Prologue ~!~Escape~!~

The Granolith sped off into the clouded blue sky. Tess. She was gone. She killed Alex, and now she was gone. It was kind of surreal.

Liz looked around her. The Pod Chamber was in shambles, and so were her friends. Their lives, like the cliff that they stood on, had been shook and torn apart. Everything was different now. They were different.

"What's next?" Liz vaguely heard Isabel ask through the babbling of her thoughts.

"I have to save my son," Max replied. That brought Liz crashing back to reality. Son. That's right. He had slept with Tess, and now he had a son somewhere out there. Just when she thought that things couldn't get any worse, they did.

Escape. That was the first thing that came to her mind as the tears settled in her eyes. She needed to get away. She needed time. Liz took one last look at her surroundings before walking down the cliff on shaky legs. The others looked on in dismay.

"Liz!" She heard Max yell as he ran to catch up to her. When he finally reached her, he put a hand on her shoulder and spun her around.

*Flash*
Panting. Moaning. Screaming.
*Flash*

Liz dislodged herself from his grasp, gasping for air.

"What's wrong?" Max asked worriedly. Liz looked at him in disbelief. How could he ask her that? How could he not know? She needed out. Escape. It came to mind again.

"I'm leaving," she decided aloud, ignoring his question. Max nodded.

"OK. We'll give you a ride back to the Crash," Max offered. Liz shook her head. He didn't understand.

"I'm going to New York for a while. My plane leaves tomorrow. I'm graduating early and I was offered to study at Columbia University for a year. At first I wasn't going to go, but now..." Liz trailed off, looking at the group of friends around her. Max shook his head feverishly.

"No, you aren't," he stated as if it was simplest thing in the world. Liz's head shot up to look at him, her eyes fully showing her anger.

"This is not a discussion. I'm leaving, and that's it. I'm not Iz! You can't control me! Not anymore. I need out! I need time! I need to escape--,"there's that word again. She didn't wait for a reply. She didn't even notice the looks on their faces. She didn't register the agony on Max's face. She didn't see the pain on Isabel's. She didn't hear the sobs from Maria. She couldn't care less about the anger on Michael's. She didn't even bother to listen to Kyle's pleas. She simply turned and walked away. She walked away from the quarry. Away from her friends. Away from Roswell. Away from Max. Away from Liz. Not once did she ever look back.

Escape.

Part One ~!~ The Arrival ~!~ One year later

The bells on the Crashdown's doors jingled, signaling a new arrival. Michael turned from wiping the counter to tell the intruder that they were closed.

"Sorry, I haven't gotten around to locking up yet, but we're closed--," he immediately stopped talking when he saw who was at the door.

There, leaning on a booth, was a sight for sore eyes. The girl was beautiful, but rough at the same time. She had dark brown hair that was highlighted with burgundy, and cut to frame her face. She had a small barbell through her right eyebrow and a small diamond stud through her left nostril. She wore a tight black halter top with a brown leather mini skirt that hugged her curvy hips in all the right places. Her boots were the same color and material as her skirt. They were at least three inches high, and they came up to her knees.

Michael stood looking at her as though he was in a trance. He didn't realize that he was staring, until she spoke.

"You's like what's ya see's?" She asked tauntingly. Michael could see her tongue ring as she spoke with a deep New York accent.

The girl started walking towards him, seductively swaying her hips with each step that she took.

"What's crackin', Mikey?" She asked as she came to a stop in front of him.

Something about her told Michael that she could be trusted. It was like he knew her from somewhere.

"Do I know you?" He asked, when he could finally find his voice.

She just smirked. He was about to ask her again when Maria came in from the back room.

"Michael, who was at the--," she stopped mid-sentence when she saw the girl.

'Oh, damn. I'm in trouble,' Michael thought when he heard her voice. He braced himself for impact, and was quite shocked when it never came. He turned to face Maria and was surprised to see a huge smile on her face.

"Eliza!" She shouted, pushing Michael out of the way so that she could hug the girl. The girl chuckled and hugged her back.

"How's ya livin', kid?" She asked in her rich accent. Maria giggled.

"Girl, I love your accent!" Maria answered. Eliza just smiled.

Michael looked on in confusion. 'Eliza? Who the hell is that?' He asked himself. The door's bell jingled again before he could ask.

"I's brought someone's wit me," Eliza explained. Maria looked at the new presence in the room and squealed happily.

"'Rena!" She shouted, hugging the girl.

'Rena was about 5'6" and beautiful. She also had an aura of roughness to her. She had long black hair and wore a black baby tee with some black leather pants and boots. Her right eyebrow was pierced like Eliza's, but she lacked the nose stud.

"What up, Lady?" She asked in a New York accent. Michael could see that she also had a tongue ring.

Maria just squealed in delight and pulled the two girls into a hug again.

"I can't believe that you're here!" She shouted with excitement. All three of the girls laughed. Michael finally spoke.

"Maria, who the hell are these people?" He asked his girlfriend. Eliza smirked as Maria giggled.

"Oh, ya see's, now's I's hurt. You's don't even recognize a friend! I's leave for a year and ya forget's about me," she said through mock hurt.

Michael's mind was reeling. 'It couldn't be,' he thought to himself, but the smile on Eliza's face told him that it was. Why didn't he see it before? She looked just like her. Well, not just like her, but you get the point. Obviously, she'd changed a lot. It was her. She was back.

"What are you doing back here, Liz?" He asked.

From Part One

Part Two ~!~Differences~!~

"School's over, and da name's Eliza," Eliza explained. "This is my girl Serena. She's goin' ta stay wit' me for a whiles," she stated.

Michael just nodded. He knew that the old Michael would be angry with her for leaving them, but he wasn't the old Michael any more. He was different, and this new Michael was thrilled to have her back.

"I'm glad that you're back home," Michael said, pulling her into a hug. To say that the gesture wasn't unexpected would be a lie. Eliza just smiled.

"It's goods ta be back," she offered. Michael squeezed her a little before letting go.

"Hmm... "Michael cleared his throat, feeling
uncomfortable with all the emotions floating around the room. "So, are you gonna go see everyone else?" he asked, running his hand through his short spikes.

"Umm ... no. It's kindda late nows. Have 'em come down ta da Crash 'morrow at twelve, aight?" Eliza said, looking at anything, but him.

"Sure," he said, noticing her discomfort. He wanted to know why her mood had changed so suddenly, but he didn't push it. The last thing that he wanted to do was to make her feel worse.

"I'm gonna go holla at the parentals and din go hits da stack," Eliza said, pushing past Michael. "'Ria, comes up whens ya done," she said, turning around. "Lata, Mikey boy," she smirked, walking toward the back of the Crashdown. Serena silently followed.

'There's something about that girl,' Michael thought about Serena. 'It's like I feel this ... connection to her,' he added. His thoughts were cut short when his eyes landed on the tattoo in between Eliza's shoulder blades. He had seen that symbol before. It was a square divided into four smaller squares. There was a crown hanging off of the upper right corner. He knew that symbol, he just couldn't place it. He continued to stare at the doors that she passed through.

"What's wrong, Spaceboy?" Maria asked worriedly. Michael shifted his gaze to her and smiled, before leaning down to kiss her.

"Nothing," he whispered against her lips. "Nothing at all," he murmured.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

"So, how did the units react when they saw you?" Maria asked Eliza, flopping down on the bed. She had just finished closing the Crashdown and was now catching up on lost time with Serena and Eliza. Eliza grinned.

"Theys flipped out! Theys was all, 'what the hell did you do?' It was classic," she laughed out.

"Yea, wells they ain't da only ones that be flippin' outs. Did ya see Rath's freakin' reaction? Nows that was freakin' classic," Serena asked laughing.

"Yeah, his eyes basically bugged out," Maria said with mock jealousy laced in her voice.

"Yea? Well, he just ain't use ta seein' Eliza. Once he 'members, he'll deals," Eliza stated nonchalantly, and with that, the laughter died down quickly, and was promptly replaced with an awkward silence. Maria broke it with an exasperated sigh.

"Liz... err, Eliza. Man, you're not even Liz anymore, for Christ's sake! You're something more. Something greater..." Maria vented as she laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling. "I'm glad, ya know? I'm glad that you've found what you've been looking for, but at times I can't help but wish that I hadn't visited you and found out," she finished, referring to her trip to New York during winter break.

Eliza shook her head and reached for her friend. "I's still da same person, 'Ria. I's always gon be Liz, but I'm also Elizandra toos," Eliza explained. "Look, I's even kept mys earth name, Eliza-beth Parker. It's just that by bein' Eliza, I's can have both of two worlds. Ya feel me?" She finished, hugging her friend. "Just don't tell da othas who I am," she pleaded. "Theys can't knows right now."

Maria nodded. "Nos probl'm. I's keep it unda wraps," Maria said, mocking their accent. Eliza pushed Maria, laughing. Serena hit her with a pillow.

"You's dissin' us?" Serena asked, laughing. Maria shook her head.

"I'd never!" She said innocently.

"Ok, ok. Holla, holla, holla," Eliza said, trying to get the other girls' attention. "'Ria? Hows are they?" She asked, when they finally calmed down.

Maria didn't even have to ask who she was talking about. She already knew. She pondered the question for a while before answering.

"Well, Maria, which would be me," she said with a grin, "Goes to the local college and manages the lovely Crashdown Cafe, part time. She's also
currently pursuing a career in music," she finished. By this time, Serena and Eliza were stifling giggles.

"Michael, which would be my lucky boyfriend, is a part time rent-a-cop ... err ... security guard, my bad, and he also works as a cook at the Crashdown. He is currently into his art," She continued, noticing the look of shock on their faces.

"Kyle, who is now my stepbrother, is a freshman at NMU, and currently resides in Santa Fe," she said.

"Your brotha?" Eliza asked, with an arched eyebrow.

"Yup. His dad married my mom," Maria explained.

"'Bout time," Eliza muttered under her breath, causing Serena to snicker.

"What was that?" Maria asked.

"Go on," Eliza said loud enough for her to hear.

"Ok, let's see... Where was I? Oh! Yeah, ok. Which brings me to Isabel Evans. Or should I say Isabel Rameriez? Izzy is now a married woman."

"Get outta here!" Eliza said with wide eyes.

"Nope! She's been married for around six months. Crazy, huh?" Maria said with a grin. Eliza nodded her head.

"Yea! I's leave for a whiles, and Roseywell goes ta hell," she said with a smirk. "And what else?" She asked her now quiet friend. When Maria didn't answer, Eliza got worried.

"'Ria? What else? How's he?" She asked, concerned. Maria ran a hand through her hair and let out a sigh.

"We don't know," she choked out finally.

"What do ya mean, yous don't know?" Eliza asked, tasting the bile rise in the back of her throat. Maria sighed again.

"Max was torn up when you left. For days he wouldn't talk to anyone, not even Izzy. He moved out of his house, and slept on Michael's couch. He didn't eat... It was pretty bad," Maria said, tears clearly in her eyes. Eliza stared at her, silently crying.

"Then he decided that he needed to find his son. He said that it was the only thing that he had left. He searched around, and finally got a lead on a shapeshifter named Cal Langley, something or other. He went to LA to find him. Then a couple of days later, he called us and told Michael that he had found a spaceship, and that's the last time that any of us heard from him. As far as we know, he went back home to Antar," Maria concluded, freely crying at that point.

Eliza looked as if she had been hit by a ton of bricks. She just sat there, staring out of the window, crying.

Serena, least affected by the news, just sat in the corner and watched helplessly, as her friends broke down.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

"So, why are we here, Michael?" Isabel asked, as she slid into a booth. Jesse followed her in. Michael sat across from them.

"We've got a surprise for you," Maria said, coming up to the booth, and sitting down beside Michael. "Hey Iz. What's up Jesse?" She greeted them. Isabel smiled, and Jesse nodded.

"I'm good," he answered. "So, when are we gonna see this surprise?" He asked curiously. At that moment, the doors to the back room opened.

"Right now," Michael said, smirking. Isabel and
Jesse turned to see a woman heading towards them.

"Eliza?" Jesse asked, slowly getting up from the booth. Eliza looked at him in shock.

"Jesse? What are you doing here?" She asked, gaping at him.

"I could ask you the same thing," he answered, hugging her. Jesse pulled back, and cupped Eliza's face with both hands, gently stroking her cheek.

"I've missed you," he whispered, gazing into her eyes.

"Ditto," Eliza replied through tears.

Part Three ~!~Small World~!~

The two stood that way for minutes, just gazing into each other's eyes with goofy grins etched upon their features. They were completely oblivious to the outside world, until a voice broke them out of their trance.

"Hi. I don't believe that we've met. I'm Isabel Ramierez, Jesse's wife," Isabel said, walking up to the couple. She offered her hand, waiting for the strange girl to introduce herself. When the girl did nothing, but look at her, Isabel pressed on. "And you would be...?" Isabel curiously implored. She wanted to know exactly who captivated her husband so. Isabel was surprised to see that she didn't view the girl as a threat, but only as a friend. Maybe even family.

"Oh, honey, this is my--," Jesse started to explain to his wife, before he was abruptly interrupted by Eliza.

"I'm Eliza. I's met Jesse here throughs a mutual friend, while I's was in New York. We became as close as siblings," she explained, throwing a pleading look to Jesse, before shaking Isabel's hand.

"Yeah, like brother and sister," Jesse offered along with a shaky smile. Eliza smiled in appreciation.

'We'll talk later,' she told him through her eyes. Jesse nodded. Isabel smiled.

"Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm always up to meeting some of Jesse's friends," she said excitedly, still not recognizing Eliza.

"What a small world!" Maria chimed in. Jesse and Isabel looked at her in confusion.

"Why is it a small world?" Isabel asked.

"Well, because we brought you here to surprise you with Eliza, and we ended up surprising you both!" 'Ria pointed out excitedly.

"What? This was the surprise?" Isabel asked, a little disappointed.

"Izzy? Doesn't 'Eliza' look just a bit familiar to you?" Michael asked his 'sister'.

"Should she?" she asked, studying the girl. 'Black boots...decent. Red leather pants ... hot! Black baby-tee that read 'Devil's Angel' ... Chic. Over all ensemble ... Killer. Hmm ... the girl's got taste,' Isabel thought to herself, while appraising the shorter female. Her eyes traveled to the siren's face. 'Bob cut, with burgundy highlights...impressive. Multiple piercings ...daring, yet fitting. Can I keep her?' Isabel thought, mentally giggling to herself. She then moved on to Eliza's eyes. 'Brown and entrancing...like deep pools of chocolate. Warm and friendly...soul searchers. They remind me of...' "Liz," Isabel murmured when it finally dawned on her. Eliza smiled.

"It's about time, Iz. I was gettin' a lil' nervous wit ya lookin' at me like dat," she said with a smirk. Isabel smiled, hearing her accent.

"Come here!" she said through sudden tears, hugging her friend. "I can't believe that you're back. I was starting to think that I'd never see you again. God, how I've missed you," she whispered against the shorter girl's hair. Eliza was comforted by the sincerity in Isabel's voice. Though they hadn't been good friends in the past, their time apart had shown the girls how much they truly cared for the other. "Goodness. I'm going to smear my make-up!" Isabel sniffed, dabbing her eyes with a tissue after they pulled apart. The group laughed.

"Eliza! Girl, why didn't ya wake me up? Yous just let me sleep in and miss all da festivities," Serena said, walking into the nearly empty diner.

"Yea, well, jet-lag's a bitch," Eliza told the new arrival. Serena smiled, coming to a stop beside her friend, not yet noticing the others present. "Well, yous here now, so I's mind as wells introduce ya," Eliza said, putting her arm around her girl's slender shoulders. Serena looked up, seeing the group for the first time. "Yous already knows Mikey and 'Ria," she continued, nodding in their direction.

"Hey," they greeted her.

"And it's Michael," he added. The girls smiled.

"Movin' on, this is Isabel and...and her HUSBAND," Eliza stated, enunciating the last word, as to deliver a point to Serena. Serena smiled at Isabel, and then her blue eyes met his shocked brown ones.

"Jesse?" Serena whispered tentatively.

"Seri ... err... Serena. Hi. Umm...what are you doing here?" he stuttered out uncomfortably.

"I could ask yous da same thing," she replied with a smile, throwing her arms around him. Jesse stood there, not knowing what to do, before carefully returning the gesture. He quickly drew back. Isabel threw a look to Eliza.

"Remember how I's said that I's met Jesse throughs a mutual friend?" Eliza asked her with an uneasy giggle. Isabel slowly nodded, her eyes still on Jesse and Serena.

"Well, Serena's that friend," she stammered. Isabel froze.

"Well, it is a small world," she muttered out loud, while glaring at Jesse.

"And getting smaller," he choked out, unbuttoning his collar.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

"Eliza, why didn't you tell me that you ... that SHE was coming to Roswell!?!?" Jesse asked Eliza. He was currently pacing in the back room, and every other second, he would stop and look through the diamond shaped window to look at his wife and his ... what? Wife? Talking.

"I'm sorry, Jesse, but I's didn't know that you'd be here! I's just happen ta have decided ta come home, and there ya are!" Eliza explained to him.

"Home? You mean to tell me that YOU are the Liz Parker that they keep talking about?" he asked her. He stopped pacing.

"Yea. And that's da Isabel and da Michael, and da Maria that I's told you about!" she told him, from her position on the couch. Jesse's face visibly paled. Eliza finally understood. "Yous didn't know, did ya? Yous didn't know that you were married ta Vilandra? How could ya not know!? Yous been married for over 6 months, and you didn't pick up on it!?" she accused her brother, rising from the couch.

"Lower your voice! They'll here you," he whispered harshly. "No, ok? No, I didn't know! Oh, my God. This explains so much... Why I felt drawn to her when I first came to Roswell. Why I felt the need to protect her. What happened to Max! Why on our honeymoon we--"

"Sista, here! Don't finish that thought!" Eliza ordered, hugging him.

"Oh, sorry. But, what am I gonna do? She doesn't even know about me. And how do I explain about Seria being my 'destiny'?" he asked, worried.

"Don't fret. Rena will take care of it. As for you tellin' your wife da truth ... she'll understand. Believe me when I's tell ya dat she has had her share of 'destiny' issues. But DON'T tell her about me," she warned. "Theys can't know about me yet."

"That's why you told them that lie about us in there? You thought that they knew about me?"

"Yea, that and da fact dat 'Liz Parker' doesn't have a brother. It'd be too suspicious," she explained. Jesse nodded.

"Ok. I'll tell her tonight. And I won't mention you," he told her. She nodded, looking up at him as he gazed through the window again.

"Go," she said, pushing him through the doors. Jesse smiled, going into the diner. Eliza silently followed. Isabel and Serena were laughing. When they got to the table, Isabel looked up at him.

"Did you help Eliza with her bag?" she asked him as he sat down. He nodded, thinking that he was off the hook. Wrong. "So, you and Serena, huh?" she asked her nervous looking husband. He gulped.

'What exactly did she tell her?' he thought to himself. As if reading his thoughts, Serena answered.

"Don't worry, Jesse. I's explained to her dat we dated in da past, and dat we're just good friends now. Besides, my heart belongs to anotha." Jesse seemed to relax a little.

"Yeah, she did. I like her honey. You should of introduced us sooner," she told him. Jesse smiled.

"Yeah, maybe I should've," he whispered, before kissing her. Isabel smiled against his lips.

"So, Eliza. Why the name change?" Isabel asked the question that had been plaguing her mind since seeing her friend again.

"Well, when I's got ta New York, I's decided that it was time for a change. I's wasn't Liz Parker anymore, so I's became Eliza," she told her friends. Well, only have of it was a lie.

Isabel nodded her head, seemingly accepting the story. "Well, I like it," she told her friend. The next couple of hours were spent laughing, and having fun.

"Well, as good as it's been, I have to go to school tomorrow," Isabel said, looking at Jesse and giving him a quick wink. "Let's go?" She asked him suggestively. He groaned at the implications.

"Uh, sorry, but we gotta go," he told their friends, already at the door, dragging his wife with him. Isabel smiled.

"I'll see you guys later!" she shrieked out as he yanked her through the door. By that time, the group was in hysterics.

"Well, that went fairly well," Michael said to no one in particular, still laughing. The girls nodded.

"Yea, it did," Eliza said, a small smile gracing her lips.
