Category: M/L mainly
Summary: post Destiny/somewhat FF- Liz meets a person from her past who lets her in on the real destiny of the Royal Four and Liz vows vengeance
Liz Parker was totally beside herself. She had just let the love of her life go. Why? So he could fulfill his destiny by being with a blonde tramp. God, when did her life get so screwed up?
She stumbled along the road, heading toward Roswell. She wasn’t even aware of the figure that was now walking alongside her, at least not until the person spoke.
“Ava?” came a soft voice.
Liz’s head snapped up and she found herself staring at a short girl a little younger than herself with dark fuchsia hair and violet eyes dressed in black boots, black leather pants and a white spaghetti strap top.
“Liz,” she corrected.
The girl smiled shyly.
“Sorry, I forgot.”
Liz studied the girl warily.
“Who are you?”
“The answer to your prayers. Name’s Serena.”
Liz looked around her and saw no car or any other vehicle.
“What are you doing way out here without a car or anything?”
Serena raised a pierced eyebrow.
“I could ask you the same question. Why did you leave the cave without the others?”
Liz blinked in surprise.
“What are you talking about?” she asked nervously.
Serena rolled her eyes.
“I know that you four activated the orbs. What I don’t get is why you shot out of there like your life depended on it.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I know who you all are, Ava. I’m not stupid. That idiot brother of mine could never hide from me. Back to the subject, why did you run out of there?”
“Because I’m not one of the Royal Four. I’m assuming by Ava you mean the Queen.” Serena nodded. “Well, I’m not Ava, Tess is,” Liz spat out with malice.
Serena stifled a giggle.
“Yeah, and I’m Khivar’s bitch.”
“The man who overthrew Zan, er, Max back home.”
“Oh…wait, I still don’t get who you are.”
“If you want my ‘proper’ title, I’m Princess Serena of Roth, sister of Prince Rath, daughter of King Marcos and Queen Ami.”
“Those names seem so familiar to me,” Liz muttered.
“And so they should! Jesus, Ava, you and I used to be best friends and Rath was like a brother to you. I guess you’d know Rath as Michael.”
Liz stopped dead in her tracks as it all came flooding back to her. She whirled around and stared at Serena with wide, wild eyes.
“Oh my God, I remember everything,” she murmured.
Serena let out a relieved sigh and looked up.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” she whispered heavenward.
“So, ready to get some revenge?” Serena asked.
“Hell yes. Let’s get out of here.”
Serena snapped her fingers and her black Jeep appeared. The two hopped in and drove in the opposite direction of Roswell, only to return when they were ready to kick some ass.
The sounds of grunts and a punching bag being badly beaten echoed throughout the halls. Serena groaned and turned over in bed.
“She’s at it again,” she mumbled into her pillow.
“I know. What time is it?” Zan groaned beside her.
The purple haired beauty that boasted three tattoos and nine piercings glanced up at the clock and shook her head.
“Let’s just try and go back to sleep, okay?”
Serena nodded and tucked herself under Zan’s strong arm, laying her head on his chest.
“This has to stop soon,” she whispered as she drifted off.
Zan couldn’t agree more. The Queen was a machine, and a pissed off one at that. Two weeks, they just had to survive for two more weeks, then they could turn her loose on the Skins and all of their problems would be solved. At least he hoped so.
“Serena! Zan!” Liz bellowed.
Her two best friends came running into the throne room, still pulling their clothes on.
“What?” they asked in unison.
Liz began pacing, her boots making clicking sounds as she moved.
“We have a problem. I just talked to Lonnie and she said that Khivar has pushed up his attack on Roswell to next week.”
“But we’re not ready! The damn alignment hasn’t happened yet!” Serena shrieked.
“I know, but we don’t have a choice. We’ve been training for two solid years so we stand a chance. Besides, I will not let Max or the others die, I love them to much, especially Max.”
“Your Majesty, its suicide!” Zan exclaimed.
Liz crossed her arms over her black royal dress and stared at him.
“Fine, fine. Just call me Kamikaze Zan.”
Serena snorted and rolled her eyes at her husband.
“You’re such a retard,” she muttered.
Zan stuck his tongue out at his wife and turned back to Liz.
“So, what’s the plan?”
Liz slumped onto her throne and sighed.
“All I know is that I’m taking Tess out first.”
“I figured that much,” Zan retorted.
“Give the girl some time, it ain’t like she’s gonna come up with a foolproof plan after five minutes,” Rath said as he strolled into the room.
“Well, I know I’m being an ass when Rath basically tells me I am. Sorry Liz.”
Liz waved her hand dismissively and said, “I guess I’m going to have to get in touch with my contact.”
She stood and began walking out of the room.
“Who is your informant anyway?” Serena called.
Liz just smiled and kept on walking.
“Damn!” Serena mumbled.
“I’ll get it!” Maria called to the others as Michael’s phone rang.
The group nodded absently and she picked up the phone.
“Hello?” she said.
There was a sharp intake of breath on the other side.
“Um, is Michael there?” Liz asked, desperately trying to disguise her voice.
Maria’s eyes narrowed, but she replied, “Sure, hang on.”
“Michael, its for you, of course. It’s a girl,” she said, studying him for his reaction.
Everyone turned to look at him as his eyes widened. He jumped up, grabbed the phone, and ran into his bedroom, closing the door behind him.
“Liz?” he whispered.
“God, Liz, calling this early is not smart. You know that they’re always over here at this time.”
“I know, but it’s an emergency.”
“Khivar has moved up his attack on Roswell to next week.”
“Shit!” he exclaimed.
His outburst made Max curious and he walked over to Michael’s door, putting his ear up against it.
“I just wanted to let you know. Serena, Zan, Rath and I may be there in a day or so.”
“But you’re not ready. What if you’re not strong enough? I couldn’t bear to let you die on our account.”
“Michael, this is my fight too, remember? Besides, we’re strong enough, I can feel it.”
“I guess you’re right. I feel it too,” he admitted. “Look, your Highness, I better go before the others get suspicious. Keep an eye on Serena for me, okay? And take care of yourself, too. I love you.”
“Gee, I’m touched. I love you too, big bro,” Liz said with a grin.
“I like the sound of that. I’ll see you guys in a few days then. Bye.”
Max rushed back to his seat with a million different thoughts coursing through him. ‘Who was Michael talking to? Michael loved this girl? And who the hell is Serena?’ Max watched Michael as he rejoined them in the living room. Even though Michael was doing his best to hide it, Max could tell that he was extremely disturbed and even a little scared. ‘What is going on?’ Little did Max know that when he found out his life would change forever.
“What am I going to do? They’re going to kill me. Oh God, how did I get into this mess?” Michael muttered as he paced in his living room, waiting for Liz to call back.
“I’m going to find out what’s going on. I owe it to Maria,” Max said to himself as he walked up to Michael’s apartment. He stopped at the door when he heard the phone ring.
“Hello?” Michael said.
“Hey Michael,” a breathless Liz greeted.
“Yeah, I was working out.”
“Really, Ava, you shouldn’t push yourself so hard.”
“Well, Rath, I have a lot of issues to deal with, remember?”
“Sorry, sorry. So, when are y’all coming?”
“We should be there late tomorrow night. Is it okay if we stay with you?”
“Of course its okay! I wouldn’t have you stay anywhere else. Oh, but now I have to get food.”
“Michael, we’re coming to prepare for a war between two worlds. Food is our last priority.”
“Its not mine, damnit!”
“Sorry! I forgot how much you like your food,” Liz said while rolling her eyes.
“Don’t think I don’t know you’re rolling your eyes at me, young lady. Is that everything? Because I really need to shop now.”
“Yes, Michael, that’s everything. I’ll see you tomorrow. I love you guys.”
“I love you too. Bye.”
Michael grabbed his wallet and keys, and headed for the store, unaware of Max hiding several feet away.
“What the hell is going on?” Max mumbled to himself as he used his powers to unlock Michael’s door.
Once inside he looked around desperately for anything that could tell him who Ava and Serena were. Finally, he found a letter stored inside a box underneath Michael’s bed. He unfolded it and was startled to see that it was dated a week after Liz disappeared.
I know you remember everything now—I saw it in your dreams last night. I know that you know who I really am. Don’t worry—I’m fine. I just can’t return until the alignment in two years. Until then, do not tell anyone that you remember your past life. We wouldn’t want Tess to kill you or anything. I’ll contact you as much as I can and update you as to the status of our battle. By the way, Serena is with me. She’s changed so much and gotten so big! I know she misses you; she cries your name in her sleep. I can’t wait until we’re all together again. Stay safe.
~Love always, Ava~
Max frowned. It sounded as if Serena was Michael’s daughter or something. Oh my God. Was that the secret he’d been hiding for two years now? He had a kid? Was the kid this Ava’s?
Max was so confused. Ever since Liz vanished, Michael and Maria had been inseparable and Max was positive that Michael loved Maria. So what the hell was he doing with another woman?! Determined to find out what was going on, Max picked up to phone and dialed *69.
“Hello?” came a voice that sounded a lot like his.
“Uh, is Ava there?”
Zan frowned. Who would be calling for Liz and calling her Ava? No one called her that.
“Sure, hang on a sec.”
Zan walked into Liz’s office and said, “Liz, someone’s on the phone for you.”
Zan grabbed her arm before she could leave the room.
“They asked for ‘Ava’.”
Liz frowned and went into her room to pick up her private line.
“Hello?” she asked cautiously.
Max inhaled sharply and hung up.
Serena peeked her head in the door.
“Who was that?” she asked.
Liz shrugged. “They hung up. Weird, they asked for ‘Ava’.”
Serena shrugged and the two went back into Liz’s office.
Meanwhile, Max was sitting on Michael’s chair trying to piece together a coherent thought. The voice on the phone, Ava’s voice, was Liz’s. What the hell was Michael doing with Liz’s phone number? How the hell did he even find it out? Max was sure of one thing: when Michael got home there was going to be blood.
“All I’m saying is that we need to be careful. Look at what Tess did to your double. That crazy bitch is capable of anything,” Zan said.
“I know! God, don’t you think I know? I was there when Tess killed Ava last year, remember? I watched her die to keep Tess from discovering I’m alive. I’m very well aware of the risks.”
Zan looked down.
“I know, sorry. It’s just that it’s our job to protect you guys and I never want anything like what happened to Ava to happen to any of you. I’d die if anything happened to you guys.”
“Zan, its not your fault that Tess almost got to me. I was the one who didn’t follow your advice and went back to Roswell. If I wasn’t so stubborn and had stayed in New York, Ava would still be alive and you know that. Don’t try to take the blame.”
Zan sighed and turned around as he felt his wife enter the room.
“Plane’s ready so let’s boogie!” she said cheerily.
Zan laughed and shook his head at his insanely cute mate.
“So cornball,” he muttered under his breath.
Max paced in Michael’s living room, waiting for him to come home. When the door opened, Max was surprised to see Alex and Kyle on the other side.
“What are you doing here?” the three asked in unison.
“We were coming to invest what Michael’s been hiding from us,” Kyle admitted.
“Same here and wait until I tell what I found out.”
“What?” Alex asked, made nervous by Max’s demeanor.
“By playing detective, I’m pretty sure that Michael has a daughter named Serena—“
“What?” Kyle cut him off.
“Who’s the mother?” Alex asked at the same time.
Max sunk onto a chair and replied, “I was just about to tell you that.”
“Uh-oh, this can’t be good. Max, you look like you’re about to cry,” Kyle said.
“I am. The mother is Liz.”
His two friends stared at him with dropped jaws.
“What the hell are you three doing here?” Michael asked from the doorway.
The three turned to see a pissed Michael holding several bags of groceries.
“You son-of-a-bitch!” Max cried as he launched himself at him.
Michael immediately threw up his red shield.
“What’s your problem, man?”
“I know about Serena and Liz,” Max seethed dangerously.
“I overheard you on the phone with her twice today and then I found this,” Max said, holding up the letter.
“That’s none of your damn business,” Michael said angrily.
“None of my business? Not only is Liz alive and you know where she is, but you and her have a daughter together! How the hell is that none of my business?” Max shrieked.
“Oh my God!” Maria cried from the doorway before she hit the floor.
Max, Alex and Kyle rushed to her side while Michael just stared at them in shock. Unable to take it anymore, he burst into a hysterical fit of laughter. The boys and the waking Maria glared at him.
“What’s so funny?” Kyle asked.
Michael just laughed harder and tears began to run down his face.
“Serena! My and Liz’s daughter! Its too much!” he cried, clutching his sides.
“Michael—“ Max was interrupted by the phone.
“Hello!” Michael managed to get out.
“Mickey? You okay?” Liz asked.
“Yeah, Maxwell just said something that is so stupid it’s hysterical.”
“Do I want to know?”
“Oh, its great. Max was playing detective and based on our conversations today and the letter you wrote me two years ago, Max has come to the conclusion that you and I are together and that Serena is our daughter!”
Laughter erupted from the other end of the line.
“Is that Liz?” Max asked.
Michael rolled his eyes.
“Oh my God! I can’t believe it!” Liz cried.
“I know! I thought I was going to die when I heard that. It’s too funny. Anyway, why are you calling?”
“I was just going to let you know that we’re currently in the air on our way home.”
“That’s great! I can’t wait to see you guys. How does Serena feel about it?”
“She’s really nervous since she doesn’t know that you’ve been my contact all these years, but she wants to see you.”
“Yeah, I want to see her to. Plus, I need to make sure I approve of her husband.”
Liz rolled her eyes.
“Michael, he’s exactly like Max only with more New York punk edge.”
“Exactly! I have to make sure he’s not too edgy.”
“Look, I better go so I can deal with our spastic friends. See you in a few hours. I love you.”
“Love you too. Bye.”
Michael hung up and turned to face his friends that were now utterly confused.
“Okay, I’m not the only one confused here, right?” Alex mumbled.
“Right,” the others sounded in unison.
“Well, I’m not too confused,” said Tess as she entered the room.
Michael froze. Tess. In his apartment. After overhearing vital parts of his conversation with Liz. Fuck. He knew that if he concentrated enough he could connect with Liz, but he’d only been able to do it once.
**Liz!** he screamed in his mind.
**Thank God! Liz, Tess is here and she knows I know!**
**Shit. Um, shimmer.**
**Shimmer? What the hell is that?!**
**You know, transporting yourself and others to another place with your mind.**
**How do I do that?**
**I don’t know! That was your thing, remember?**
Michael looked around at the confused people around him and concentrated on their essences. He then visualized them, plus and Isabel himself, appearing on Liz’s plane. He pulled them and the next thing he knew, his five friends were freaking out.
“What the hell is going on?” Isabel shrieked.
“Where are we?” Max wondered out loud.
“Over Pennsylvania, I think,” Serena said from the doorway to the cargo hold.
Six heads snapped around to look at her.
“Serena,” Michael murmured.
“You know who I am?” Serena asked in surprise.
“Yeah. I’m Liz’s contact.”
Serena’s eyes widened and she threw herself at Michael.
“Oh my God! I was so afraid that you wouldn’t recognize me!”
“Well, with that hair and those piercings, I might not have.”
Serena glared and hit his arm.
“Liz was right—you haven’t changed a bit.”
Max cleared his throat. The brother and sister turned around, surprised that they’d forgotten the other people in the room.
“Guys, this is my little sister, Serena.”
Max, Alex, Kyle and Maria instantly turned red.
“Oh. Your sister.”
“Yeah, not my daughter,” Michael said with a grin.
“What?” Serena asked.
“Serena! Are they back there?” Zan called.
“Well, bring them in here. The Queen wishes to speak with them, but Michael first.”
“Okay guys, follow me,” Serena said cheerfully.
“The Queen?” Max asked as they walked.
“Yes, the Queen. As in, the Queen of Antar.”
“I thought that was Tess,” Alex said.
“God! What is it with you people? You all think that tramp is our Queen. I really don’t get that,” Serena ranted as she opened the door to the main room.
The other five dropped their jaws when they saw the twisted duplicates of Max and Michael standing in the middle of the room while Michael went to greet them.
“You must be my brother-in-law,” he said as he shook hands with Zan.
“Yes sir,” Zan said nervously.
“Please just call me Michael. None of this ‘sir’ crap.”
“So, where’s the Queen? I heard she wants to speak with me.”
“This way,” Serena said, leading him into a small room.
“Michael!” Liz shrieked as she threw her arms around him.
“Liz. God, its good to see you in person again. Thanks for your help with Tess.”
“It was nothing. So, is everyone really freaked?”
“Not as freaked as they will be when they see you.”
Liz laughed nervously.
“Right. Do I have to see them now?”
Michael gave her a look.
“Fine. How do I look?”
“Max always thinks you look good, Liz. Besides, you look beautiful. A little different, but beautiful. C’mon, let’s go in there and make some people happy.”
He took her hand and led her into the next room. Max looked up and was dumbfounded at the site in front of him. A girl with large doe eyes, shoulder length brown hair done in a ton of little braids, three earrings in each ear, and a pierced bellybutton stood before him. She was wearing a tight red top with a low scoop, tight black leather pants and black boots. She was beautiful and she was Liz.
“Meet Queen Ava of Antar, better known as Liz Parker,” Serena said with a grin.
“Hey guys,” Liz whispered.
“Liz!” Max cried as he wrapped his arms around her.
Liz closed her eyes and gave a sigh of contentment. She was finally home.
“So, Liz, what exactly happened? Where did you go? Wh—“
“Max, chill!” Michael exclaimed, interrupting a hysterical Max’s ranting. “She’ll tell you guys everything you want to know and probably more.”
Liz smiled at her brother.
“Thanks, Michael. Now, I understand that you all will have questions, but let me say everything I have to say first. On Antar, our—your home planet, there were four people known as the Royal Four. The four consisted of King Zan, his sister, Vilandra, her fiancé, Rath, and Zan’s wife, Ava. That much you already know. What you don’t know are the details of Ava’s life and death.
Well, Ava and Rath were brother and sister and had a little sister named Serena. Ava was a fierce warrior who served as General of Antar’s military before marrying Zan. Rath took over for her afterwards, though she was still pretty much in charge of the army. A man she trained named Khivar rebelled against Zan and Ava about two years after they’d married. He was a renegade who disliked the amount of control Ava had over the planet. This was mainly because he had no respect for women whatsoever. Anyways, in the first month of battle, Khivar killed Ava and made sure that Zan was there to see it. Needless to say, Zan was devastated.
Two months later, Khivar and his younger brother, Niko, killed the three remaining royals. Poor Serena was married to Niko and killed herself after their actions were disclosed. Desperate to save her planet, Zan and Vilandra’s mother worked with several scientists to recreate her precious children and children-in-law. They put the essences of Zan, Ava, Rath and Lonnie into four new bodies and created duplicates designed to protect the real Royal Four. Jocasta even took pity on Serena and recreated her as well. Unfortunately, Khivar found out what Jocasta and Larek had done was furious, so he sent his cousin, Tessala, to destroy them. She had always had a thing for Zan and quickly came up with a plan—destroy them from the inside.
When she finally arrived on Earth in 1983, she located the pods that held the real royalty and took Ava out. She was going to kill the baby, but a hiker came across them, grabbed Ava and ran. Tessala didn’t even bother to chase after them. Instead, she moved to New York, taking the dupes with her. When you emerged from the pods six years later, she was waiting and mind warped you into thinking that Ava’s pod was still there and that she was a young blonde child. After you left, she waited around until Nasedo showed up and mind warped him for years to hide her true identity from him. I think you see where I’m going with this.”
Her dumbfounded friends just stared at her.
Finally, Isabel murmured, “You’re Ava?”
“Yeah, I am. Before you ask me more questions, let me finish my story. Anyways, Tess and Nasedo moved to Roswell and she began her quest to destroy all of us, but me above all when she found out not only was I alive, but Max and I were together. Her plan worked even better with Jocasta's damn message that she sent you.
After I walked away from you guys in the cave that day, Serena found me walking on the side of the road. I guess meeting her set off a reaction that allowed me to remember my past. I left with her to begin training as Queen and prepare to face Khivar. I’d only been gone for a week when I dream walked Michael and found out that he’d also recovered his memories. That’s when I sent him the letter Max found. He’s been my informant ever since—giving me updates on everyone and stuff. We weren’t supposed to meet again until the alignment, when our powers reach their fullest, but Khivar is on his way and we need at least some time to prepare. So, anymore questions?”
Michael and Liz looked at their shell-shocked friends and laughed.
“So…you and I really are destined together,” Max stammered in amazement.
A brilliant smile lit up Liz’s face.
“Yes, we are, and nothing will ever come between us again. I love you, Max.”
It was Max’s turn to smile.
“I love you, too,” he whispered as he pulled her into another tight embrace.
Michael rolled his eyes.
“My God, you only found out she was alive an hour ago, and now you’re professing your love. How mushy can you get?”
“Liz! Oh my God…” Zan panted, running into the room with an equally confused Serena.
“What’s wrong?” the Queen demanded, going into business mode.
“Lonnie. I think Khivar’s found her out.”
Liz and Serena paled.
“What makes you think that?” the fuchsia haired girl asked.
“I was talking to her and telling her about what’s happened when Niko stormed into her room. He looked at the telecomm and asked her who she was talking to. She told him that she didn’t have to tell him anything so he stormed out of the room, only to bring Khivar back with him. Shortly after he entered the room, the screen went blank and our connection was cut. I tried to contact her telepathically, but she wouldn’t respond. I’m worried, Liz.”
Liz sighed and rubbed her temples. After a moment she turned to her friends and narrowed her eyes.
“What?” Alex asked.
“How long do you think it would take you guys to learn a few new tricks with your powers?”
“I have no idea. Why?”
“Because we’re going after that son of a bitch and we’re going to bring Lonnie home,” Liz said with a spark in her eyes.
“Here we go again,” Zan and Serena muttered in unison.
