Summary: after Departure Liz and Max slept together that night, but Liz freaks and leaves to visit cousin. She meets Mulder and Scully and becomes their babysitter. After college they talk her into going to the Academy. She becomes an agent and is assigned to the X Files. She hasn’t seen or spoken to ANYONE from Roswell since she left.

May 22, 2001

‘I can’t believe I did that! What was I thinking?’ Liz Parker fumed as she paced in her room. ‘Why did I sleep with him? Oh yeah, because I love him. Still, those flashes…’ She closed her eyes and began to cry.

After they had made love, Liz had flashes of Max and Tess together and left Max saying that she needed to get home. He was so happy that he didn’t think anything of it. Now she was in her room frantically trying to decide what to do.

Liz stopped in her tracks when her eyes rested on a picture of her cousin Sammy who lived in Washington D.C.

“I think its time to pay Sammy a little visit,” Liz mused aloud.

She packed her things, wrote notes to her parents, Max and Maria, and left.

“I’ll be back,” she promised as she stepped onto the airplane.

Little did she know that she wouldn’t return for six years.

~Part One~

July 6, 2007

Agent Liz Parker of the FBI slammed the door to her best friends’ house and walked into the kitchen to plop down in a chair.

Her best friend Dana Mulder looked up from the stove and asked, “Bad day?”
Liz sighed. “You don’t know the half of it.”

Dana studied her much younger best friend and shook her head. It was hard to believe that the girl in front of her was the same girl she had met six years ago, who was pregnant and had basically runaway from home. Dana and Mulder had instantly take a like to her and asked her to baby-sit Will for them. When Alexia Maria Evans was born, they forced Liz to move in with them. The three of them grew close and talked Liz into joining the FBI. She reluctantly did so, but found that she was a great agent. The only problem Dana had with her was that Liz refused to talk about Alexia’s father and anything else about her past.

“What happened?” Dana inquired.

“Well, that lovely husband of yours assigned me to some case that involves traveling to Roswell, New Mexico.”

“Uh-oh. I thought you told him that you didn’t want to ever go back there!” Dana exclaimed.

“I did! But that’s not all. Mulder is taking all five of us there for the case. He said that way I wouldn’t have to worry about Alexia and some other bullshit. You know that he just wants to tag along so he can get a glimpse of an alien and find out stuff about my past,” Liz ranted.

“Whoa, girl. Calm down and take deep breathes.” When Liz complied, Dana continued. “Maybe it’s a good thing for you to be going back there. I know you said that you never wanted to go back, but you need some closure. So, why did you leave exactly?”

Liz smiled. “I’ve told you a million times that I won’t discuss it. Maybe I will after we’re done with the case, but just not now.”

Dana nodded and looked out the window into the backyard. She smiled as she watched Will and Alexia holding hands as they swung. ‘Maybe she’ll get to meet her father,’ Dana thought.

Later that night at her and Alexia’s apartment, Liz sat at her desk staring at her phone.

“To call or not to call? That is the million dollar question,” Liz muttered to herself.

She finally made her decision and picked up the phone and dialed.

“Guerin residence,” a gruff voice said.

“Uh, hi. Is Maria there?” a bewildered Liz asked.

“Yeah, hang on. Maria! Phone!”

“Jesus, Michael, could you be any louder?” Liz heard Maria mumble as she picked up the phone.

“Hey Maria,” Liz said quietly.

“Who is th- Lizzie?!” Maria shrieked.

“Yeah, its me.”

“Oh my God! Where are you? Do you have any idea how freaked we’ve all been for the past six years? Do you?”

“Calm down! I’m in Washington D.C., but I’m flying to Roswell tomorrow afternoon.”

“You are? That’s great! Um, is anyone coming with you?” Maria asked, and then held her breath as she waited for the answer.

“What?! Oh God, that’s going to kill Max-“

Liz cut her off by saying, “No, nobody like that, Maria.”

“Then who?”

“Well, my best friends Fox and Dana Mulder, their son William and- and my daughter Alexia.”

“Daughter? Whose is she? How could you do that to Max? I know you left us, but we all know that you two still love each other. I mean, you do love him, right?”

“Jesus, Maria! Can I get a word in? Before you attack me, hear me out, but do not tell anyone else what I’m about to say because I need to talk to Max about it. Okay?”

“Well, Max is Alexia’s father. We slept together the night I left and I got pregnant, but I didn’t know until a month later and was just so confused that I didn’t call or come back. And yes, I’m pretty sure I still love him.”

“Wow, I just, wow. So, how have you been? What are you doing now?”

Before Liz could respond, the doorbell rang. “Hang on Ria, someone’s here.”

Liz opened the door and greeted Mulder as he stepped into her apartment.

“What can I do for you, Mulder?”

“Just wanted to give you the file on the case I assigned you and tell my goddaughter goodnight.”

“Sure, she’s in her room.”

Mulder walked out of the room and Liz glanced at the file and fainted.

The name on the file was Alexander Whitman.

~Part 2~

Mulder heard the thump in the other living room and walked in to find Liz passed out on the floor.

“Parker? Hey, Parker, wake up!” he said as he shook her.

He heard a giggle behind him and turned to face Alexia.

“Mommy’s out cold,” she said.

“So I noticed.”

Mulder could hear a shrill voice screaming and started looking around for the source. He noticed the telephone that was off the hook.

“Hello?” he said into the phone.

“Who are you and what have you done with Liz?” Maria shrieked.

“First off, the name is Mulder and second, I didn’t do anything to Liz. She passed out.”

“Oh, Mulder. She mentioned someone with that last name. I take it you’re Fox.”

“Yeah. Who are you by the way?”

“Maria Guerin.”

“Okay, well, Maria Guerin, I’ll have Liz call you tomorrow or something.”

“Whatever. Bye,” Maria said and hung up.

“Nice talking to you, too,” Mulder grumbled as he picked up Liz and put her down on the couch.

He picked up the file that Liz had dropped and reviewed it.

Suspect: Alexander Charles Whitman
Date of birth: June 21, 1984
Living arrangement: close friend: Guerin, Serena
Current Residence: Roswell, New Mexico
Other: supposedly died in 2001…
Moved to New York, NY in May 2001 w/Guerin…
Attended NYU computer studies…
Supposedly healed young girl after attack…
Disappeared June 2007…
Reappeared July 2007 in Roswell…

Mulder sighed and closed the file. ‘This isn’t getting me anywhere. I have to get to Roswell.’

“Alexander Charles Whitman, get your sorry ass in here this instant!” Serena Guerin screeched.

Alex was so surprised that he immediately sat up, only to be reminded that he was under a car.

“Jesus, Serena! I think I just got a concussion,” Alex mumbled.

“Aww, poor baby. Now, get in here!”

“Yes, oh unlady-like one.”

“Kiss my ass!”

Alex rolled his eyes and walked into the elegant two-story home he shared with Serena. Serena, the insanely beautiful, short tempered, intelligent, control freak sister of Michael Guerin.

“Ya know, you act more and more like Michael everyday even though you’ve never met him,” Alex muttered.

“Yeah, well, its genetic. Now would you care to explain this to me?”

“Explain what?” a confused Alex asked.

“This!” screamed the 5’6, 125 lb, blue eyed blonde dressed head to toe in Gucci while pointing at the computer.

Alex shifted his gaze from the pissed off powerhouse to the computer screen and gulped.

“Wh-what is that?” he asked, knowing all to well what he was looking at.

“This? This is the FBI file dedicated to you. It talks about how you’re not dead, how you live with me, and oh, it talks about you saving that girl who was attacked at the park. It talks about how you healed her and all that jazz!” she shrieked.

“Serena, I’m so-“ Alex began.

“I’m not finished. I haven’t told you the best part yet. The agents who will be investigating this incident are Agent Fox Mulder, Agent Dana Mulder and, you’ll never guess, Agent Elizabeth Parker!”

“L-Liz?” Alex got out before he passed out.

“I swear to God, all you human-turned-alien people are gonna be the end of us,” Serena muttered to no one particular as she dragged Alex’s body into his bedroom.

“Enjoy your sleep, happy-go-lucky healing boy. You’re gonna need as much as you can get,” Serena said as she shut the door.

Two streets over, Max Evans sat in his room staring at a picture of Liz and crying.

“Why did you have to leave me? I need you so much. I’ll do anything, just come back!” Max cried with tears running down his face.

The phone rang, interrupting his nightly ritual.

“Hello,” he said, trying to sound normal.

“Max! Guess what!”

“What, Maria?”

“Lizzie’s coming home!”

There was silence while Max digested that information.

“Max? Are you there?” Maria asked.

“Uh, yeah. Sorry, it’s just, this is like a dream. She’s really coming home?”

“Yep, and she still loves you and wants to talk to you!”

Max didn’t say anything. He just sat there with the phrase ‘she still loves you’ running through his mind over and over.

“Thanks, Maria, I’ll talk to you later.”

“K, bye girlfriend! Tell Izzy goodnight for me.”

“Sure,” Max said and hung up.

‘Thanks, God. I owe you one,’ Max prayed as he slipped into his first peaceful sleep in six years.

After Mulder left, Alexia snuck out of her room and into the study. ‘Now, where is the thingy that made Mama faint?’ she thought to herself as she looked around the room.

“Got’cha!” she exclaimed as she honed in on the file.

She picked it up and read through it.

‘Well, the cat’s out of the bag now,’ she thought as she put the file back on the desk. ‘I just hope that an intergalactic war doesn’t start, because I’d be the first one executed.’

part 3

“Great! I’m never going to get to sleep!” Serena exclaimed in frustration as she turned over in bed. Just as she began to get comfortable, the phone rang.

“Great, just fucking great.”

Serena reached over to her bedside table and grabbed her cell phone.

“Serena,” she answered.

“Hi Aunt Serena, its Alexia.”

“Alexia, its after midnight, what do you need?”

“Mommy knows.”

“Does she know everything yet?”

“No, just that Uncle Alex is alive. She fainted before she could read anything else.”

“Yeah, Alex fainted when I told him your mother was on his case.”

“What are we gonna do? Mom, Dad and their friends are gonna kill me when they find out that I knew about Alex.”

Serena sighed. “I don’t know, sweetie. We’ll just have to deal with everything as it comes. So, anything else new?”

Alexia hesitated a moment. “Uh, yeah, but don’t freak out. Khivar contacted me a few days ago.”

“I told you not to freak out!”

“Sorry. What did he want?” Serena asked through clenched teeth.

“What do you think he wants? Me, Mama, Daddy, Alex and the ability to use the Granilith. It’s the same every time.”

“Great. How’s Tess?”

“She’s dead.”

“Really? Do tell.”

“Apparently, Khivar got mad at her because every offspring she produced was rejected by the Granilith. After the tenth kid, he snapped and killed her. Larek said that that was the only good thing he’s ever seen Khivar do.”

Serena laughed. “I can see it. Well, that just proves that little Tessie wasn’t the real queen.”

“Nah, really? I better go, our flight leaves at ten in the morning.”

“Okay, sweetie. I guess I’ll see you soon.”

“Yep, goodnight Aunt Serena,” Alexia said and hung up the phone.

‘Tomorrow’s gonna be buckets of fun,’ Alexia thought as she drifted off to sleep.

July 7, 2007

Liz sighed as she took another sip of her coffee and decided that it was time to bite the bullet and read through the file on Alex. Each sentence only made her eyes grow wider.

‘Oh my God, he didn’t die, he can heal people, and he lives with a Serena Guerin. Serena. Guerin. That is too much to be a coincidence. Oh wait, he lives two streets over from Max! Jesus!’ Liz thought as she tried to process everything she’d just read.

Liz groaned and rubbed her temples.

“Hey, Mulder!” she called.

Mulder looked up from his laptop. “What?”

“Do you have anything on this Serena Guerin?”

“Yeah, but there’s nothing on her before April 2001. Here.”

He passed the file to Dana and she brought it over to Liz. “What does it say?”

“Let’s find out,” Liz muttered.

Name: Serena Elizabeth Guerin
Date of birth: unknown
Age: approx. 22
Living arrangements: close friend: Whitman, Alexander
Current Residence: Roswell, New Mexico
Other: Not much known
Associates with a Smtih, Zan and a Johns, Ava

After reading the entire file, Liz set it down and said, “Well, that doesn’t help much.”

“Yeah,” Dana agreed.

Meanwhile, Mulder was searching for further information on Alex over the Internet.

As he came across his obituary, he whispered, “Shit!”

Dana and Liz turned to him.

“What’s wrong, honey?” Dana asked.

“Nothing,” Mulder said and faked a smile.

He looked back down to the screen and reread it to make sure he was right.

‘What the hell is going on? Liz knew him? This is getting so weird,’ he thought as he typed in Liz’s name.

What he found stunned him. Not only was there the article about the shooting at the Crashdown, but there were documents Pierce had on her that were never destroyed.

‘If I didn’t think she was hiding stuff before, I definitely do now,’ Mulder thought. He turned the laptop off and began to think about the next step he should take.

part 4

Later that afternoon, Liz and her group pulled up in front of the Crashdown.

Mulder immediately recognized it and asked, “Why are we coming here again?”

Liz raised an eyebrow and replied, “To eat, Mulder.”

He frowned. “Yeah, of course.”

Liz and Dana exchanged their ‘he’s being weird again’ look before climbing out of the Navigator.

Alexia grabbed her mother’s hand and heard her mutter, “Here goes nothing.”

The five stepped inside and Liz spotted Maria at their old booth with a little boy and girl.

Michael noticed Liz and smiled. Maria turned to see whom he was smiling at and saw her.

“Liz!” Maria screamed as she threw her arms around her old friend.

Liz grinned. “Hey Maria, you look great. How far along are you?”

Maria rubbed her hand over her large belly and said, “Five months. Deirdre here is Guerin child number three. The two over there are twins, Alex and Beth, short for Elizabeth.”

“They’re beautiful,” Dana remarked.

“Thank you. I take it you’re the friends Liz was telling me about.”

“Yeah. I’m Dana Mulder, this is my husband Fox, and our son, Will.”

“Nice to meet you all.” Maria turned her attention to the small girl with dark hair and large amber eyes. “I take it you’re Alexia.”

“Yep. Alexia Maria Evans,” she said proudly.

Maria beamed. “That’s a beautiful name, especially the middle one.”

Alexia grinned. “You’re just the way Mom described you.”

Liz’s eyes widened and she shot Alexia a look. Alexia continued to grin devilishly.

After hugging Michael and meeting the twins, Liz turned to the Guerins and said, “So, where’s Max?”

“He’s-“ Michael began.

“Right behind us,” Alexia finished as she turned to face Max.

Liz turned and saw the most glorious sight she’d seen in six years: her Max.

“Liz,” he murmured, in awe of her beauty.

“Max!” Liz cried and flung her arms around his neck, holding him close.

Max closed his eyes and savored the feel of her in his arms. It was perfect.

“I’ve missed you so much,” he whispered.

“I know; I’ve missed you too.”

Max opened his eyes and noticed the people with Liz for the first time.

“Uh, hi,” he said shyly.

“Max, these are my best friends Fox and Dana Mulder, their son Will, and this young lady is-“

“Your daughter, Alexia Maria Evans,” Alexia broke in.

Max’s jaw dropped as he stared at the beautiful little girl that he helped create.

Alexia could tell that her father was unable to speak so she asked, “Daddy, can I hug you?”

Max blinked his tears away and drew his little girl into a hug.

As he held Alexia, he looked at Liz and asked, “How? Why?”

Liz smiled sadly and replied, “I don’t know. I know we used protection, but its not always full proof. As for why, I know I should have told you, but I was so lost and confused. I told you in that note why I left, and I just couldn’t return. I’m sorry you missed seeing Alexia grow up, but I plan on having you in both our lives from now on.”

Max nodded and stood up. While holding Alexia’s hand, he leaned over and kissed Liz. It was breathtaking. All of their pain, joy and sorrow mixed together, but was overcome with love. When they broke the kiss, Liz noticed Kyle and Isabel practically bouncing up and down while waiting to greet her.

“Hey you two!” she exclaimed.

“Hey yourself, kiddo. We’ve been looking forward to your return,” Kyle said as he hugged her.

“Sis, I’ve missed you so much,” said Isabel when it was her turn.

Liz cocked an eyebrow. “Sis?”

“Yeah, sis, as in sister-in-law. Come hell or high water, you and my brother will get married. Now, where’s my niece?”

Liz looked around the room at her long lost friends and smiled genuinely for the first time in six years.

“They’re here,” Serena called as Alex stepped into the house.

“How do you know?”

“Alexia paged me just before they landed. They should be at the Crashdown right now.”

“Shit! Can it get any worse?” Alex cried.

“Uh, yeah, it could,” replied Serena.

“Max and Liz have gotten back together.”

“How do you know?”

Serena pointed to the glowing stone that sat on top of the TV.

“Crap, I thought that maybe we could escape before Liz found us, but now we have to approach all four of them. I can’t face them, especially Isabel. Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!” Alex shrieked.
“Get a hold of yourself man!” Serena yelled. When he’d calmed down, she said, “Look, it won’t be that bad. After we explain everything, I’m sure they’ll understand.”

“Maybe, but I don’t look forward to explaining about Alexia. Max and Liz are going to freak,” Alex mumbled.

Serena sighed. “Yeah, you have a point.”

“So, when should we make contact?”

Serena closed her eyes and shuddered as she felt a familiar presence coming closer. Finally, she opened her eyes.

“Tomorrow, before it’s too late.”

part 5

March 23, 2005

“Mommy, who that?” three year old Alexia asked Liz as she peered at the picture of Alex that rested on the mantle above the fireplace.

Liz glanced at the picture and smiled sadly. “That’s your Uncle Alex. He was my best friend and he would have adored you.”

“Where is he?” Alexia inquired.

Liz brushed her tears aside and replied, “He’s in heaven, with all of the other angels. You see, he always was an angel and now he’s resting peacefully at home.”

Liz studied the picture a moment longer and turned her attention back to her computer. Alexia frowned and picked up the picture and ran softly back to her room with it.

“Somehow, I don’t think you’re dead,” she said to the picture.

She closed her eyes and touched the picture, not at all surprise when it rippled under her touch. Alexia was brought into an outlandish restaurant that was decorated with an alien theme. Her eyebrows raised as she caught sight of one of the uniforms the waitresses were required to wear. She continued to look around until she saw younger versions of Alex, her mother, and five of their friends sitting at the back booth. Alexia was intrigued and walked over to listen to them. Suddenly, Alex looked up and locked eyes with Alexia.

“Who are you? Why are you dream walking me?” he asked, trying not to sound harsh since Alexia was a child.

Alexia grinned. “My name is Alexia Maria Evans. I’m dream walking you because Mommy said that you were dead, but I knew that you weren’t. I could just feel it.”

“Evans? Are you Max’s daughter?” a bewildered Alex asked.

“I think that’s his name. I’ve never met him, though. I live with my mother and have never met any of her old friends and I know she hasn’t talked to them in four or five years.”

“Is your mother Liz?”

Alexia nodded.

“How old are you? You look like you’re only three or four, but you’re way too smart to be that young.”

“I’m three. I turned three on February 8th.”

Alex stared at her in wonder. “No way! You’re definitely Max and Liz’s kid, then. Why haven’t you ever met your father?”

Alexia told him what she knew and filled him in on what was going on in Liz’s life. Alex was shocked to hear that Liz was a FBI agent. Finally, Alex told Alexia that it was time to wake and not to tell Liz about it because it would only put them both in danger. Alexia promised to not to tell and Alex gave her his phone number that was only to be used in an otherworldly type emergency.

Alexia woke up and sighed. ‘I hate keeping secrets from Mommy,’ she thought with a frown.

In New York, Alex shot up in bed and tried to think of what to do. Without much thought, he ran into his best friend Serena Guerin’s room, yelling for her to wake up.

The beautiful blonde warrior opened her eyes wide enough to see Alex and mumbled, “This had better be good, Whitman, or I will kick your ass all the way back to Roswell.”

“The King and Queen’s daughter just dream walked me,” Alex murmured.

“What?! Since when did Liz and Max get back together?” Serena screeched, now fully awake.

Alex sighed and sat down on the edge of Serena’s king size waterbed. “Liz and Max slept together the night Tess left and that’s when Alexia was conceived. Liz freaked about something and left Roswell. She hasn’t had contact with anyone from her past, including her parents. Alexia saw a picture of me and instinctively knew that I was alive and dream walked me. She’s very powerful, especially for a three year old.”

Serena’s eyes widened in fear for the first time ever. “Alex, we have to keep Liz and Max apart until Alexia turns six. Only then will her powers be strong enough to fight Khivar. How are we going to do that and not expose ourselves?”

“Remind me again why it’s important that we keep them apart.”

“Because, Khivar can sense that Alexia is in America, but her signal isn’t strong enough for him to pinpoint even her general location. The same goes for Max and Liz, though Khivar knows where Max is. When they’re together, however, their signal is strong enough for Khivar to sense their location within several miles. We cannot lose the royal family, they are our only hope.”

“Don’t you think I know that, Serena? My God, I gave up everything to save them. If I ever meet up with them again, do you have any idea how freaked they’ll be? I can never have back what I lost, so Liz, Max and Alexia are gonna stay safe, God damnit!” Alex said with conviction.

Serena grinned and shook her head at the hyperactive boy at the foot of her bed. “Well, now that that’s decided, may I puh-leeze go back to sleep?”

Alex nodded absently and left the room. Serena could not get back to sleep to save her life. Her mind lingered on the feeling inside her that she’d never felt before: fear. She feared Khivar and she feared for the fate of Antar and Earth. Those fears chilled her to the bone, but what she feared most was herself when she eventually came face-to-face with Khivar.

part 6

How can I just let you walk away
Just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath with you
You're the only one who really knew me at all

How can you just walk away from me
When all I can do is watch you leave
'Cause we shared the laughter and the pain
And even shared the tears
You're the only one who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now
'Cause there's just an empty space
There's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face

So take a look at me now
When there's just an empty space
And you're comin' back to me is against all odds
And that's what I've got to face

I wish I could just make you turn around
Turn around to see me cry
There's so much I need to say to you
So many reasons why
You're the only one who really knew me at all

Take a good look at me now
'Cause I'll be standing here
And you're comin' back to me
Is against all odds
It's the chance I've gotta
Hey yeah

Take a look at me now

Evans Household

“I can’t believe you’re really here,” Max said for the millionth time that night.

Liz gazed into his beautiful eyes and murmured, “Neither can I.”

“Why did you stay away for so long?” he asked with hurt in his eyes.

“I don’t know,” she sighed. “I met Dana and Mulder and they became such great friends. I even moved in with them after Alexia was born. They helped me with my job, and I was still so hurt by the Tess ordeal that I couldn’t bring myself to come back.”

“You haven’t talked about what you’ve been doing for a living. Are you a scientist now?”

The agent hesitated and looked anywhere but at Max. “No. I’m actually a, um, FBIagent,” she spat out.

“A what?” Max asked while the color drained from his face.

“I’m an FBI agent, as are Dana and Mulder,” Liz admitted.

“How could you after all that they did to us, to me?”

“Can’t we talk about this later? Besides, I have never been involved with cases dealing with aliens, at least not until now,” she muttered under her breath.

Max eyed her suspiciously. “No, this can’t wait. What do you mean?”

“You cannot tell anyone, understand?” Max nodded. “Read this.”

Liz watched Max’s face as he read the file. Several emotions danced across it: surprise, confusion, anger and finally, fear.

“Alex is alive? How is that possible?”

Liz shrugged. “I don’t know; that’s all they gave me.”

“And who’s this Serena Guerin? Do you think she’s the person the future me spoke of?”

“That’s what I was thinking. Did you see their address?”

“Yeah, I can’t believe they live two streets over from me. How could I not notice them? This is so weird.”

“What’s weird?” Alexia asked, joining her parents in her father’s room.

Max instinctively picked her up and placed her in his lap, holding her close. Liz studied the father and daughter and smiled. ‘They are so cute together. Its almost like they’ve always been together.’

“Hello? What’s weird?” Alexia repeated.
“Oh, nothing sweetie. Just something Mommy and Daddy were discussing,” Max said.

“Does it have something to do with Uncle Alex?”

Max and Liz stared at their daughter with wide eyes.

“How did you know?”

“When you passed out yesterday you had a file with his name and picture on it. I thought it was strange since he’s dead,” she said smoothly. ‘Oh yeah, I’m good.’

“Oh, yeah. That’s right. We were talking about Alex,” Liz stuttered.

“Is he alive or something?” Alexia asked innocently.

Max paled and said, “We think he might be, but we’re not sure.”

Alexia nodded. “Well, I’m just gonna give you two some more alone time. I’ll, uh, be in Aunt Isabel’s room.”

With that, she skipped out the door, closing it behind her.

Max shook his head. “How did she get so smart?” he asked in awe.

“I have no clue.”

“How exactly are we going to tell them? We can’t just walk up and expect everything to be peachy,” Alex said.

“No shit, Sherlock. I think we should approach Liz first since she knows you’re alive and you were her best friend. She’ll probably be the most reasonable.”

“Yeah. Hold that thought!” Alex said as the phone rang.

“Hi Uncle Alex!”

“Hey Alexia, what’s up?”

“I just thought you should know that Daddy knows about you too. He and Mommy were just discussing it.”

Alex sighed. “Great. How’d he take it?”

“Well, he got really pale. They both looked pretty spooked. You need to approach them soon.”

“Yeah, more than you know. Where are you now?”

“The three of us are at Daddy’s. Aunt Isabel just left to pick up dinner.”

“Okay. I think I’m just going to come over. The sooner we get everything sorted out, the better.”

“You’re coming over now?” Alexia asked incredulously.

“You have balls, man.”

“Excuse me? Did you tell me that I have balls?” a bewildered Alex asked. Serena glanced up from her Vogue to stare at him in horror.

“Yeah, what about it?”

“Never mind, we’ll discuss it later. I see you in a few minutes, okay?”

“Okie dokie. Bye.”

Alex hung up the phone.

“Well, that sounded interesting. Are you sure you’re ready to go over there?” Serena asked.

“As ready as I’ll ever be. Let’s go.”

The two climbed into Serena’s BMW and drove to their King’s home.

“Brace yourself, its gonna be a bumpy ride,” Alex mumbled and rang the doorbell.

“We can’t just go over to their house and ring the doorbell, ya know,” Max said as he and Liz debated on how to handle the Alex situation.

“I know. I don’t have a clue as to what to do!” Liz groaned.

All of a sudden, the doorbell rang.

“Who could that be? No one around here rings the doorbell anymore.”

“Mom! Dad! Door!” Alexia yelled from Isabel’s room.

“Thanks, sweetie. We heard it,” Max called back.

The two weary parents walked downstairs and opened the door.

“Oh my God!” they exclaimed in unison.

“Hey guys. Wassup!” Alex said cheerily.

July 7, 2007
Outside the Evans’ house, several minutes before Alex’s entrance

Dana looked at her watch and sighed.

“Why are we staking out Max Evans’ house again?” she moaned.

“Because he lives two streets over from this Whitman guy, he’s Alexia’s father, he was mentioned in Whitman’s obituary and there’s one or two weird FBI files he’s mentioned it,” Mulder replied.

“And your point would be…?”

“Don’t you get it?” Dana shook her head. “Liz and Max both knew Whitman, as did Max’s sister, Kyle Valenti, and the Guerins. Whitman was also quite close to Kyle’s father, the Sheriff. These people are definitely hiding something.”

“Mulder, you’re jumping to conclusions. Those poor kids all think the boy is dead. Liz probably got the shock of her life when she read that file.”

“I doubt that,” Mulder mumbled and crossed his arms.

Dana rolled her eyes and glanced up and she heard a car approach. When Alex and Serena climbed out of the convertible, she sighed.

“I hate it when you’re right,” she muttered to Mulder.

“Look who just arrived.”

“I knew it! I’m gonna turn on Liz’s bug now.”

“You bugged my best friend?” Dana asked in horror.

Mulder shrugged and put his finger to his lips.

“Hey guys! Wassup!” Alex said cheerily.

“Holy shit!” Max exclaimed.

“Alex? Are you real? I mean, you’re the real Alex, right?” Liz asked.

“Yeah, Liz, I am. Uh, can we come inside? I kinda feel weird standing here in the doorway.”

“Oh, yeah, of course,” Max stammered.

“This is a really nice place you got here,” Serena said approvingly.

“Um, thanks.”

Max and Liz stared at the blonde dressed in painfully high black stiletto heels, tight black leather pants and light yellow spaghetti strap top.

Serena caught them staring at her and stuck out her hand. “Serena Guerin. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you both.”

Max and Liz shook her hand and sat down on the couch.

“What’s going on Alex? I don’t understand this. You’re supposed to be dead,” Liz said.

“Yeah, well, so are you.” Max and Liz looked at him in shock. “I guess I’d better start from the beginning.”

“Yeah, that might be nice,” grumbled Max.

Serena squeezed Alex’s hand and he began. “Okay, Max knows about Future Max, right?” Max flinched and nodded. “Good. Well, about a week before I supposedly died, Future Serena appeared to me. She told me about my death and that we had to do something to stop it. Apparently, my death tore everyone apart. You two stopped speaking, Max slept with Tess, etc.

Anyways, Serena was from ten years in the future. Zane, Max and Tess’ kid, returned to Earth and was one evil little bastard. With his army, he killed Maria, Michael, Izzy, Kyle, and you two. Serena was badly injured when she arrived and had barely escaped Zane. That bitch Tess had turned the poor kid into a killing machine at the age on ten. Serena knew all about me and figured that I was her only hope.

The first thing she did was heel all the damage that Tess had done, which changed me like you and Kyle, Liz. She told me her story and that we had to prevent my death. She also told me how Liz was the true Queen because Max had given her some sort of pendant and that when the two of you were together, you sent off some sort of signal that allowed Khivar to track you down. When she told me that, I knew that I still had to die to keep you two apart. We eventually devised an insane plan.

The night I was supposed to die, Serena broke into Kyle’s house. She then mind warped Tess and Kyle into thinking that I was there and that Tess killed me, etc. When it came time for Max and Tess to do the nasty, Serena stepped in again. She knocked Max out and mind warped Rath and Tess into sleeping with each other. That way Tess would really be pregnant. Then she got rid of Rath and replaced him with Max right before everyone woke up. That’s why Max only remembered waking up next to her. After that, we just let things take its course.”

“Oh my God, Alex. I can’t believe you did all that,” Liz murmured.

“Damn it! I could have killed her when I had the chance since she wasn’t carrying my kid,” Max hollered.

Alex smiled. “You still wouldn’t have killed her. Besides, she’s dead now so it doesn’t matter.”

Serena laughed at the look of twisted delight on Liz’s face. “Yeah, Khivar got pissed at her and killed her not too long ago.”

“I have a question. Max and I, uh, made love a while back and afterward I saw flashes of him and Tess together.”

Alex winced and Serena glared at him. It was apparent that that subject was not a happy one between the two of them.

“Well, that was me,” Alex said quietly.

“What?!” Max and Liz exploded.

“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you!” Liz shrieked.

“I had to keep you two apart! Khivar would have found you and killed you! I didn’t want to do it, but I had to figure out a way to keep the two of you apart.”

“Well, thanks Alex. Because of that, I missed seeing my daughter grow up for the first five years of her life!”

“I know, I’m sorry,” Alex muttered.

“Wait, how did you know about Alexia?” Liz asked.

Serena and Alex looked at each other, but before they could answer Alexia appeared at the foot of the stairs.

“Aunt Serena! Uncle Alex!” she exclaimed as she launched herself at them.

“Hey sweetie! You’re getting so big!” Serena gushed.

“What the hell? How do you two know Alexia?” Max nearly shrieked.

“I dream walked them,” Alexia stated simply.

Anything Max and Liz were going to say was cut off by a scream behind them.

“Oh my God, Alex,” Isabel said before she passed out.

“I swear Alex, what is it with you and your friends and fainting?” Serena mumbled.

Alex glared at his best friend and dropped to the floor beside Isabel.

“It’s going to be a long night,” he sighed.

Meanwhile, Mulder and Dana sat outside in their car, completely stunned.

Still July 7, 2007

“Yo, Zan! Quit your pacin’. You’re drivin’ me up a freakin’ wall,” Ava wailed.

“Sorry. I’m just worried about Serena, ya know? First she was really nervous, and then she was fine. Now she’s really tense and a little worried. Damnit! I hate being away from her!” Zan yelled.

Ava rolled her eyes at her friend and sighed. “Ya know, I’m more grateful every day that ‘Rena took you off my hands. You’re such a whiner.”

“Took me off your hands?” Zan repeated.

“Yeah. I knows we were meant to be and all, but I’m much better off without ya. You’re so freakin’ pathetic, just like Max. Plus, I sure as hell wouldn’t want ya worryin’ over me like this.”

“What makes you think I’d worry about you?”

Ava was about to rip Zan a new one until she saw the twinkle in his eyes.

Zan laughed and continued to push. “Besides, you never would have taught me correct grammar.”

“Excuse me? Are you insultin’ the way I talk? You only use ‘correct grammar’ when in the presence of your little queen, and ya still screw up sometimes.”

Zan narrowed his eyes and mumbled, “Yeah, well, oh never mind. I can’t believe we’re fighting over grammar.”

Ava giggled. “Neither can I. Oh well.”

Zan sighed and slumped onto the couch that was formally his fiancé’s. He tried to think of something to busy himself with, but was pulled from his thoughts by the phone.

“Yo!” Ava said. “Hey Serena…Yeah, hang on a sec. Yo, Zan! Its your fiancé!”

Zan’s eyes lit up as he grabbed the phone. “Serena?”

“Hey baby. How are things in the Big Apple?”

“Fine, fine. What’s going on there? You’re all nervous and shit.”

Serena gave a tired laugh. “Yeah, I’m just worried about Isabel, that’s all.”

“What happened?”

“She saw Alex and passed out. I’m worried about how she’s gonna deal with it, but Alexia says that I should be more worried about Maria’s reaction.”

Zan grinned. “From what Ava’s told me, that sounds about right. How did Max and Liz take it?”

“I think they’re mostly focused on the fact that Alexia knows Alex and me and that Alex was the one who gave Liz those awful flashes.”

“Damn, Alex is lucky they didn’t kill him.”

“Tell me about it. They both exploded and I could tell that her highness was ready to snap Alex’s neck. Oh well. I also don’t look forward to telling them about you.”

“Yeah, I’m another person back from the dead,” Zan muttered.

“Zan, do you think you and Ava could get Frankie to fly you out here tonight?”

“Sure babe, but why?”

“Well, there’s a reason we came to Max and Liz tonight. Zan, Khivar is on his way to Earth.”

“Zan? Are you okay?”

“Oh, sorry Serena. Are you sure?”

“Zan, he’s my father, of course I’m sure.”

“Right. Oh God, he’s gonna go after the Royal family, isn’t he?” Zan groaned.

“Well, duh. Max, Liz and Alexia are second on his little list of people to kill. Only Alex and I are above them, but that’s only because he know he’ll have to kill us to get to the other them.”

“I agree that its safest if we’re all together. I’ll call Frankie right now.”

“Okay. I’ll see you in a few hours then. I love you Zan.”

“And I adore you, Serena. Stay safe.”

“I will. Bye, love.”

“Bye,” Zan whispered as he hung up the phone.

“Ava!” he called.

“What?” she asked, entering Serena’s old bedroom.

“Pack your things, we’re going to Roswell.”

“Oh goody,” she grumbled.

Serena returned from her trip to the bathroom just in time to see Isabel wake up.

“Hey Izzy, are you okay?” Alex asked with concern.

“Alex? Are you really here?” she asked with tears in her eyes.

“Yeah, baby, I am.”

“How? You’re dead.”

“It’s a long story and I’ll tell you when I tell Maria, Michael and Kyle, okay?”

Isabel nodded and threw her arms around Alex. “Can you just hold me forever?”

Alex smiled. “Of course, Iz.”

“Guys, I really hate to interrupt, but you have some phone calls to make and I need to speak to Alex privately,” Serena said.

Isabel glanced up at her. “Who are you?”

“Serena Guerin. I came here with Alex.”

“Are you Michael’s sister?”

“We’ll talk about that later. Alex, now!”

“Okay. Iz, I’ll be in the study, okay?”

Serena followed Alex into the study and closed the door.

“Did you talk to Zan?”

“Yeah, he and Ava are getting Frankie to fly them over here. Alex, I’m worried.”

“About what? Maria killing us?”

“I wish. How are Michael and the others gonna react when they find out that he and I are Khivar’s kids?”

“I don’t know Serena, I just don’t know.”

“God, I hate that man so much! I can’t believe I came from him. I feel like friggin’ Princess Leia and Michael’s Luke Skywalker.”

“Does that make Zan Han Solo?”

“Alex!” Serena shrieked. “Now is not the time to be making jokes!”

“Sorry. C’mon, let’s get back to the others.”

“Lead the way, Chewbacca.”

part 9

July 7, 2007
Outside Evans’ residence

The married couple had sat in silence for half an hour now. Finally, Mulder broke the silence.

“Did we really just hear all of that?”

“Were they serious?”

“They were talking about aliens and time travel and all that stuff, right?”

“Dana turned to her husband. “The question is, do you believe them?”

Mulder’s eyes widened in surprise. “Of course I believe them! They were dead serious and I knew something was going on. That stuff I found on Liz and that Alex guy was weird. Why? You believe them, right?”

“I want to, but aliens? I know that they believe what they were sating, but I’m not so sure I do. Besides, there’s a lot we don’t know. Just turn off the bug and let’s go get some rest and digest all of this. We’re going to eventually have to talk to Liz about this and she can fill in the blanks.”

“No! We’re not going to spy on my best friend anymore! Turn the damn thing off and go!” Dana shrieked.

“Fine, but I’m going to get my answers,” Mulder pouted.

“Whatever!” Dana muttered and rolled her eyes.

Guerin residence

“Why do you think Max wants us over there?” Maria asked.

Michael shrugged. “Hell if I know, but I don’t think it has anything to do with Liz. His voice sounds a certain way when he’s talking about her. He sounded a bit dazed.”

“Alexia then?”

“Possibly, but I think there’ something more. I heard a girl’s voice in the background that I didn’t recognize.”

“Really?” Maria furrowed her brow. “What was she saying?”

“Something about how this guy was Chewbacca because he was tall, hairy and obnoxious.”

“That’s what she said. I heard Isabel and Liz laugh, so I guess we’re the only ones out of the loop.”

“Yeah, us and Kyle. Did Max say anything about him coming?”

“I think so. C’mon, let’s get over there. Alex! Beth! Go get in the car!”

The twins came flying through the living room and ran out the front door. Michael shook his head and joined his family in their white minivan.

As they pulled into the driveway, Michael turned to his children and said, “When we get inside, go with Alexia and play quietly in Isabel’s room, okay?”

“Okay Daddy!” Alex and Beth chimed.

The family climbed out of the car and met Kyle and Jim on their way in.

“Hey guys. Do you know what they wanted to talk to us about?” Kyle asked.

“Not a clue,” Maria replied.

Before they even reached the door, Alexia threw it open.

“Hi Alex! Hi Beth! Let’s go play!”

The three giggled and ran up the stairs before the adults had even entered the house.

“Hi everyone,” Max said as he greeted them at the door. “Before you go into the living room, I just want to warn you that there’s two people in there. One you will be surprised to see and the other you won’t know. Do not freak out, okay?”

“Okay, Maxwell,” Michael said, giving his best friend a wary glance.

The group entered the room and saw Liz, Isabel and Serena seated on the couch.

Maria frowned. “I don’t get-Oh sweet Jesus!” she screamed as Alex stepped forward from back corner of the room.

Michael, Kyle and Jim stared at Alex with dropped jaws while Maria started pacing the room.

“Oh my God, my pregnancy is making me delusional. I’m seeing dead people. I’m not freaking Haley Joel Osment so I shouldn’t see them. Oh Lord, you did this to me!” she shrieked, turning to her husband.

“Wh-what? What the hell are you talking about?”

“You’re alien sperm is making me delusional!”

“Maria, I’m really here,” Alex said quietly.

“No, you’re not. Tess killed you six years ago. We were all at your funeral; we all heard the damn gerbil confess! Don’t you understand that you’re dead? Stop haunting us! You’re going to make me go insane. No, I already am.”

“Maria, I’m not a ghost. I’m real, I never died.”

“Yes you did!” Maria screamed through her tears. “You died and our world fell apart. The group was basically divided between humans and aliens and everything went to hell. Max and Liz went to war against each other, Isabel totally lost it, Max slept with your murderer and got her pregnant, and they almost left the planet with her. Then Liz split and we went crazy for six years because we couldn’t find her. You had to have died, otherwise all of that pain was totally avoidable.”

By this time Maria had slumped to the floor and was shaking uncontrollably. Alex walked to her and knelt in front of her.

“Maria, I had to fake it to protect everyone, especially Liz and Max,” he said softly.

“So you’re really here?” she asked in a small voice.

“Yeah, I am.”

“Oh God, Alex!” she cried as she threw herself into his arms.

After a few minutes, Alex helped Maria up and turned to the other newcomers.

“Hey boys.”

The guys grinned and each gave him a tight hug, thankful was alive.

Michael turned to Serena. “If Alex was the one we weren’t expecting, that makes you the one we don’t know. So, who are you?” he asked bluntly.

Serena smiled nervously. “My name is Serena Guerin.”

“You’re my sister, aren’t you?” Michael asked with a small smile.

“Yeah. I’m also…” Serena trailed off and looked at Alex.

“Might as well. They all need to know,” he said.

She nodded and continued. “I’m also…we’re also…Khivar’s children.”

Silence filled the room as everyone turned to look at Michael.

Michael blinked a few times and Maria’s heart broke when he slid down the wall with his head in his hands, crying.

“He’s coming, isn’t he?” Michael asked without looking up.

All Serena could do was nod.

Michael didn’t need to see it, he already knew the answer.

“I know. I’ve know for weeks,” he mumbled.

This time they turned to look at him in shock.

part 10

“What?” Serena demanded, her temper flaring.

Alex laid a calming hand on her shoulder and shook his head.

Michael sighed and looked up at the shocked faces that surrounded him.

“Two or three weeks ago I started having this dream about my father and sister returning. I don’t remember images, but I know that my sister was terrified of him and wanted me to stay away from him. I got the feeling that he was evil, too. I just dismissed it as being weird until now. He’s really close, isn’t he?”

“God, Michael. Why didn’t you tell me?” Maria asked with hurt in her voice.

“Oh no, no fights right now. We need to get Alex, Max, Liz and Alexia to a safe place. At least as safe as we can get.”

Liz raised an eyebrow. “Why us?”

This time Serena raised an eyebrow. “Because you’re the royal family.”

“Huh? How the hell are Liz and Alex royal?” Maria asked.

Serena got a confused look on her face that was quickly replaced with one of realization.

“Oh yeah, you guys don’t know,” she said.

“Don’t know what?” Michael asked his sister.

“Well, I’m afraid you guys got the Royal Four a bit mixed up. Liz is actually Ariana, Zan’s wife and Queen of Antar. Alex is Brek, Zan’s second in command and Vilandra’s fiancé. Michael is Rath, Zan and Brek’s best friend; and Tess was Ava, Ari’s younger sister who had the hots for Zan and my father. Ew.”

“Why were two sets of Rath and Ava sent then?” a bewildered Liz asked.

“Khivar found out and put them in Ariana and Brek’s places. Fortunately, I was able to save your pods, but I had to make some modifications. I made you fully human and disabled your powers until you formed a true connection with one of the other royals or myself. Max gave Liz her powers back when he healed her, and my future self connected with Alex so he’d believe me.”

“Where does that leave me? Why isn’t Khivar after me?” Isabel asked.

Alex looked at his feet. “Because we convinced him that you were the same Vilandra he knew and that he wouldn’t have to worry about you not handing over Antar after Max, Liz, Alexia and I were dead.”

“You what?”

“We had to do something to protect you. Don’t blame us, it was Alexia’s idea.”

Max and Liz stared at Alex and Serena.

“Just how long have you been communicating with her? What all has she seen?” Max demanded.

Serena swallowed and sat down on the couch.

“She first contacted Alex two years ago by dream walking him. He woke and told me. We’ve kept in contact with her since then. We visit her dreams every night and talk to her on the phone sometimes. This is only the second time we’ve seen her in person.”

Max glared daggers. “When was the first time?”

“A year ago when Liz came to New York. Serena, Ava, Zan and I were eating at this deli when they walked by. Alexia smiled and waved, but she knew better than to approach us,” Alex said.

“Wait, Zan and Ava?” Kyle asked.

“Yeah, they’re friends of ours. They’re on their way here now. I know you guys thought Zan was dead, but that was also a set up.”

Serena’s cell phone rang.

“Hang on a sec and don’t kill each other!” she called as she left the room.

“Serena, my favorite little backstabber.”

“What do you want, Nicholas?”

“Well, besides you, I just wanted to let you know that your father is very close.”

“No shit. Why the hell are you telling me this anyway?”

“No reason. See you around, doll.”

“What the hell?” Serena mumbled as she walked back into the living room.

“What’s up?” Alex asked.

“Nicholas. He’s acting so weird.”

“Weirder than normal?”

“Yeah, he just told me that Khivar was on his way here.”

“You’re right, that is weird. He’s up to something.”

“Ya think?”

“Enough! Jesus, you two are like an old married couple,” Michael muttered.

“Sorry. You should see Ava and Alex; they’re way worse. They fight 24/7 whenever we’re all together. Its funny as hell.”

“I’m sure,” Isabel said.

“Mom! Your cell phone is ringing!” Alexia called downstairs.

Liz ran to the top of the stairs and took the phone from her.

“Thanks sweetie.”

Liz walked back downstairs.

“Ah, Agent Parker. I’m glad I’ve finally gotten a hold of you.”

“Oh, uh, hello Agent Skinner. What can I do for you?”

“Well, I was just wondering what the HELL the three of you are doing in Roswell?”

Liz winced.

“Didn’t Mulder tell you? We’re investigating an X-File. We might be out here for a while.”

“And you expect me to just accept that?”

“Yes, sir, I do. Talk to you later, sir.”

“You’re an FBI agent?!” Michael shrieked.

Liz groaned.

“Here we go again,” she grumbled.

part 11

“Where is she?” Mulder asked for the millionth time.

Dana rolled her eyes.

“Once again, honey, I’m sure she’s still over at Max’s. They all seem to have a lot to discuss.”

“Well I can’t take waiting for her anymore! I’m turning the bug back on.”

“Fine, if it will make you shut up!”

Mulder flipped the switch on.

“An FBI agent? What the hell were you thinking?” Michael ranted.

“I was good at it, okay Michael? Besides, I was never involved with alien investigations until this case.”

“Are your two little friends Feds too?”

“Yes, got a problem with it?”

“Of course not, your Majesty,” Michael replied superciliously.

“Okay, stop it. God, you’re worse than you originally were and I didn’t think that was possible,” Serena muttered.

“Yeah, they’re almost as bad as Alex and Ava,” a deep and familiar voice said from the doorway.

Serena didn’t even think—she shot out of her seat and threw herself into Zan’s arms. They held each other a moment before Zan pulled back to give Serena a kiss that put Max and Liz to shame.

“Knock it off! I don’t wanna see you two do the nasty right here!” Ava cried, covering her face.

Zan and Serena turned bright red and glared at their friend.

“Give us a break, Ava. We’re desperately in love, remember?” Serena begged.

Ava grinned.

“I know. I was just givin’ yous a hard time. Sorry.”

“Yeah right. You’re never sorry Ava, just **sorry**,” Alex piped in.

The punk whirled around with her hands on her hips.

“What was that, Whitwoman?”

“Nothing, reject.”

“Reject? Reject? That’s it, Alice, I’m gonna whoop your skinny white ass!” Ava said as she pounced on Alex and began to beat him.

“Take that, second best!”

“You little bitch!” Alex yelped as he struggled to get the pink haired girl off of him. By this time Zan and Serena were rolling on the floor with laughter while the others looked on in horror.

“Stop it!” Max yelled over the commotion.

Ava froze with her fist halfway to Alex’s face and Alex froze with a handful of her hair in his grasp, ready to pull it out.

“What’s your problem?” Michael asked with an amused expression on his face.

“We always fight like this. Sorry, we forgot that you guys aren’t used to that,” Alex said apologetically.

“So, Zan, what’s the deal with you and Serena?” Kyle asked.

“We’re engaged,” Serena answered for her fiancé,

“Um, Rena? Who is who?” Zan whispered in her ear.

“Oh! Well, this is Max and Isabel Evans, Liz Parker, Michael and Maria Guerin, and Kyle and Jim Valenti.”

Zan looked around at all of the people who seemed to be studying him and got very uncomfortable.

“Sorry, you just look so much like, only not. We also thought you were dead,” Max replied.

“Yeah, well, blame your daughter.”

“What?!” was the resounding response from everyone but the New Yorkers.

“A day or so before Lonnie and Rath were supposed to kill me, a future Alexia showed up and told me that I had to prevent that. Serena and I were already friends so I called her and asked her to mind warp them into thinking I was dead.”

“What’s with all the future people? This is getting a little out of hand,” Jim mumbled.

Michael glanced at his watch and then at his sister.

“Well, Serena, you have anymore surprises for us or can we go home and get some rest? It’s getting late.”

“That’s it for now and you’re right—we all need some sleep. How ‘bout we meet at the Crashdown tomorrow at noon?”

The group agreed and headed for their cars, leaving only Max, Liz, Isabel and Alexia behind.

“God, I so do not want to see Dana or Mulder right now. Mulder’s going to be so full of questions,” Liz groaned.

Max looked at his feet.

“Yeah, but they’ll have even more if you and Alexia don’t return to the hotel.”

“Okay. We’ll see you two tomorrow, then. Bye Iz, goodnight Max,” Liz whispered.

Max leaned down to give Alexia a hug and a kiss on the forehead, and then proceeded to do the same to Liz.

“Goodnight, my girls,” he said softly.

Liz smiled and walked hand in hand with Alexia to her rental car. ‘Maybe there’s hope after all,’ she thought with a grin. If only the path wasn’t going to be so difficult.

part 12

“Where have you been?” Mulder exploded as Liz walked into their suite.

Liz sighed.

“Hang on, let me put Alexia to bed first.”

Dana nodded and dragged her husband onto the couch.

“Jesus, Mulder, what happened to being subtle?”

Mulder glared.

“I dunno, Scully, maybe the fact that one of my best friends who lived with me for a year is an alien is starting to get to me!”

Liz stood frozen on the other side of the door. ‘Holy shit, they know. How? A bug.’ Liz frantically began to search through her stuff until she found the bug Mulder planted in her purse.

“Fuck me,” she muttered.

“Mommy!” Alexia admonished.

“Mommy didn’t say that.”

“Yes you did.”

Liz groaned and put her head in her hands.

“What are we going to do, Alexia? Dana and Mulder know.”

“So? Will’s known for two years and he hasn’t freaked.”

Her mother whirled around.

“Will knows? Since when?”

“Since he fell off the monkey bars and cracked his open when we were three.”

“You healed him?” Liz asked in awe.

Alexia nodded.

“What else can you do?”

“Dream walk, connect with people, move things with my mind, scan text and images into my brain, you know, the usual.”

Liz stared at her daughter, dumbfounded.

“How long have you been using them?”

“Since I was three and accidentally dream walked Daddy. Look, Mommy, you better go talk to Aunt Dana and Uncle Fox before they freak out even more.”

Liz nodded and left the room.

“Since when do I take advice from my five year old?” she muttered to herself.

Dana and Mulder looked up as Liz re-entered the living room.

“About damn time,” Mulder mumbled.

Liz glared and sat down on a chair opposite the couple.

“What’s up?” she asked sweetly.

Dana shot Mulder a warning look and said, “Nothing. We were just worried about you and Alexia since you were gone for so long. How did it go with Max?”

“Fine, we’re just trying to work out some of our issues. You know, Alexia, my disappearance, our powers, destiny, evil aliens, our future together, that sort of stuff.”

Dana and Mulder gaped at her.

“What?” Liz asked innocently.

“How did you know?”

“Gee, Mulder, the bug was a bit of a clue.”

“Oh. So, um, aliens, huh?” Mulder had no idea was he was so nervous all of a sudden.

“What do you know?”

Dana drew a deep breath.

“Well, we know that some evil guys is after you and your family, your friend Alex isn’t dead, time travel is possible, and oh yeah: ALIENS FRICKIN EXIST!”

Liz and Mulder stared at her in shock and said, “Whoa,” in unison.

“How long you been holding that in?” Mulder asked.

“A while,” Dana said as she sat down. “So, what next?”

Liz grimaced. “We sleep, then you meet the gang at the Crashdown tomorrow and pray they don’t flip too much.”

“Great, we have potentially pissed aliens to deal with now,” Mulder muttered.

“Who said anything about potentially? I’m fucking pissed,” Liz shot back as she went back into her room.

“Smooth move,” Dana mumbled.

part 13

“Chill, baby, it’s going to be okay.”

“No, it won’t! He’s gonna kill us then, then he’ll use the Granilith to destroy the universe!” Serena shrieked in hysteria.

Zan rolled his eyes.

“Sweetie, I highly doubt he’ll get that far. I’m not going to let him harm you in anyway, I swear. I won’t even let him get near you.”

“But I have to face him! I have to show him that I’m no longer afraid of him.”

“But you are afraid of him.”

“What’s your point?”

“You two are decent, right? I don’t wanna damage my virgin eyes,” Ava called from outside the bedroom.

“Virgin my ass,” Zan muttered.

Serena looked at him in shocked disgust.

“You pig.”

“What? Oh no, you don’t think—Serena, no.”

His fiancé turned and started walking out of the room.

“I wasn’t the one who deflowered her!”

Serena turned to glare at him.

“No! I didn’t mean it like that…I NEVER SLEPT WITH AVA, DAMNIT!”

Serena laughed.

“What’s so funny?” Zan asked, utterly confused.

“I knew that, I was just giving you a hard time.”

Zan’s jaw dropped.

“You little vixen.”

Ava pounded on the door.

“Hello? Did you two not hear me at all?”

The couple flung the door open and grinned at their friend.

“Sorry for the wait, Ava. Zan was just telling me about of your experience together.”

Ava and Zan’s eyes widened.

“You fuckin’ bastard! We was never together!” Ava screeched, beating Zan with her fists.

“I never said we was! Serena was just screwin’ with our heads.”

Alex laughed as he joined them.

“That’s my girl,” he said while putting an arm around Serena’s shoulders.

Zan glared.

“Hands off, Whitman.”

Serena raised an eyebrow while Alex held his hands up in defeat.

“Possessive much?” Serena asked.

“Old habit,” Zan grunted.

“Lose it.”

Zan nodded sheepishly and turned to Ava.

“What did you want?”

She blinked and seemed confused for a second.

“What? Oh. Nothing. I was just tryin’ to annoy yous.”

“I think you succeeded,” Alex said, steering her away from their royally pissed friends.

“So, Al, are you gonna get back with that Isabel chick?” Ava asked when they reached the living room.

Alex sighed and sank into his favorite chair.

“I don’t know; it’s all so complicated.”

“Complicated how?”

“Besides the fact that to her I’ve been dead for the past six years, we’ve both changed, grown up. We may even have feelings for other people.”

Ava leaned forward.

“Other people, huh? Care to name any?”

Alex gave a half smile and leaned forward in his chair.

“Nah, I’ll just give you a big hint.”

With that, Alex leaned forward and captured Ava’s lips with his. Ava sighed against his mouth and wrapped her arms around his neck. ‘Finally!’ she thought. The two fell onto the couch, oblivious to everything else around them.

“Oh my God!”

Serena’s scream woke Zan up and he ran into the living room, barely having time to put his boxers on.

“What? What’s wrong?” he asked frantically.

Serena nodded toward the couch, never once removing her hands from her eyes.

“I may not have virgin eyes, but I would like to be spared sights like that,” she mumbled as she ran back into her room.

Zan peered over the couch and saw a very naked Alex and Ava lying there. He immediately looked away.

“God, I did not need to see that,” he muttered to himself as he went back to Serena’s room.

Alex opened his eyes in time to see Zan’s retreating figure. His eyes widened and he looked down at Ava’s naked body and his own.

“Fuck me,” he said.

“That’s exactly what she did!” Zan called from the hall.

“We’re never going to hear the end of this,” he groaned to himself.

An awake Ava snorted.

“You got that right.”
