Author's Note: I had posted this at the old board a while ago, but it dropped off. I guess that I took too long to update. Well, I'm back, and I'm reposting! Enjoy!

Author's Note # 2:I am very disappointed about how this story is doing on this board. I had posted this on Jenn's old board, and was blown away at the response that I had recieved. I even received a nomination for the Ultimate Fan Fic Award, and I came pretty close to winning it too. Hundreds of people asked me to continue, and when I do... No one is interested. So I've come to a tough decision. If this story doesn't pick up on this board, I will discontinue to post it here:() I don't want to go that far, but this is starting to damage my ego. So I'm posting everything that I have written. Chapters 0 - 13 in all. I'm a polarist at heart and I know how we polarists love to read Polar fanfic. So... If you are interested, and want to see where I take this, leave me your e-mail, and I'll send it to you. All I'm asking for is some response*happy*

Prologue

LIZ'S POV

"I really think it's over," I heard him say as I entered the hall. I had hoped to find him, to tell him that I had made a horrible mistake ... that I loved him. All of those thought left my mind as I heard those words escape from his lips. Then he kissed her. I mean REALLY kissed her. I knew that passion... It used to be for me.

I ran out of the hall, away from the prom, away from my 'soulmate', unnoticed by him and his Barbie. But someone did notice. Someone did care...

"Liz!", his husky voice rang in my ears.

"Michael, I am not in the f⊕*&^#! mood," I said harshly, before turning around to find him standing near the door with a sympathetic look upon his face. I quickly regretted it.

"Liz, I'm sorry... I'm so sorry," Michael said, pulling me into a hug. His words had a double meaning. Apparently, he had seen it too. Confused, hurt, angry, and betrayed, I stood, held in Michael's arms, crying for dear life. He could only whisper three words.

"Max and Tess..."

MICHAEL'S POV

Maria had had to go to the bathroom, so we stopped dancing. I decided to go too. I was walking down the hall, on my way back to the dance, when I spotted Maxwell. Then, I saw it. Max touched her cheek and then... Liz. She was running out of the door.

"Damn it Maxwell..." I whispered as I ran after her. I reached the door and called her name. Her response stung. I didn't know why, but I cared. It killed me to see her in pain. The look on her face made the anger I felt for Maxwell escalate, but all I could say was, "Liz, I'm sorry... I'm so sorry." It was true. I was sorry. I was sorry that I had angered her, urging her harsh response. I was sorry for what she had seen. Most of all, I was sorry for what I knew would eat her up inside.

She stood in my arms, crying, and I clung to her as if my own life had depended on it. He didn't deserve her. I couldn't believe it..."Max and Tess..." Once I said those words, I knew. I knew that nothing would ever be the same.

Ch. 1

"Michael, I need that order," Liz yelled through the window.

"All right already," Michael said, putting a plate in her hand.

"It's about time," she mumbled, turning around.

"You're welcome," he yelled after her.

"Geez, that girl has been like a stonewall for the past week. She kindda reminds me of you. I wonder what happened. Oh well, I'll just ask her about it later," Maria said, looking after Liz. "So 'Spaceboy', feel like takin' a break?" She asked, turning her attention to Michael.

"Not now, Maria," Michael said, turning around. "Not ever," he mumbled, under his breath.

It had been a week since Liz and Michael had seen Max and the Gerbil at the prom, and he was right. It wasn't the same. Max and Tess stayed away from the others, omitting Mike and Iz from that statement. no one even knew that they were together, but Michael, Isabel, and of course, Liz. Liz... she had changed drastically in the past week. She closed off all emotion, but anger and contempt. Well, that's what it looked like from the outside, but only one person got to see her on the inside. Michael. They had grown really close over the past week. Close? Hell, the were practically joined at the hip. It was amazing that no one noticed the way they were always together. 'Ding, ding', the bells on the Crashdown's doors jingled. In came Max. "Perfect," Michael groaned as Max slide into a vacant booth.

"Hey, what can I get for you?" Liz asked, her voice stacked with sarcasm.

"Liz, we need to talk," he stated simply.

"I'm a busy woman, MAXWELL. I don't have time for this, or for you," she said with venom.

Max visibly flinched at her tone, and choice of words. He had never heard her call him Maxwell. The word seemed wrong as they rolled off of her tongue. "Liz..." he said pleadingly.

"Okay, you've got two minutes, and I suggest that you make 'em count."

"Okay, there isn't an easy way to say this, so I'll just say it," Max started.

"I already know about you and Tess," Liz said calmly.

"What? I mean, how?" he asked, confused.

"It was kindda hard to miss, with your tongue shoved down her throat at prom," Liz spat out, standing up. Before Max could respond, Liz walked away.

A song started to play on the jukebox, and he listened to the words as he watched her retreating figure, slip away. It was amazing how well the lyrics seemed to fit.

You and me
We used to be together
Every day together always

I really feel
I'm losing my best friend
I can't believe
This could be the end

It looks as though you're letting go
And if it's real,
Well I don't want to know

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts

Our memories
They can be inviting
But some are altogether
Mighty frightening

As we die, both you and I
With my head in my hands
I sit and cry

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts

It's all ending
I gotta stop pretending who we are...
You and me
I can see us dying ... are we?

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts

The words raced through his mind. He looked around, and saw her talking to Michael. "Good-bye, Liz," he whispered, standing up. Her turned from her, and walked out of the jingling doors.

CH. 2

"Mikey, I just don't know what to do with him! I know that it's over, and I accept that, well actually, I made that happen, but.... I don't know!" Liz complained to Michael. She had just ended a very heavy conversation with Max, and was releasing all of her frustrations onto Michael.

Michael had been watching the entire thing play out, from the back room, and when she got up from the booth, she came and talked to him. It had been a ritual for the past week. Something happened to Liz, she'd come to him and let it all out. The first time being the night of prom. After Liz let go of him, they sat in the quad and talked. She had been pretty upset, and said some things that Michael had never heard her say. She was talkin' a hell of a lot about Tess, or the Gerbil, as she had so kindly nicknamed her. She had even come up with one for Max. Prick. She seemed to be on a roll, making up nicknames, hence the name Mikey... Don't ask. Why he let her call him that, he didn't know.

"Okay, Liz. How 'bout we grab some ice cream, and head to my place? We'll watch Alien Resurrection, and you can pretend that the monster is the Prick," Michael offered to Liz.

Liz smiled and looked up at him. "Chocolate Fudge Brownie?" Liz asked.

"Of course!" Michael exclaimed. "We'll leave after our shift," he said. He had no clue why he was being so sweet to Liz. It just seemed to fit him, like it came naturally, and he actually enjoyed the feeling. Liz had proven to be a great friend. Although, it was him being a friend to her at that moment.

Liz nodded. "Okay, thanks Mikey," she said, walking back into the main room. She greeted Maria with a cheerful smile, on her way out.

"One minute she's hostile, the next, she's a member of the Mickey Mouse Club," Maria said, coming to a stop beside Michael.

"She's been through a lot," Michael told her, immediately jumping to her defense.

"OK, 'Spaceboy'. Calm down. It was just an observation," Maria said pointedly. "So.... How 'bout I come over after my shift?" Maria asked with a suggestive smile.

Michael ignored the pass and said, "Sure. Liz will be over too," Michael said, looking at her.

Maria's smile lifted. "Really? Ummm ... that's great..... Ummm ... why?" Maria stuttered out.

"She needed a friend," Michael stated, simply.

"Well, why you? She has me! And even Alex! Why you?" She asked again. Her voice began rising. She was getting angry.

"Because, you haven't been there! None of you have!" Michael said, getting angry as well.

"I've ALWAYS have been there! How DARE you suggest otherwise!" Maria said, storming out of the room.

"Easily," Michael mumbled, heading towards the kitchen.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!

"I thought synthetics were supposed to be all logical and sh!t, but you're just a big ol' psycho girl!" The TV blared, Liz and Michael started to crack with laughter.

"You can say that about a lot of people," Liz said laughing harder.

Michael knew exactly who she was talking about, and that made it even funnier. They had been at his house for about and hour, and had gone through half a gallon of ice cream. They were having a blast.

"This is REALLY good," Liz said. Michael turned to look at her, only to find her with another bowl of ice cream in her hand. Wait! That was HIS bowl!

"LIZ! What are you doing?" Michael asked.

Liz looked at him. "I'm eating ice cream..." She answered, confused. She looked completely oblivious to what she had just done.

"Ummm, Liz. That was my bowl, and it had a lot of Tabasco in it," Michael said worried.

"You're kidding me..." Liz said, with a look of horror. "Then why does it taste so good?" She asked, licking her lips.

Michael watched her and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, but you missed a spot," he said, reaching over to wipe some Tabasco from her lips. He looked into her eyes, and smiled. They started leaning in for a kiss, when the door opened.

"Michael, I was wrong, and I'm sorry," Maria said, walking in and sitting next to him on the couch, oblivious to what she had just interrupted. Michael shifted awkwardly.

"No problem," he said.

"Hey Liz," She said, looking at her friend.

"Hi," Liz responded with a forced smile.

"So what are we watching?" Maria asked, leaning into Michael's side.

Ch. 3

"Liz, we need to talk about what happened the other night," Michael said, climbing through her window. It had been two days since their movie night, and they hadn't talked about their almost kiss yet.

"Michael?" Liz asked, looking up from her journal, at her desk. For some reason, she wasn't surprised about him climbing through her window. In fact, she was expecting it. "What are you doing here?" She asked, playing dumb.

"Liz, we need to talk about what happened," he said again, sitting on her bed.

"Michael, nothing happened. Nothing was going to happen," Liz insisted.

"Yeah? Then why have you been ignoring me for the past couple of days? At first, we were talking everyday, and then, we don't talk at all. I was starting to feel lost....." he said, trailing off.

Liz looked at him. He was right. She had begun to feel lost as well. She hadn't meant to close him off, but she was also afraid to be around him. For some reason, she felt drawn to him every since that night. After the movie, she insisted that Michael let her walk home. She said goodnight to him and Maria, and she hadn't talked to him since. "Michael, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ignore you, it's just that that night, things were starting to feel a little...."

"Awkward?" he finished.

"Yeah," Liz said, sitting next to him on her bed. "Michael you've been a great friend, the best friend, and I'm thankful for that, but it can never be anything more," Liz said, forcefully. "You are.....with.....Maria," finished.

"Yeah. I really do love her," Michael admitted. "But does that mean that we can't hang out?"

"Never! I don't think that I could take it, if I lost you too," Liz quietly said. Michael seemed to realize that he was getting a little out of character, so he cleared his throat.

"So, we good?"

"Always," Liz said, smiling.

"Okay, well, I got to go. I have a "real" date with Maria. Ummm.... can I come by afterward, and tell you how it went?" he asked.

"Sure," Liz said happily. Michael smiled and heading towards the window. He had one leg through, when Liz stopped him.

"Ummm, Mikey?" Michael turned around, and looked at her.

"Stay away from shampoo," she said laughing.

"I will never live that down," he mumbled before climbing completely through the window.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

A couple of hours later, Liz looked up from her book at the sound of muffled sobs. She went to her window and couldn't believe her eyes. There on her balcony sat a crying Michael. She quickly climbed out of her window and rushed to his side. "What's wrong, Mikey?" she asked in a small voice. She had never seen him like this before, and it was starting to scare her. When he didn't answer her, she began to panic. "Michael?" She asked, reaching up and lifting his chin. Her heart broke at the sight. His eyes were swollen and filled with tears. He looked broken, for lack of a better word. He rested his head in her chest and sobbed. "Michael, please tell me what happened," Liz pleaded desperately.

"She slept with Kyle," Michael whispered, shaking. Liz was confused.

"Who did? Who slept with Kyle?" Liz asked, rubbing his back. She was hit with image after image.

*~!~* "Michael, there's ummm... there's ummm something that I need to tell you," Maria stuttered, nervously.

Michael looked up from the plate of food sitting in front of him. They were at Senor Chows, and so far, the night seemed to be going really well. He had even brought her flowers. He was having a great time, but at the sound of her unsure voice, his whole mood shifted. "What is it, Maria?" He asked, worried.

"I uhhhh.... I screwed up," Maria said, her eyes filled with unshed tears.

"Maria, what is it?" He asked, grabbing her hand. At the gesture, her tears started to flow freely.

"I uhh... I slept with Kyle," she said in a barely audible tone. It was so low, that Michael wasn't even sure that he had heard her correctly, but when he looked in her eyes and saw the regret that lay there, he roughly dropped her hand. She cried harder.

"YOU WHAT!?!" He asked angrily.

"It was after our fight, and I wasn't thinkin' clearly. Kyle was there and...." she sniffled. Realization hit Michael.

"Then you came to my house like nothing ever happened. You even apologized!" He said, his eyes now filled with tears also. "I loved you! How could you!?" He asked, his voice high. He was completely oblivious to the attention that the scene was causing.

"I came over to tell you!" Maria said desperately.

"But you didn't!" Michael offered, heatedly.

"I was afraid of what would happen if I told you," Maria cried out.

Michael realized what happened. "That's why you asked me hear, isn't it! You wanted to be in a public place when you dropped the news! You wanted to have witnesses!" Michael yelled accusingly at the guilty looking Maria. He took one last look at her before getting up and leaving the restaurant. *~!~*

Sometime during the flash, Liz had begun crying. She had felt every ounce of betrayal and pain that Michael had felt, and it was literally breaking her heart. She continued stroking his back, never speaking. They sat that way for the remainder of the night, crying, until the sun came up.

Ch. 4

"Come on Kyle! How could you? You knew that she was with Michael, and you did it anyway," Liz yelled. After Michael left her house the previous day, or rather that morning, Liz had headed straight to Kyle's house, and was shocked to find Maria there as well. She was furious at Kyle for hurting one of the aliens, after he just helped her save their lives, although, he didn't know that. She was even angrier at Maria for cheating on Michael and after everything that she knew about FMax. Liz hadn't even spoken to her yet.

"Liz, what are you mad at him for? He did nothing wrong! I was the one, ok? Me!" Maria yelled at her friend.

"Maria, I can't even look at you right now, so don't even try to talk to me," she said without looking at her friend. Maria was hurt at the statement. Liz turned, and looked at her in the eyes. "You know what? You did a really shitty thing. Do you have any idea how heartbroken that man is? How could you?" Liz said coldly.

"Well, maybe I'm tired of thinking about the 'Royal Four', all of the time. We're so caught up in making them happy, we never make ourselves happy too," Maria retorted. "Yes, I'm sorry for hurting Michael, but I did what I had to do."

"What you had to do!?!? So you HAD to sleep with Kyle?" Liz asked furiously.

"Liz, stop it! Michael and I haven't been together for a long time, and you know that. He's always shutting me out, and I got fed up with it! Kyle's been there for a long time, but I always said that I would make things work with Michael. Our fight, that day, was the last straw!" Maria defended herself.

"Then why did you try to make up with him again?" Liz asked, confused.

"I didn't try to make up with him. I tried to tell him the truth," Maria admitted. "I know why I did what I did, and I never wanted to hurt him, even though he always managed to hurt me."

"So you wanted this? You wanted to get back at him? So you just used K..." Liz didn't get to finish her sentence because she was interrupted by an angry Kyle.

"Don't even think about saying that she used me! I love her, okay? I've seen the way that he treats her, and I'm tired of it! I love Maria more than anything, and when she came to me crying.... I just..."

"Took advantage of the situation," Liz finished, disgusted. "Kyle, how could you do this? And after you helped me save them from pain?" Kyle looked up at her.

"What do you mean?" Kyle asked, confused. Liz's face softened, realizing her error.

"Liz, don't!" Maria shouted at her. "Don't even try to turn this around on him," Maria pleaded.

Liz ignored her. "You wanna know why we pretended to sleep together Kyle? It was to make Max fall out of love with me. If Max and I were together, Isabel and Michael would have died," Liz explained. Kyle looked shocked.

"But... I... I thought that you were just trying to get back at Evans..." Kyle stammered.

"No! I was trying to save lives! I was trying to save Michael, but with the heartache that you just caused him, he'd be better off dead," Liz said bitterly to Maria and Kyle.

"Liz," Maria started.

"Don't even bother!" Liz shouted, grabbing her purse and jacket. "I hope it was worth it, you guys. 'Cause you just lost a couple of friends," with that, Liz left the Valenti home, and slammed the door behind her.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!

The next couple of months were ... different. Max and Tess were still together, and they stayed away from the Crashdown. They severed all connection to the humans, or so Michael and Liz thought. Michael kept Liz updated on all alien related business. He seemed to be doing better. He switched his shift so that he didn't have to run into Maria, and so did Liz. In fact, Liz seemed to be more angry at Maria than Michael was. Alex had told them that Maria and Kyle were now dating, and that it was getting pretty serious. Surprisingly, that hadn't hurt that much for Michael to hear. Alex was with Isabel in every possible way. You wouldn't see one, without seeing the other. Isabel actually looked happy for once. Then there was Michael and Liz. They were still very close, in fact, it was a little scary. They always knew what the other was thinking and feeling at any given time. It was this strange sort of connection that they'd developed over the months, and Alex and Isabel were starting to think that there was more going on in that relationship that they cared to admit. It was obvious that Michael liked Liz, and that the feelings were mutual, but it never got further than that. They were in a strange case of denial.

Now, the non-couple was at Liz's place, watching Double Jeopardy. They were in Liz's room laying on her bed which was covered with every type of junk food known to man. It also contained a healthy amount of Tabasco Sauce. Liz picked up another Tabasco covered chip. She had taken a liking to it lately, and ate it on everything.

"Ok, that guy deserves whatever he gets," she said with a full mouth.

"Yeah, I mean. How could he just frame his wife like that? That's just wrong!" Michael said reaching for a chip.

"I know!" Liz agreed. She reached for another chip, and frowned. "Michael!"

"What?" he asked innocently.

"You pig! You ate all of the chips!" Liz accused him, laughing.

"I did not!" Michael lied through a full mouth.

"Yeah, I really believe that!" She said getting up.

"Where are you going?" Michael asked after her.

"Downstairs to get more chips!" She called out over her shoulder.

"Hold on. I'll come with you," Michael said pushing pause on the remote, before getting up off of the bed to follow her. They made their way downstairs laughing on the way. It was 5:30 so the Crash was still open. Liz went into the main dinning area to get the chips from behind the counter and she froze from what she saw. There in a booth sat Max, Tess, Kyle and Maria laughing at something. Michael, not seeing this, asked her what was wrong.

"I thought that they didn't talk to any humans, Mikey!" Liz said angrily.

"What are you talking about?" Michael asked confused. He followed her gaze to the booth where the others were sitting.

"I don't believe this," Michael mumbled. He looked back at Liz to see that she wasn't there. He looked back towards the booth, and saw Liz walking angrily towards it. "Oh damn!" Michael cursed walking towards her.

"Liz don't," he called after her. This got the attention of all the others and they were looking nervously at the furious looking Liz.

"Ummm... hello Liz," Max greeted her uneasily.

"Max." Liz replied shortly. The others just looked at them unsure as to what to do.

"Hey Michael," Maria said looking at him.

"Whatever," Michael said back.

"So Liz, is there something that you wanted?" Tess asked rudely.

"As a matter of fact, yes there is," Liz started angrily. "I want to know why in the hell you guys are sitting in MY restaurant talking to them," she said pointing at Kyle and Maria.

"Because they're our friends," Max answered in a strong voice.

"I thought that you cut off all communication to humans!" Liz accused.

"No, you got that one wrong Liz. They cut off all communication with you Liz. You've changed," Maria answered her. Michael was watching the whole scene, and he felt Liz's anger began to rise.

"Calm down, Liz" Michael whispered to her.

"I will NOT calm down, Mikey! Look at this!" Liz continued in a rage. The others sat back and watched in wonder.

"Mikey?" Tess asked laughing. This sent Liz over the edge. Michael felt Liz's hatred for the girl come off of her in waves. It felt like he was about to explode, and he knew that it was what Liz was feeling. He looked back at Liz and he almost doubled over in shock. The rest of the group stared at Liz with a gaping jaw.

"WHAT THE HELL IS EVERYONE LOOKING AT!?!?" Liz asked fed up with the stares. Michael pointed to her hands.

"Liz, why are your hands glowing?" he whispered in her ear. Liz looked down and sure enough, her hands were emitting a bright light.

"I... I don't know. What's happening to me?" She asked him with tears in her eyes.

Ch. 5

"I don't know, Lizzie, but we have to get you upstairs before someone sees you," Michael said grabbing her arms.

"What the hell?!" a voice said behind them.

"Too late," Max said looking at the Crashdown doors where Isabel and Alex stood in shock. Before they could say anything else, Maria slid out of the booth and took her jacket off. She wrapped it around Liz's hands and pushed her towards the back of the cafe.

"I think we should continue this little escapade elsewhere, don't you?" she asked her 'bestfriend'. Liz just nodded. She was too scared to be angry at Maria. With one arm around Liz, Maria made her way up too the Parker residence. Michael was right behind them along with the rest of the gang. They went through the apartment and crowded into Liz's bedroom.

"Sit her down on the bed," Michael instructed Maria.

"Where? There's no room," she said looking at the snack covered bedspread.

"What in the world happened here?" Alex asked looking around the room. The TV screen was covered in static, the bed looked like a garbage dump site, and the floor had several empty bottles of Tabasco on it.

Michael looked around the room and shrugged his shoulders. "Movie night," he said clearing the bed. Maria sat Liz down and looked at the floor.

"Is it me, or is it physically impossible for anyone to eat this much hotsauce?" She asked.

"Well, it is, and I wasn't the only one eating it. Liz had some too. Actually, she had more than I did," Michael answered her sitting next to Liz on the bed. He unwrapped her hands and handed the jacket back to Maria.

"What do you mean she had more than you? She eats Tabasco too?" Max asked him. Michael nodded. "And how long has this been happening?"

"For like, a couple of months," he said. "But that isn't important right now! We need to find out what's wrong with Liz," he continued. Everyone noticed the fear present in his voice.

"It may be important Michael. Maybe she's changing, hence the large Tabasco consumption," Isabel offered.

"Changing? What do you mean? How am I changing?" Liz spoke for the first time since the cafe. The others looked at her. "I mean, Ava told me that I was different because of when Max healed me, but I never ate Tabasco, and I definantly never glowed!" She said getting up set.

Michael rubbed her back and tried to calm her down, but it was to no avail. Liz looked at the others, and stood up. "And why are you guys acting so concerned?" She asked, looking at Maria, Max, Tess, and Kyle. "You didn't care before!" She yelled at them.

"Well, that was before you were glowing! This could jeopardize everything! You're displaying alien traits, and--," Tess was cut off by Michael, Alex, Maria, and Isabel.

"Shuddup!" They yelled at the girl in unison. Tess just glared at them and leaned into Max.

"She's right you guys. This development can mean a lot to us," Max said, defending Tess.

"So that's all I am to you? A development?" Liz asked Max angrily. She felt the energy around her growing, but she ignored it.

"What else should you be to me?" Max asked, his voice rising as well.

"How about a friend?" She shot back at him.

"I'm not the one who severed our friendship! You did that at the prom!" Max accused her feverishly.

"Well, I was trying to do the right thing!" Liz defended herself. The energy grew within her.

"So you slept with Kyle?" Max spat at her. Michael was watching the whole thing, along with the others, afraid to interject. He felt the energy in the room shift, and noticed that Liz hands were glowing more brightly then, than before. She was about to blow.

"You brought this on, yourself!" Max said, and at that, Liz let go. She released the energy in her body with a blinding light. The floors shook and the windows and mirrors exploded. When the light dimmed, everyone looked around in horror.

"What the hell was that?" Kyle finally asked. Michael was the one to answer.

"It was Liz," he said looking at her. She looked like she was about to pass out. All color drained from her face and her legs gave out. Michael caught her and laid her onto her bed.

"It couldn't have been. I've never felt that much power before," Tess said. She couldn't believe that Liz could generate that much power.

"Well, it was. I felt the power in her build. I felt it when she released it. It was her," he said as he stroked her hair. The others looked on with wonder.

"How did you feel it?" Max asked. It was what everyone wanted to know, but what no one wanted to ask. Michael looked up at Max, and smiled.

"We have a really great connection," he told him, and then turned his attention back onto the sleeping Liz.

"You like her!" Max said in an accusing tone.

"So what if I do? She's been there for me, and me for her!" Michael said angrily. Before any of the others could respond Michael continued. "I think that you guys should go. She's asleep now, so nothing else is going to happen, especially since you guys won't be around.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Tess asked offended.

"Well, none of this happened until she talked to you guys. You guys make it worse. This thing is controlled by anger, and you guys aren't in a very good position right now. Just go," Michael said with a gleam in his eyes.

Max looked like he was about to protest, but Maria stopped him. "We should go Max. I don't want to hurt her any more than I already have, and this thing could do that," Maria said. It was true. Maria was missing her bestfriend, and she wouldn't do anything else to intentionally hurt her. Isabel walked up and put her hand on his shoulder.

"She's right, Max," she told her brother. Max never took his eyes off of Michael.

"Yeah, ok, but I'll be back tomorrow," he said walking out of the door. The others followed.

"Bye," Alex said to his friend. Michael just nodded. After he heard the front door close, he laid down next to Liz. She rolled over and turned into him. Michael smiled and wrapped his arms around her.

"Good night Michael," she mumbled, and dozed back off to sleep.

"'Night my princess," he said in a whisper. He kissed her forehead and closed his eyes in sleep.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!

Liz opened her eyes, and looked around her. It was foggy and she couldn't see anything around her. It was cold and she felt scared.

"Michael?" She called out instinctively.

"I'm right here," he said grabbing her hand. Liz let out a sigh of relief.

"Just don't leave me, ok?" she asked him.

"Never," he replied.

"Good, you're both here," someone said walking towards them. The fog began to part and a woman in a long flowing dress appeared.

"Who are you?" Michael asked the woman.

"My name is Serena," she said, looking into Liz's eyes. The woman's eyes were deep brown and almond shaped. They were mesmerizing. Liz shuddered at the name, and broke eye contact. "I am to be your guide on this plane," she continued.

"Our guide, for what?" Liz asked, over the initial shock of meeting THE Serena, the one FMax spoke of.

"Your guide to your future," she said looking at the couple. "I am here to awaken you, as well as the others."

"What do you mean, awaken us? And what others?" Michael asked skeptically.

"You know of the others in which I speak. There has been a blindfold over your eyes, and it is the time for it to be lifted. Liz, you are more important than you realize," Serena said, looking at her.

"I don't know what you are talking about," Liz told the woman.

"Yes, you do. You demonstrated a tremendous amount of power today. It is time," Serena said.

"So you know what is happening to her?" Michael asked the woman, hope etched in his voice. The woman nodded.

"Are you gonna tell us?" Michael asked impatiently.

"No, that is for you guys to find out on your own. I am simply here as a guide. Stay together, be as one, and you will understand."

"What do you mean, be as one?" Liz asked.

"You two are the destined, you two should always be together. Your love will save us all," Serena explained.

"The what?" Michael asked.

"I must go," Serena said. Her figure was starting to fade.

"Wait! What's the destined?" Michael called out after her.

"Ask your friends, they know more than you think," Serena answered.

"But Max is as clueless as us!" Liz said upset.

"Those are not the friends in which I speak," Serena said before disappearing completely.

"Wait a minute. Did she say our love?" Liz asked Michael. Before he could answer, the plane shifted, before disappearing. Liz woke with a start, and turned to see Michael looking at her.

"Yeah, she said our love," he said before leaning down to kiss her. The kiss was gentle and sweet. Slow at first, but then it turned passionate as Liz deepened it. Their connection opened completely and each participant was rushed with a feeling of overwhelming security. Images of their lives rushed past their closed eyelids, and each watched in wonder. They broke this kiss when the need for air was suffocating. Liz smiled at Michael.

"Mikey. I... I think that I'm in love with you," she said sheepishly.

"I know that I'm in love with you," he said as he kissed her again. When the kiss ended, Michael spoke. "I think that we need to tell the others."

"About what? Our kiss?" Liz asked confused. Michael laughed.

"No, the dream," he said stroking her cheek. Liz frowned.

"What?" Michael asked worried.

"We don't have to tell them," Liz started.

"Why?" Michael asked, and then he felt it. The other presence in the room. Without turning to see who it was Michael greeted the assailant. "Hello, Maxwell."

Ch. 6

"Am I .... interrupting something?" Max asked, sitting on the window pane. A smirk grazed his mouth.

"Max, how did you get in? And how long have you been here?" Michael asked angrily, ignoring Max's question. Max gestured around the room.

"No glass," he reminded them. "You should really fix that. There's no telling what ... evil ... can occur," he continued, looking at Liz, who shuddered. Michael pulled her closer to him. "And as for your second question... I've been here long enough."

"Enough with the games, Maxwell. Why don't you tell us why you're here," Michael snapped at his 'friend'. He was really starting to scare him. He had never seen Max act like this before. He was beginning to worry for Liz's safety.

Max just looked at Liz, carefully glancing over her covered body. "Why don't you ask her. She knows why I'm here... In fact, she kindda invited me here personally," Max said, licking his lips.

Michael turned to look at Liz. She was looking at him, her eyes a silent plea to trust her. Michael obliged without hesitation. "What did you think of the show?" She asked Max, her eyes never leaving Michael's face, which shown of confusion. She turned to look at Max, his face etched in a snarl. 'He must think that I mean the show with Michael,' she thought to herself. "I mean the dream, Max," she quickly clarified. His face lightened. The snarl, however, still remained on his face. Michael thought that he was confused before, but now, he was just lost.

"How does he know about the dream?" He asked.

"Because he was there," Liz answered him. Her eyes never left Max's face. Michael straightened a little.

"How do you know that? I didn't see him there," he said. Liz finally looked at him.

"I brought him there, Michael," she told him. Michael's eyes asked a silent question of why, and Liz answered. "I recognized the name Serena from the FMax escapade," Liz explained. She had told Michael the entire story the night of prom. He nodded his understanding. Max, however, now looked lost. Liz quickly explained. She told him of the night of Gomez and her visitor from the future. She told him about Tess and her importance, and Michael, and Isabel's deaths. Finally, she told him of Serena, the Granolith, and her favor from Kyle. When she was done, Max sat at the foot of her bed, confused, hurt, and most importantly apologetic.

"So you never slept with him?" Liz shook her head no. "I've always known that in my heart, but I just dealt with it. I put it behind me... I even became friends with Kyle. I got together with Tess and I started to feel things for her, and let my anger fall on you..." Max trailed off. He had been looking at his hands up until that point. He let his eyes meet hers. His amber eyes glistened with tears. "I'm feel like I'm in a dream that I can't wake up from ... like I need to be awakened," he concluded. Liz had a flash of their dream.

*~!~* "Our guide, for what?" Liz asked, over the initial shock of meeting THE Serena, the one FMax spoke of.

The others didn't notice the small drift into her reverie. She quickly cleared her head, and focused on what Michael was saying.

"I wanna know how Liz brought you into our dream, and why," he said. He had gotten over the mushy feeling scenario, and he wanted to get on with business. Max wiped his tears and looked at Liz.

"I wanna know how she did it too," he said.

"Well, like I said before, I recognized the name Serena from the FMax thing. Well, I realized that what she may have had to tell us, would effect Max and the others too. I didn't think that Max would listen to me, considering the state that our relationship was in, so I let my mind reach for him through our connection which isn't very strong. Luckily, he was sleep, and I was able to get in with little work," she quickly explained.

"You dream walked him. How did you know how to do it?" Michael asked with interest. He was intrigued with her actions, but saddened when he heard that she still had a connection with Max. The fact that the connection wasn't very strong was redemption for Michael.

"I don't know," Liz said frowning. "I just ... did it without really thinking about what I was doing. It happened so quickly," she replied.

Max stood up, and started pacing. "Ok, so now that we got that out of the way. We need to figure out what to do next. I think that we need to fill the others in, and fix the rift within our group," he said. Since Liz had admitted that she pretended to sleep with Kyle, she, as well as Michael, had noticed a difference in his attitude. It was as if, the old Max had been awakened.

*~!~* "Ask your friends, they know more than you think," Serena answered.

"But Max is as clueless as us!" Liz said upset.

"Those are not the friends in which I speak," Serena said before disappearing completely. *~!~*

Liz shook her head in an effort to clear it. Michael looked at her, his face filled with concern.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing... Max, I think that's a good idea because we definitely need some answers," Liz said.

"Yeah, and she did say that we needed to ask our friends," Michael offered.

"Yeah, but she said that it wasn't us that she was talking about," Max reminded them. "If it isn't me, Tess, Isabel, and certainly not you," he said pointing to Michael, "then she has to be talking about--" Liz interrupted him, her eyes lit with truth.

"Maria, Kyle, and Alex," she said with awe.

Ch. 7

"How can they have the answers? It makes no sense," Michael said unconvinced.

"Think about it Michael. Serena said that our friends know more than we think. When we told her that Max was as clueless as us, she said that she wasn't talking about THEM. Them, Michael. Them being the aliens, so she has to be talking about the humans," Liz rationalized heatedly. The scientific, logical thinking Liz emerged. Michael still had his doubts.

"She could have meant anyone besides them. It could be the dupes, or Pam Troy for goodness sake!" He said pacing.

"But she said that they were friends. Friends, meaning people that we trust. I know that I don't consider the dupes friends, and Pam troy is merely an acquaintance, the others are more than that," Liz pointed out. Michael stopped his movements and made his way over to Liz.

"People that we trust?" He asked her. She nodded. "Well, I don't know about you, but I lost all trust in Maria and Kyle," he said solemnly. Max looked at him, his eyes unblinking. To say that he was shocked would be an understatement. Max had had no clue how much Maria's betrayal had hurt him. He always thought that Michael didn't care. God, he was even acting all chummy with her, and all the while, his bestfriend had been hurting. Awareness of his actions hit him full force, along with the guilt of the way he had acted. He looked back over at Michael. Liz was now rubbing his back, her heart understanding.

"Well, that still leaves Alex," she reasoned. She felt Michael release a deep breath, signaling his defeat. He leaned in closer to Liz, his head now in her chest. Max felt like an intruder, like he didn't belong, as he watched the intimate moment unfold. He wasn't sure about what he felt for Liz, or about her with Michael, but he knew for sure that all was as it should be. He'd never seen them both ... so at home, and the sight was comforting. He cleared his throat, getting their attention.

"It's late, so I'm going to head home," Liz and Michael nodded. "I'll have everyone meet at your apartment at noon so we can discuss everything. Is that all right with you?" He asked Michael. Michael was floored. Max hadn't asked for his opinion on anything, especially lately. He numbly nodded his head, giving Max an affirmative answer. Max smiled and slipped out of the window. Once out, he turned and look back.

"Goodnight guys. Try to get some rest. We have a big day tomorrow," he said with a grin before disappearing over the edge of the balcony. Michael looked at Liz.

"What the hell...?" He asked her. She shrugged her shoulders with a smile dancing upon her face. Maybe all would be well after all.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

~!~Michael's Apartment~!~

"Okay, so we're all here. What was it that you wanted to talk to us about?" Maria asked looking around the small apartment. It had been a while since she was last there and it showed. The once empty walls now contained many paintings of different shapes and sizes, the windows were actually open, and the must surprising of all, it was actually ... clean. Tess spoke, bringing her out of her trance.

"Max? Where there anymore ... developments ... in the past 16 hours?" She asked sweetly. Everyone noticed the pun in her statement and turned to Liz expecting a harsh reaction. Instead, all they found was her laying on the couch, her head in Michael's lap. Michael, however, was glaring at Tess, unaware at the way he was unconsciously stroking Liz's hair. Alex smiled to himself. 'It's about time,' he tought.

Max looked back at Tess, his eyes narrowing. "Well, as a matter of fact, there were," he said. At this, everyone's ears perked up.

"There were? What do you know?" Alex asked.

"It's funny that you should ask that Alex," Liz said sitting up, "because we were about to ask you, Kyle, and Maria, the very same question," she said watching there faces for reactions. Alex's face went blank with shock. He was more than likely sorry for asking the question. Kyle looked like he was about to panic, and Maria... Well, Maria was grinning from ear to ear. Isabel and Tess looked at Michael, Liz, and Max's smug expressions with confusion. 'When did they become so friendly again?' Isabel asked herself.

"Okay, what do you guys know that we don't?" Isabel asked. No one answered. "Alex?" She asked thinking that he would cave. He just looked at her.

"We know why Lizzie was glowing, that's what!" Maria said enthusiastically, breaking the silence that had fallen over the room.

"Maria!" Kyle hissed.

"Kyle, they obviously know something," she said pointing at Liz, Max, and Michael's inquiring faces.

"We don't know that!" Kyle quietly interjected.

"Max? What's going on?" Tess asked wrapping her arms around his waste. Max ignored her, confused with the feelings that were running through him. He didn't have the time to deal with them, so he tried to push them out of his mind. He started by asking another question.

"Does the name Serena ring a bell?" At that, Maria and Kyle stopped their bickering, and Alex's face went pale.

"What did you say?" Alex said hoping that he had heard him wrong.

"You heard him! He said Serena," Maria said happily. She was tired of all the lying. She didn't want to do it anymore. She was also hoping that when they found out the truth, she'd get her bestfriend back, and that was an extremely happy thought. She missed Liz with such a passion, that it hurt.

"Who in the hell is Serena?" Isabel asked looking at Alex. She wanted to know why this woman had such an affect on everyone.

"She's our guardian," he said with a mixture of pride and defeat in his tone.

Ch. 8

'She's our guardian.' It was what rang in everyone's ears, and echoed in everyone's minds. As Isabel thought back over the words, she broke the silence.

"Did I miss something? I mean, one, why do you have a guardian, and two, how do they know her?" Isabel asked pointing at Max, Michael, and Liz.

"Yeah, how do you know Serena?" Maria asked with a quizzical look. "I mean, I know that Future Max said that she was a friend, but she never said anything linking her to us," she said not noticing Tess's confused face. "How did you know that we were hiding something?" She finished. The others exchanged knowing glances, and Tess, again, was left in the dark.

"Future Max? Did I miss something?" She asked the others. Liz sighed and looked around the room for any other questioning looks, and found none. She had told Max, Maria, Michael, and Kyle herself, and from the looks on Alex and Isabel's faces, it looked as if they knew too. From Maria, no doubt. Liz shifted her gaze back to Tess. The girl's eyes darted around the room and she leaned into Max out of nervousness. Liz smiled. For some reason, she was happy for them, and that reason was Michael.

"Will someone please answer my question?" Tess asked. Her anxiety grew. She was no longer the blonde, self-centered, conniving, b!t** that she once was, but a worried girl looking to her friends for guidance. Finally, she looked up at max. The silent question in her eyes, and Max recognized it.

"It's not my place to say," was all he said. Tess was growing more anxious by the minute, and Liz could feel the worry pouring off of the small blonde in waves. It was like she was feeling her emotions. 'Must be another power,' she thought to herself before speaking aloud to ease the girls worry. She only succeeded in making her worry more.

"It's my place to say," Liz said drawing the attention of everyone to her.

Tess's eyes grew wide in fear that Liz would keep her in the dark and Liz picked up on it. She started her story, telling her the story of her visitor from the future. She went on about her connection with Max and Tess's departure. She continued to talk, explaining about Michael and Isabel's deaths and the Granolith. Finally, she arrived to the date with Tess, her speech to Max, and her night with Kyle. When she was done, she looked at the other girl trying to feel her emotions. All she felt was awe, hurt, guilt, and surprisingly, gratitude. The emotions that she was feeling blew her away and she took a sharp intake of breath.

"Are you okay?" Michael asked, sensing her anxiety.

"I'll tell you later," she said smiling at him with tears in her eyes. He didn't think that it was anything to be worried about, so he let it go. Their attention was brought back to Tess as she began to speak.

"I... I'm... I'm sorry," she stuttered out weakly before breaking down into sobs. Max's comforting arms flew around her and Liz was immediately at her side. She rubbed Tess's back in an effort to calm her down. Tess turned to look at her.

"Why are you being so nice after all I've done?" She asked.

"Because everyone needs a second chance," Liz explained. "And because I already let out my frustrations yesterday," she said trying to lighten up the mood.

"I've caused so much pain by being selfish," Tess choked out through sobs. "I'm sorry for you having to go through that because of me," she managed to finish. Liz and the others were blown away. Not only had Tess shown remorse for her 'future' actions, but she also did for her past ones. On top of that, she was apologizing to Liz. She was sorry for breaking her heart.

"I'm sorry," Tess cried again. "I didn't mean for all of this to happen."

"It's okay," Liz answered her. "I guess ... it worked out for the best," she said eyeing Michael.

"What do you mean?" She asked between hiccups.

"Well, this way, you got what you wanted," Liz told her, her eyes on Max. Tess's eyes darkened with guilt.

"Liz... I...," Tess started.

"Let me finish what I was saying," Liz interrupted her. Tess nodded. "At least you got what you wanted, and so did I," she said getting up and joining Michael back on the couch. Tess smiled.

"Okay," she said holding onto Max. She gazed up at him and he gave her a reassuring smile.

"Now that was touching, but I'd really like to know why you guys came to us looking for information," Kyle asked, breaking the mushy vibe.

"Because Serena came to us in a dream," Michael answered. All eyes were on him. "When Liz and I were asleep, Serena came to us, or actually, brought us to her," he explained. He saw all of the confused faces and continued. "We were on what looked like a dream plane. She told us that she was our guide to our future and that she was her to, and I quote, "awaken us as well as the others." She said that we have been blindfolded and it was time for us to see. She told Liz that she was more important than we realize and that you had answers. She also said that Liz and I were the destined and that we should be together always," he finished looking at Alex, Kyle, and Maria. They nodded.

"So it is confirmed. You are the chosen ones," Alex said.

"What are the destined?" Max asked him. Alex just shrugged his shoulders.

"We'll get to that later," he said. "What does that have to do with Max? Where does he fit in all of this?" he asked, looking at the 'king'.

"He was there," Liz answered. Alex's eyes narrowed.

"You said that she brought you and Michael! You said nothing of Max!" He accused.

"Well, that's because she didn't bring Max there. I did," Liz said grinning. Isabel's eyes widened.

"You dream walked him!" Isabel laughed excitingly. She hugged her friend. Maria say back and watched in envy. 'I should be hugging her,' she silently complained. Kyle gave her hand a squeeze, making her smile.

"You brought him onto Serena's dream plane, without her knowing?" Alex asked in wonder. Liz nodded.

"What's wrong Alex?" Isabel asked him.

"It's just that ... that's nearly impossible to do. Liz ... you are strong ... really strong," Alex offered. Liz and the others sat in silence for a while. Michael broke the silence.

"Now back to our initial question, what do you know?" He asked, getting back to business. Maria was the one to answer.

"As you know, Serena is our guardian. She's our protector. We're not human," she stated.

"But how?" Tess asked, having made a full recovery.

"We're getting to that, but first. A history lesson," Alex said, sitting down.

Ch. 9

Author's Note: This chapter has to do with Antarian history. There will be a lot of use of 'different' names. There is a vocab key below.

Zanor: za-nor
Antar: an-tar
Brazia: braze-ia
Sunier: sun-ear
Theous: th-e-us
Swayos: sway-os
Braken: break-in
Masaila: ma-sail-uh
Kaymen: kay-men
Andrinique: an-dre-ni-que

Now on with the show...

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

"As you know, the Zanor Constellation has five ruling planets," Alex started. Maria raised her arm and a hologram of the 'V' constellation appeared. The others watched in awe as Maria displayed one of her powers for the first time. Alex continued. "What you don't know is that Antar isn't the first planet in the constellation," he stopped when he saw the confused faces in the room. He pointed to the tip of the 'V'.

"The first planet is actually Brazia. At least it used to be. Around 200 years ago, that planet used to be the 'Big Cahuna'. It ruled over the rest of the planets, even Antar. We lived in peace, but then, the inhabitants of Brazia... They disappeared. The planet was dead and no one knew why. The air was pure, the water fresh, and the soil prosperous. They just ... vanished. The other planets decided to go on with life. Their first choice was to elect a new government. The King of Antar, Zan's father, decided that Antar should be the next ruling planet, and shortly thereafter, it was. In all reality, Antar was supposed to co-rule with Sunier," Alex then pointed to the hologram. Right beneath Brazia were two planets. On the left, Antar, and Sunier on the right.

"You see, the constellation is arranged in, what I can only describe as ... rank. Brazia was first, followed by Antar and Sunier, then Theous and Swayos. Your father didn't pay attention to the traditions and he preceded to rule the sole ruler of the Zanor Constellation. For a while, it was peaceful so the other planets didn't object. But then ... things changed. There was famine and war, and your father did nothing," Alex explained. Maria dropped her hologram.

"You said that Antar has been ruling for about 200 years, right?" Max asked. Alex nodded. "Then how was the King my father?" He asked.

"Time is different in the Zanor Constellation. We don't age like humans. We have a life expectancy of, like, 900 years," Maria explained. Max and the others nodded, absorbing the information.

"Are there anymore questions, or can we move on?" Alex asked. When no one answered, he pressed on.

"Some inhabitants of the constellation, including some Antarians, disagreed with the way things were. The people believed that the war and famine would end if Sunier ruled also. But the King was arrogant. He wouldn't back down and let it happen. An aliance was formed. It's leader was K'var," Alex stopped and waited for the inevitable response.

"K'var! He's a good guy?" Tess asked in shock.

"Well, not exactly," Alex answered. "At first, it seemed as though he were. He fought for the people's rights, but then ... he changed. He got greedy for the power of a ruler. He no longer wanted Sunier to co-rule, but he wanted to take over the King's position as sole ruler. He lead the people to believe that he was still fighting for them.

Anyway, on Antar, the King wasn't worried of the alliance, but of his heir. He was going to step down and he had no clue as to who he should put on the throne. This was hard for him. Usually, they would just put the eldest child on the throne, but that was the problem. He had three. Triplets. Two boys, Zan and Rath, and a girl by the name of Vilandra." The room looked as if it was shell shocked. Liz felt the happiness and confusion in the room.

"Wait! So you mean to tell me that Max, Isabel, and I are triplets?" Michael asked excitedly.

"Yeah," Alex said nodding.

"But ... how? The book, the message...." Isabel stuttered through tears.

"We haven't figured that one out yet," Kyle offered. Isabel ran into Michael's awaiting arms.

"I always knew that you were my brother," she said between sobs. Max came up, and wrapped his arms around his sister and brother. The others watched the reunion. When they finally broke apart, Alex spoke.

"Do you want to stop there?"

"No," the three said in unison. The others laughed.

"I guess what they say about triplets being in tune to each other is true," Maria said through giggles.

"Okay, you can continue," Max said.

"He finally decided that Zan was the one he would leave not only the planet, but the entire constellation too. "

"Talk about pressure," Max mumbled.

"Yeah, well, he didn't have to do it alone. A young woman was chosen to be queen. Her name was Ava. She along with the triplets were to rule together as the Antarian Royal Four." Tess smiled and snuggled closer to max. "Anyway, back on Sunier, they were trying to go on with life outside of the rebellion. The King also chose his successor. He chose his eldest child, his daughter Andrinique. She was to be future queen. Her betrothed Kaymen was to rule with her as king. Her second in command Masaila was betrothed to the Prince, and Andrinique's brother. Together, they were to rule Sunier as the Sunierian Royal Four. The night that the weddings, there was an attack. K'var made his move. He personally saw that the Antarian Four were killed, along with their king. Back on Sunier, K'var's second, Nicholas, made sure that the Sunierian Four and king were killed. K'var wanted to insure that the Sunierians never came into power." Alex said bitterly.

"So that's when we died? On our wedding day?" Max asked through clenched teeth.

"Yeah," Kyle answered.

"The seers, who are like prophets who see the future, decided that they needed to send both sets of Royals to earth. They decided that the best way to claim peace was to have Antar co-rule with Sunier." Alex finished.

"So that's why we're here? To find the other Royal's and to combine forces? To over through K'var?" Michael asked, heatedly. He was upset that it was all the King's ... his father's..... fault. None of it would ever have happened if he wasn't so damn stubborn... 'Why does that sound familiar?,' he heard a voice say. It sounded like Liz. He looked at her, and she smiled. 'We'll talk about it later,' she told him telepathically. He just smiled. 'Gotta love her powers', he though to himself. 'I heard that!,' was the response. With attention was peaked by Maria's voice.

"Basically," she said, answering his earlier question.

"Okay, so we know about our history, but that doesn't explain how you are aliens. And where are the other four?" Max asked. Maria, Kyle, and Alex exchanged glances.

"You know don't you?" Michael accused.

"Of course," Kyle retorted. "Meet Kaymen, Masaila, and Braken," he said pointing to himself, Maria, and then Alex.

"You're the four!?!?" Liz exclaimed in shock.

"Actually, we're three of the four," Maria corrected. "I'm Queen Andrinique's second and bestfriend. Alex was her brother, the Prince, and Kyle.... Well, Kyle was Kaymen ... the soon to be king," she further clarified.

"Well, that explains why you have a guardian," Isabel said in shock.

"Yeah, well, Serena isn't just our guardian, she's also a seer," Alex said.

"Okay, so you guys are royalty?" Liz asked, suddenly feeling insignificant. They nodded. "Okay, so when do we get to meet this queen of yours?" She asked.

"You already have," Maria said through sudden tears. "You all have."

"We have? Who is she?" Liz asked, suddenly knowing the answer.

"It's you, Liz. You're Queen Andrinique."

Maria's POV & Lost Conversations

"Liz!", Michael's husky voice called out to her.

"Michael, I am not in the f⊕*&^#! mood," she said harshly and turned around to face him. Her features softened as she saw him standing near the door with a sympathetic look upon his face.

"Liz, I'm sorry... I'm so sorry," Michael said, pulling her into a hug. Liz wrapped her arms around him and cried.

"Max and Tess..." he whispered, as if she didn't know.

I stood in the shadows and watched. I watched, as my life fell apart. I saw him lead her to the quad. They sat down and ... talked. Michael NEVER talked to me. Soon. Soon, I'll have nothing left. No, Michael. No, Liz. I hope that it's worth it. I felt a hand on my shoulder, but I didn't turn around. I knew who it was. Kyle.

"It has begun," he said. I shrugged off his hand, and turned and walked away. I know that it was wrong, but I hurt. I know he feels it too. He loved Tess. He actually told her that he loved her as his sister. What a crock! But this is as it should be. She should be with Max. Michael... He should be with Liz. God, I love them. I only hope that they forgive me.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

Why am I doing this? Why am I doing this? I shouldn't be doing this. Presently, my ear is glued to the back doors of the Crashdown. How sad. I know! Wait, is that Liz? Hold on.

"Mikey, I just don't know what to do with him! I know that it's over, and I accept that, well actually, I made that happen, but.... I don't know!"

Mikey? Damn! That's a development! It's only a matter of time before he goes to her. I know I shouldn't do it, but I miss him so much.

"Okay, Liz. How 'bout we grab some ice cream, and head to my place? We'll watch Alien Resurrection, and you can pretend that the monster is the Prick,"

I had to fight back a snicker. Prick? That must be Liz's doing. Man, if they only knew.

"Chocolate Fudge Brownie?"

Not with the ice cream!

"Of course! We'll leave after our shift."

No, no, no! It's too soon! Think, Maria. Think!

"Okay, thanks Mikey."

Footsteps. Footsteps. Okay, she's coming. Light's. Camera. Action!

Okay, she's smiling. Why does he have to make her happy? God!

"One minute she's hostile, the next, she's a member of the Mickey Mouse Club," I said out loud. Why? I. Don't. Know! But please Michael. Humor me. Don't jump to her defense. Give me this little time.

"She's been through a lot."

Damn! Okay, think!

"OK, 'Spaceboy'. Calm down. It was just an observation," I lied. I love Liz! God, I do. "So.... How 'bout I come over after my shift?" I asked with a suggestive smile.

"Sure. Liz will be over too." He ignored me! What am I? Chopped Liver?! I know, I know! They belong together. It's fate. Who am I to stand in the way of fate? Don't say it. Don't say it.

"Really? Ummm ... that's great..... Ummm ... why?" God! I said it! Damn mouth!

"She needed a friend."

No! I want to be her friend for as long as I can possibly muster! Why not come to me? Fate! I hate that damn word.

"Well, why you? She has me! And even Alex! Why you?" Yeah, just let your jealousy show through, why don't ya? Ugh!

"Because, you haven't been there! None of you have!" Ouch! That hurt. 'I was giving you an open door!' My heart screamed out to him!

"I've ALWAYS have been there! How DARE you suggest otherwise!" I said, storming out of the room. Have I mentioned how much I hat my mouth?

I'm at Kyle's now. Why, I don't know.

"Why are we doing this?" I ask sadly.

"Because we have to," he says, just as sad. God he loved her. He came and hugged me. God, it felt so good to be comforted. The he kissed me. No! Yes! No! I love Michael! Then why does this feel right? I'm confused. I got to go, got to go!

I left him sitting on the couch. By himself, I might add. Why? I don't know.

I'm at Michael's. I just walk in. He's about to kiss her. My heart aches, but I pretend that I don't see.

"Michael, I was wrong, and I'm sorry," I said, walking in and sitting next to him on the couch. Just a couple more hours with him. A couple more.

"No problem," he said.

Liar! I screamed. Well, I did, but nothing came out.

"Hey Liz," I said, looking at her. God, I'm going to miss her. I hope that she forgives me one day. I know that she'll take his side. She has to.

"Hi," Liz responded with a forced smile. It's happening already.

"So what are we watching?" I asked, leaning into Michael's side. Just a couple of more hours. God, I love him.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

"Michael, there's ummm... there's ummm something that I need to tell you," I stuttered, nervously. I have to do this. I have to do this.

His whole mood shifted. "What is it, Maria?" He asked, worried.

Does he know? God! This is so hard!

"I uhhhh.... I screwed up," I said, my eyes filled with tears. Don't cry, don't cry. You're doing this for him.

"Maria, what is it?" He asked, and grabbed my hand. I'm going to miss this. Michael, I love you. I start to cry.

"I uhh... I slept with Kyle," I said quietly. Please, don't have heard me. I don't want to do this! I cry harder.

"YOU WHAT!?!" He asked angrily.

"It was after our fight, and I wasn't thinkin' clearly. Kyle was there and...." I sniffled. No! I didn't! I would never! Please!

"Then you came to my house like nothing ever happened. You even apologized!" He said, his eyes now filled with tears also. "I loved you! How could you!?" He asked, his voice high.

He loved me! My heart soared.

"I came over to tell you!" I lied.

"But you didn't!" Michael offered, heatedly.

"I was afraid of what would happen if I told you," I cried out. I didn't want this to happen!

"That's why you asked me here, isn't it! You wanted to be in a public place when you dropped the news! You wanted to have witnesses!" Michael yelled accusingly at me. He took one last look at me before getting up and leaving the restaurant.

We're here because it was the only way I could do this.

"It's okay, Ria," Alex says coming up to our table. I did the right thing. Or did I?

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

"Come on Kyle! How could you? You knew that she was with Michael, and you did it anyway," Liz yelled. Her we go.

"Liz, what are you mad at him for? He did nothing wrong! I was the one, ok? Me!" I yelled at her. She wasn't talking to me. It was the only way that I could get her to speak to me. I want my friend.

"Maria, I can't even look at you right now, so don't even try to talk to me," she said without looking at me.

Liz, please don't shut me out! No! Why me? Fate! I HATE that damn word! Liz turned, and looked me in the eye.

"You know what? You did a really shitty thing. Do you have any idea how heartbroken that man is? How could you?" Liz said coldly.

Yes, I know! He feels like I do now! I HURT inside! I did it for you, Liz. I did it for you both!

"Well, maybe I'm tired of thinking about the 'Royal Four', all of the time. We're so caught up in making them happy, we never make ourselves happy too," I lied. What am I talking about? I AM the Royal four! Ugh! "Yes, I'm sorry for hurting Michael, but I did what I had to do." God, am I sorry for hurting him. I love him!

"What you had to do!?!? So you HAD to sleep with Kyle?" Liz asked furiously.

If you only knew.

"Liz, stop it! Michael and I haven't been together for a long time, and you know that. He's always shutting me out, and I got fed up with it! Kyle's been there for a long time, but I always said that I would make things work with Michael. Our fight, that day, was the last straw!" I lied again, although, some of it is the truth. Stop it with the lies! Lies!!

"Then why did you try to make up with him again?" Liz asked, confused.

"I didn't try to make up with him. I tried to tell him the truth," I said. I had nothing to make up for. "I know why I did what I did, and I never wanted to hurt him, even though he always managed to hurt me." Loving him has hurt me.

I just..."

Love me? That isn't in the script! Again with the lies!

"Took advantage of the situation," Liz finished, disgusted. "Kyle, how could you do this? And after you helped me save them from pain?" Kyle looked up at her.

"What do you mean?" Kyle asked, confused. Liz's face softened, realizing her error.

"Liz, don't!" I shouted at her. "Don't even try to turn this around on him," I pleaded. I know that he already knows the truth, but...

"You wanna know why we pretended to sleep together Kyle? It was to make Max fall out of love with me. If Max and I were together, Isabel and Michael would have died," Liz explained. Kyle looked shocked.

The man can act his ass off. Damn! I will get through this.

"But... I... I thought that you were just trying to get back at Evans..." Kyle stammered.

"No! I was trying to save lives! I was trying to save Michael, but with the heartache that you just caused him, he'd be better off dead," Liz said bitterly to me and Kyle.

I flinched. Without what I just did.... He WOULD be dead!

"Liz," I started. I love you! In two lifetimes, I've always loved you!

"Don't even bother!" Liz shouted, grabbing her purse and jacket. "I hope it was worth it, you guys. 'Cause you just lost a couple of friends," with that, Liz left the Valenti home, and slammed the door behind her.

"No!" I screamed. Kyle came and hugged me. "Get off of me! Get off!" I yelled. He looked hurt at my words.

"We did the right thing," he said.

"The right thing? We did the right thing?" I yelled at him. I laugh cynically. "If this is the right thing, why does it hurt so fu**ing much?!" I yelled, grabbing my purse. I run out of his house.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

"Ummm... hello Liz."

"Max." Liz replied shortly.

"Hey Michael," I said looking at him.

"Whatever," Michael said back.

Ouch! I still love him, but things have changed. It's been two months, and I've changed. I'm actually with Kyle now! I know!! We was in pain, and I was in pain ... it just ... clicked.

"So Liz, is there something that you wanted?"

"As a matter of fact, yes there is," Liz started angrily. "I want to know why in the hell you guys are sitting in MY restaurant talking to them," she said pointing at Kyle and Maria.

THEM! She called us them! Do you have any idea how much that hurts! I love her! I love them both!

"Because they're our friends."

"I thought that you cut off all communication to humans!" Liz accused.

"No, you got that one wrong Liz. They cut off all communication with you Liz. You've changed," I answered her. I just wanted to talk to her. This ... ugh! I need her!

"Calm down, Liz" Michael whispered to her.

"I will NOT calm down, Mikey! Look at this!" Liz continued in a rage.

"Mikey?" Tess asked laughing. Shut the hell up Tess!!

"WHAT THE HELL IS EVERYONE LOOKING AT!?!?" Liz asked fed up with the stares. Michael pointed to her hands.

It's started!! It's time!!

"Liz, why are your hands glowing?" he whispered in her ear.

"I... I don't know. What's happening to me?" She asked him with tears in her eyes.

Your awakening. I'm finally going to get my bestfriend back. God, I've missed her. Please let her understand.

From Ch. 9

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

Ch. 10

"Liz!" Maria said running to her fallen friend. She had just admitted that Liz was their queen, and she knew that it would come as a shock, but she wasn't counting on such a devastating response. After Maria made her revelation, Liz's eyes went blank and then rolled into the back of her head. Only the whites of her eyes were showing. Before Maria even made it to Liz, Michael was by her side trying his best to bring her back to reality. Maria was followed by a worried Alex and scared Isabel. Max pushed his way through the crowd, prepared to heal his friend. He laid his hand on her head and tried to form a connection with her.

"It's not working!" He said, letting out a frustrated cry.

"What do you mean, it's not working!?!?" Michael cried, his eyes filling with tears.

"I mean I can't get through!" Max yelled, trying again.

"Let me try," Michael said, pushing Max out of the way.

"Michael, you can't heal," Maria reminded him.

"I have to try! I can't lose her!" Michael cried out in agony.

"It won't work," Tess said.

"She's right," a voice said walking through the shadows.

"Serena!" Maria said running to her. "What's wrong with Liz?" Maria asked desperately.

"Nothing," Serena stated simply.

"How can you say that? Look at her!" Michael yelled angrily.

"Michael, calm down. Liz is perfectly all right. She's just remembering," Serena said in a calm voice. The others quieted, seemingly calming down. Serena continued.

"She has a lot of memories to account for. It's just catching up to her," she explained. Michael and the others let out sighs of relief.

"So she's going to be okay?" Michael asked, sounding like a little boy who's puppy just got sick. Serena smiled.

"Yeah, she's going to be fine," she assured them.

"What do we do now?" Kyle asked, speaking for the first time in a while.

"We wait," Serena told them, sitting down.

~!~Liz's Mind~!~

*~!~*Flash*~!~*
The room was large and fit for a queen. There were bookshelves and dressers adorning the corners of the room. A vanity table rested near another door. The carpet was a beautiful pale blue color. It felt like velvet under Liz's toes. In the center of the room, there was a large four post bed. Curtains were draped over it, making a canopy.

On the bed, there was a beautiful woman. She definitely wasn't human, but she was beautiful, nether the less. The woman's eyes were what held Liz's attention. They were ... breath taking. They were large, deep, and almond shaped. As Liz continued to peer into their depths, she swore that she could see the woman's soul, and it slowly called her to it. Liz broke eye contact and looked in the woman's arms. She held a little bundle with such care and gentleness. It looked as if she were keeping a well guarded secret.

As Liz began to walk closer to the woman, the woman looked up at her. Liz stopped dead in her tracks and looked down at her feet. They were extremely tiny. The woman smiled at her and looked back down towards the bundle in her arms.

"Ani onikwi za lien," she spoke. The words seemed to vibrate around the room. The words weren't English, but Liz understood them with a quickness.

Come meet your brother, Andrinique.

It's what the woman had said. Liz continued to walk, until she finally reached the bed. She sat down on the edge and peered into the woman's arms. For the first time, she saw a child. A newborn baby, and a smiled reached her lips.

"Se les ve az kun," Liz said, her voice sounding like a two year olds. She spoke the words with ease. She had meant to ask the woman the question in English, but it didn't turn out that way.

What is his name?

That's what she had asked. The woman smiled and looked at her daughter.

"Ni az le kun Nebrak," the woman replied.

He is to be called... Braken.

*~!~*Flash*~!~*
"Andrini," a voice called. Again, the words were not spoken in English. Liz looked around her and found that she was now in a garden. Orange and blue blossoms filled her sights and the sweet smell of honey tickled her nose.

"Andrinique," she heard the voice again and turned. She saw a seven year old boy looking at her. He had long brown hair pulled into a neat ponytail. He was dressed in garments trimmed with gold. And his eyes ... his eyes were just like their fathers. "Where did that thought come from?' Liz asked herself.

"Yes, Braken?" She asked. She immediately knew who this boy was. He was the baby boy in her mother's arms. Her brother, Braken. He was Alex.

"I've been looking everywhere for you, Andrini. It's time to get ready for the ball!" He said in irritation.

"Did Serena send you out here to get me?" She asked, referring to their keeper.

"Yup," was all he offered. "So hurry up," he finished. Liz got up and followed the little boy out of the garden.

*~!~*Flash*~!~*
Again Liz found herself in a garden, but she wasn't alone. There was a little girl with her. The girl appeared to be around fifteen years in age. She had long, flowing, blonde hair that was kept in place by silver clips. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of emerald green. They were sitting on a bench near a fountain.

"I don't want you to go!" The girl complained.

"I don't want to go, Masaila. I want to stay here with you, but I HAVE to go to Antar with my father," Liz said. 'Masaila ... that's Maria. These must be my memories of Sunier,' Liz realized.

"I know, but I'm going to miss you," Masaila whined.

"I'll miss you terribly, also," Liz said, hugging her friend. "I'll be back in a couple of months," Masaila started to cry. "Masaila, don't cry. You know that I have to do this. I have to be ready to take my father's place as ruler," she reminded her friend. Masaila nodded.

"I know," she said through sniffles. "Just promise me that you'll ALWAYS be my friend, even when you're Queen."

"Masaila! How could you think otherwise? I'll see you everyday, especially when I'm Queen! I need help ruling, you know!" Liz comforted her friend. Liz comforted Maria. She really missed her. "Best friends forever, Masaila. NEVER believe otherwise!"

"Really?" Masaila asked, her tears dying down a bit.

"Really!" Liz answered her.

"I love you so much, Andrini," Masaila said, hugging her friend.

*~!~*Flash*~!~*
"Crowned Princess Andrinique, I'd like you to meet the Crowned Prince, Zan," Serena said. They were on Antar, on business. Her father was to discuss peace negotiations with the King of Antar. She, along with the King's children, most importantly Zan, was to sit in on the negotiations to witness how they worked. She extended her hand, and Zan kissed it, slightly bowing.

"It's a pleasure to meet you," he said. Liz smiled, looking past him. Her gaze fixed itself on the boy standing behind Zan. Zan followed her gaze and introduced her.

"Princess, I'd like you to meet my brother Rath, and my sister, Vilandra," he said. Rath made his way over to her, and followed his brother's lead. He kissed her hand and smiled.

"It's nice to meet you," he said. 'You have no idea!' Liz said to herself.

"Likewise," she said. Vilandra appeared, and smiled at the other princess.

"Hello," she said. Liz smiled.

"It's nice to meet all of you," Liz said to them, but her gaze was still fixed on Rath. He looked back at her.

"Shall we?" Serena's voice inquired.

*~!~*Flash*~!~*
"Father, I am seventeen! I hardly think that I'm ready for marriage," Liz argued at the Palace. She was back on Sunier. It was two years later.

"Daughter, I am not going to argue with you. You will be taking my place soon, and you can't do it alone. Kaymen is a fine young man-," her father started.

"Why can't Braken rule with me?" Liz pleaded.

"You know that the people will never accept him as King, Andrinique. The king must be married to the queen, and I doubt that you want to marry-" again he was interrupted by his daughter.

"Don't finish that thought, father. The thought is ... repulsive. I shall marry Kaymen, but only for the sake of my planet," Liz stated before leaving the room.

"That's my girl," her father said when she closed the door behind her.

*~!~*Flash*~!~*
It was the day of the wedding, and Liz was miserable. She didn't want to marry Kaymen, it just felt wrong. As she walked towards the alter, the door swung open with a loud bang. She turned to look at the invader.

"K'var sends his regards," the man said before raising his arm and emitting a powerful blast. It hit Liz dead in the gut. Kaymen, Braken, and Masaila rushed to her side.

"Andrini!" Braken cried. He held his dying sister, and queen, in his arms.

"How cute!" The man said. Masaila rose to her feet, blinded by her tears.

"Nicholas! What do you want from us!" She yelled.

"You dead, of course," was the last thing Liz heard before the darkness took her.

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

"So how did you guys get here?" Tess asked, sitting on the floor next to Max. The others had been talking more about their history for the last hour. Serena had answered most of there questions. After they realized that the only thing that they could do for Liz was to wait, Michael laid her down in the bedroom. Now, the just killed time. Everyone noticed how Tess's question was left unanswered. Serena just avoided.

"Yes, Serena. Tell us how," Liz said coming into the room, startling everyone.

Ch. 11

"Kua Nasere. Ens vam pas." It was Liz speaking the words, but they weren't in English. They were in some other type of language. The Pod Squad looked to the others for reassurance. Serena was smiling.

"She's not used to the English language. She's been remembering in Sunierian, so she has to adapt. She can understand what you say, but she can only respond in Sunierian. She should be back to normal in a couple," Serena clarified to the others. They nodded their understanding.

"Lizzie," Michael said, rushing to her side. He grabbed her and pulled her into a fierce hug. "Don't you ever scare me like that again," he whispered in her ear. Liz pulled back to look at him.

Liz shook her head no, smiling. Michael smiled back before leaning in for a kiss. At first, the kiss was soft and sweet, and it dictated every ounce of love that they felt for each other. Then, Michael deepened the kiss. He trailed his tongue along her lower lip, silently asking for entrance. Liz didn't hesitate to oblige. As their tongues dueled for supremacy, and their connection soared, they forgot about everything around them. Michael pulled back and looked at Liz with a huge grin on his face.

"You thought that I was a sexy man in our past life, huh?" He asked wiggling his eye brows. Liz blushed.

"How could I not?" She asked with difficulty making Michael blush. Liz laughed and stepped away from him, noticing the others in the room again. Her blush deepened.

The others had been watching the entire situation with wonder. Seeing them together brought smiles to everyone. When Liz stepped away, everyone averted their gazes, acting as if they weren't watching the scene. Knowing that they were failing miserably, Maria cleared her throat.

"So... I guess you have your memory of Sunier back... Your Highness," Maria said the last part quietly, but everyone heard it. Liz heard the sadness in her statement. It was no mystery that Maria felt that she was no longer worthy of calling her by her name. She was simply an advisor, nothing more.

Maria's head was bowed when Liz stepped in front of her. Liz lifted Maria's chin gently, and peered into her eyes.

"Best friends forever, Maria. NEVER believe otherwise!" Liz said in Sunierian through tears. Maria's eyes closed in happiness. She remembered the words that were said in the garden on Sunier, and it couldn't have made her any happier.

"Really?" Masaila asked, her tears picking up force.

"Always!" Liz answered her, pulling her into a hug. "I've missed you. It's been worse than that time I went to Antar," she whispered in her ear. Again, she spoke in Sunierian. Maria started to laugh.

"Me too, Andrini. Me too." Liz smiled and let go of the other girl. Wiping off her tears, she made her way over to Alex.

"You know, you were a really precious baby," she joked, looking at her brother. Her words began to sound English. Alex smiled, his eyes filled with unshed tears.

"Don't you know it!" He laughed.

"Yeah," Liz said. "I do," she finished. "I love you Nebrak," she said, saying his name in Sunierian.

"I love you too, Andrini," he said. Liz turned and addressed the others in the room, but spoke directly to Serena.

"Well, Nasere. Answer Tess's question," she said sitting down next to Michael on the couch. Serena smiled when she noted Liz's tone and choice of words. She called her by her Sunierian name, meaning that she was reminding Serena of her status as Queen. Her tone said that it was an order, not a request. Serena took a deep breath before speaking.

"After the Royal deaths, the Seers made a prophecy. They said that in order for the Zanor Constellation to live in peace, Sunier and Antar would have to share authority. They determined that a chosen royal, from both Antar and Sunier, would serve together as The Destined," Serena stopped at the sound of gasps.

"That's Liz and me," Michael said. Serena nodded and continued.

"The Seers knew about Andrinique being the Sunierian Chosen Royal, but they didn't know who the Antarian Chosen was. They decided to be safe and sent all of the Antarian Royal Four to Earth. They sent them in pods and surrounded the Granolith with them. You see, the Sunierian Royal Four were in pods placed in the Granolith. Actually, only three of them were. The Seers as well as the people of the Zanor constellation knew the prophecy. They knew that Andrini was the chosen ruler, and they couldn't risk K'var interfering, so they separated her from the others. They told the people that they were sending all of the royals together, but in all reality, they only sent seven. They all believed that Andrini was in the Granolith as well," Serena explained.

"So that's why K'var wants the Granolith so badly. He believes that Liz was sent in it," Max concluded.

"Yes, and no. Yes, he thinks that Andrini was sent in it, but that's not the only reason why he wants it. He believes that he can determine how to kill Andrinique and beat the prophecy by studying her pod. Your pods have your DNA inscribed in them. The DNA shows your weaknesses as well as your strengths," Serena told them. The others absorbed the information.

"How did I get here?" Liz asked in perfect English. Serena dreaded answering her. It would reveal that Liz's life, in fact, was a lie. It would surly break her heart to know that everyone she trusted, had lied to her.

"As you know, we sent the ship containing the Royals in 1947. Liz, you didn't get here until 1954," Liz's eyes widened with shock. "You weren't sent in a pod. You were actually implanted into a Sunierians womb and born here on earth. We did it this way to insure your safety," Serena spoke.

"How is that possible? That would mean that it took me thirty years to mature. And ... and that my mother is an alien!" Liz countered.

"Nancy Parker is in fact... a Sunierian. As is Jeff Parker. They were sent here as your guardians and your protector," Serena informed her.

"No! My parents are human! My father was born to Jeff and Claudia Parker in 1954..." Liz started to sob.

"No, Liz. Claudia was a human who found Nancy and Jeff after their ship landed. She found them in 1954 and she helped them," Serena told the broken girl.

"But... No! They've lied to me!" Liz whimpered, leaning onto Michael for support. He stroked her hair lovingly. Liz continued to cry.

"I'm sorry Your Highness, but we did it for your own protection," Serena tried to explain.

'Your Highness'. That was right. She was the Queen. She had to be strong. Liz wiped off her tears and straightened her body. She looked at Serena and asked, "What's else?"

Serena smiled at the girls ... no correction ... her Queen's strength. "After the Sunierians emerged from their pods in the Granolith, I placed them into families, disguising myself as a social worker. They were adopted into their current families," Serena said. Liz nodded her understanding, urging Serena to continue.

"The other three were placed close to you, and they grew up along with you. It was what we wanted. Then the day came when you were to meet the Antarian Four. We didn't plan on it happening as it happened, but we were glad that it did. It meant that we didn't have to get involved. When I say 'we', I mean the protectors. Anyway, when Zan healed you, we thought that it was fate. We thought that Zan was the Antarian Chosen. The other half to the prophecy. It made perfect since. He was the Crowned Prince of Antar, and you were the Crowned Princess of Sunier ... it was kismet. We were sure that as you formed a bond, you would awaken. It wasn't until Masaila informed me of your visitor from the future, did we realize that it wasn't Zan. The future was screwed up because you were together. It was then that we realized that Antar needed Zan to be with Ava, and you to be with the next in line, which was Rath. Masaila and Kaymen were with Ava and Rath at the time, so we came up with a plan to set up Ava with Zan, and Rath with you. Kaymen told Ava that he felt for her as a sister, and it worked. Zan and Ava were together at prom. You and Rath, however, were more difficult to push together, but we knew that it would work out when we saw you together in the quad at prom. It wasn't enough, though. Your connection wasn't deep enough, so we gave you another push. It was decided that Masaila was to push Rath to you and we decided that betrayal was the best way. It worked, and you two got together," Serena finished with a sigh.

"Wait, wait, wait! Maria never slept with Kyle?" Michael asked. Maria shook her head 'no'. "And you did this to get me with Liz?" Michael asked her. She nodded. "Why?"

"Because Liz would do it if she had to," Maria said. Liz smiled. She had done it before, and she remembered how much it hurt.

"Thank you, and I'm sorry" she said, hugging Maria.

"No problem," Maria said, hugging her back. "I'm sorry too," she said. The girls pulled back and Maria hugged Michael. "I never wanted to hurt you," she whispered.

"I know," he said. They smiled at each other, and then went to their significant others. Michael, to Liz, and, Maria to Kyle.

"What happens now?" Isabel asked.

"We prepare to fight," Serena said.

Ch. 12

"So what exactly can you guys do?" Isabel asked the Sunierian Four. It was two days after Liz received her memories. They all decided that it would be best to take a break to absorb the information. Presently, they were all at the Quarry. It was time to get to work on their powers. Serena was there to help them with their training.

At Isabel's question, Maria and Liz started to grin. Liz, having all of her memories of Sunier back, knew exactly what powers she had. She just hadn't used them yet.

"Well, Isabel. Would you like a demonstration?" Liz asked. Isabel, along with the others, nodded anxiously. At their confirmation, Liz turned to Maria.

"Okay Maria. You are going to be my partner in crime for this one," Liz said happily. Maria nodded enthusiastically.

"What are we going to do?" She asked.

"Remember that prank we pulled on Braken for telling on us when we snuck out of the Palace?" Liz asked mischievously. Maria's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.

"Oh! That's good!" Maria said laughing. Alex, Serena, and Kyle knew what they were about to do and started laughing uncontrollably.

"What's so funny?" Isabel asked Alex.

"Nothing," Alex said in between chuckles. Isabel looked a little apprehensive, as did the others. Michael, getting a little impatient, broke the giggle fest.

"Can we just get on with it already?!" He asked.

"Okay, okay!" Liz said smiling. She reached out to Max with her mind. When she found what she was looking for, she looked over at Maria and silently gave her the needed information. Maria smiled and closed her eyes in concentration. A few seconds later she opened them. Alex and Kyle started laughing again.

"Maria, what did you do? I don't see anything different," Max said, not looking at any of the others.

"Ummm... Max?" Michael said looking at him and pointing.

"What?" He asked confused before looking down at himself. His eyes widened in shock. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!" He screamed trying to cover himself up. Isabel, Michael, and Tess started giggling.

"Scooby Doo Speedo's? Really Max, I thought that you had more taste," Maria teased. Max's face began turning a deadly shade of crimson, and Maria let the hallucination go. Everyone, but Max, was on the ground laughing at this point. When the laughter finally died down a little, they turned to Max to gauge his reaction. His face was hauntingly neutral. Finally, he spoke.

"One. That was really screwed up! Two. How in the hell did you strip me of my clothes without touching me?" He asked hysterically.

"Relax, girlfriend," Maria said. "We didn't take any of your clothes off. It was a hallucination... a mind warp if you will," she explained. Max calmed down a little.

"Then how did you know what I was wearing underneath my clothes?" He asked unconvinced.

"You mean you really were wearing Scooby Doo underwear. Speedo's at that?" Michael asked laughing. Max shot him a glare. Liz spoke up.

"I'm afraid that that part was my doing. I kindda read your mind and sent the information to Maria telepathically," she explained. "And as for that being really mean, which it was, you had it coming. After how much of a jerk you've been, you deserved. Isn't payback a bitch?" Liz asked giggling.

"That was so...," Max started. They looked on in fear. "cool," he finished, laughing. The others let out sighs of relief.

"So what else can you do?" Tess asked. Maria answered first.

"Well, I can make people see things that aren't really there. Ummm... I can do molecular alteration, and throw energy beams.... And I can.... Oh! I can through up a nifty shield!" She said energetically. Isabel nodded.

"So you basically have the same powers that Tess does?" Isabel asked.

"Well, not exactly. I can create an image of like a person, or a place, whereas Tess only makes you see things that aren't there. My image IS actually there. But everything Tess can do, I can do," she explained.

"So basically, you're stronger than I am," Tess asked intrigued. Maria nodded. "Do you think that you can help me with my powers?"

"No problem! Let's go over there," Maria said pointing to a rock. Tess nodded and followed her.

"Okay, Alex. What can you do?" Isabel asked her boyfriend. He smiled.

"Well, I can do everything that you can do, but stronger. Like... I can dream walk someone who is still awake. I can also produce a shield like Max, Maria, Kyle, and Liz. And I throw energy," he concluded.

"Okay, since our powers are similar, you want to help me out?" Isabel asked through awe. Alex just smiled and pulled her towards the cars.

"Okay, that just leaves Liz and Kyle," Max said.

"And Serena," Michael reminded him.

"So what can you guys do?" Max asked.

"Well, I can move things with my mind, do molecular alteration, throw energy, and mind warp," Kyle let out in a rush.

"So your powers are like Maria's and Tess's," Michael said. Kyle nodded.

"Kyle, maybe you should go work with them," Liz told him. He nodded and made his way towards the girls.

"Liz?" Michael asked, waiting for her to tell them what powers she had.

"Well, I can mind warp, dream walk, do molecular alteration, ummm... I can move things with my mind, heal...." Liz said.

"You can do a lot," Max said, impressed.

"Wait, I'm not done yet," Liz said, not noticing the boys' shocked expressions. "I can read people's minds and emotions, I have the shield, as you already know, and I can astral project," Liz finished.

"Astral project?" Michael asked. Liz nodded.

"That's what you did to save my life in New York, right?" Max asked. She nodded again.

"So you basically have all of our powers, plus some?" Michael asked intrigued.

"Yup. I guess you can say that I'm the strongest one because of my status as the Sunierian Chosen," she included.

"So shouldn't I have these powers too?" Michael asked. Liz looked to Serena for the answer.

"I suppose so. They just haven't developed yet because we didn't know that it was you. Work on it with Liz. I'll work with Max," Serena told them. They nodded, and then they were off. Serena looked at Max.

"Let's get started, shall we?" She said, and Max nodded.

This is going to be a long day.

Ch. 13

"Mikey, if you don't mind, I'd like to ride home with Maria and Alex. We have a lot of catching up to do," Liz told Michael as he mounted his bike.

The sun was just going down and they were finally leaving the quarry after a long day of training. Liz had noticed that the Antarian four were really getting stronger. It was amazing to watch as their powers developed.

Michael nodded his head in understanding. Just have them drop you off at my place when you're done, kay?" He said quickly kissing her before pulling his helmet on.

Liz smiled in appreciation. "Thanks, Love. I'll see you later," she said getting into the back-seat of Maria's Jetta. Michael quickly nodded before speeding off into the sunset.

"Ya ready?" Maria shouted to Alex as he finished kissing Isabel good-bye. She had already said her 'laters' to Kyle. "Hmmm...." she reminisced.

"Yeah let's go," he said, cutting into her thoughts. Maria smiled before starting the car. Five minutes into the trip, and through endless small talk, Maria pulled over. Alex and Liz looked at her in confusion as she got out.

"Why'd we stop?" Liz asked following her.

"I've missed you," Maria cried pulling her friend into a tight hug.

"Me too, Maria," Liz said hugging her back.

"Me three," Alex said running up to them and hugging them both. They all started to chuckle.

"OK, I'm done," Maria said as they pulled apart. "We can go now," she said getting back into the car. Liz and Alex shook their heads. 'That's 'Ria for you,' Liz thought as she followed suit.

"But you have to tell me ALL about you and Michael, girlfriend!", Maria said with a smile.

"You mean, 'Mikey'," Alex corrected, saying Mikey with a dreamy look in his eye. Liz and Maria started laughing. She was glad that they seemed so open about her relationship with Michael, but she was worried about how Maria was really taking it.

"Maria ... really. Does it bother you?", Liz asked questioningly.

Maria frowned in thought and shook her head. "At first it did, you know? Me being so into him... But then I grew up and moved on. I realized that we weren't meant to be. I saw that he needed you ... and that you needed him too. And besides, I have Kyle now, and I really love him. He's everything that I could ever want and more," she finished with an ear to ear smile plastered on her face.

Liz was touched at the sincerity of her words, and they meant the world to her. 'It's good to have them back,' she thought as they started down the highway again.

Maria and Alex dropped Liz off at Michael's as soon as they got back into town, and made her promise to call them later. She quickly agreed, eager to get rid of them so she could be with Michael. She knocked on his door impatiently, ready to be in his caring arms. Sad to say, but in the short time that they were apart, she had started to miss him terribly. Now all she wanted was him.

Michael answered the door. "Hey," he said pulling her into the apartment and kissing her.

"Miss me much?" Liz half joked when he let her come up for air.

"Of course," he said pulling her into another searing kiss. When they finally broke, Michael grabbed her hand and led her down the hall.

"I have something that I want to show you," he said stopping in front of his closed bedroom door.

"What is it?" Liz asked excitedly. She loved surprises. Michael smiled at her excitement.

"Close your eyes," he told her. She willingly obeyed. Michael took a deep breathe and opened the door.

"You can look now," he said quietly wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.

Liz gasped at the sight before her.

Dozens of scented candles were lit and placed carefully around the room, causing its light to flicker across the walls as the scent of raspberries filled the air. Hundreds of white and red rose pedals were scattered across the floor and bed. The radio sat in the corner of the room, softly playing romantic music. Sheets of lace and satin were meticulously canopied over the posts of the bed, creating the effect of a tent. A bowl of strawberries, grapes, and peaches lay on the night stand, a bottle of Tabasco beside it. Liz smiled as tears sprang into her eyes.

"This ... is so beautiful," she whispered, turning around so that she was facing Michael. She kissed him lightly in appreciation. He smiled before leaving her embrace and walking towards the closet. He opened the door and pulled out a large box. Liz's eyes widened. "There's more?", she asked shocked.

Michael slowly nodded. "Of course," he said, handing her the box. She excitedly took it and sat on the floor as she tore at the wrapping paper. Michael sat next to her. She opened the box and started crying. Inside, there was a painting of her sleeping. At the bottom, the words 'an kus naveh' were engraved into the silver frame.

"Now until forever," she read aloud. She started crying even harder before throwing herself into Michael's unexpecting arms. She placed quick kisses all over his face.

"Thank you. I love it," she cried between kisses.

Michael laughed and said, "Good, because with all of the crying you were doing, you kindda had me worried." Liz laughed and looked down at her painting before standing and looking around the room again.

"When?", she asked in awe.

"When you were riding home with Maria and Alex," Michael said hugging her. Then he suddenly let go. "Oh, I almost forgot," he said heading towards the bed.

Liz followed him. Michael grabbed a piece of paper off of the night stand before parting the canopy and sitting on the bed. He gestured for Liz to do the same. They sat in silence for a while before Michael finally spoke.

"The other day, I found myself thinking about how much I love you ... and then I came across these words," Michael started, looking at the piece of paper in his hands.

"Michael, what..." Liz started. Michael put a finger on her lips, silencing her.

"Let me finish?", he pleaded. Liz nodded. "They got me to thinkin' how much you mean to me," he said as a tear rolled down his cheek. "I... I want to read you this. It's by a poet named Summer, and... Just listen," Michael stuttered out.

Liz nodded nervously. Michael began reading.

"If words could do you justice, surely, I would use them; for the world should know that you are like the fire in the eye of an intense sunset as it slowly escapes its ocean's depths. I would shout to the world that you are like the sound of waves against Shore's door; calm, cool, and collected. The earth would be ever so blessed to see your heart, your soul, your very presence, for it has yet to be measured. They should lay eyes upon your smile, for it has the power to part the oceans. Your eyes, they glow brighter than the brightest star. Never will anyone experience such devotion as I, when I gazed into their core. For surely, the sun will rise, and the moon shall shine without us, but without you, the earth and time itself shall stall," Michael finished. By this time, both he and Liz were crying.

"Liz, I know that I'm not perfect, and by reading someone else's writing, I know that I've proved that, but I mean every word. It's just that I'm not very good with words, and this seemed to sum up my feelings for you..." Michael was cut off by a very passionate kiss from Liz.

"Just shut up and make love to me," Liz whispered against his lips, before kissing him again.

The candle light flickered against the canopy, illuminating that happy couple as they made love for the very first time.

From ch. 13

Ch. 14

Liz stepped out of the shower and put on her robe. She grabbed a towel and started drying her hair, all while humming to herself. She smiled as she remembered waking up in Michael's arms, earlier that morning.

~!~Memory~!~

"Hmmm...," Liz stirred, with a satisfied grin etched on her face. She snuggled in closer to Michael, before lazily opening her eyes. She took in her surroundings, feeling at peace, and smiled to herself as she replayed the events of the previous night in her mind. She glanced at the clock, reading 6 o'clock, before propping her elbow up, and resting her head on her hand. She watched Michael, lovingly, as he slept, he too with a grin on his face.

Liz watched him for what seemed like minutes, gently brushing his hair out of his face. She smiled, thinking about how adorable he looked. When she couldn't resist it any longer, she lightly brushed her lips over his, before pulling back to look at him. When he didn't respond, she frowned. Determined, she leaned in again, kissing him a little harder. Again, he didn't respond. Fed up, and tired of pleasantries, Liz rolled over, lying directly on top of Michael. She took his lips with hers, and instantly felt strong arms wrap around her.
Liz shrieked when she found that the tables had been turned and that she now lied on her back, her arms pinned above her head. Michael took her surprise as an opportunity to deepen the kiss. When the need for air became too great, he broke the kiss and gazed into her eyes.

"I wouldn't mind waking up like that every morning, for the rest of my life," Michael said, his voice husky. Liz smiled.

"Ditto," she whispered against his lips, coining the term as her own. Michael chuckled, glancing at the clock.

"Hmmm... 7:30. You wanna eat something?" Michael asked her. Liz looked at him. Had she really been watching him sleep for over an hour? She shook her head.

"Exactly what I had in mind," she replied suggestively, before attacking his mouth.

~!~End of memory~!~

That had been over three hours ago. Now she stood in her bathroom, getting ready for a day of shopping with Maria.

Still humming, Liz opened her bathroom door, and stepped into her bedroom, fully clothed. So engrossed in her thoughts, she never noticed the figures sitting on her bed.

"Where the HELL have you been?" Liz turned around, startled, and was surprised to find herself looking into the angry eyes of Jeff Parker.

"I was just..." Liz stuttered out. Nancy interrupted her.

"Do you have any idea how worried we were? Huh! Do you? We haven't seen you, or heard from you in over
24 hours, and then here you come, strolling in after 10 o'clock this morning, without a care in the world. Girl if you--," Nancy scolded.

"Calm down! Goodness. I was with Michael, ok. I was perfectly safe," Liz said to her 'parents', completely oblivious to the look of outrage on Jeff's face.

"Calm down!? Calm down, Liz? You were safe? You stay over night over some guy's house, doing GOD knows what, and you want us to calm down!" Jeff yelled. By this time Liz was furious.

"Yes, I was safe, and it is NONE of your business what Michael and I were doing," Liz seethed.

"None of our business? Young lady, we are your parents, and--" Nancy never got the chance to finish her statement.

"My parents!? Is that what you are to me? And to think, here I am thinking that I have no parents!" Liz yelled in Sunierian. Jeff and Nancy paled.

"You ... who told you?" Jeff stuttered out, his voice cloaked in anguish.

"Who told me? Is that all you have to say for yourself? After lying to me for over 17 years, that is all you have to say? I trusted you! And what do you do? You LIE to me!" Liz accused them.

"Liz, we never meant to hurt you," Nancy said, reaching for her 'daughter'. Liz shrank back from her touch, acting as if it had burned her. Nancy's face fell.

"Don't touch me. You... I'm leaving. I just don't want to look at you right now," Liz said, grabbing her purse and jacket before pushing past them, and walking out of the door.
