|Okay, I screwed around with this thread and deleted the whole thing. Bright of me huh. Anyway, I'm going to put the parts 1-6 up on the repost board soon.|
The Way I See It
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything. These characters are property of Fox, Jason K. UPN and all that.
Category: K/L – PG, eventually PG-13/R.
Summary: Kyle POV at some point past S2, telling you the way it happened…(after TEOTW things changed.
From Part 6:
As I was opening the door to my car, I heard her. “Kyle, wait up.” It was Liz.
“I really need to think right now Liz, you may have already known you were half alien. But damn it, it’s news to me.”
“We need to talk.”
“Later,” With that I jumped in my mustang and peeled out of the parking lot.
Part 7 A:
I must have driven around Roswell half the night. Ava’s words rang through my mind changed…different…not human anymore…not entirely alien. What was I gonna go? What could I do? The more I thought about it the more clear one thing became to me…if Evans hadn’t healed me I would have died that night. The only reason I’d been in that position in the first place was because he was a damned alien.
By the time I got home the clock was blinking 2:00 am. I had a splitting headache and needed to sleep in the worst way. When I walked in the door, Dad switched the light on.
“Where have you been son?” He asked me.
“Dad, I’ve been driving around town okay. I really don’t feel like talking about it right now.”
“Liz came by a while ago. She was worried about you. She filled me in on what happened, son. I’m sorry.”
“What else should we’ve expected Dad? I mean Gramps was convinced aliens existed, isn’t it fitting his grandson is one!” I smarted off sarcastically. “Look Dad, I’m sorry. It’s just been a really long night.”
“Get some sleep Kyle, and hopefully this will all look better in the morning.” Jim said.
That night I got very little sleep. I kept having this same dream over and over again. In the dream I was the little green Martian, and there were large, very ugly Klingons hunting me down. Needless to say I was up at dawn and headed out for a run.
Just as I passed the park, I saw a petite brunette running up ahead of me. After a few moments I realized it was Liz out running.
“Liz wait up,” I yelled. She turned and slowed up a moment.
“I was worried about you last night Kyle,” She said.
“Yeah, Dad said you came by and filled him in.”
By this time we were in front of the Crashdown and Liz’s run was over.
“Liz, can we talk after school?” I asked.
“I work until close tonight Kyle. If you want to come over about 9:30 we can talk after I get off.”
“Yeah, that sounds good,” I told her. I was anxious to talk to her about all we had learned, now that I’d had the time to cool off anyway.
The rest of the day at school zipped by, Max and Tess were back from New York. I know this because I saw the Pod Squad huddled in a corner of the cafeteria at lunchtime. I didn’t bother trying to invade their little group, because at this point in time I didn’t feel like putting up with His Royal Ass. Besides I knew what the conversation was about, and I had no desire to hear Ava’s little story told over again.
After practice I went straight to the Crashdown, because if I went home I knew the chances were pretty good of running into Tess.
Damn…Liz looked good tonight in that stupid little outfit….Talk, Kyle..Talk. That’s all you guys are doing tonight remember. Don’t ruin it with her, be cool.
Okay, I know this part sucked, but it’s transition and it’s supposed to! I’ll get to work on the next part really soon Sue!
Part 7 B:
Before we return to the wonderful world of Kyle, we are going to drop in on Liz Land.
Earlier the same day ~
She couldn’t believe she was running late. It wasn’t like she’d slept in that morning; after all she’d gotten in a two mile run with Kyle. As she thought back over their run, she decided she had definitely had a better run because he was with her. It helped pass the distance quicker.
Just as she slammed her locker shut and turned to head to class, Liz saw them. Max and Tess were standing in the hallway in front of his locker. To make things worse, Max seemed engrossed in every word Tess had to say. His head was bent near hers, about that time Tess gestured wildly about something and her laughter tinkered as it reached Liz’s ears. When Max laughed at whatever it was Tess had said, Liz felt the tears well up in her eyes. It was finally over. She knew this was supposed to happen, but it hurt her heart to see it actually taking place.
She couldn’t wait to talk to Kyle this evening. It was one thing that Maria knew the details of what had happened with Future Max, but she really couldn’t understand it. Kyle on the other hand had been there with her through it all, he’d been with her when she broke down and cried her eyes out.
At the Crashdown~
“Hey you’ve got a really good looking guy watching your every move Liz,” Maria said.
“Quit messing with me Maria.”
“No, I’m serious. Look for yourself,” she said.
“Where is he Maria?”
“Back corner booth.”
“Maria! That’s Kyle,” Liz laughed.
“Well he isn’t bad looking, he’s barely alien, and he IS staring at you,” Maria countered.
“What? I’m just trying to help,” she said. About that time Michael rang the bell, “Order up, Maria.”
“Go Maria. Before it gets cold.”
“Liz, this is not the end of this conversation. I wanna know what’s going on with you and Kyle. You two are hanging out an awful lot lately.”
“Well, he just…understands things,” Liz said.
“Like I don’t. Nope girl, there’s more to this than you’re telling me. I can feel it ,” Maria said with an air of confidence. She knew something was going on and she intended to find out what.
“C’mon Kyle, Let’s go upstairs,” Liz said after they’d finished cleaning up the restaurant.
“You can’t stay real late, but Mom and Dad won’t mind if you’re here for a while.”
“Sounds okay with me,” I said.
After we said “Hello” to Mr. and Mrs. Parker, Liz and I went out on her balcony.
“What did you want to talk to me about Kyle?”
“This whole alien thing, Liz. Are you okay with it?” I asked.
“I’m not sure I’m okay with it, but it’s a part of me now so I’m dealing with it.”
“Well part of the reason I wanted to talk to you about it is because I think I have powers,” I kind of mumbled.
“Powers…what kind? How do you know?” she asked.
“Well at first I thought they were nothing. Now that we know we’ve been changed, I’ve been thinking about it. Everything just wasn’t adding up. It all started the night I brought you home after the whole thing with Max. As you were getting out of the car, I touched your arm. When I touched you I got a vision of how all the stuff with Future Max was making you feel and everything.”
“Wow, Kyle,” Liz said. “Speaking of Max and stuff, I guess things are working. He and Tess seemed awfully cozy today.” As she said this, tears began to slip down her face.
“Come here,” I said and gathered her in a close hug. “It’s okay.”
“No, I’m going to be strong,” She said. With that she pulled away from me and wiped her eyes. “No more crying over what can never be.”
We sat there and chatted about school and Liz’s experience with her own powers for a few minutes. Just as I was about to get up to leave, Liz interrupted me.
“Kyle, I want to try something. I want you to kiss me. I know I can get flashes from hybrids and shapeshifters. I wonder if I can get them from you too,” I could see the wheels turning in Liz’s mind. And knowing me, do you think I’d turn down a chance to kiss the beautiful Liz Parker? Not a chance.
“Are you sure about this?” I ask her. I really didn’t want her to regret this, or mess up our friendship.
“What’s a kiss between friends, right?” She said.
With that I grabbed her hand and pulled her into my lap. “Kyle, to get flashes I know I have to put a lot of emotion into a kiss. I’m going to try and do that. Can you do the same?” You bet I could.
I pulled her in close and closed my eyes. The kiss was soft at first, hesitant between us, neither one knowing exactly what to expect. Her lips were just the way I remembered them, soft and smooth. She tasted just faintly of strawberries and cream. It must have been the last of some lip-gloss she’d put on during her shift in the Crash.
I wasn’t sure where this kiss was going, but I ran my tongue lightly across her lips. She parted them ever so slightly. Taking this invitation, my tongue dipped ever so slightly into the soft recesses of her mouth.
Our tongues twined together in a ritual as old as time itself. I ran my fingers through Liz’s rich, dark hair, cupping at her neck and pulling her closer. Her hands were in my hair and running down my back. The movements became more frantic as we grasped at each other. At just that moment it happened…
Liz on her first day of school.
Liz running, as I chased her during a game of tag at recess, slowing down just a little so I could catch her.
Liz and Maria laughing and eating ice cream, talking about boys.
Liz watching me. Me asking her out.
Liz crying over Max.
Liz breaking up with me.
More tears over Max.
Anticipation, excitement, expectation as I kissed her tonight.
At just about that time, Liz broke the kiss. We both came up gasping for air. Who needs air, right?
“Wow,” I breathed, leaning my forehead again hers.
“Did you see anything?” she asked.
“Yeah, I saw you growing up. I experienced a lot of your feelings too,” I said.
“Me too,” She said.
“What did you see Liz?” I asked.
“I saw us playing together at recess. You when your Mom left. You and me together. Your anger at Max,” she said.
“What does all this mean Liz?”
“I guess it means we’re different,” she said.
“Can we keep this between us for a while, please?” As I asked this, she moved to get off my lap.
“Sure, Kyle. It’s getting late you’d better go.”
I moved towards the window. Out of pure desire at that moment I grabbed her arm and pulled her in close. I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her soundly, fully on the mouth. I just couldn’t help it. I wanted to kiss her again and again. Just as I was about to release her, my world came apart. She came up on tiptoes, wrapped her arms around my neck and ran her tongue around my ear. She planted wet, open mouth kisses along my jaw and when she reached my mouth. Well she kissed me in a way I’ve never been kissed before. She rocked my world all right.
Lets just say it was much, much later when I left that balcony to go home…
