Part 1

February 5, 2010

Dear Diary,

My name is Elissa Dawn Parker and I have a story to tell you. You probably won’t believe it. I don’t expect you to. It’s definitely far fetched, and quite frankly, I probably wouldn’t believe it myself. However, it’s important to me that it gets told.

It all started in the year 2000. I was six then. You really have to know that I was adopted when I was six. I don’t remember anything before then. That is, nothing except a sense of loneliness and waiting. My therapist thought I had blocked out my memories of the orphanage. Then she found out about the circumstances of my adoption.

I used to think that I blocked out the memories of my birth parents because the abandonment was too painful. Used to. That was until my big sister Liz and my brother-in-law, Max told me the truth. But for you to understand all of that, I’ll have to start at the beginning. In February of 2000.

The Crashdown

“So let me get this straight,” Jeff Parker told his daughter, Liz who was sitting on her boyfriend, Max’s lap in one of the booths of his café, The Crashdown, “You two were out stargazing, lost track of time, and fell asleep.”

“Yes, Dad,” Liz said, nodding.

“Honey, I’m sorry, but I’m having a hard time believing this, especially considering what happened yesterday afternoon,” her mother, Nancy, replied.

“Mom, just please trust me.”

“If you two are having sex, we need you to be honest with us. We don’t want you to anything irresponsible that might jeopardize your futures,” Phillip Evans told his son.

“Dad, we would tell you if we were…um…you know…which we aren’t,” Max sooo did not want to be having this conversation with his parents, with Liz’s parents. That’s what you get for being out with her all night, the little voice inside his head told him. Oh shut up, he told it.

“Maybe you two should take a break from each other,” Diane Evans suggested quietly.

“NO!” yelled Max and Liz simultaneously, as Max tightened his grip around Liz’s waist.

“Okay, okay. Calm down. If you feel that strongly about it, I think we should compromise. As long as your grades don’t change and there aren’t anymore incidents like yesterday, we will stay out of your relationship. BUT if it affects you grades, OR we get calls from the school, you won’t be able to see each other for awhile,” proposed Phillip.

“That seems fair,” Jeff agreed.

“I think that that could work,” said Diane, “what do you think Nancy?”

“Well, I don’t love it, but it does seem fair. Max? Liz? What do you think?”

The young couple looked at each other. “Okay,” they replied in unison.

Liz’s Balcony

“So,” *kiss* “that,” *kiss* “went,” *kiss* “well,” Max said breathlessly. Liz pulled away for a moment to catch her breath, and Max began trailing kisses down her slender neck. “How about another glowing hickey?” he mumbled, smiling against her skin. He waited for her to nod and began sucking against her collarbone.

“On my God!” she cried pulling him closer to her.

Four glowing pods in a cave. Two with boys and two with girls. One was Max; she could sense it. The boys and one of the girls breaking out of the pods. The three hesitating before going out into the desert.

He put his hand on the small of her back, pulling her onto the lawn chair on her balcony, all the while continuing the assault on her neck. Suddenly she sat up.

“What’s wrong, angel? Did I hurt you?” he looked up at her concern in his dark eyes.

“No, I had a flash.” He looked at her amazed. “There was a cave. Inside were four iridescent glowing pods. You, Michael, and Isabel came out of three of them, and went in to the desert.”

“But you said there were four.”

“Yeah, the fourth had a little girl with curly blonde hair. She looked about six.”

“How old were Isabel, Michael and I?”

“You looked like you did in the flashes from when Michael was sick.”

“Can you remember where this was?”

“Yeah, inside a big, pointed rock formation.”

“I know where that is. Do you want to go?” She nodded and they climbed down the ladder and got into Max’s Jeep.

The Desert Outside of Roswell

“So how do we know this is even real?” Michael asked. He, Maria and Isabel were following the Jeep in Maria’s Jetta.

“Well, I guess we don’t,” Isabel replied.

“Liz wouldn’t lie to Max. She couldn’t,” Maria said, sticking up for her best friend. Michael stared at her obviously annoyed at the fact that Maria could.

“Look they’re turning,” Isabel pointed at the car containing Liz, Max and Alex ahead of them, trying to distract the feuding couple.

As they came up to a large landform Liz gasped. “That’s what I saw in the flash!” she exclaimed. Max parked the Jeep and the Jetta pulled up next to it. Everyone got out of the cars and stood in front of it. Slowly, Michael approached it. He raised his hand and waved it across the rock. A large creaking sound could be heard as part of the rock pushed back and away from an opening.

Isabel was the first to take a tentative step into a rock passageway. The others followed her into a glowing room that contained three ripped open pods and one whole one.

In that whole one was a tiny girl floating in blue green goo. Michael, Max and Isabel suddenly began to move forward.

In unison they placed their right hand on the outside of the pod. The girl inside began to stir. Max, Michael and Isabel jerked their hands back instantaneously, but it didn’t stop what was about to happen.

The girl pushed her way out of the pod. Everyone gasped. She looked up at Liz and began to cry.
