as it was parallel to Max and Liz’ feelings. The torrential down pour didn’t seem like it would be letting up any time soon and they enjoyed the warmth of each others arms. They gently pulled away, knowing that every minute they were together, meant the time was drawing that much closer for Max' departure. Neither one wanted to let go but it was inevitable.
Simply put, Max was leaving and Liz was staying. He got up and pulled Liz up with him. Leaning down, he gave Liz another embracing hug, while gently stroking her long deep dark hair, placing his wet, warm lips to Liz'. There were no flashes when they kissed, each one closing down a bit more each time to make it easier to say good-bye. Deep down, Max and Liz both knew that there was that possibility that he wouldn't be back. Their time together was precious and neither one wanted to admit it so they poured all the love they felt into their kisses.
‘Looking back, I knew that that day would come. It was only a matter of time until they found a way back to Antar. I wanted, no needed something that I could remember him by. Something that would keep him close to my heart, binding me forever to Max Evans and that’s when I decided to do the one thing that changed my life forever......’

A note about this chapter. This is kind of a transitional chapter. Liz is writing in her journal.and thinking back to the last night she spent with Max before he left. It goes back and forth between the two. A shout out to the author that was creative enough to use the word turgid in their fic. We loved it so much, we had to use it again! LOL
*****This Chapter is rated NC-17*****
Previously on Roswell’s Save Yourself........
Liz grinned as she got up to get him a blanket and a pillow. “I’m looking forward to going to the park tomorrow, I know someone who will be thrilled.” She threw him the heap she had in her hands, “now go to bed, you are going to have a busy morning, mister!”
“Night John Boy.”
Snorting, Kyle responded in a little boy voice, “nighty night, Liz.”
Since you are not here in person to share my thoughts over the years, I thought I would write in my journal as if I were talking to you. So if you do come back to me Max, you can read this.
You will be able to see my life, through my eyes, over the time you were gone. What I feel, what I think about. I actually haven't written as much as I'd like but I wasn't ready. Being out tonight it changed my way of thinking. Starting tonight, I am going to have a new outlook on life. For starters, I will definitely write more.....
How long am I supposed to wait for you? Three years ago, I would have said forever, without a doubt in my mind. But as I sit here write, I just don't know if I can honestly say that anymore. Kyle had asked me tonight if I was willing to sit and wait for you forever, and I couldn't answer him. I wanted to believe that I would wait. Every day for the past three years, I put on a brave face for the people we love but am I kidding myself?
I went out tonight to watch Maria and Jim sing with their band and I actually got up and was dancing. For the very first time in the years that you've been gone, I smiled. I smiled for myself and it made me feel alive again.
Then I remember the dreams, those images of someone in my room night after night. Is that you Max? Are you trying to tell me something? Are you really alive but too far away for me to really see or hear you? I don't like this darkness that I see you in time and time again. Is that why I think I am getting a sign of things to come? I want to see you in the light Max, is that possible?
Desert, near the Granolith chamber.
"Max look how the 'V' shape constellation lights up the sky, it's as if they know you are coming back to them." Liz' voice was low and inviting. Smiling sweetly up at him she felt herself being drawn into the ember crystals of his dark mysterious eyes and his shy, innocent smile that had first attracted her to him.
You held me close so and made sure that I could feel you wanting me. I took a step toward you and your spirits soared in anticipation.
"Liz, are you sure you want to do this? We don't have to..."
"Shhh, I want to do this" Liz took his face in her hands and began to feather him with light kisses.
"I love you too much t..to do this. I can't make love to you and then walk away, Liz. I can't. I don't think I will be able to. " Max wanted more than anything to make love to her, but he didn't want to hurt her.
"If you love me, then there is nothing to worry about. I want this more than anything I have ever wanted in my entire life, Max. Besides you said it yourself, you will be coming back to me. Why are you worried?" Liz said between kisses.
I remember thinking that there was the possibility that you may not come back, even though neither one of us wanted to admit it. And because of that, I wanted you to be my first. Even after everything that we had been through, I still wanted you to be my first.
You looked down at me stroking my hair, your eyes shimmering in the brightly star lit sky. You knew in your heart that your love for me was the one pure emotion you could ever have. The step we are about to make would be coming from your soul, the one thing you could not deny me.
In your arms was where I wanted to stay forever. You held me there kissing me so passionately, it was making my head swim. I remember wanting to wrap my entire body around you. I wanted to hear how much you loved me, how much you wanted to make love to me.
"Liz Parker, I will love you forever and beyond. You're every breath that I
take. Knowing you has made me feel human, and loved. But because of your
love, you have lost so much. I've made so many mistakes in my life Liz, but
you are the only thing that has made sense, has made me complete" Max bent
down and lightly traced her lips with his own.
"I need you to know that no matter whatever happens, or how long it takes, I will come back. I promise, you. I need to do this." Max looked up at the sky and sighed. Why did it seem like he was going to be gone forever? Two weeks wasn't that long. He still couldn't believe he was in this mess. If only he could go back.
Liz could sense what he was thinking. "Max you made a mistake. We both made them. Sure, I can't say that what you did didn't hurt me, because it did. But you need to do this, for you and for us. You need to find out all you can so when you come back to me, I can have you. I need all of you." her voice trailed of as Max gently grabbed her hand pulling her toward the blanket laid out on the ground.
"Liz I want this to be perfect. I want to show you how much I love you." Max waved his hand over toward the car and music started to play, echoing in the darkness. "I want this moment to be with me for the rest of my life. I want to remember how you feel under me and how you look at me when I touch you, how you glow as I gently trace my fingers over your body."
"Come here", Liz said as she lay on her back pulling him down to her. She could feel his growing erection press against her inner thigh, which caused her to gasp.
"See what you do to me Liz? I just touch you and my whole body has a mind of its own." Max whispered to her, slightly embarrassed at his body's reaction to their closeness
"I want you so badly, more than anything I've ever wanted in my entire life." He smiled at her and placed a trail of kisses from her lips to the bottom of her neck, nibbling and sucking at the most sensitive areas.
"Max" Liz moaned as she placed her hands at the hem of his green T-shirt, pushing it up as he finagled his arms free from the loose material.
Liz tugged to break it free then threw it down, exposing his perfectly muscled chest. Slowly running her hands over his chest, down to his stomach, caressing him in the most delicate fashion, feeling every inch of him.
Max fumbled as unbutton her blouse. With shaky hands, he started at the bottom of her shirt and worked his way up, unbuttoning one button at a time; kissing her bare skin as he moved up along her body. Once all the buttons were undone, he slowly pushed her shirt open and slipped it off her shoulders.
"God, you're beautiful, just as I imagined" Max said with a blushed smile.
I don't think I could ever put into words just how you made me feel that night. Like there was no one else on earth except for you and me. You even played our song. Singing the lyrics to me as like you wrote them for me. I Shall Believe. You were so cute, so sweet and nervous. Like you were afraid that I might break.
She didn't feel nervous. Even though most in this situation wouldn't know what to do, it felt natural, it felt right. She pulled Max closer to her and kissed him as if her life depended on it. Max pulled back and placed his novice hands on the front clasp of her bra and fumbled as he tried to undo it.
"Here, let me help you" Liz said in a silky voice as she placed her hands on his and together they unhooked her bra.
Max let out a soft moan as he began to stroke her body with his hands. Liz leaned her head back and closed her eyes, as she felt him kissing her, his soft lips continuing to caress her, from her neck, down her chest, then placed his warm mouth over her breast, tenderly sucking and flicking it with his soft but turgid tongue; while gently taking the other breast in his hand. Releasing his hand, he began to trace the contours of her lips, cheek, and ear, then slid his hand into her hair.
Max propped himself up on an elbow, never taking his eyes of her. Leaning down he whispered into her ear "Can you take off your jeans?"
Nodding her head yes, Liz stood up and began to unbutton her jeans. "You could help me you know," she said smiling up him mischieviously.
His fingers involuntarily shook as he moved her hands away placing them at her sides and began to unfastened her jeans. Slowly he slid them down over her hips and then down her long beautiful legs until they were completely off of her. He then ran his hands up her calves, to the backs of her thighs until reaching her buttocks, coming back around and up the rest of her body with the lightest of touch. He then began kissing her stomach, pausing on the spot where he healed her, causing her to shiver- and it wasn't even cold outside. Feeling her shudder, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her back down onto the blanket to warm her up. His hands then began to wander along her back, then back up through her hair, pulling her in for a kiss. For the first time in a long time, Max felt safe.
"Your body feels so good against mine, we're a perfect fit, Liz." Max said as he continued to kiss her and stroke her hair, hands roaming back down her body. He was touching her everywhere, he couldn’t not touch her.
"Mmmmmm Max." Liz moaned.. She couldn't bring herself to say anything else, totally lost in the moment, his smell was intoxicating. HE was intoxicating.
"Is it ok if I touch you this way Liz? You're so soft, I need to feel all of you."
"Mmmm hmmm, yes, I want to feel you everywhere Max." It was like she was drunk and her senses were in overdrive. His closeness was reeking havoc on her brain. There was no way that her body could tell him no, let alone her heart. It would be like someone asking her to stop breathing. Impossible.
"Liz? Look at me."
Liz opened her eyes and saw that look. You know the one you see in the movies, the one where you know what the other one wanted? She saw that in his eyes. The love and the need of wanting to be with her was undeniable.
"Are you sure? I could never do anything that you wouldn't want me to do. I'd die a thousand deaths over before I'd ever hurt you again."
Liz took his face in her hands, "You won't hurt me Max. I want this so much, I need to feel your body surround me to completely make me yours. I don't want to be that virginal little girl anymore."
Max leaned down and brushed his lips lightly against hers, giving butterfly kisses on her forehead. He felt her tugging at his jeans, so he lifted his hips up just enough to give her the room she needed to remove them.
"No underwear, I see", she breathed as she grazed his body with her eyes. It was obvious that he wanted her as much as wanted him. From his naval, she traced her fingers down the beginning of the hair line, and down over his erection. A soft moan escaped his lips and caused him to jump. Liz gave him a wicked grin as she finished her task.
"If I didn't know any better Mr. Evans, I would think that this was your first time." Liz chuckled.
"Very funny Miss Parker. This is the first time....I have never made love to anyone, so I am a bit nervous." Turning serious again, he looked at her, his eyes dark with a mixture of love and lust. "Don't stop."
Before Liz knew it, Max had put his hands on her hips and ever so lightly started pushing off her only article of clothing remaining. Her panties. Liz turned into his body, snuggling up to his inviting chest. Max hugged her close and proceeded to roll her over on her back again, while he hovered over her kissing her as if their lives depended on it.
Max pulled back, looking at her. She was so beautiful. And she was giving herself to him. "There's no turning back Liz. Are you sure you're ready?"
“Yes, I'm sure", she nodded her head. There was a bond, an intensity that neither one of them had ever felt before. Their bodies were begging to be merged as one. He began to kiss her again, and the kiss grew more fevering along with the passion between them. Positioning himself securely between her legs, he broke the kiss and again pleaded with her to open her eyes.
"Look at me. I want you to look at me when we become one. I don't ever want to forget this moment because I want you to see just what you do to me." He was breathing heavily inches from her face.
Liz was taken back by his words, but was quickly lost again as her eyes rose to meet his. She watched him as he moved down into position, holding her breath waiting for him to take the final step in bonding them together. He slowly began to enter her, he didn't want to hurt her. Then with one thrust, he was buried deep inside, causing her to gasp then bite down on her lip as he broke through her barrier.
Max stopped, giving her time to adjust to him. "I want to feel how your body accepts me being here." He kissed her gently. "I couldn't bear if this act of love hurt you."
He could feel her begin to move underneath him, a sign that she was ready to continue. Their bodies starting moving as one.
As we were making love, I was totally obliterated to anything else around us. I felt everything you were feeling and I could tell you could felt what I was feeling too. All the love we had for each other was proof to the other in our eyes. There was no denying it. We were meant to be together. All the obstacles we had to over come to get to that point told me that.
Max reached up and intertwined his fingers in her hair, his forehead touching
hers. Liz could feel his warm shallow breath on her swollen lips.
"God Liz you feel so good, it's like I can't get enough of you. I love you so much."
"Max, don't stop. I love how you feel inside me. I want to remember you just like this." Liz pulled him closer to her, matching him thrust for thrust.
As their panting grew more intense, the soft music started to lower in sound, no longer drowning out our sounds of ecstacy. Each of them feeling the same way. They were making love to their best friend, true love- their soulmate.
"I can't hold out much longer Liz. I want to bring you with me. Ohhhh Liz, I can't...." Max groaned as he slowed down his pace, giving her soft gentle kisses all over her face.
He knew she was getting close, he could feel her, like they were connected.
Oh God, Max! I'm going to......" Liz was at the breaking point and she wanted Max to be with her when she climaxed. She had never felt so free, so alive in her life.
Hearing that sent Max over the edge. "Liiiiiiizzz, baby, I'm cumming, oh God, oh God!...... " he panted.
Liz could feel him throbbing in her body, it was a hot release, and it was perfect. She was shaking, from her climax, her emotions, and her body being drained. Max remained on top of her, careful not to put all of his body weight on her, but not wanting to break away from her just yet. They laid that way for a while before finally separating.
Max lifted himself off of her, and rolled over onto his back, gazing at the stars. "I can't do it Liz. I thought I could but I can't. I'm not going back."
"Like hell you aren't Max. We discussed this. You have to go back. You have to do it for yourself, for us. And what about your son? Everything we went through for the last 8 months would have been for nothing. I will always treasure this time but you will only be gone for a couple of weeks then you will be back." Liz was serious. She wanted this over. If this is what it took, then so be it.
"I'm afraid of what I will find Liz. What if I come back with a son to raise, could you accept that? What if something happens to me? I'm afraid Liz, I'm afraid to lose you. I don't want to lose you." Max had tears in his eyes as he searched the face of the only woman he ever loved looking for answers that he knew she couldn't give him.
"Well then, I guess you better find a way to come back to me Max Evans. And if you have your child with you when you come back, we will deal with it then. Like I said before, we didn't come all this way for nothing. If you don't come back to me, we will have this memory forever." Liz was wiping away his tears.
"Can't you see? There will never be anyone else Max. I will never love anyone the way I love you. Y...you have my heart and soul, do you hear me?" She pulled him over to her holding him tight, determined that this would not be the last time they would ever spend together like this.
After we made love we drove back to my house. You stayed with me, wanting to hold me one last time before you left. When I woke up the next morning, you were gone.
You left and never said good-bye.
Liz closed her journal, setting it on her night stand and crawled into bed. With thoughts of the night she and Max had spent together still running through her mind, and the hope that he would come to her again tonight, she drifted off to sleep.
That night, there were no dreams.

"Oh my God, Michael!" Maria screeched as she ran for Michael. She jumped up into his arms and planted kisses all over his face.
Michael couldn't believe it. He didn't think it would be this easy. He hugged her back, a smiling from ear to ear. "I missed you too Maria."
The warm welcome didn't last long. Maria stepped back, and slapped him right across the face. Hard. "I thought you were dead. And now that I know you're alive, you better do some explaining, and fast."
“MOM!” Isabel cried as she and Max leapt forward to catch their mother.
Hearing screaming Philip Evans ran to the door and was shocked to see who was standing before him.
“Max? Izzy? Oh god, Diane! Here, put her over on the couch” he said motioning toward the living room.
Standing back, watching these strangers, but they really weren’t strangers, no these were their dead children carrying their mother to the couch. Standing behind her, Max, Isabel and Philip glared at each other.
“Philip....wh..what happened? I had the strangest thought. I dreamt that I saw Max and Isabel standing at the door.”
Coming around to where they had just put their mother down, they met their mothers eyes again for the second time in five minutes. Trying to get up to hug her children, “I wasn’t dreaming! You are really here! My children, oh my god, we thought you were dead!”
The twins rushed over to greet their mother and she greeted them with open arms. Philip on the other hand wasn’t as excited to see them. His eyes never once leaving Max’ as Max stood up, looking back with sharp eyes.
“Oh mom, I missed you so much” Isabel said as she gave her mom the biggest hug.
“I’ve missed you two so much” pulling at Max as she held on to Isabel.
“Dad. Mom, before anything else gets said, we need to talk to you.”
Diane pulled away from her children as she got into a sitting position." Are you guys running from the law?"
“It's nothing like that mom. We're about to explain everything. Come sit down beside mom, dad” Isabel motioned to the couch.
Rubbing her hands, she slowly moved next to Max as she began to tell their parents their deepest, darkest secret.
“I want to first say how much we love you and missed you while we were gone. What we are about to tell you will change your lives forever, maybe put your lives in danger but Max and I discussed this conversation millions of times and there isn’t any way around it. Please, all I ask is that you listen to what we have to say and we will answer ALL your questions when we have finished.”
Philip finally relented his eyes from Max to Isabel and lastly to his wife. He didn’t know what they were about to say but he knew it wasn’t going to be good.
“Why are you investigating me Dad?”
“You’re hiding something Max and I want to know what it is.
He loved his children, really he did but he and his wife raised the two strangers who were standing before him; so why did he feel so much hate? Philip’s thoughts drifted toward his wife, he remembered how she used to cry herself to sleep every night for the first year they were gone. The police searched for 2 weeks trying to find Isabel, Max and Michael. Either they got lost in the woods and couldn't survive with out food, or they chose to disappear of their own accord. They decided to officially close the case 6 months later. Everyone assumed they were dead, though it never became official. Only those closest to them imagined the absolute worst, because Max and Isabel wouldn't just leave them.
“Remember how you found us in the desert that night? Well it was because we had just born and we didn’t know where or who we were.” Isabel paused before she continued. “Max, Michael and I were in incubation pods since the infamous ‘47 Roswell crash. There is no easy way to say this without just coming out and saying it....we’re aliens.” Max and Isabel both sighed a relief to have finally been able to tell their parents of their alien origins.
“I’m sorry honey, I thought you just said you were aliens” Diane said thinking her ears were playing tricks on her. The kids looked at their mom then to their dad “we did” Max spoke up.
“Excuse me?” Feeling a bit uneasy, Diane was at a loss for words, she was in shock. She had known for many years that Max was different but not once did she ever think this about her precious boy.
Max stood up from where he was sitting to walk over to his mom when his dad stood up, meeting him eye for eye.
“You care to explain this son? Are you mocking us?” Mr. Evans spat out which even made his wife flinch.
“We know you are shocked and probably scared but we were not sent here to hurt anyone or even take over Earth,” Max responded dryly then adding, “The three of us were sent here from a planet named Antar, its part of the ‘V’ shape constellation.”
“I...I just don’t understand this Max” their mother piped in unsure what to say to her children they has raised for over 11 years.
“The reason we have been gone for the past three years was to find out where we came from and for me to find my son. Remember Iz telling you both that night she had you both over for dinner?” Both parents looked away from Isabel and Max then darting their eyes suddenly back to their children. “Well we found out a lot of things while we were there. But let me start from the beginning because you are never going to believe what we have to tell you.”
Phillip took his seat as Max walked back to sit beside Isabel. “On Antar, I am their King and Michael is my second in command, as Isabel is the Princess. Tess, was also one of us, she was my wife on Antar." Max looked at Phillip who now was very interested in what Max was saying with the mention of Tess.
Seeing this peaked interested, Max let him know that he would get to the story of Tess eventually. "I'd prefer to not talk about Tess right now, until I see Liz." he told his father. Phillip nodded letting Max know to continue.
"We were all killed in a battle many years ago and our mother was devastated. She had us all cloned with human DNA and sent back to Earth to grow up. The spaceship we were riding on crashed and our Protectors hid us in the desert so no one would find us. Our Protectors didn’t know how long it would be before we were born, so he didn’t come back as often as he used to. There was suppose to be someone waiting for us when we... um...hatched, but wasn’t. Michael, Isabel and myself broke free and wondered the desert and that’s when you found us.”
Eyeing both parents, Isabel continued. “We are just like humans but we don’t get sick, we have a greater brain capacity than humans and our blood is not human. The three of us have different powers. I am able to dreamwalk, Max can heal people and Michael’ trailing off, “well he can’t really control his but he does have powers.” As if someone turned on a light, Mrs. Evans remembered how Max healed that bird so long ago.
They continued to talk for hours, their parents asked all sorts of questions; Max and Isabel were happy to answer all unanswered questions that the Evans’ had, starting from the very beginning since the day they were adopted. They told them about Max healing Liz, which started everything, about Kyle, and Alex. Not hiding any secrets from their parents, it felt good to finally tell them everything.
“Do either of you have any questions before we head out to find Liz and Jesse?” Max asked, looking at his parents who look like they have just been beaten.
“I have alot more questions Max, but I don't expect you to answer everything in one day. But I want to know why did you come back if you had the chance to stay on your home planet?” that was the one question Diane didn't want to wait for an answer on.
Isabel looked at Max then back toward her parents. “Our intentions were never to stay on Antar. We were suppose to go, get answers and return home, to Earth within two weeks but when we got there, we got more than we bargained for.”
Phillip looked at the kids questionably “Does anyone know you’re back? We need to keep you kids safe.”
“No. We wanted to come to home first.” Isabel replied,
“Mom....Dad? You can’t tell anyone about this conversation or about us. You don’t know what kinds of things that can happen, if you do.”
“Max, you don’t have to worry about you, your sister or Michael for that matter. Your secret is safe with us. Our first priority is to keep you safe and out of harms way. We love you both very much. We won’t let anything happen to you or our family, “Phillip let out a breath before he continued, “Tell me again who all knows you....your alien status, Max?”
“Liz, Maria, Jim and KyleValenti. ”
“Oh I see. Well that explains a lot about Valenti. Jim is a good man. I'm glad to know that he has helped you kids through some of this, since we couldn't..I couldn't."
“Yes he is Dad. We owe him a lot. If it hadn’t been for him, I don’t know what we would have done.”
“Well we’re glad that he took care of you both. We wish you had trusted us enough to share your secret. I would have never investigated you Max if I had known. I could have exposed you to a much greater harm but I didn’t know. and I’m sorry for that.” Both males stood up to gave each other a hug, acknowledging that they both hurt each other in the past. It was certain, this moment forward, nothing will hurt or come between them again.
Almost afraid to ask, Isabel took a deep breath and asked “Mom? How is Jesse?”
“He was devastated, Isabel. He was determined to find answers, to find you, and it burned him out” her mother said with a bit of sadness in her voice. “He’s in the same apartment you had got together after you got married and he still works with your father. He still talks about you ask if you were still around, honey.”
“I miss him so much mom” leaning forward to give her mom a hug.
“I know sweetie, he misses you too.”
Mrs. Evans and Isabel broke apart crying, forcing herself to remain calm. She still couldn’t believe her kids were home. It’s been too long since she held her children but knew they had other lives too and they needed to let their other loved ones know they are finally home. And safe.
“Max, I think you need to go see Liz, we can discuss this some other time, son.”
“How has she taken this? I have missed her so much.”
“She’s handled herself. Liz is one strong young lady Max, you must know that about her. But we think you need to see her the first chance you get, though.”
Showing concern, Max looked back and forth at his parents, trying to read their expressions. “I plan on it, why?” His curiosity was getting the best of him, as he paced the floor before stopping in front of his parents, “Is she not ok?”
“Oh, yes sweetie, she’s just fine. I admire her Max, she has been through a lot, be good to her Max.” Mrs. Evans replied smiling.
“I intend too mom, she’s the love of my life,” Max retorted.
“Is there anything we need to know before we venture out, in the land of Roswell?” Isabel questioned.
“Nothing has really changed” her mother quipped, “but we need to figure out what to tell everyone what happened to you.”
"What we intend to tell everyone is that we did disappear. One of our protectors works in California as a movie producer...." Max had to chuckle at how ridulous that sounded, then continued.
"Anyway, we are going to say that we got jobs working for him, he gave us a place to disappear to. Since I had already been out to California before and even auditioned for that role on Star Trek, it won't seem so far fetched." Max had already decided this on his way back from Antar, and when they got back to Earth, he and Cal finalized a cover story.
"Movie producer huh?" Phillip laughed as he patted Max on the back. There was still so many questions he had to ask his children, but as he looked at them, he was just glad they were alive and ok. The questions could wait.
Everyone got up and hugged one another. This was a lot easier than Max or Isabel had anticipated, everything else should be a breeze.

This is a short transitional piece...good things will be coming soon enough.
Thanks for all the wonderful feedback.
AA and abbs I tell you what....if you update yours, I'll add another chapter.
After the initial shock of Maria slapping the hell out him, Michael was able to finally calm Maria down enough to get her to listen to him. She was pacing around the house, sniffing cedar oil, refusing to sit down.
"Maria...Maria!" Michael finally shouted. He couldn't take it anymore. "Please, sit down. You've been pacing around her for almost an hour, breathing that stuff in. You're gonna pass out"
She looked over at him, cocking her head to the side like he had spoken some foreign language. After taking a few deep breaths, she went over to the table and sat down. "I'm ready to listen Michael Guerin, and I want to know everything. Why were you gone so long? Are Max and Isabel with you? Were you hur...."
"Slow down, give me a chance to answer at least one of your questions." He had to chuckle. Same old Maria. She hadn't changed one bit in three years. "For starters, Max, Isabel and I decided that when we got back, we all wanted to be together when the story got told about Antar. Some of it was painful, some of it was wonderful. And we wanted to share it with everyone at the same time." he reached out and ran his hand down her arm. He just wanted to touch her, be around her. He really missed her.
The gesture didn't go unnoticed by Maria. Her anger was subsiding, and she was just now realizing how much she truly missed him. "So Max and Isabel are here too, does Liz know?" All the sudden she thought about Liz and her dreams. Or what she thought was Liz' overactive imagination. "Oh my god Michael, Liz kept sensing Max. It was the weirdest thing. Kyle and I thought she was crazy. Please tell me that Max went to see her first thing."
"Iz and Max went to their parents' house first, then they were going to go see Liz and Jesse. “Come here Maria." He didn't want to talk anymore he just wanted to hold her.
Maria got up from her chair and he rose from his. Reaching out his hand, he pulled her close to him, breathing her in. She held onto him for dear life. She was never going to let him go again. She reached up and ran the outside of her hand down his cheek. He had to kiss her. Three years was a long time without her. He cupped the sides of her face and brought his lips down to hers. Just as he was about to get lost in his very own personal heaven, there was a knock at the door, jarring them apart.
Maria went to open the door. "Jim!" she yelled and grabbed his hand pulling him forward. "You will never believe what the cat dragged in!"
Jim followed her, not having a choice since she had a firm grasp on his hand. He froze as soon as he saw Michael. "Michael, is that really you?" Jim could hardly believe it. He, along with Maria, Kyle and just about everyone else, thought that they had never made it to their home planet, let alone made it back. "It's been a very long time Michael" he smiled and reached out his hand. As soon as Michael took it, Jim pulled him into a hug. He loved these kids, and seeing Michael again after three years made him realize just how much he did care for them and how much he missed them.
"Max, Isabel?" Jim's voice wavered a bit.
"They're fine, we're all home." Michael was starting to get a bit misty eyed himself.
"How did you? I mean, what happened?" Jim needed to here the story as bad as Maria.
"I was just telling Maria before you came over that we want to tell everyone, the group altogether, and before you ask, yes Max is going to see Liz today." Michael smiled, knowing that was going to be Jim's next question.
"Well since you guys can't seem to get much out of me for now, why don't you fill me in on how everyone here has been? I never thought I'd say this, but I missed Roswell." Michael looked at Maria and Jim and smiled.
"Michael, Jim and I sing together in a band! And we're really good!" Michael noticed how her whole face lit up when she said it. "We write most of our own songs, do a few covers, you know. But we've been making a living at it for about the past 2 years." Maria was getting out of breath. All the times she wanted to share with Michael that she was finally living out her dreams on her terms, and now he was here.
“That’s great, I would love to see your set sometime.”
“We would love to have you come and watch. We've been booking 3-4 gigs a week.” Jim said with enthusiasm, looking at Maria.
“Where do you play?”
“Here, in Las Cruces, mostly New Mexico. We got lucky and got to play in LA once" Maria said still beaming as she walked over towards Jim. "Ooh, Jim! Tell him about the fight, or the almost fight!" she squealed and began tugging on Jim's shirt.
“Remember? The night when that fight broke out at the Funky Chicken and that beer bottle came flying toward us and I shoved you out of the way as the bottle hit the wall behind us?” Both were laughing thinking back to that night.
“Or at that bachelor party when we sang while that stripper stripped and that dude’s soon-to-be-wife came in and went ballistic!??”
“Oh how could I forget? That was the highlight of the evening.” Jim looking at Maria as they laughed together, swapping stories. Michael noticed the closeness of the two, and for a minute, wondered if anything had gone on between them in his absence.
“Well the most funny time was when that drunk old man, was pleading for you to take off your bra.”
That last remark didn’t go unnoticed my Michael. He'd been back for a day and already getting jealous. Of Jim Valenti! This was too weird, he was old enough to be her father.
“OMG I had forgotten about that” Maria shrieked, holding on to Jim so she wouldn’t fall from where she was sitting.
“How could you forget that? I thought you handled yourself pretty damn good when you shooed him back with your platformed boots. That old man thought he was in heaven. He kept yelling how he loved being manhandled”
“Yeah but you were there, protecting me, it was great!”
“Ok whoa, wait!” Michael finally jumped in, not wanting to hear another word about Jim and Maria having a bit of a flirting game thing going on.
"What Michael? Is there a problem?"
“I don’t have a problem Maria but this thing of men throwing themselves at you or flaunting your ass on stage is not happening anymore.”
“It’s not that Michael, I wouldn’t have let anything happen to her but let me tell you, this girl” he patted her leg “can certainly take care of herself.”
“I beg your pardon DAD, but I have news for you, you left here three years ago and I have a life now, singing with Jim!” Jim took that as his cue to leave.
“Well guys, I need to get going. See you at 7:30 for our set Maria.”
“Yeah Jim, I’ll be there.”
Jim looked to Maria then to Michael, tilting his hat “Michael.”
“Yeah Jim. Later.” Jim left leaving a very fuming Maria and a very jealous Michael.
Maria jumped off the couch and stood face to face with Michael. “I think you have a lot of nerve acting like that to me, much less to Jim!”
“What the hell is this Maria?” Flinging his right arm in the air toward the door that Jim had just left out of. “Do you and Jim have a little ‘thing’ going on here or what?”
“You’re unbelievable, you know that?” As soon as she said that, she realized that he was jealous. She didn't know whether to be furious or flattered.
“Me and Jim? Is that what you think Michael?”
“Well isn’t it? You two look awfully cozy together. What? He’s like your father’s age. What does Kyle have to say about this?”
“Actually I have never even thought about Jim’s age for one thing, another thing, Kyle doesn’t have any say so in my life. What I chose to do with it, I’ll do it. You, Kyle or anyone is not going to stop me.”
“Oh is that right?”
“You bet your ass that’s right, spaceboy! You have been gone from Earth for three years and I don’t think that that earns you any right to tell me or anyone what to do anymore! When you left here, you revoked all rights to us Earthlings!”
“That’s what you always say. Get over yourself Michael Guerin, Jim and I are only friends.” Maria softened her tone, she truly loved this man standing before her and she didn’t want to start off on the wrong foot. “Friends just having a good time. God, don’t you know that I realize that Jim is old enough to be my father?”
He suddenly realized just how foolish he sounded. She brought so much joy to his life and if she only knew how much he had missed her when he was gone. Maria DeLuca is what kept him focused while he was on that other planet, his supposed home planet, a planet he never wanted to go back to much less leaving her alone again.
"I'm sorry I got pissed. I've just missed you. And to think I was lecturing Max and Isabel about not getting upset if Liz and Jesse had moved on. " he looked at the floor then back up to her. "Did you move on Maria, while I was gone?"
"I dated a little Michael, I'm not going to lie to you. I honestly didn't think you were coming back. I thought you were dead" tears were forming in her eyes. "But no, I didn't sleep with anyone. What is it about you aliens anyway?" she said laughing through her tears. "Did you brand us or something?"
Michael was grinning from ear to ear. "Maybe" he said as he put his hand around her waist pulling her to him. "What do you say to me showing you exactly what it is we do!"
"Let's" she said as she pulled him toward the bedroom.

Thanks for the bumpage, Abbs!!
Ladies, thanks for the great feedback. It makes us want to keep writing!! Soon, we promise you will get what you are waiting for!!
Kyle let himself in like he has always done in the past, today was no different. He was quiet, making sure that if Liz and Abigail were still sleeping, he wouldn’t want to wake them. If they were, he would simply leave and call to check on Liz later. He felt so protective of the two girls in his life and regarded them as his make shift family.
Max had healed him years ago and he never forgot it, so protecting Liz and Abigail was Kyle’s way of repaying Max. They never saw ‘eye to eye’ on anything, hell Max wasn’t his biggest fan after everything they have been through over the years but Kyle knew with uncertainty that Max would want him to watch over his family while he was gone. Even if it were for good.
Kyle put the key in the door and before he opened it, he paused a moment before entering to see if he heard anything but he didn’t as he entered in the apartment. Most mornings ‘his girls’ were awake but sometimes they just lazily lay in bed together while Liz reads Abigail a story.
What he saw when he walked in just about knocked him off his feet. Sitting at the table eating breakfast, was Liz, Abby....and Max.
Kyle stood still. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Max was really here. Kyle stood there with his mouth hanging open. He even went so far as to pinch himself. Liz jumped up from the table and ran over to him.
"Yes, Kyle, it's Max! " she now had Kyle in a tight embrace.
"Liz, your choking me babe, think you could let go?"
“It’s really him, Kyle. Abigail was right when she said she saw Max. And since when do you say "babe"? You've been hanging around Maria too long!” Kyle smiled at Liz before looking back over at Max.
"Hi Kyle" Max stood up and walked over to him extended his hand.
Kyle shook his hand. “It’s good to have you home again Max.” He tried not to sound bitter but all the feelings of hurt he had endured with Liz during the three years that Max was gone made him want to shake him and ask what was he thinking. But he wouldn’t for Liz or Abigail’s sake. He'd definitely have a talk with Max Evans later though.
"I'm sorry I just barged in here, I didn't mean to interrupt." Kyle said as he turned around heading back towards the door. He felt awkward, and definitely like he didn't belong there.
“You don’t have to leave Kyle.”
“Yes I do Liz. You and Abigail need to be with Max, not have me hanging around. Call me if you need me.” He went to kiss her goodbye but knew that was not an option anymore as he looked down at Max, their understanding clear. Liz sensed the uneasiness between the two men, and decided to let Kyle leave, with the understanding that she would come see him later.
“Bye Abigail. You be a good girl. You hear me?”
“Yes Uncle Kyle.” Sensing his unhappiness, she stared at him then continued, “I wuv you.”
“I love you too, Abby” he bent down to give her a hug and kissed her cheek. “Bye.”
“Thank you, Kyle.” Max said as he walked Kyle to the door.
“Don’t mention it man.”
When the door was shut, Liz looked at Max. He put his arm around her and they walked back to the table. Max actually felt like an intruder for a second when Kyle was there. Like he was taking away Kyle's family, instead of reclaiming his own.
"It's ok daddy" Abby said in her soft little voice. "I wuv you too"
Liz’ eyes welled up, there was no denying that this was Max’ daughter. She was sweet and sensitive just like Max was when she first met him. And it was cute that she thought it hurt Max' feelings when she told Kyle she loved him.
They finished their breakfast and cleaned up the dishes. With that finished they all went in the living room to spend time together, as a family. Liz brought out some of Abby's toys. They sat on the floor, surrounded by blocks. Abby sat between Max' legs and they began to build a house together. When the house was complete, Max leaned over and placed an affectionate kiss on his daughters’ forehead before he beveled in to kiss Liz on the mouth, in a slow yearning kiss. They were abruptly pulled apart as Abby tugged on Max’ shirt.
“Daddy, me and mommy missed you.” Pulling his daughter closer to his chest, feeling her tiny heart beating against him, “I’ve missed you more” as he started to tickle her. Liz sat back taking this interaction all in, as the smile went from her eyes down to her toes.
"I miss you this much" Abby said as she stretched her arms out as far as she could grinning at Max.
Max thought for a moment so he could choose his words carefully, “I missed you bigger then the whole universe.”
Abby thought for a moment then looked at him, eyes wide. “That’s big!”
Max looked immediately at Liz with a questioned look, “She’s much too bright to be only 2, Liz.”
“Yeah tell me about it, nothing goes unnoticed by her. We always play this game and she always has to have the last word.”
Max looked at her then to Abby “well, I wonder where she gets that from?” Liz smacked him on his shoulder and he pulled them in again for another hug.
“Abby, do you think you can go play in your room for a while, while daddy and I talk?”
“Otay mommy” Abby scooted off Max’ lap and went running to her room.
Max sat back in the couch, trying to get comfortable, sighing at the sheer thought of what Liz had endured while he was gone. “Liz, you did this by yourself? You took care of her day in and day out alone?” It was more of a statement then a question. “I can’t even begin to imagine what you have been through and how scared you must have been knowing or not knowing what could happen.“
“I had some really great friends and two wonderful families helping me Max.”
“You mean Kyle, don’t you?” Max sounded a bit jealous.
“Yes, I do mean Kyle mostly. My parents and yours also. But Kyle was there for me since the day you left." She looked at Max, then realized, "You're jealous of him!"
“I can’t help it Liz. I should have been here, with you, taking part of delivering our baby and helping you raise our daughter, together. I'm jealous of him because he was here with you. He was the one you leaned on for support.”
“You had no choice Max. You thought your son needed you, you had to go back.”
Max looked up at the ceiling, taking a deep breath before bringing his eyes back to Liz. He told her there was no baby, but he only lightly touched on it last night. Would she ever really forgive him for leaving her for three years to go on a wild goose chase? Because that's what it was. He left this planet to find his son and all the while Liz was here, giving him the one thing that he thought he already had in another place. He knew she had questions and that she was giving him his space, but it didn't keep him from feeling like shit about it.
“What is it Max?” She didn’t know what to expect from him. His demeanor changed and it made her whole body stiffen.
"I know you have questions Liz, and I want to answer them. I will answer them. It's just right now, I want to enjoy my time with you and Abby. To me, what happened with Tess on Antar, it's over. I want to start fresh. I want to forget Antar, Kivar, and Tess, all of it. Please don't be upset at me for that." He wasn't looking at her, he was looking at the floor.
“I understand Max. One question though. When you left, you never told me good bye. Do you know how the made me feel when I woke up to find you gone? After that magical night we shared, it was like you took that away too.”
“Liz I couldn’t tell you good bye. It took every ounce of my being just to get out of that bed. Seeing you lying there, glowing from our love making in the desert and in your bed. If I had to say those words to you, th..they just seemed so final. I knew you would cry and I can’t bear to see you cry Liz.”
“I have cried a lot since you’ve been gone Max. You were suppose to be gone for a couple of weeks, not three years! So by you not telling me good bye, I felt hurt and betrayed. At least if we had said our good bye’s and you didn’t come back, I could of had, to some extent, had some finality with you.”
Realizing what Liz was saying, he wanted to comfort her. He knew that he hurt again and the healing process would be long but however long it took, he would make everything up to her. There was nothing holding them back anymore.
“I know I have messed up so many times and you no matter how hard I tried to not do that, you were the one who got hurt the most. I am so sorry Liz. I know those are just words to you but that’s all I have.” Max looked up at Liz, holding his hand out to her for her to take. He had hoped to see some kind of reaction from her but didn’t get it, he kept going.
“When you and I were in the desert that night, that was my first time Liz. Tess and I never slept together, you were my first. Do you know how relieved I was to find that out? I wanted to tell you so bad but I couldn’t and it added to my determination to get home that much more futile.”
Liz was a mess. She couldn’t tell if she was mad at what Max was saying or if she was happy at what he was saying. She didn't even think about all of that last night when he said it. She was still in shock. It was just now sinking in that he too had been a virgin. But that perfect night Liz and Max had shared, he actually had given her two gifts. She could feel her face flush, just the mere thought of that night. She knew that in order to move on, some of this baggage had to be let go of. Since Abby was here, they both knew that this discussion should be ending and picked back up when they had time alone.
Abby peaked her head out of her room. She didn't make a noise. Max sensed her first as he turned his head in her direction “C'mere baby girl, you can come out now if you want.”
“Otay.” She slowly made her way out of her room, and Liz realized that she had gotten herself dressed. It didn't match at all, but it was adorable.
“I see you dressed yourself again Abigail Elizabeth!” Liz laughed pulling Abby over towards them.
"Well I think she's stunning! "Max said as he swooped her up in his arms.
“Do you want to go see Grandma and Grandpa Abby?" Max asked.
“Yes, want to see G’ma and G’pa.”
“Ok, go bring me your shoes and we can leave.” Abigail tore out the room, fetching her shoes.
“That was easy.” Max said as he stood up.
“It's always easy going. Just wait until we have to bring her home. Then it's a different story," Liz laughed.
"Do you mind that I suggested that? I want to have some time to talk to you alone. Not that I don't want to spend time with Abby, it’s just that I want to hear all about the last three years." Max squeezed her hand, he didn't want Liz to think that he didn't want their daughter around.
“No, its fine! She loves to go over there, as you can already tell.”
Abby came running back out of her room, shoes in hand. She walked right up to Max, motioning him to put her shoes on. Once her shoes were on, she was at the door. "Let's go!"
Max, Liz and Abby walked in the front door of the Evans’ and Abby ran screaming through the living room toward the kitchen calling for her Grandma.
Diane came out and met Abby half way, “how’s my girl!” Diane said as she picked her up and swung her around. Max’ eyes swelled up with tears seeing his mother with Abby. As soon as she saw Max and Liz in the foyer, she walked over to them still holding her granddaughter. Max tried to quickly wiped his eyes, but it didn’t go unnoticed by his mother. She leaned over and gave him a hug, letting him know that it was ok.
“I’m so glad that you made it over to Liz’, Max.”
“I am too.” He said as he looked down at Liz who was still standing beside him.
“Liz, my dear, how are you?”
“Good Diane, good.” Liz said as she hugged Diane, planting a small kiss on each cheek.
"Thank you for bringing this pretty little girl over here. I see she dressed herself again.”
"Yes, you know how she is.” Liz smiled and squeezed Max' hand.
“Mom, we were hoping you could watch Abby for a few hours while Liz and I went to talk, we want to try and catch up.”
“Oh honey, absolutely. She can stay as long as she wants. Do you want her to spend the night?”
“I don’t think that would be necessary, Diane.” Liz didn't have a problem with Abby staying, she just didn't want anyone to think she was pawning off her daughter.
“Mommy, me wanna stay. Pwease?”
Liz looked at Max then to his mother, “Ok, you sure you don't mind?”
“Nonsense! You know better than that. ” Diane looked at Max and continued "she thinks she's burdening us, try to talk some sense into her! This happens every time Abby stays."
“Yay” Abbi said with glee. Max and Liz reached for her and gave her a big hug. “You listen to your grandma and grandpa, ok?”
“Ok, I a big girl.”
“Yes you are sweetie. I love you and I’ll be back tomorrow morning to get you, ok?”
Max and Liz kissed their daughter then Diane before they headed out the front door.

Thanks a bunch for the great feedback!!
This chapter is shorter than we normally like but we can't stand Isabel and she already gets enough of your time.
We won't post again til the weekend but until then...ENJOY!
Isabel had gone to Jesse's house right after Max had left to go see Liz. She had called him before just showing up at his house, and after 15 minutes of convincing him it was her, they talked for a few minutes and then she headed over. When Jesse had opened the door, she wasn't sure what to expect. Jesse immediately pulled her inside and hugged her, afraid that if he let her go, she would disappear.
"You're here! You're safe!" Jesse said between kissing her.
Isabel pulled back, she needed to tell him the truth now, before she chickened out. "Jesse, we need to talk. "
"I know we do, but not now. We have to make up for lost time" as he was pulled her into the bedroom.
"Jesse! What are you doing? We can't do this, not now. Not before I have a chance to tell you everything."
"It's ok Isabel" he was laying her down on the bed now. "I want to make love to my wife, the rest can wait."
Isabel and Jesse lay in bed, after making love, just talking. Isabel was still trying to get up the nerve to let him in on her secret. She loved him, and was terrified that once he found out, he wouldn't want anything to do with her.
“I have missed you so much. I never thought you would come back.” he said as he held her.
“Of course I would Jesse, I love you.”
“I love you too.” She pulled away from him realizing something was different.
“You know don’t you?”
Hesitating before he spoke, he looked away and walked over to the window. “Yes. Kyle, Liz, and Maria told me one night when we all were having a few drinks.”
Isabel walked to where he was standing, putting her arm on his lower back, “they told you? I wanted to be the one to tell you the truth, Jesse.”
Looking over his shoulder to where she was now standing and touching the small of his back, “of course they told me, they had to. I wanted to contact the FBI, the CIA, whomever I had to do to find you.”
“You want to talk about it?”
“I do but not right now. I know all there is to know but what I want to know is why it took you so long to come back and what happened while you were there?”
“Max, Michael, and I want everyone to be together when we talk about everything. We're trying to arrange a time that is good for everyone. Maybe this Saturday."
“How are you're parents holding up? They were worried sick Isabel! So was I! You mean there was no way at all to contact us? To let us know you were all ok?” His anger getting the best of him but he held it in.
“No, there was no way to contact you. Don't you think we would have Jesse? Everything is going to be ok. My parents know, you know. Everything should be fine.” she said trying to convince herself.
“How can it be? I am married to an alien, Isabel!” He was flapping his arms around in the air as he paced the width of the living room. “How can anything be ok?”
“Jesse, I know you are angry, you have every right to be. I am so sorry but I had to go back, my brothers needed me.”
“And your husband didn’t?”
“Ok, I can see that you are upset. Just calm down.”
“Calm down? Geeze! I've been holding this in for 3 years Isabel. And you come here being calm and rational” Under his breath while still pacing the floor he muttered “she tells me to calm down.”
Isabel went over to have a seat on the couch, patting it for him to sit beside her. “Come on, sit down with me. We can talk about something else.”
Jesse stopped pacing and did what she asked. He sat down, his feet planted firmly on the floor, his elbows on his knees as he sat straight up, playing with his wedding ring.
“What do you want to talk about Isabel since you can’t tell me anything until you're meeting?"
“Well why don’t you tell me about Kyle and the others told you about ‘us’. Besides, I never knew you drank, you have to tell me that story” she said as she smiled, trying to get his mind of the present.
The thought of the story made Jesse smile, and forget that he was actually upset at all. “Well it’s funny actually. The four of us went to some dive near the Crashdown, a new place that has Karaoke. It was Maria’s idea, she wanted to sing so we went one night.”
“Wow, I didn’t realize that you guys hung out together. That’s great.”
“Well I would never leave the house. It had been a year, and one night Kyle came over and we had a few drinks, he wanted me to loosen up some, and he wanted me to go out with him and the girls. He didn’t tell me where we were going, told me to just sit back and enjoy myself, we had a beer here before we left. I should have known something was up but I was feeling pretty good, so I just went with the flow. We walked into the bar, Maria and Liz were already there waiting for us.”
“Its about time you men showed up! I was just getting ready to go up on stage. You better be glad that you didn’t miss me.”
Liz looked at Kyle and Jesse “she has already had two shots of Sex on the Beach, so watch out, she’s on a roll tonight boys!”
“Yo Liz? How many have you had?” Kyle snickered.
“Oh. Ummmm me? Well I think I had two shots of Sex on the Beach too. We sorta had a race.”
“So, why are we here tonight?”
“That’s easy! Jes man, we are here to get you drunk. Buddha always says ‘A jug fills drop by drop.’ He slapped Jesse on his back as he yelled to the waitress to bring him a Heineken.
Everyone was having a good time. Jesse and Kyle were on still drinking their beer while Maria and Liz got up on the small stage. There was a mirrored ball on the ceiling, lights flashing and the smell of stale beer permeated the air but everyone was having a good time.
“Man, I can’t believe Liz went up there with Maria. What is she doing? She's a mother now!”
“Well there are lots of things you don’t know” Kyle said as he watched the girls getting their song set up.
“I wonder what they are going to sing.”
“Hell if I know! Liz can’t sing worth two cents, so this should be good”
The music started playing, the flashing lights were moving to the beat of ‘Express Yourself’ by Madonna as Maria and Liz paraded around the stage, Maria singing lead....’”Come on girls, do you believe in love? ‘Cause I got something to say about it and it goes something like this...’” The guys in the bar went crazy.
“Holy shit, is Liz grinding?”
“Dude, it looks like it!” Both guys leaned up in their seats, elbows on the table, staring at their friends on stage.
“Do you guys always have this much fun here?”
“Yeah since those dumb ass aliens left, we have all took on a new meaning on life.”
Jesse was laughing, then he realized or so he thought he heard Kyle say aliens. “Did you say aliens? What are you talking about Kyle?”
“You know man, when the pod squad left us, come on you had to know they were aliens.”
Jesse about choked on his beer but didn’t bring it up again. He knew Kyle was drunk so he just brushed it off. “I don’t know what you are talking about. Lets get another round of beer.”
*Two Hours Later*
The whole gang was trashed. Luckily for them, they were only walking distance to their homes. The night went on as the group sang almost every song from their seats that came on the Karaoke machine and danced in the isles and in their seats. The four friends were having a blast and finally Jesse got up to join in, that night, they all bonded.
The gang talked, laughed and was really enjoying themselves. The guys kept teasing their waitress because she was being a bitch and flaunting her big ass in front of the guys while making snide comments to the girls. Jesse grabbed Kyle by his shirt collar and whispered something in Kyle’s ear and both laughed out loud as they got up.
“Ummm, Maria and Liz? You want to join us on stage?” Jesse said with a devilish grin.
“I think I’ll sit this one out guys,” Liz said as she stopped dancing in her seat. She knew they were up to no good and the view looked better down where she was sitting.
“Oh, I want to go!” Maria got up from her seat and joined the men on stage. The three were whispering back and forth to one another while on stage as Liz sat and wondered what they were up to.
“Yeah Cookie, you would, wouldn’t you? Come on, looks like Jesse is leaving us in the dirt.”
The lights dimmed on stage, the music stopped and the crowd grew instantly quiet. Maria held a microphone and was standing beside Jesse who was also holding a microphone but Liz couldn’t see Kyle. You could have heard a pin drop in the bar, as all eyes were on stage.
As Maria went to start to sing as the spotlight was shining on her. “Oh, my, god. Liz, look” pointing toward their hateful waitress “at her butt! It is so big.” Gesturing and circling the area around her own butt “she looks like, one of those rap guys' girlfriends.” Liz was laughing so hard, she actually snorted! She may have been drunk but Liz couldn’t keep her eyes off Maria and their one pissed off waitress, as Maria continued. “But, y'know, who understands those rap guys? They only talk to her, because she looks like a total prostitute, 'kay? - I mean, her butt, is just so big. *scoff* - I can't believe it's just so round, it's like, out there, I mean - gross. Look! “ Kyle came out from behind and was mimicking her moves.
Instantly the music reverberated off the walls as Jesse started his part of the song as Kyle came out again shaking and grabbing his own ass prancing around the stage to the music......
Jesse: “I like big butts and I can not lie - You other brothers can't deny - So, fellas!”
Kyle screams and grabs himself, “Yeah!”
Jesse: “Hey Fellas!”
Kyle grabs himself again and thrusts forward, still singing his part, “Yeah!”
Jesse: “Baby got back! So, ladies!”
Maria rubbing her thighs up and down, leaning her back into Jesse, “Yeah!”
Holding his free hand up in the air, Jesse shouted as he continued, “hey ladies!”
Jesse: “So your girlfriend rolls a Honda, playin' workout tapes by Fonda - But Fonda ain't got a motor in the back of her Honda - My anaconda don't want none - Unless you've got buns, hon”
Liz was raising her beer to the gang on stage and screaming out their names. The crowd loved the show Kyle, Maria and Jesse were putting on. Once the song was over, they came back to the table their waitress wouldn’t even look them. While they were on stage she managed to flip Maria the bird before leaving for the night, making Maria shake her butt even more.
“Hey lard ass, leave my girl alone.”
“You’s talking to me, shorty?”
Kyle was impressed with her english, he decided to talk the same way. “Yeah’s I’s a talking to you!”
Jesse, Maria and Liz were busting a gut, laughing at the two bickering back and forth. Jesse leaned back in his seat and was feeling pretty damn good but he didn’t want to see his friend get in trouble “come on man, leave her alone, she’s a loser.”
“You’s calling me a loser? If I’s were you, I would keep my ‘overbite’ mouth shut!”
Liz and Maria’s eyes grew big as saucers by that last comment and they looked to Jesse then to Kyle, not knowing what to say. Jesse was so stunned he fell backwards onto the floor and the waitress laughed, as well as the others at the table. He jumped up with his beer still in his hand, “I”m oooooookay!”
Kyle stood up “well atleast he’s got teeth yo....”
“Kyle! Sit now!” Maria said as she rose from her seat and got in the waitress’ face as she proceeded, “See now you’ve gone and done it. Not only did you insult me but you insulted my friends and see that’s a no-no. Why don’t you take your trashy trailer park ass back over to the bar before I have to break open a can of whoop ass!
"And that's how I found out. Drunk off my ass, singing Karaoke. Of course we all talked more about it afterwards when we were sober. Kyle barely remember even letting it slip, but I didn't forget." Jesse was still laughing. He was not mad anymore. He had three years to work through that stuff, he wasn't going to take it out on her now. He looked at Isabel to gage her reaction.
“So did you guys do that often or was it something that you did that one time? I’m sorry Jesse but I can’t imagine you singing on stage, much less drinking that much to be able to do that on stage.” part of her was hurt that she never had much of a chance to go out and have fun like that with her husband.
“Well we do it all the time. Once everything gets out in the open with the group and we all go back to our normal lives, I think you, Max and Michael should go with us.”
“Well, it would be a first for me, but I would love it!” Truthfully, Isabel wasn’t sure she wanted to be in a bar, drinking and acting stupid but it pleased her husband and at this point, she would do anything to keep him and make it up to him for all she had done to him.

Ok sorry folks, we had to amend this.
Liz rolled over in bed and immediately realized something wasn't right. Max wasn't there. Sitting up she looked around the room. Nope, no sign of him. 'Great, I scared him off. He wasn't ready, I pushed him, and now he couldn't face me.' she thought to herself. After their initial encounter, the rest of the night, Max made love to her gently, not wanting to rush anything. It had been perfect. Something that Liz dreamt about for the last three years, had become a reality, and she wasn't about to let Max run away from it or have any regrets. She didn't.
Liz stepped out of bed and threw on a T-shirt. As soon as she stepped out of the bedroom, the smell of coffee hit her senses. She wandered out to the kitchen, hoping to find Max, but still no sign of him. Figuring he couldn't have gone too far, she poured herself a cup of coffee and headed over to the balcony, stopping before she opened the doors to go outside. Max was sitting outside, a cup of coffee in hand. His head was leaning back into the chair and he had his eyes closed. Liz watched him sitting out there, not wanting to disturb him. He looked beautiful to her. She stood there mesmerized, lost in the thought of their love making the night before and how much she really had missed him while he was gone. She must've been out of it for awhile, because she suddenly heard him clearing his throat.
As if he knew she had been thinking about him, a small grin appeared on his face. "Uh..Liz, are you ok over there?"
"Huh? Oh! yeah, just trying to wake up" Liz actually felt embarrassed. How long had she spaced out? "I thought maybe I scared you off" she said quickly. Maybe too quickly.
He got from the chair and made his way over to her. She felt nervous. Like she did when she was in high school. Last night, she was more than aggressive, and this morning, she was being shy. Which didn't go unnoticed by Max.
"You didn't scare me off. You can't get rid of me that easily Liz, you know that." |Smiling, he bent down and gave her a quick kiss, which caused her to jump, then brushed past her, heading back to the kitchen for more coffee.
"So what time do you want to go over to my parent's house to pick up Abby?" Max came out of the doorway, and leaned on the frame, content in just watching her. He wondered if she was always this frazzled in the mornings. He had only spent a few nights with her in the past, and usually they were up and running as soon as they were awake. He thought this side of her was definitely cute, and very much a turnon.
"I was thinking we could go get her after we showered, and maybe ate some breakfast" she mumbled. He was unnerving her, and he knew it. The way he was looking at her, with one eyebrow raised, and a slight smirk, was not helping her. He looked unbelievably sexy leaning against the wall like that, no shirt on, pajama pants hanging low on his hips. Where was the Liz from last night? She would be going over there and dragging him back to the bedroom.
"Well, I'll start breakfast then, and you can go get in the shower. How's that sound?"
He still hadn't moved an inch. Actually, he seemed to get more comfortable leaning against that wall. Liz actually felt dizzy. How could she possibly want someone so much? Well, she wasn't going to initiate anything this time. If he wanted her, she was right here waiting. 'But a little nudging wouldn't hurt' she thought.
"Breakfast sounds good to me. What are you making?" At that point Liz decided that she wanted a refill on her coffee before she got in the shower. Walking towards the kitchen, she ever so slightly brushed up against him as she came through the entryway. She felt him tense, but she kept on going, straight to the coffee pot.
His self control went right out the window when her body skimmed his. Max grabbed her from behind as she was pouring her coffee, and gently pulled him flush up against him. Slowly, he began kissing the back of her neck, turning her body to face him. He was breathing heavy, and the look of desire in his eyes was overwhelming her.
"I was wondering how long it was gonna take you to make your move Max" Liz chuckled before he captured her in another breathtaking kiss. Without saying a word, he lifted her up, his lips never leaving hers, and carried her to the bedroom.
"I hope you realize that I'm never going to get tired of this" he panted.
"I'm expecting nothing less" she told him before he made love to her again.
Max and Liz arrived at the Evans' house to a little girl that was very excited to see her parents. Abby filled them in on everything that grandma and grandpa let her do, and how much fun they had.
"Daddy outside!" Abby started pulling on Max' hand. She was growing weary of entertaining herself while the adults were conversing. "Pease!!"
"Ok! Let's go!" he swooped her up and carried her towards the back door. Turning around to Liz
"We'll be out back, come and get us when you're ready to go"
Diane and Liz watched them disappear into the backyard.
"It's like he's been here the whole time with her, like he's not a stranger to him at all" Liz commented, more to herself than anything.
"Do you think it's because of who they are? Maybe they bond differently than humans?" Diane was almost as puzzled as Liz. And if she wasn't witnessing it with her own eyes, she might not believe it otherwise.
"When Max got back, before I knew he was here, Abby kept talking about her daddy. Like she knew he was here. But Max didn't know about her" Liz sighed. "I've given up on trying to figure some things out anymore" she grinned throwing her hands up in the air. It didn't matter anyway. Abby had her father, and Liz had Max back.
"Maybe he did know it, and just refused to believe it." Diane said hesitantly.
Liz thought about that. It would make sense. When Tess told him she was pregnant, he actually believed he was connecting with his son. Then there was no son. So any pull he may have had from Abby, he could have just contributed to Tess' mindgames. But this was something she didn't want to go into with Diane at the moment. "Yeah" was all Liz could come up with for a response.
Switching gears, Liz asked Diane if they could all meet there for dinner or something while Michael, Isabel and Max told about what happened on Antar. Diane knew that Max and Isabel wanted family around and she was more than happy to offer her home.
“So is this Saturday ok for you?” Liz was hoping that was ok, since she already talked to Michael and Maria about it. She knew Kyle wouldn’t be a problem and Maria was going to talk to Jim.
“Saturday would be good. I’ll have Phillip pick up some stuff for the grill. Don’t you worry about a thing sweetie” Diane smiled. “Oh, and Liz? Are you’re parents going to be here?” Diane knew that Liz had never told her parents about Max, but it was time to get these things out in the open. She knew that Jeff and Nancy loved Abby with all their heart, but seeing Max back after a three year absence was going to be hard to explain. They would demand to know why he left their daughter and granddaughter for so long.
Liz sighed. She hadn’t even thought about talking to her parents. Oh God, her parents didn’t even know Max was back! “I need to talk to Max, as well as Isabel and Michael because this affects them too.”
“I think they will be fine with it honey. But it’s going to be a shocker, so be ready to answer a lot of questions” Diane squeezed her hand. “They will understand Liz. They love Abby and they love you. They also know how much you love Max. And this will probably answer a lot of those questions they had years ago when you kids were so secretive.”
At that moment they heard someone coming through the front door.
Diane stood up “That must be Isabel and Jesse.” She looked back at Liz “And she doesn’t know about Abby. I didn’t tell her, I wanted to surprise her” Diane winked at Liz and headed toward the door.
“There you two are! I was wondering when you were going to show up. You were supposed to be here an hour ago” Diane leaned and kissed Isabel on the cheek before turning to Jesse. “I take it things went well?”
“Yes mother, he knows. He has known for a while, thanks to Kyle.” Isabel made her way into the living room where Liz was sitting on the sofa. “Liz!” She ran over and pulled her up into a hug. “How are you? You look really good!” Isabel had actually missed her. In the three years they had been gone, she realized just how much her brother loved this girl, and how much Liz went through for him. For all of them. “Where is Max?”
Liz looked over at Diane “He’s outside…”
“Outside? What’s he doing outside? Get him in here! Jesse wants to say hello!”
“I see you haven’t changed much Isabel” Liz laughed. Jesse and Diane were laughing with her, nodding in agreement.
“Well if you all are going to stand here, I’m going to go get my brother” Isabel walked into the kitchen and looked out into the back yard. She stopped for a second..then continued on to the back door.

Thanks for the bumpage!!!
We are nearing the end and Michael will meet Abby soon enough. Him and Maria have been too 'busy' to ummmm, talk.
Isabel agreed to keep Abby for the night. She practically jumped up and down with giddiness over being able to spend time with her niece. Abby had no problems adjusting to Isabel either. Liz just knew that Abby was going to come home with painted toes and nails, and probably a whole new wardrobe knowing Isabel. After almost fifteen minutes of hugs, kisses, and goodbyes, Max and Liz finally left the Evans'.
Once they were in the car, Liz turned to Max. She knew that he was nervous about seeing her parents, let alone telling them what he was. She watched him as he put the key in the ignition, and stopped to run his fingers through his hair. Her heart ached for him, she realized that she could never know just how he was feeling. She didn't want him to think that she was pushing him to do this, it had only seemed like a good idea when she was talking to his mother. Maybe she just got swept up in the moment? Would her parents freak out? She couldn't honestly say. Liz knew that they loved Abby with all their heart, and the truth about Max would have to come out, because her parents wouldn't settle for knowing that he had just "disappeared" for three years. She leaned over and gently turned his face toward her. She melted everytime he looked at her, those soft, beautiful eyes staring back at her. "Max, I don't want to push you into doing this right now if you're not ready." Her hand caressed the side of his cheek.
He cupped his hand over hers and lightly squeezed her fingers. "You're not pushing me. I'm scared though, not so much of them knowing what I am, but that I ever left you to begin with. What are they going to think of me then? "
"I don't know what their reaction is going to be Max, I can't lie and say that I do. But you're Abby's father, and you're the man that I'm in love with, so they will have to accept my decision. I know that your secret will be safe with them though, that I can promise." She withdrew her hand from his face and placed it on his thigh. "Let's get going, before I lose my nerve right along with you." She gave him a small smile as if to reassure him, and maybe herself as well.
"We're here." Max sucked in a breath, letting it out slowly trying to calm his nerves.
Liz was very aware of his nervousness, and she wanted to calm him down. “I’m not sure what I’ll say to them Max, but it will be ok. Let’s just see how it goes before one of us starts telling them the truth. If we feel like they are going to flip out or something, then we can go to Plan B.” Liz was babbling at this point, which she knew probably wasn't helping the situation.
Eyeing Liz sideways, along with his dry sense of humor, “and Plan B is...what exactly?”
“You’ll know it, if I have to use it.”
Making their way out of the car, they instantly grabbed hands like they did so many years ago, when they walked in the Crashdown together on that crisp morning; only this time they weren’t at the Crashdown but outside her parents house. As they approached the front door of the Parkers, still holding hands while sneaking peaks, they mentally reassured one another that everything would be fine. Max knew that her parents were going to have a lot of questions but he was finally home and nothing was going to stand in the way of his new life with Liz and their daughter. He knew that he would stop at nothing from here on out to profess his love for them. He never thought in all his life on Earth that his life would end up to be so wonderful. Of all time, never once did he think he would have such a life with Liz and that their love for one another would and could conquer all. Knowing her had made him human and being human meant he finally found that once in a lifetime love.
Breaking him out of his reflection, Liz knocked on the door once again as Mr. Parker answered it smiling at Liz, then instantly glared at Max. Holding on to Liz’ hand, he held out his other hand to shake Jeff’s who wasn’t eager to meet his hand. Looking over at Liz who had tears in her eyes, then he extended his hand, to shake it then turned and walked away mumbling something about lowlifes and deadbeat dads, leaving Max and Liz there in a daze.
Peering down from the landing of steps that made up the foyer of this moderate sized house, he had got to the top and turned around, “are you two coming?” ‘I can’t wait for Nancy to see this.’ He mumbled as Liz started after her father, gripping hold on Max’ hand. “It’s now or never” Max shook his head, then rubbing the back of Liz’ hand with his thumb, reassuring her, “I’m right here babe. I’m right here.”
“Nancy? Umm, we have company.” Jeff yelled through the living room, looking to see where Nancy had gone off to.
“Oh honey who’s here...?” She stopped dead in her tracks, unable to speak. She looked to Jeff then Max, last to Liz. “Do you care to explain the meaning of this, Elizabeth Parker?”
Liz frowned at the words her mom used to greet her. “Nice to see you too, mom.” Bitterness seeping from her lips, “can we all go somewhere to talk?”
Jeff pointed to the couch and waited for Liz and Nancy to sit down, Max never left Liz’ side but stood tall along with Jeff. No one was going to intimidate him, hell after all he has seen and done in this life, surely this man, Liz’ father, shouldn’t be too hard to get around.
“Do you care to explain why he is here and where has he been all these years?” Nancy spat out, looking at her daughter, talking as if Max isn’t in the room.
“I can answer that Ms. Parker.”
“Oh can you now? Well, we’d like to hear what you have to say for yourself. I can’t possibly think of what you have to say that is of any importance to us. You left our daughter high and dry and then out of the blue, here you are again.”
“Nancy, just let the boy talk, will ya?” Jeff most definitely wanted to hear what Max Evans' excuse was and he knew that Nancy wasn’t happy at all. “Well excuse me! Please, by all means continue Max.” If looks could kill, Max would have been a dead man the way that Nancy was glaring at him.
Max looked back and forth at Jeff and Nancy. He could do this, they were Liz' parents, his daughters grandparents. “I love Liz with all my heart. It wasn’t my purpose to be gone for as long as I was. There were complications and I got back here as soon as I could.”
“What do you mean ‘gone longer than you thought?’ Didn’t you know how to use a telephone? Everyone thought you were dead and you hurt Liz more than anything.” Nancy was almost shouting at this point. "Don't even get me started on my grandbaby either, Max. You should have been here."
Max was uncomfortable. Liz could feel him tense up again and knew she needed to intervene but before she could, Max started to interrupt. “Believe me, if I'd known" his voice trailed off for a second, he was not about to lose control. Not now, this was too important. "I understand that you are upset with me. I had had every intention on returning two weeks later but it didn’t work out that way.”
“Max, what are you talking about?” Jeff asked, his curiosity peaked.
“Dad. Mom. What we have to tell you, is something you are probably not going to understand. This has to stay here, between us. The Evans’ already know and we feel like we should just tell you the truth too. You might freak out but once you hear everything, things will fall into place and finally the puzzle will be put together.”
“Liz, you are scaring me. What could you possibly tell us that would freak us out?”
“She’s right Lizzie, what is going on? You know you can always tell us the truth. We’re your parents and we love you, no matter what. You hear me?”
Max and Liz looked at each other, momentarily speaking within their minds, mentally preparing themselves for the questions and hopes of this being the last time they would ever have to tell their story.
Leaving the Parker’s house, Liz and Max felt a huge load being lifted off their shoulders. ‘It wasn’t every day that you have to tell people that you were an alien king and have to explain your habitual disappearances, but that was the price you had to pay when you are in totally in love with a human and wanted to spend the rest of your life with that person.’
“I think that went better than I expected, don’t you?” Liz looked at Max, who seemed very content with himself.
“I do too. I am shocked actually to say the least.”
Max opened his door to let Liz in, he walked around to his side and got in and turned on the car, just sitting there. “Excuse me for a minute, I forgot something in your parents’ house. I’ll be just a minute, ok?”
“Yeah, ok.” Liz couldn’t possibly think of what he left in there but her favorite song was on the radio and she was content to stay there and listen to it.
Knocking on the door again, Jeff answered it. “May I come in and talk to you?”
“Sure Max but I thought we talked about everything?”
“Well, I wanted to ask you something, if that’s alright?”
“Anything. Remember, no secrets anymore.”
“Yes sir. I wanted to ask your permission to marry Liz. I love her and Abigail above and beyond anything. They are my family, and I’ll love them forever. But sir, I want to do right by them, even though this is... sort of backwards. It would mean the world to me if you gave me your blessing.”
“Your world or ours?” Jeff couldn’t help but joke but he said it with a twinkle in his eye that was totally unbeknownst to Max, as he stood there shaking in his shoes.
Max didn’t know how to respond but by his response. He was shocked to say the least. Was he joking or was he being serious? He wasn’t quite sure but he was sure of his answer and he meant it. “Both.”
“Does Liz know about this?”
“No sir. I wanted to ask you man to man. I would like to keep it quiet, so I can surprise Liz after I had the honor of asking you.”
Jeff looked at Max as he put his hand on his shoulder. “I have always wanted the best for my daughter. Someone who would love her unconditionally and putting her above all else, no matter what. You proved that the day you saved her life when she was shot, and yes son, you have my blessing. Welcome to our family.”
Max blinked his eyes as he extended his hand to shake his soon to be father-in-law. “Mr. Parker, thank you so much. You have made me the happiest man alive and I promise you that Liz and Abby will always be my first priority and everyday they will be showered with so much love, maybe more than they both will ever need.”
“Call me Jeff. Max? I know you have always loved my daughter even when I didn’t want to admit it. I trust you and I know you will do good by her. Now go on and get out of here before she comes looking for you.”
“Yes sir.” Max walked toward the door, then turned back around. "Jeff, we are having a sort of get together at my parents house on Saturday, I would like it very much if you and Nancy would be there. About 2 o'clock. Is that ok with you?"
"We'll be there Max." Jeff walked him the rest of the way to the door. Once he was sure that Max and Liz were driving away, he went to find Nancy.
“Who was that dear?”
“Oh? Did he forget something?”
“Not exactly. He wanted my blessing to marry Liz” he said nonchalantly as he made his way from the kitchen to the living room to finish watching his game. "Oh, and invite us to his parents house on Saturday, which I told him we would definitely show up for."
Nancy didn't even hear the part about the Evan's house. “Marriage? Jeffrey Parker, stop this instant! Are you shitting me?”
“Nancy, I shit you not. I gave him my blessing. That boy, loves our daughter and grand daughter more than life itself and I don’t see anything ever coming between that. He’ll make her very happy you know.”
Nancy laughed, “Yes, I know he will. My daughter is marrying an alien. Who woulda thunk it?”
“Certainly not I, honey.”
“I was getting ready to come look for you.”
Max leaned over and kissed her on her check then he slid his seatbelt on, “sorry babe, I forgot my wallet, it must have slipped out when I sat down.”
“No worries, I just thought you were up to something, is all.”
Max’ face was lit up with a million dollar smile before he replied to her. “Me? Up to something? Never. Hey you know what? I love you so much, Liz Parker.”
“I love you too Max Evans.”
