Welcome to Round Two of the Roswell Fanatics Fanfic Awards! Before you begin your nominations, please scan the rules below as they have changed since Round One!

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here, or b-mail us!

Thanks!

Anne and Katie!

1. Stories must be completed to a degree. We can't have stories that are just one chapter into a story be nominated as best Fan Fic and stuff, those will be thrown out for consideration. If the story is not WELL into it’s plot…like a minimum of 10-15 chapters for a LONG fic, or 50 or more pages, then it cannot be considered. We know this limitation is a little uncertain, so if you have any questions on whether a story is eligible, please don’t hesitate to ask.

2. When you nominate a fanfic, you must give whatever information is asked for at the top of the thread. Most categories will ask for Title and Author MINIMUM. If you don’t have this information your nomination WILL be deleted. The Author is ALWAYS needed. If you say “Everything by I’mABigDreamer” then it won’t work, because the people counting the nominations may not know what I’mABigDreamer has written. Title is unnecessary for Author-related categories. Character is needed for Character-Related categories. Scene is needed for Scene related categories. A link is also requested although not required. When you are nominating…pretty much assume that we’re stupid and we don’t know anything about the fic you’re nominating.

3. You MAY nominate fanfics from other boards or sites, but if you do so then a link to that fanfic IS required so that we can find the fic and contact the author. Without a link, the fic will be ineligable.

4. You may not nominate your own fanfics. Have faith in your readers and your own work.

5. All categories MUST be pre-approved by either Cookie2697 or Sugarplum7. Do not start new threads on this forum. If you have an idea for a new category, contact one of the two of us and we’ll talk. Any threads started by anyone other than the two of us will be deleted without question.

6. You may nominate as many different fics as you would like, but you may only nominate each fic ONCE per category. Even if a fic is already nominated by someone else in a category, nominate it again! The fics with the most nominations will make the finals, so go crazy on them!

7. A fic is ineligible if it has already won a previous fanfic award from this board.

8. We'd like this to be as varied a group of fic as possible...please try to get around and nominate as many fic as possible, rather than limiting it to only one story...we LIKE lots of nominations. Don't hold anything back!

9. Any questions or concerns, or ideas for new categories, contact Cookie2697 (AnneB) or Sugarplum7 (Katie). All rules are subject to change depending on circumstances.

hi! its great that Round Two of The Fanfic Awards have started and they are much more organised this time too. I actually wanted to ask if I could post a link to an authors story in the Best author Category. I know it may be stupid to ask but I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks a lot.

Maybe I'm blind but I was wondering where the winners for the last nominations were located. I would like to nominate again but I don't know who won the last round. I've looked under FanFic Nominations and Announcements and Updates. Where else could they be? I like the new rules. It helps to know what I'm doing!!! *big*

Hi LttleMrmade!

The reason you can't find the winners is because they are not posted anywhere. There are still some things that we are getting together. We forgot that there were some things that were promised in the old rules, and we didn't want to break promises, so we had to adjust and get things togther for it.

Don't worry. I am sure that Anne has a fantabulous, funtastic way to let everyone know who won what.

I'm glad that you like the rules, and I have a feeling Anne is glad too. If you have any questions about any of the rules we are always here to answer them.

Hugs,
Katie

PS. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask. Anne and I are more than happy to answer any questions.

Thank you Katie!!! I was just worried about voting for someone who already won since that is one of the rules! Thanks again! *happy*

Yes, Anne is very glad *happy*

My suggestion is to just go ahead and nominate away! Once we've announced the winners we'll go through and edit those nominations out...so seriously...don't worry about it for now!

Hi there,

I was just wondering if you could add a catagory..."When they were young" for stories about Our Heroes, when they were little kids.

There are quite a few great stories out there!

Thanks, jane

Hey Jane!

I haven't seen you around much lately! It's good to see you pop up again ;)

Actually, we do have a category intended for those kinds of stories. We call it the "Best Prequel to the Show" category...and it's intended for any fics ranging from when they were young children right up to the start of the pilot.

Just bumping to keep the rules from dropping off.

Question too. I expect that there will be numerous nominations for fics that have already won. Is it just that they can't be nominated for the same category, or that they can't be nominated at all?

I'm asking because say it's a long story that won while it's still being written. Now as the story progresses it starts making an impact in another category that nobody had really thought of it in before. (Did that make any sense at all?) Perhaps an example, say whichever story it was that won for 'best story you're not reading' (sorry I can't remember what it was) is now getting read by more people and realize that it has...say...a great portrayal of one of the characters. Are the readers not allowed to nominate for one of the best portrayal categories?

I think, not sure on Anne's take, but I think that it is still eligible for other categories. It just can't win again for the category it previously one.

If someone won for Best Science Fiction Fic in round one it is still eligible for the other categories. The only categories it is not eligible for are the awards that it already won. In this case Best Science Fiction Fic. At least that is what I thought.

Did that make sense?

Hugs,
Katie

PS. Thanks for bumping the rules back into sight.

Hey, I have a question as well: I know that it is a bit early, and I am by no means suggesting to bring the nominations to an end, but how long will the nominations be open? Just wondering.

I'm right with you Katie. You can't win the same category twice for the same fic. However it CAN win a category it hasn't already won!

We'll be going through and checking all the threads and editing out ineligable nominations once all the first round winners are announced.

As for how long we're going to run the nominations? Not sure yet. We don't really have a planned ending time. Not anytime soon. The first round nominations were going for a year and a half! We're defintiely not going to run them THAT long...that was pure laziness. But we'll probably give it another month or two, if not longer.

I just had a thought on a new category. Would it work to add something like Best Roleplay, and perhaps other categories related to the role plays? It'd be like the academy awards ;).

Or would the logistics of it create more confusion than it's worth? Just something to think about....

Please don't think I am ignoring this. I am actually giving it great thought. But at the moment, I don't find that this would belong here exactly. This are strictly awards for fanfiction.

Perhaps keeping the RPG awards less formal (think like MTV compared to the Academy Awards) and in the RPG forum?

Katie
